Chapter Twelve: Incident at the Party
The party has been going well so far, the patrons we're enjoying the party with their guilds and families and the king and future queen we're enjoying themselves. Right now the future queen stood with her fiancé talking to her sister and her own fiancé. "I can't believe how things have changed over the years." Carly smiled softly thinking back on her middle and high school years.
"I know what you mean Carly. Four years ago we were in the middle of the political war and now we're close to becoming queens of our lovers' kingdoms." Kelly smiled happily at her sister. In the years since she and Kelly had graduated from their high school they had maintained and built their relationship as sisters and bonded with their other two sisters that they met throughout that time.
Normally at a royal guild party it was only the guild members of the newest royal guild, their families, the royal family of the kingdom the guild was from, and the rest of the royal guilds and their families. But in this case, due to the fact that Leah had been the public official to endorse Divinus Magia has the newest royal guild she was present to show that she was the one to endorse them.
"I'm just glad that the rebuilding process for the alliance is going well. I got to say it was smart of Leah to endorse Divinus Magia as the newest Royal guild after they rescued her. It's helped relations between Minecraftia and Atlantide even though they weren't too strained before. The only strain that had caused conflict back then was the time when King Tomas tried to marry me and you off Kelly." Carly pointed out.
During the Parva Alliance Civil Political War, Former Illegitimate King Thomas Grimes of Magiclica and his wife, former Illegitimate Queen Ramona Grimes of Magiclica had tried to force Carly into a marriage with now Disgraced Prince Malik of Krikralia who didn't treat Carly well to say the least. Thankfully the rest of the little club found out and helped them when Kelly managed to escape the royal castle of Magiclica and made her way to the school and told Scott what happened, that and the royal guilds of Magiclica were already planning on opening an investigation.
By then Carly and Steve we're already dating and had already made it known to both sets of parents that they were dating. Hence since their relationship was registered in both their kingdoms their parents could not legally attempt to find a match for them. While having your relationship registered with your local government was typically just an option for most people for royals it was required that the government knew that they were dating someone no matter what. When Carly and Steve started dating, they registered their relationship in both kingdoms and their parents knew that, so Carly's stepparents didn't have an excuse for their actions in that area.
Now normally the consequence of forcing someone who had already been in a registered relationship into another unwanted one in Magiclica was that they'd have to pay a fine of about 245,000 Jewels. However, Carly and Steve were both royalty and as I mentioned before royal families were absolutely forbidden from forcing their children into unwanted marriage or relationships. This meant that the fine that they had to pay would be doubled to 490,000. Not to mention that the parents of the prince in question was not aware of this and has such since in an arranged marriage both sets of parents had to have vocal confirmation, in person, that both children agreed to it and that should the couple's relationship turn out to be toxic or unhealthy in any way they had the right to divorce without their parent's blessing or permission.
Then there was the fact that going into the forced marriage Ramona and Thomas knew that Prince Malik had a record of violence towards those he dated. This made the already doubled fine go higher due to another law which dictated that anyone who had a record of domestic violence, assault, or other similar crimes against a family member or spouse was immediately declared ineligible for an arranged marriage of any kind. The fine of knowingly doing such a thing was 45,000 jewels.
In addition to this during one of the times that Thomas and Ramona had forced Carly to spend time with him at their place under their watch had resulted in Carly getting seriously hurt by him to the point that Kelly had to take her to the hospital. As a result this also doubled the fine has Remona and Thomas had been determined not to have intervened when it was clear that the situation had gotten out of hand. This meant that they had a fine of 90,000 Jewels to pay for their part in that incident. Meaning the total amount of fines they had to pay to Carly as compensation for the incidents was 580,000 Jewels along with her hospital bill which was expensive in of itself.
However that wasn't the worst of the situation, already before this incident they were already under investigation due to Kelly and Carly taking protective actions for their children by sending them to live with their Aunt Lydia who was Sofia's sister and the court finding Ramona a danger to their children's health when the Minor Protection order was granted to them. Because of this a deeper investigation warrant was granted to the investigators which overruled the Royal immunity Thomas and Ramona had.
This event was what led into the 3rd phase of the Parva Alliance Political Civil War. Has the resulting in the exposer of several rulers and public officials in the alliance and out being illegitimate which resulted in the war becoming a public affair rather than the private affair that it had been in the years before. Not that anyone had expected the conflict to go as far as it did. Afterall, it had starched beyond the alliance a few of them were countries that were already trying to join the alliance at that time too.
Unfortunately Thomas and Ramona had never gotten caught and we're still on the run. Kelly looked around for a moment to make sure that none of the newer royal council members were around. None of them we're to her relief because there was something that she wanted to talk about with her husband, sister and brother-in-law to be.
"Hey guys, is it just me or do the new members of Atlantide's Royal remind you of some people we used to know?" Kelly asked with a frown on her face.
"Now that you mention it Kelly some of them do yeah. Especially that new grandmaster of yours Steve. What was his name again I can't remember, I think it was Nathanael Albert or something." Donny frowned at the thought.
"Your close Donny, it's Nathan Arscott. Come to think of it before she was sent back Leah said that Nathan reminded her of Jonathan. She's not sure why though. I don't see anything off about him personally but I never met Jonathan so I wouldn't know if that was him." Steve frowned at the thought of Donny and Leah's evil stepfather. During the early days of the second part of the war Jonathan put Leah and Donny's mother Queen Victoria Pierceton of Minecraftia under a mine control spell and made her stage incidents that led to her illegitimate divorce from King David.
They've since remarried to one another thanks to the fact that her marriage to Jonathan was declared illegitimate due to the mind control and her illegitimate divorce as well. But due to the effects the spell had on her she was no longer able to fulfill her responsibilities as queen. Soon after that Former King David abdicated the throne and made Donny king and put his long-lost twin sister Donna on the throne of Druivell as Queen Regent. Which had become a Minecraftian colony has compensation for what Jonathan had done to his people and the royal family of Minecraftia. And boy did the people in that kingdom need help, Jonathan wasn't a good king at the least.
The quality of life his people had was barely even passable. Needless to say, Donna had her hands full. Between finding a husband and/or finding an heir and improving the quality of life for her subjects the new queen was so busy she took any opportunity she could to take a break. From negotiations with Minecraftia and its allies, to working on her personal life as well it was a busy time for the new queen. She was thankful that her kingdom was part of the parva alliance now. It made it easier since she had access to the alliance's emergency resources now.
One of the benefits that members of the parva alliance could get was access to collection of resources from the other kingdoms in the alliance. Each month, each member of the alliance sent a portion of their resources to this emergency stockpile. The amount they sent was determined by how rich in that pacific resource a kingdom was. For example if a kingdom had a lot of food but not a lot of building materials, they'd send more food than building materials than a kingdom where it was the other way around.
Donny shook the thought of his "Stepfather" out of his mind. Donna had been doing great at ruling the kingdom and had already done well in making progress in healing the kingdom. Though they still had a ways to go. Not to mention Jonathan still hadn't been caught yet. His twin and other younger sister Emalia suffered greatly at the man's hand when he had kidnapped them when they were younger. Which was why he had been so protective of Leah growing up. He still was, but he made sure not to be overprotective. Which so far, he believed that he was doing a good job keeping a balance between being protective and giving her the space she needed to grow up and learn about the world.
"Come to think of it, when Leah did tell me that she thought that she heard Jonathan's voice while Dark Storm was holding her. I don't know much about it, but I sent a few of my Royal Guild Members to investigate." Donny remembered with a frown.
"It wouldn't have happened to be Ropo and Jack, would it? Cause I remember seeing them a few days ago when I was at the Grand Master's place. They said that they had a mission here, but they didn't tell me what it was." Steve asked.
"Yeah, it was, I thought that since this case potentially involved Jonathan that it would be best to send the people I thought I could trust the most in the Royal Guilds. Ropo and Jack had helped us before during their apprenticeships with the Minevegers guild and later Justice League so I knew that even if Jonathan was involved, they could handle him." Donny smiled happily.
During the war there were a number of guilds that played a significant role in its end. Amongst these guilds was the Minevegers guild, one of the very few guilds in existence that had code names and played the biggest part in the wars end out of all the guilds that ended up getting involved.
Amongst their many achievements that lead to them ending the war was their investigation of the situation in Minecraftia that lead to the near arrest of Ramona and Thomas and finding out that Queen Sofia was alive after they faked her death. This was why they were the top guild in Minecrafta, and they won Minecraftia's local guild competition many times.
Donny sighed has his thoughts led him to his wife's past… He knew that she still had many rough days when dealing with the situation. It was part of the reason that her mother had allowed her to move into the kingdom so soon compared to what would normally be the timeframe in the relationship between royals. She hoped that some time away from Magiclica would help her get better which thankfully worked in her favor.
The party of four continued talking with their guards Donald or Donut has he liked to be called and Sharky joining them in the conversation. Soon enough the first song of the night ended, and Alicia stood in front of the Microphone. She smiled at her audience and waited for their applause to end. "Such a lovely crowd here tonight." She started with a smile. "I'd like to take this opportunity to personally thank King Steven Aquarius for inviting me to sing here tonight and congratulate Royal Guild Leaders Ritchie and Brandon on becoming Royal Guild Leaders."
Another round of applause came, and a spotlight was cast over Brandon and Ritchie and they waved to the crowd. Then the light went back on to Alicia and the next song came though the microphone in the meantime the Little Club Members that were present at the party continued their conversation about the Royal Council.
"Did they find anything Donny?" Asked Carly with a hopeful frown. Donny nodded with a frown of his own and explained what Ropo and Jack had found. According to their post mission report form the Grandmaster of Minecraftia Julia Blankenship, a young black-haired woman with a fair skin tone and green eyes and wore a turquoise dress with dull gold trim and brown shoes with a matching turquoise and gold headband, Jonathan had been one of their most frequent clients along with several of the illegitimate rulers discovered during the war.
They don't know if any of them were related to Leah's kidnapping, but they were still investigating the matter with The Minevengers representing Minecraftia and The Wondering Coins representing Atlantide. Together the two guilds were already making progress on the investigation, with hopes that they might finally track down the fugitive former rulers of the parva alliance and their allies.
Donny sighed has he finished his report on the situation. Despite the fact that The Minevengers and The Wondering Coins had given their best efforts they hadn't gotten any leads to where Jonathan or his cohorts had fled to. He had hoped at the end of the war that they'd be caught quickly so they could stand trial for their actions. However they've continued to elude their best military units no matter how much effort they put into their attempts to capture them. Five years of this at this point and they still were on the run.
The group of old friends continued to talk for some time about their current lives and the progress on restoring their kingdoms to their former glory. It wasn't exactly easy, nor did they expect it to be. Afterall the former illegitimate rulers had damaged their kingdoms greatly. Steve and Carly were lucky as theirs was one of if not the least affected of the members of The Parva Alliance. There were others more severely affected like Magiclica was. Kelly knew that from the text and messages that Carol sent her almost daily to ask for advice on the matter. It would take years for the damage to Magiclica's economy to reach the state it was in prior to King Tomas taking control of the throne when Sofia was supposed to be in charge.
Kelly shook the thoughts of her home kingdom's current state of affairs from her mind. She wasn't a princess of Magiclica anymore. She was Queen Kathleen of Minecraftia now. All she could do to help her home kingdom was send them resources with Donnie's consent and pray for them. She then turned for a moment to see the new royal Guild Leader's table. A servant was pouring something into Ritchie's drink, and they were already almost full.
At a glance this action on its own didn't seem too suspicious, but it wasn't water that they were pouring into the flacks some kind of powder, secondly the servant in question looked unfamiliar to the young queen. Secondly she had become familiar with the staff details for the party having arrived with Donny and Leah a few days before the party. During her time here she made a point to familiarize herself with the servants in Carly and Steve's palace. During that time she had never encountered this particular servant at any time.
Which could only mean one or both of two things. One that this one was a new hire from this morning, which Kelly thought to be unlikely given the fact that she would have been aware if there was a change in the staff details for the party due to being one of the guest of honor for the party. The second being that this guy was an intruder of some kind. She immediately pointed the unknown staff member out to Steve, and he frowned.
Steve immediately saw the problem and sent some guards to detain the intruder. However unbeknown to them Ritchie and Brandon took a drink from their flasks, unaware of the situation. The intruder was caught, and the party went on for another half hour before the twin felt the effects of what was put into their drink.
Brandon was walking over to the children's area to check on Amira. Before the party Ritchie and Brandon had agreed to take turns checking on Amira every hour or so to make sure that everything was fine. At this point it had been 30 minutes since they drank from their flacks at the table. Sure enough, Amira was having fun with her new friends playing pretend. Brandon smiled at the children has he walked over.
"Hello sister, I see your having fun with your new friends." Brandon smiled happily. Amira nodded happily showing Brandon the house they built in the play area. Rosalie smiled at the interaction between the siblings happily. Brandon decided to stay for a few moments and see what the children were up to.
Things were going fine. Brandon was playing with Amira and her new friends when he suddenly paused and started to have trouble breathing. Seeing this Amira started to grow worried. "Big Brother, are you okay?" She asked worriedly. Brandon nodded and got something out of his pocket. It was a purple-colored inhaler which Brandon used.
Now normally this attack wouldn't have bothered Brandon too much. But the fact was that it had been two years since the last time he had an attack. The water he had earlier also tasted funny and despite the fact that he had used his inhaler three times now his breathing just would not return to normal… That and the fact that he was coughing up blood now.
Amira was getting scared now. She was clinging to the necklace that her brothers had given her to celebrate her starting school. It was a necklace with the main charm being the Divinus Magia guild mark. Amira held it close to her chest and repeated the name of her brother's guild three times.
A Few Months Ago
Amira remembered when Ritchie and Brandon gave her that necklace. She was sitting in her room and looking at her brothers. She had just been told that she would be starting school soon. "Brothers? I'm scared, what if that dark guild attacks my school and takes me away from you? Or our birth parents try and take me?" She asked her older brothers worriedly.
"That why we're giving us this necklace Amira. Ritchie smiled softly at his younger sister. If you say the name of our guild three times our guild marks will tell us that you're in danger and where you are. When that happens just say where you are, and we'll come get you.
"Promise big brothers?" Amira asked with a soft voice.
"Of course we do, you'll be safe has long were around." Brandon smiled.
"That's right after all, you got the Diabolus twins for older brothers, people know better than to mess with us." Ritchie smiled happily.
"Thank you big brothers, I love you." Amira smiled while giving them a hug.
"We love you too Amira." Brandon smiled. Returning the hug with his brother.
Ritchie was talking with Reaper about the guild and introducing him to his aunt and uncle. "So you're the man who helped our nephew's control their demons. Thank you for looking after them for us." Marcelina smiled at the man who took in her nephews in their time of need."
"It was no problem, they were very good students, some of the best I ever taught actually. It's a shame that their birth parents couldn't see their true potential as they were blinded by their lust and greed for power." Reaper smiled softly while frowning at the thought of the diabolus twins' birth parents.
Having been their legal guardian and eventually mandatory guild service supervisor he was aware of their past. He had heard about it from them and their therapist back then and he knew that despite the amount of progress they've made they still held scars from those days.
"Yes, it is quite a shame. Even my father and the rest of the family agreed that their children was better off in the care of me and my wife after the revelation of my brother's plan to marry Brandon off to Francesca, despite the fact that he didn't like her in the slightest. That and the way they "disciplined" them. Not that it was an effective method. I'm just glad that the Grand Royal Council Horedora saw them for who they really we're." Drake smiled at the man.
Ritchie stood watching over the conversation smiling when he felt a familiar tingle from where his guild mark was. Knowing what it meant he quickly signaled to his uncle that something was wrong. That something was wrong. Reaper and Emelia noticed this two and followed Ritchie to where Amira was with Marcelina following suit.
Ritchie immediately saw the problem. In the children's play area was Brandon in the middle of an asthma attack and coughing up blood. "Brother!" He cried out as he storm blinked to his brother's side, keeling beside him rubbing his back. The blood had stopped for a moment and Brandon tried his inhaler once more, but it failed. Ritchie frowned and turned to Rosalie. How long has this been going on for?" he asked with a frown.
"About two minutes sir. I've called for a medic but there was no response yet. I'm calling his majesty for assistance." Rosalie replies with a worried frown and tone.
Ritchie frowned at the situation but kept calm. He sent some of his magical energy into his guild mark that would allow him to call his guildmates quickly in this case it was David that he called. "David bring Mother Emelia here now. Brandon needs here help."
"On my way boss!" David shouted, sensing his panic at the situation and knowing that it was a serious one. Within seconds Emelia was there withDavid. Gasping as she saw what the situation was she quickly made here way to her son's side.
"Ritchie and David helped me get Brandon into the emergency position! Mario go and tell his majesty what's happening here." Emelia ordered in a worried tone. Ritchie and David did has they were told, and Emelia got in front of David. She then glowed blue and closed her blue eyes and opened them with red crosses taking the place of her pupils.
Looking over Brandon she saw a lot of information that she hadn't before. But what caught her attention was the "history of asthma" and "traces of unknown poison in body". Frowning at what she learned she turned to the caretaker and frowned. "Where is the medical team for this party?"
"I've made several attempts to contact them, but they aren't answering. His Majesty has sent guards to check on them and they have yet to respond. He is also raising security at this time I am waiting for his next actions has we speak."
"Alright I need you to get his majesty to let me borrow some spare medical equipment. I need an oxygen mask and a poison testing kit. Ritchie stay with your brother. Amira stay with Marcelina and Drake." Emelia ordered before turning to Ritchie. "Ritchie I need you to tell me about Brandon's asthma, how long has he had it for?"
"He started having attacks after we got our Lacriamas got forced into us. They started out being a frequent thing during our evil days and eventually, after Father Reaper took us in we found out that the cause of his attacks were our bodies rejecting our magics. Once we managed to start controlling our demons. Thankfully after he adjusted our seals it became less frequent and eventually stopped all together. This is the first attack he's had in two years." Reaper and Anglia nodded having been present during some of those episodes.
"Then what could have brought it back?" Emelia thought with a frown going back into the medical sight she remembered something. Turning back to Ritchie she asked him if his connection to Brandon was working okay. Only to see that he was frozen in place. Reaper immediately recognized what was going to happen and moved him to the floor only for him to start having a seizure.
Anglia recognizing this frowned. "Frist Brandon, now Ritchie too? How in the world is this possible?" She frowned looking at her grandchildren. Normally they never had an episode at the same time. In the same day it was possible but never at the same time. She was torn form her thoughts when Marcelina panicked tone reached her ears. Asking why Ritchie was having the seizure in the first place.
"With Ritchie since his magic is lightning based unlike Brandon's which is air based. The side effects of the lacriama being forced into him manifested into seizures rather than asthma attacks like they did for Brandon. What could have caused it to come back though?" She explained to her daughter with a frown.
"I don't know but I'm seeing traces of poison in their blood. It appears that they have the same poison in them, but I don't know what kind it is." Emelia started with a frown of her own. Just then Steve had arrived at the area with Carly and a bunch of elite Atlantide guardsmen. Seeing the situation before him he turned to his men.
"Listen well, these orders are to be followed to the letter. Elite Squads One through Five secure the ball room. None are to leave until they are cleared. Squad Six escort all guests of honor to their rooms. Squad Seven I want a report of the whereabouts of all staff, faculty members and guard's men. Squad eight go to the medical room and completed a full check of everyone that was supposed during the party and the medical staff that were supposed to be here for the party. Squad Nine Guard the dungeon wing and make there the dungeon guards have 24-hour watch on the intruder we found earlier. Clyde go up to the stage and tell everyone what's happening. After that call the Wolf's Claw guild to come and investigate.
