Chapter 38

The tension between Inuyasha and Kagome is quite awkward to say at the least. Not just that, Kagome's is still recovering for her ordeal after being possessed by Kikyo. There's no way that it'd be able to get this situation taken care of. It's just too much to her.

Inuyasha can see how she's shaken. "Kagome…" He spoke softly as he sits next to her on her bedside. "I'm so sorry Inuyasha." Kagome tries her best to relax when she tries to say something as well as keeping her eyes tightly closed. "About what? You didn't do anything wrong." Inuyasha takes hold of her trembling shoulder to calm her down.

Kagome shakes her head, "It's not that. It was when I didn't believe about the whole mate thing." Inuyasha can see it now. Kagome was doing everything she could not to accept the reality about being his mate. She barely knows him when they met at school. And yet somehow, she felt that she could rely on him in a pinch. But she just doesn't understand why she was his chosen mate in the first place.

"The thing is that I was against this mate issue as well. I didn't get it when my parents told me about it. I didn't want to do anything with it. We're just teenagers at this point and we're not supposed to be in that position. I did everything in my mind to prevent from doing something that I might regret." Inuyasha agrees with her.

Kagome looks to him. "But why me of all of the other girls? What do I have that they don't?" She asks him curiously. "The answer is that it's fate. You have no control of that. Neither could I. I wanted to deny it all, but karma is a bitch and it really did." Inuyasha takes a hold of her hands that out of the blankets and laces his fingers with hers.

Kagome smiles as new tears for in her chocolate brown eyes. "So there's no need for me to explain the reason behind the whole mating thing?" She assumes to him. Inuyasha smiles back. "Not one detail needs to be mentioned at all. Not even a love letter in the locker." Inuyasha presses his forehead to her own. Just feeling the touch between the two seems normal for once. Inuyasha uses his other hand to tilt Kagome's chin and press his lips onto hers. Kagome doesn't mind the kiss on bit. As she can tell that this was her secret admirer who wanted to be with her regardless of any thing that could happen to either of them.
