The blades that impaled the Green Goblin minutes ago were leaking out his green and red blood from the sharp edges of it, and yet the Green Goblin stood there unaffected by the lethal injury. Spider-man stood in front of him, ready for the Green Goblin to make his move, he didn't know for sure how he got this resistance and if there was anything else that changed in him. He didn't know how long he could continue like this in this fight, the rush of adrenaline from earlier was running out and the pain was starting to fade back in, he wondered if getting impaled by his own glider wasn't enough to stop the Green Goblin, he didn't know what would be enough to take him down, but he will have to find out.
The Green Goblin ran towards Spider-man, once close enough to Spider-man he swung his arm at him, Spider-man dodged the attack by crouching down and going behind the Green Goblin, he turned around to face Spider-man as he shot two web strings to his boots sticking them to the wooden floor, but Spider-man didn't expect him to get off the webs easily, the Green Goblin shot his knee high up to Spider-man's chin, as he backed away the Green Goblin grabbed him and held him up and then slammed him down to the wooden floor, breaking it as they both went down from it, landing to a gravel ground.
Being on top of Spider-man, the Green Goblin started punching him in the face continuously, drawing more blood on his face as it landed on the ground. Spider-man retracted his legs back and kicked Green's Goblin in the stomach with both of his boots, making him stand away from him.
Spider-man quickly got up and swung his arm to punch the Green Goblin, he blocked the punch with his hand, with his other hand he grabbed Spider-man's suit by the waist and threw him at the brick wall behind him.
The Green Goblin backed away intending to launch himself towards Spider-man while he was leaning against the wall, The Green Goblin started rushing towards him and in the last second Spider-man shot a web string up to the broken wooden ceiling and went up at it and stayed in the ceiling, as the Green Goblin slammed himself against the wall, completely breaking it apart as he fell down with the broken bricks to the ground.
The Green Goblin got up and turned back to Spider-man as he jumped down at him, landing the back of his thighs to Green Goblin's shoulders, from there he started punching down at Green Goblin's exposed face, thinking that without the mask he wouldn't resist the impact of the punches. But he was wrong, as after each punch the Green Goblin turned his head back to Spider-man laughing at him, when he got bored of the punches the Green Goblin grabbed Spider-man's thighs and threw him down to the pile of bricks, Spider-man grunted in pain the moment his back slammed into the pile of bricks.
The Green Goblin stood there, waiting for Spider-man to get up or counter-attack, but nothing happened. Spider-man was laying there, trying to catch his breath, was he already beaten? The Green Goblin grabbed him and held him up, before turning around while he threw Spider-man the other way, Spider-man rolled around the ground until he stopped and laid on his stomach.
Then he felt a crushing sensation in his back, he grunted in pain as the Green Goblin crouched down, putting pressure on his knee into Spider-man's back. He grabbed his hair that was going out of the ripped parts of the mask and held his head up.
"What's wrong, Spider-man? No more quirky lines?" The Green Goblin asked Spider-man, Spider-man didn't answer, trying to get off the Green Goblin's grasp, "You're done, aren't you? I hate to admit this, but you could have beaten me before, back at the gala or at Marmalade's mansion, but no, you've decided it was more important to save the lives of those who don't deserve them." Spider-man tried to raise his hand, try and do something against the Green Goblin, but he quickly stomped on his hand with his boot, "But oh well, when you will meet back with your dead friend, they will be so proud you lived the life they wanted, forgetting to live your own."
With the crushing weight of The Green Goblin, Spider-man couldn't get off him, The Green Goblin put both of his hands on Spider-man's face, ready to twist it and finish Spider-man once and for all. But then Spider-man's spider sense kicked in and soon enough they both started hearing a car approaching them, they looked in front of them and saw a wall with a gap in the middle of it the size and shape made for a door, in that hole they saw the headlights of a car approaching them.
The car broke through the wall, as the Green Goblin quickly jumped out of the way to the left and Spider-man rolled out to the right, stopping and falling to his back as he looked on the police car that stopped near him. He saw six figures and he quickly realized they weren't from the police, they were the Bad Guys with Diane back in her Crimson Paw suit. They went over to his side, still not realizing that half of his mask was ripped out.
"Spider-man. Are you all right..." Diane stopped as she looked down at Spider-man, finally realizing who he was.
Spider-man put his hand to his face, but he looked down and sighed, he never wanted this to happen, but it did and he couldn't back away from it anymore. He put his hand down.
"No way..." Wolf said, he couldn't believe the photographer out of all people would be Spider-man.
Piranha pointed down at Spider-man, "It's the dancer!"
Spider-man looked back up at them, realizing there were bigger priorities right now, "You guys should get out of here."
They looked at each other, not hesitating to give each other determined nods that they wouldn't back away so easily.
"I think we've already told you..." Wolf looked back at Spider-man as he extended his paw towards him, "...We're not letting you deal with the Goblin alone."
Spider-man looked at Wolf's paw, he was right in a way, he couldn't do this alone anymore, The Green Goblin became too powerful and he's too injured to deal with him. He wanted to avoid this situation, but he couldn't. Now all he had to do was trust the Bad Guys and the Crimson Paw. He took Wolf's paw as Wolf helped him up, the now group of seven gave one last look at each other before going away from the vehicle and walking towards the Green Goblin, who waited for them to finish their reunion.
Spider-man wasn't the only one that got his identity revealed as they had a look at Green Goblin without his mask, seeing that it was Norman Osborn.
The Green Goblin extended his arms to the side, "Oh look it here, the furries have arrived!"
"So, you're the Green Goblin?" Tarantula asked Norman.
"Does it matter? You'll be dead before telling that tale." The Green Goblin stated.
"Never heard of fairy tale endings?" Wolf asked the Green Goblin.
The Green Goblin smirked, "The big bad wolf always dies."
"Snake attack!" The Green Goblin heard that phrase being shouted behind him.
He didn't have time to turn back, as Snake had sneaked behind the Green Goblin while he was talking with the Bad Guys. Snake enrolled his whole body around the Green Goblin, he tried to get off Snake's grasp, and Snake had some difficulty to remain enrolled around him so he decided to act quickly, putting his head up to the exposed side of Green Goblin's neck and then bite it, shoving his fangs to his neck, spreading poison that would quickly paralyze him. By piercing through his skin, Snake had a taste of the Green Goblin's blood, it felt acidic and most especially boiling hot, Snake couldn't resist and got his fangs out of Green Goblin's neck, spitting out his green blood.
At the same time, the Green Goblin had gotten his hand up enough to catch Snake's tail, he swung his tail down, bringing Snake's whole body down with it to the ground. He let go of Snake's tail and grabbed him by the throat, pinning Snake down to the ground, with no way to bite him again. Seeing Snake in danger, the others started rushing towards the Green Goblin.
Piranha was the fastest, being the first to arrive and once he was close enough to them, he jumped out ready to attack the Green Goblin right in the face, the Green Goblin turned his head towards Piranha in the middle of his jump, he started spitting green blood from out of his mouth which landed to Piranha's eyes, feeling the burning sensation on his eyes, Piranha closed them and put his hands on them as he fell down to the ground, too distracted by the pain to attack the Green Goblin.
Shark was the one who dealt with the Green Goblin, sending him a strong kick right to the side of his face, he let go of Snake as he was forced to back away from the kick. Wolf came in, going on top of Shark and using him as a way to jump higher in the air and falling towards the Green Goblin, but Wolf's attack failed as the Green Goblin caught him in the air, he turned around himself and then threw Wolf out, Shark caught Wolf in his arms, not seeing the Green Goblin rushing towards him, he jumped sideways and kicked Shark and Wolf with his boots, throwing them back to a brick wall.
The Green Goblin got up, and felt Snake enrolling his body down to his legs, trying to make him stop moving, he didn't have time to deal with Snake as he dodged in-extremis the ionic sword that was shining green as it got swung close to the Green Goblin's face, he saw the Crimson Paw as she was holding back the ionic sword close to her.
The Green Goblin lost his smirk, "The Crimson Paw? With my sword?" The Green Goblin asked, remembering the time the ionic sword got stolen, "I should have known it was you." The Green Goblin looked up and down at the Crimson Paw, as she stood there, not talking back to him as she just waited for the right moment to attack again. The Green Goblin regained his smirk, "But now I wonder, who's behind that mask?!"
The Crimson Paw didn't answer again as she swung the ionic sword again but the Green Goblin dodged it again, while he was distracted with the Crimson Paw's attacks, Snake enrolled his body around Green Goblin's leg, stopping him from moving. The Green Goblin looked down at Snake, seeing his body around his legs, he looked back up and saw the sword swinging sideways towards him, not being able to move out of the way he blocked the incoming sword with his left arm, it pierced through the armor, stopping right before touching his arm. The Crimson Paw tried to remove the sword but it was stuck in his armor.
The Green Goblin focused back on Snake, he gave Snake one good kick in the face, the force of it was enough for Snake to let go of Green Goblin's legs, he looked back up at the Crimson Paw as he used his right hand to push her and the ionic sword away from him, now that his left arm was free he used his hand to punch the Crimson Paw, before reaching her she blocked the incoming punch with the ionic sword.
Meanwhile, Spider-man and Tarantula were watching the fight, hanging back on the police car. Tarantula couldn't physically participate in the fight in as it would suicide for her, and Spider-man was trying to find a plan with her to beat the Green Goblin in another way than hitting him pretty strongly, since he didn't seemed to be much affected by it anymore.
Spider-man looked back at Tarantula, "Tarantula. You think you could hack into his suit?" He asked her.
"Well, if I could somehow access his suit, sure. But I don't really see the use for it." Tarantula answered, "We would be only able to control what he controls."
Spider-man looked down, thinking about what Tarantula just told him. Controlling what the Green Goblin controlled, he turned his head to the direction of the broken wooden bridge where he saw the glider laying on the bridge, "Like the glider." Spider-man said out loud before shooting a web string to the glider and bringing it over to them, "What about it?" He asked Tarantula, turning back to her.
"Give me a second." Tarantula told Spider-man, crawling around the glider seeing how she could access it, on the side of the glider she saw a USB port, "Here's our luck, there's an USB port." she put her USB to the port, and brought out her laptop, starting to type on it and trying to access the glider's controls, "Huh. This glider is more protected than any other of Oscorp's tech."
"But you can hack it." Spider-man stated.
Tarantula smiled back at Spider-man, "You know me." She then went back to typing in her laptop, while explaining to Spider-man what they would do with the glider once they've got control of it, "When that's done, I will deactivate remote control from his suit, but we will still need a driver and if I'm seeing this correctly, the glider is controler by the driver's weight balance, so we will need some that's not small and weightless like me."
"Then when you're done, you call me." Spider-man told Tarantula, she nodded to him. He looked back at Crimson Paw fighting Green Goblin, "I have to join the others."
"Go get him, Spider-man!" Tarantula encouraged Spider-man.
Spider-man shot a web string up in the ceiling of a ruin and joined the fight. Meanwhile, the Green Goblin was backed up to a brick wall, while he was able to dodge Crimson Paw's attack, he had to admit her attacks were too fast for him to counter-attack. Once again the sword was swung towards him, he dodged it by moving to the left side of the wall as the sword easily cut through the bricks, but cutting through a solid material was slower than cutting through the air, finally giving enough time for the Green Goblin to counter attack.
Backing away his arm, ready to punch the Crimson Paw as she had just got her sword off, suddenly his hand got stuck in the wall, he turned his head to his hand seeing web on it, gluing his hand to the wall. He felt a quick jolt of pain before disappearing as he looked down on his waist and saw the sword had pierced through his armor. He noticed that the Crimson Paw wasn't going for the kill from where she attacked him but just enough to try and immobilize him, he smirked, what a mistake.
The Green Goblin grabbed her arm and pulled her close to him, until he was at the best distance to headbutt her face, making her fall back, the sword included. He looked up and saw Spider-man swinging towards him, the same technique he saw many times before, by now he knew exactly how to counter attack with ease.
The Green Goblin pulled his hand off the wall, the web stayed on his hand as a few pieces of bricks stayed too, he used those bricks to his advantage as once Spider-man swung close to him, he punched him in the face making sure to hit him with the bricks too, Spider-man let go of the web and fell down to his back.
Before the Green Goblin could strike again, he got kicked in the side of the face by Wolf, backing away from the kick the Green Goblin didn't see Spider-man getting up, he punched the Goblin in the face, throwing him back to Wolf. He wouldn't let them hit him turn by turn as he got closer to Wolf, he prepared to punch him but he couldn't move his arm anymore, feeling web on his hand, Spider-man had webbed him and pushed back the web so that he wouldn't move. The Green Goblin was moving his head back, but in the movement he caught Shark running towards him at full speed, Spider-man let go of the web the moment Shark pushed back Green Goblin with his whole body, breaking the brick wall behind him.
They both fell down to a gravel ground, the Green Goblin fell to his back as Shark fell on top of him, but he quickly got off, standing on Green Goblin's left side, the Goblin looked up and saw Piranha jumping down from the gap in the brick wall and down towards him. The Green Goblin didn't have time to dodge as Piranha's shoes slammed down to the Green Goblin's face, like Mario stomping on a goomba.
Piranha jumped out of Green Goblin's face to his right side, as the Green Goblin closed his eyes from Piranha's attack and put his arms up as green vapor started going off from a hole in his gloves, vapor came towards Shark and Piranha as they started to feel weak.
"Sleep..." The Green Goblin opened his eyes as Piranha and Shark closed theirs and fell to the gravel ground, getting knocked unconscious by the vapor.
After dealing with Piranha and Shark, the Green Goblin got up, he didn't have time to breath as the ionic sword got thrown towards it, he moved out of the way as the tip of the sword got into the gravel ground and stood stuck there. The Green Goblin looked up and met with a kick right in his face from the Crimson Paw's boot. He stumbled back as the Crimson Paw stood in front of him.
The Green Goblin spat down the green blood inside his mouth, his eyes focused on the Crimson Paw, he still didn't know who they were and he was determined to get an answer sooner rather than later. They rushed towards each other, once close enough the Green Goblin threw a punch at Crimson Paw, she dodged it by jumping up, going higher than Goblin's height and landing right behind him, she put her paws down on the gravel ground and pushed her legs back hitting the Green Goblin's back with her boots, making the Green Goblin stumble forward.
They both turned back to each other, as the Green Goblin rushed back to her, the Crimson Paw got up, but this time the Green Goblin didn't let her time to dodge his attack, as he speared her to the ground, quickly putting his knee on her left arm and his boot on her right arm. She tried to get off his grasp but the Goblin was stronger than her, he put his hand to the top of her mask and ripped it out, finally seeing who was behind that mask.
But out of the people he could think off, he didn't expect to find out that Diane was the Crimson Paw, but it did make sense to him, "How dumb I was to not figure out a politician could be a thief."
Considering he now knew her real identity, Diane couldn't be mute anymore, "Why are you doing this?" Diane asked the Green Goblin.
The Green Goblin tilted his head to the side, "I Thought you would know it by now. You tried to suppress me and I fought back, simple survival instinct. This is something that an animal like yourself should know."
Diane couldn't believe Norman would go this far just to get revenge out of her, "So this is just about those contracts?" Diane asked Green Goblin.
"You ruined my life's work!" The Green Goblin answered Diane.
"It's not my fault your tech sucks." Diane retorted.
"What?!" Green Goblin asked Diane, putting his face down close to Diane in anger.
"Anyone can steal them, hack them and use them for their own purposes. There's no protection in them." Diane explained why Oscorp's tech wasn't good.
"That means people do want to use my technology." The Green Goblin got up, leaving Diane on the ground. He walked over to where the ionic sword was standing, "I'll show you." He grabbed the handle and took the sword out of the gravel ground. He turned to Diane as she was slowly getting up from the ground, "I'll show the people what to fear, and then I'll give them the way to fight that fear."
Then he realized something, he heard a low and constant beeping sound, it seemed to be coming from the sword's handle. He looked at it and saw a round device with a flashing orange light in the middle of it, then the orange light stopped flashing as it instantly started sending shockwaves to the sword and the Green Goblin, he grunted, feeling the shock around him. He let go of the sword as the shock waves dissipated around him.
Looking in front of him, he saw the Crimson Paw had joined up with Spider-man, Wolf and Snake. It seemed like he needed to call for backup too. With his left hand he reached for his other arm and pressed the button to call up the glider.
At the same time, Tarantula was still up in the glider, typing on her laptop as she tried to hack into the glider, she knew she was close to take control of the glider, just a matter of seconds. Suddenly, the glider started flying up, Tarantula didn't expect it to fly up now, she held onto the laptop as she realized the Green Goblin might have called it. Her suspicions turned real when the glider flew down to approach Green Goblin. She hadn't finished yet and the Goblin would find her if she stayed on the glider. She decided to grab onto the laptop and crawl on the downside of the glider and stay there, out of Green Goblin's view. The Green Goblin jumped up to the top of the glider.
The others saw Tarantula down on the glider, she got unnoticed by the Green Goblin and was frantically waving at them, telling them she needed more time and they had to distract the Green Goblin. They all looked up at him.
"You're not planning on fleeing like a coward, are you?" Snake asked the Green Goblin.
"Says the one grouping up to beat me." The Green Goblin retorted, "I always had to fight on my own, which is why I always won. And today's no exception." He hovered his hand to the front of the glider as a pumpkin bomb got out of the glider and lifted up to Green Goblin's hand.
"I don't know..." Wolf stalled for time, "I think you just jinxed it."
"I don't believe in such a thing. I'm a scientist after all." The Green Goblin told Wolf.
"Oh. You're a facts guy then?" Wolf asked the Green Goblin.
With that question, the Green Goblin became suspicious of Wolf, he might be trying to stall for time or something like that. The Green Goblin wouldn't let him take control of the situation, "I am. And fact is...You're all going to die by my hands." Then he held his arm back, his thumb right on the bomb's button ready to push it and throw the bomb at them.
"I've got a better fact for you." Wolf told The Green Goblin, "Tarantula is on your glider right now and is hacking it."
The others looked at Wolf, shocked he would reveal that information to the Green Goblin. He looked down on his glider, his confident smirk fading away as he didn't find Tarantula on his glider, he had completely forgotten about her.
Wolf and Tarantula shared a look, smiling at each other, she had finished hacking into the glider a few seconds ago, Wolf nodded his head at Tarantula, telling her, "Webs, hit it."
Tarantula pressed the shift key, flames came out of the glider's exhaust pipes, starting to fly forward at high speed, flying past Wolf, Diane, Spider-man and Snake as they felt a gush of wind hit them from the glider's speed. On the glider, the Green Goblin had lost balance, putting his right knee down trying to not fall off the glider, he tried to stop the glider, but even when he pressed the button to shut down the glider, it was still on continuing to fly forward, ignoring his physical input, the glider did get hacked.
The Green Goblin didn't have time to find a way out of this situation as he felt a web string on his back and then he got pushed off the glider and fell down to the gravel ground. He got up and saw Spider-man swinging towards the glider as it slowed down for him to catch it up, once he got on top of it, the Green Goblin finally found where Tarantula was, hiding below the glider. The Green Goblin closed his fist on the pumpkin bomb in his hand, nearly breaking it apart. Tarantula got on top of the glider and crawled to Spider-man's shoulder as the glider continued to fly forward, this time at a slower speed.
"So what's next?" Tarantula asked Spider-man.
Spider-man was looking down, trying to see how the glider worked, "I don't know."
Tarantula raised a brow, "What do you mean I thought you had a plan?"
"I make it as it goes." Spider-man revealed he wasn't the best at making plans in advance.
"Really?" Tarantula asked Spider-man to be sure.
Spider-man nodded, "Yeah, I don't really have the time to make a good one."
Tarantula looked down on the glider, "So what do we do with the glider?" She asked Spider-man the point of hacking the glider.
Spider-man thought about what the glider had, it didn't have the blades anymore, but it did have the pumpkin bombs, the machine guns and the missiles. After thinking for a bit, he chose the missiles, "The missiles. We use them and hope for the best."
"You think he will survive the impact of a missile?" Tarantula asked Spider-man, she knew the Green Goblin was dangerous, but she didn't want to kill him either.
Spider-man shrugged, "I survived."
"But you're Spider-man." Tarantula pointed out.
"Guys!" Wolf interrupted their conversation as he called them out while he, Diane and Snake were fighting off the Green Goblin, "You mind helping us out?"
Spider-man turned his head to Tarantula, "You shoot when I tell you, okay?"
Tarantula nodded, getting her laptop ready, "Yeah."
Now all they had to do was to make a U-turn with the glider and fly back to the Green Goblin and the others. The problem was they had no idea on how to navigate the glider. Spider-man tried to move his legs around the glider, leaning them to left and right, up and down, the glider would change directions and speed but he had no idea on how to make it turn back.
"You've got any idea on how to move this glider?" Spider-man asked Tarantula.
Tarantula shook her head, looking at all the options for the glider in her laptop, "Nope. I can only put it on auto-pilot mode, it's not what we need, right now."
"Alright. Let's get out of this situation, the same way I always do." Spider-man said, seeing a wall to his right, he shot a web string on top of the wall and leaned his body to the right as the glider started shifting to the right, they approached the wall until the glider had finally made the 180 degrees turn they wanted. Spider-man let go of the web string as the glider flew towards the Green Goblin and the others.
"Guys, move away now!" Spider-man shouted to Wolf, Diane and Snake.
They moved out of the way, leaving the Green Goblin alone as he turned to the approaching duo of spiders on the glider, he looked at them with pure hate, he wouldn't let them take control of his technology.
The Green Goblin took out a pumpkin bomb from his belt as he threw it out towards Spider-man and Tarantula, the bomb peeled his orange metal sheets out as five razor blades flew out of the bomb. Soon, the razor blades were close to the duo, as they were on the glider they didn't know how to control properly, they couldn't dodge them. Once close to them, Spider-man started punching at the razor blades that flew towards them, he was able to break them all apart, but by the end his hands were bleeding from the cuts of the blades, he wasn't sure he could take more of those.
Baring his teeth in absolute anger, the Green Goblin pushed the button of the last pumpkin bomb he has and throw it out towards the approaching glider.
Seeing the bomb approaching them, Spider-man decided it was the best time to throw the missile, "Now!" He ordered Tarantula to shoot the missile.
Tarantula didn't waste any time, pressing on the key to shoot the missile as it flew off from below the glider. The pumpkin bomb started to beep rapidly, ready to explode as the missile got slammed into the bomb as both explosives blew off, creating a big explosion expulsing everyone close to the giant ball of fire. The whole ruins crumbled from the impact of the explosion as its fragile renmans were starting to fall down.
Having not been caught by the explosion, Wolf, Snake and Diane took the unconscious Shark and Piranha to a safe area where they wouldn't risk getting hit by falling debris. Soon enough the fire would dissipate to smoke going all around the ruins. And everything was silent, they didn't know yet if the silence was a good sign, but considering the fire was going out, they decided to check it out.
"I'll stay with them." Snake told Wolf and Diane, eyeing Shark and Piranha still lying unconscious on the ground, "Go check with the others."
Diane heard Snake's words, but she was focused on the Green Goblin. Through all the smoke she could see him, crawling out from the impact of the explosion.
She looked back at Wolf, "You should check on Angel and Tarantula. I have to make sure he is stopped."
Wolf nodded and started running to the opposite direction, trying to find where Spider-man and Tarantula crashed, while Snake looked at Piranha and Shark waiting for them to wake up and Diane walked up to the Green Goblin.
The Green Goblin was breathing heavily, crawling away in a desperate effort to escape this place, but he heard someone approaching. He sighed, putting his head down to the gravel ground, then with some difficulty he slowly rolled to his left so he could lay on his back, since he was too weak to even just sit up. Diane stopped to his side, looking down on him, while he had green blood around his body, his veins seemed to have turned back to normal, flexing less and without any visible green.
"This...this is how you deal with your problems?" The Green Goblin asked Diane.
"You forced me to." Diane replied.
The Green Goblin scoffed, "And what do you think you did to me?" He asked back.
"I gave you the opportunity to be better." Diane told the Green Goblin.
The Green Goblin tried to extend his arms to the side, but he rapidly gave up once he felt the wave of pain hitting his arms. But still, his voice was still as confident as ever, "And I am."
Diane looked to the side, whatever happened to Norman, he had clearly lost it, "Did you?" She asked him, looking back at him, "People died because of you."
"Only those who deserve it." The Green Goblin pointed out.
But Diane didn't believe his point, "They didn't. Maybe you know more about them than me, but whatever they did, they didn't deserve death."
The Green Goblin chuckled, "Defending your corrupt friends until the end."
"You think I'm corrupt?" Diane asked the Green Goblin.
"I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't think that." The Green Goblin replied.
"You know, I meant it when I said, you were smart." Diane reminded the Green Goblin of their conversation back at her office, "Was I wrong about that?"
"No, you were right about that. I mean, you really think I haven't thought beyond this?" The Green Goblin asked back, "I'm not one to act without purpose. Things may not change today or tomorrow, but one day you'll see, I changed the city for the better."
Diane had to admit the Green Goblin might not be fooling around with what he just said, she didn't know what he could be planning next, but she knew she had to keep staying on guard, "We'll see about that." Diane told the Green Goblin.
"There's just one last thing for you to do..." The Green Goblin started saying.
"What's that?" Diane asked the Green Goblin, curious as to what he meant.
The Green Goblin looked at Diane, dead in the eyes, "...Kill me."
"I'm no murderer." Diane quickly refused to comply with the Green Goblin's demand.
"No one has to know." The Green Goblin tried to convince Diane to kill him, "Don't forget, I know who you are. I know who Spider-man is. You really want to take those risks?"
After hearing his explanation, Diane did hesitate for a few seconds, but still, she wouldn't resort to murder, "I'll take them." She said with assurance as she crouched down to the Green Goblin and took his arms with one paw and with the other one she got out handcuffs and put it on the Green Goblin's hands, locking the handcuffs into his hands. She got up and started walking away, before stopping and addressing Norman one last time, "I really mean it when I say this: I'm disappointed, Norman."
At the same time, Shark and Piranha had finally woken up from being put to sleep by the Green Goblin's vapor. They slowly sat up and tried to open their eyes, seeing a bit blurry for a bit.
"Whoa...What happened?" Shark asked out loud.
"The Green Goblin put you to sleep." Snake told them what happened to them.
Both of them couldn't believe they got beat by a sleeping vapor, "What? You mean we slept through the fight?" Shark asked Snake.
Snake nodded, "Yeah."
Shark grunted in disappointment from missing the fight, hunching his head back as Piranha swore, "¡Mierda!"
Shark looked back at Snake, "Are the others fine?" He asked about the condition of the others, since he was only seeing Snake with them.
"Diane and Wolf are fine, but the other two..." Then Snake shrugged, "...I think so."
"You think so?" Piranha asked Snake why he didn't know for sure.
"Yeah, I decided to stay here and check on you guys." Snake replied.
"Aw. thanks man." Shark thanked Snake for caring for them as he lightly punched Snake's body.
Then they heard Wolf shouting, "Guys, over here! I found them!"
Upon hearing this, Snake helped Shark and Piranha up as they walked to join Wolf as Diane followed right behind them.
Spider-man was laying his back to the renmans of a concrete wall, his suit had seen better days, rips and holes were all around it leaving space for his cuts and bruises to be visible for everyone, his mask didn't even cover half of his face. Tarantula was standing up on his hands, looking much better than him as he had shielded her from the explosion.
Tarantula looked up at him, glad they both made it out alive, and she was even more glad to know she had fought alongside Spider-man. She didn't expect this day to go out this way, but she didn't mind it at all.
Which is why she decided to go straight into a hug, extending her arms to the side of Spider-man's neck, since it was as long as she could go. He didn't expect this at all, he expected maybe a fist-bump as usual or a gleeful excited scream from her, but not this. This feeling of closeness Angel always tried to avoid as he was scared of the repercussions it would cause, this time, for the first time in years, he didn't fear that feeling, so he let into that hug.
Then they hear Snake making a fake cough to catch their attention, But Tarantula had none of them, waving back at him, telling him to give them more time, she was hugging Spider-man, dammit!
Angel chuckled from Tarantula's attitude, he looked up at the Bad Guys and Diane that were standing in front of them, "Did we get him?"
Diane nodded, "Yeah, he won't get up for a while." She then extended her arm down to Angel, "Listen, we won't tell no one."
Angel took Diane's paw as she helped him up, "Thank you."
"The Chief should arrive any minute now." Wolf stated, then he looked at Angel and Diane, "You two should probably go."
"You sure?" Diane asked Wolf.
Wolf nodded, "Yeah, she can't see you two like that, can't she?"
Diane and Angel both agreed with Wolf. So they both had to leave before the Chief arrived. But before that, Tarantula and Spider-man made one last fist bump before she joined the Bad Guys. They waved Diane and Angel goodbye as they did the same, then Diane held onto Angel as he shot a web string up to a wall and started swinging away from the scene.
Later on, the Chief had finally arrived at the scene, she had gotten out of her police car as the cat just laid on her left shoulder, she looked around, trying to find the Bad Guys, Spider-man or the Green Goblin and maybe even the Governor. She then found the police car the Bad Guys had stolen, she ran towards the car, jumping to the top of the car and then jumped back down to the front of the car as she pointed to the Bad Guys inside the car.
"Alright, now I've got you!" The Chief declared, having finally found the Bad Guys.
"Chief! We've been waiting for you." Wolf told the Chief. She noticed they were all handcuffed inside the car.
"Oh yeah? Well, I've been waiting on gettin' my hands on you." The Chief retorted, making sure she wouldn't fall to any of Wolf's tricks anymore.
"What? But we didn't do anything." Wolf assured the Chief they were innocent, he looked around at the Bad Guys, "Right guys?"
They all nodded, agreeing with Wolf that they didn't do anything wrong.
The Chief didn't believe them, "You tried to escape arrest!" She reminded them that they stole a police car and drove off.
"We just wanted to do one good deed before going to prison." Wolf revealed this to the Chief.
The Chief chuckled, still not believing him, "Oh yeah?" She asked Wolf, wondering what good deed he was talking about.
"Oh yeah." Tarantula repeated the Chief's words, jumping over to Norman's hair as she pointed down at him, "We caught the Green Goblin."
And that the Chief didn't expect, she saw the Green Goblin handcuffed right in between the Bad Guys, and the Green Goblin was Norman Osborn, "Holy Moly! Is that Norman Osborn? You're the Green Goblin?!" She asked Norman.
But Norman continued to just look down, not answering the Chief's question.
The Chief scratched the back of her hair, "Well, that is certainly unexpected."
"So will you take us in?" Wolf asked the Chief, waving his head to the driver's seat.
"Just wait a second..." The Chief pointed a finger up, "Where's Spider-man?" She asked the Bad Guys where Spider-man was since she knew he got taken by the Green Goblin and she didn't see him anywhere around here.
"He is not one to stay after stopping trouble." Tarantula told the Chief, Spider-man had already gone away.
"Just like Batman." Wolf added.
The Chief thought about it, they did steal a police car but at the same time, they didn't seem to do anything bad, hell, they even stopped the Green Goblin with the help of Spider-man, so maybe they're telling the truth? "I don't know if I can believe your story..." She got in the car and sat in the driver's seat, "But this time you will definitely not escape my sight! Because I'm the driver this time."
But before driving away from the ruins, she put the cat down on the passenger's seat.
"I see you've met our feline partner." Wolf said, eyeing down the cat.
Feline partner? That meant this cat had worked with the Bad Guys, "They're a bad guy too?" The Chief asked the Bad Guys to be sure.
Snake chuckled, "Oh, they're more than that."
Piranha agreed, "Yeah, you wouldn't believe all the crazy war crimes they have."
"Hmm..." The Chief looked down at the cat, as the cat looked up at her, she was thinking if she could trust that cat. But after the cat gave her a cute meow, she just shrugged, "Well, they are darn cute, so I'm gonna let it slide."
Spider-man was swinging in the city, considering that Diane was holding onto him from the side, he could only use one arm so the swinging was a bit slower than usual. But still he did feel Diane had a strong grip on him.
"Diane, are you okay?" Spider-man asked Diane.
Diane nodded with a bit of a nervous chuckle, "I am. I've done things similar to this before."
"Your nails are literally going through my skin right now." Spider-man explained why he asked if she was feeling fine, as the nails impaling his skin made him feel not fine.
"I'm sorry, I jump from pretty crazy high heights, but I never jump from the type of heights where I will die flatten like a pancake." Diane explained why she was holding on to Spider-man for dear life, "So, just don't drop me."
"I won't." Spider-man assured her he wouldn't drop her.
After a few minutes, Spider-man finds Diane's house, he swung down to it and they both landed on the house's garden.
"Wasn't so bad, was it?" Spider-man asked Diane.
Diane agreed, "Of course, It wasn't." But on the inside, she didn't agree, never wanting to experience this web-swinging thing ever again.
"Well, I'm gonna go." Spider-man waved at Diane, starting to leave.
"Wait. We should treat those before you go." Diane told Spider-man he should stay so they could treat the injuries he had.
Spider-man waved his hand, telling Diane to not worry, "Don't worry, I'm fine."
Diane approached Spider-man, worried about his condition, "Angel, you're bleeding."
"You too." Angel pointed out in return.
Diane grabbed his hand, "Just come on in."
Angel looked to the side, he didn't want a repeat of what he did to her at the Gala, so he supposed he could just accept it, "Alright, fine."
They entered the house, as Angel followed Diane to the lift behind the fridge, after going down to the sound of the Spider-man theme, they arrived at the Crimson Paw's base, also known as Foxcave.
Diane pointed to the table, "You can sit on the table."
As Diane went on to take the medical supplies out, Angel walked to the table and sat on top of it. Getting his mask off and putting it to his side, then he removed the top of his suit.
Diane put the antiseptic and bandages on the table, "So, you're really okay with me being the Crimson Paw?" She asked Angel.
Angel shrugged, "I mean, you're not the Crimson Paw anymore, right?"
Diane nodded, "Right." She started pouring the antiseptic into the cotton.
"Then, there's nothing for me to-" Angel cut himself off as he grunted in pain and moved out from where Diane applied the cotton in his body.
Diane didn't expect Angel to react that way, "What? Did I hurt you?" She asked him.
"It stings!" Angel told Diane, clutching his arm where she put the cotton to.
Diane chuckled, "This is the thing that makes you scream in pain?"
"I didn't scream in pain when you were cutting my skin off for being scared of swinging with me in the air." Angel reminded Diane.
Diane put her paws in the air, "Alright, alright. You got me."
Diane started applying the cotton to Angel's wounds again; he didn't back away this time. Diane was focused on treating his wounds, relieved he didn't seem to hold a grudge from being the Crimson Paw, while Angel was thinking about how long was she the Crimson Paw for, he did have his powers and was unofficially Spider-man before he met Diane, so it could be possible she was the Crimson Paw before.
"So...Were you always..." Angel started saying.
"Always what?" Diane asked Angel, curious as to what he was trying to say.
"Like...The Crimson Paw?" Angel asked Diane.
Diane had an idea of why Angel was asking her that question, "You're asking if I was a thief back in high school?" Diane asked Angel if this was what he meant.
Angel nodded, "I just want to know."
"Well..." Diane hoped Angel wouldn't take her answer badly, "I never stole from you."
"Really?" Angel asked Diane.
"Unlike the others, you didn't treat me like a thief, and I would respect that." Diane told Angel why she never stole from him.
Angel nodded, "Nice to know."
"What about you? When did you become Spider-man?" Diane asked Angel.
"Like, nearly one year before you came into high school." Angel revealed this to Diane.
Diane was surprised to know Angel was Spider-man way before they actually met for the first time, "Uh. I wouldn't have guessed that one..."
"I mean, I wasn't really Spider-man, I just had the powers." Angel corrected himself.
"Then you used your powers for what?" Diane asked Angel.
"Swing to the school." Angel told Diane a bit shamefully, "And sometimes I was too lazy to get up and grab the remote."
Diane chuckled, "Responsibly using your powers, I see."
"I just didn't want to show them in the beginning." Angel explained why he didn't use his powers like he uses them now.
"But it was alright to swing over the city to go to school?" Diane asked Angel.
"It wasn't like today where everyone has a phone to record anything." Angel explained why he swung without worry.
"So what made you change? Like, what made you become someone that protects the city?" Diane asked Angel.
Angel looked down as Diane noticed his hesitation to answer her question, quickly figuring out that question did hurt him.
"I'm sorry." Diane apologized for asking that question, "Hey listen, I don't want to make you uncomfortable so if I go too far, tell me." Seeing Angel nodding to her, she continued. "At the gala, we had a pretty good time together and in the end we had a bit of an intimate moment together until you ran off."
"I'm sorry about that." Angel apologized for giving up on Diane at the Gala.
"It's fine, I'm not blaming you for it. I just couldn't wrap my head around why you would do that." Diane told Angel to not worry about it, "But now that I know who you really are, and with the way you reacted to my question, I'm just wondering if I reminded you of someone you lost?"
Angel sighed, he supposed he had no other choice than to tell Diane about why he became Spider-man, "Do you know who Jessie Marsh was?" Angel asked Diane.
Diane started thinking about that name, but it wasn't familiar to her, "No." She told Angel.
"Then what about that girl that was always with me in high school?" Angel asked Diane.
This time, Diane did remember, maybe not very well, but she did remember a girl always by Angel's side in high school, "I have a few vague memories of what she looked like. I Never talked to her."
"Well, me and her it's a pretty long story, you're up for it?" Angel asked Diane if she wanted to hear his story.
"Take your time." Diane told Angel she was ready to listen to him.
"Okay." Angel nodded.
This was a hard story to tell, he lived through it, vividly remembering the details of these moments that shaped his life, but still he had to tell Diane, since she asked to and also it would help remind him of why he chose this path in his life.
Oh hi everyone!
This chapter does come in a bit late from usual, but I did finish it right this morning, so it might not be the best idea to upload it the same day I just finished it, but I do have a schedule to maintain and also if the chapter is that bad I can just edit it later.
But hey, the final fight is over and the main villain is stopped, and unlike the original movie Norman isn't killed. But the story is not finished yet, it's close to finish but not yet. We still have at minimum two chapters before this story is finished.
So sit tight, because the next chapter will be a flashback chapter (yay!) So cue the sad Naruto music specially made for flashbacks, because as it was hinted in the story, this flashback won't be that joyful.
Anyway, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
See ya!
