If you follow me as an author here on ffnet, you probably already know that I'm wrapping up my unfinished stories with short summaries of where I originally planned to take them. Unfortunately RL no longer allows me to spend hours upon hours writing fan fiction, sadly. Rather than letting these stories sit here hanging, I want to just provide some closure and mark them as completed.
Thank you to everyone who has read my stories. I am grateful for your support over the years and I am truly sorry I cannot give these stories the treatment they deserve.
The next morning, Ichigo wakes up to find Grimmjow already in the kitchen discussing the case with Urahara. Grimmjow has cut and dyed his hair and is wearing colored contact lenses to change his appearance.
Urahara reveals that he has found out that Nnoitra has a nephew who lives with him, and offers his old Jeep for Grimmjow's use. When Grimmjow asks how he managed to find the information and why he is helping him, Urahara evades the question and says that he simply hates injustice as much as Grimmjow does.
Ichigo struggles with his decision to remain at Urahara's while Grimmjow departs for Nnoitra's house. Urahara eventually convinces him to follow by saying that a grieving teen would probably be more likely to respond better to Ichigo than someone as intimidating as Grimmjow.
At Nnoitra's house, Ichigo encounters the nephew, Tesla, hiding in a recycle bin behind the house. As it turns out, Tesla had assumed that Grimmjow was the one responsible for Nnoitra's death and was now here to finish him off. Ichigo manages to persuade him to give Grimmjow a chance and hear him out. They return to the house and opens the front door, surprising Grimmjow.
Once they are seated in the living room and Grimmjow explains his visit, Tesla brings out a box that his uncle had given him and gives them a usb drive. As it turns out, Nnoitra had had a bad feeling about his fate and, as a precaution, had given the evidence to his nephew.
Ichigo and Grimmjow return to Kisuke's place with the thumb drive. With Kisuke's help, they decrypt the file and watch a grainy surveillance video of the two men in the holding cell. The video shows them pacing in the cell, arguing with each other. The audio is too distorted for them to make out the words, but they can tell that one is more agitated and seems afraid.
Then, just shy of the two minute mark, the door to the holding cell opens. But before they can make out the person at the door, the video ends abruptly. In the folder where the video file is, is an encrypted text file which contains an address. Grimmjow guesses that it will lead them to the next piece of evidence and plans to leave immediately.
After some consideration, Ichigo decides to go with Grimmjow. Grimmjow refuses to take him and they argue, but in the end relents. They borrow Kisuke's car once more and set off for the address.
It is a city a few hours' drive away, and since it is already late in the evening, they decide to stop at a motel along the way. They get a room, and against his better judgment, Ichigo shares another night of passion with Grimmjow.
The next morning, they arrive at their destination. To their surprise, it is an orphanage. They meet the administrator, Orihime, who recognizes Ulquiorra's name and is devastated to learn of his death. She was once a victim of human trafficking and Ulquiorra had saved her—happened before Grimmjow became his partner. She brings out a box which contains another usb drive.
Back at Kisuke's place, they watch the second surveillance video clip. Grimmjow is shocked to recognize Tousen as the one who enters the cell and murders the two prisoners. He believes that his name is now clear and wants to contact his superior right away. Kisuke cautions him to consider the consequences of this discovery, saying that if it were this straightforward, Ulquiorra would have already gone to the higher ups with this evidence. Tousen was probably not acting alone and there might be other dirty cops. But Grimmjow is too shaken by this and over eager to clear his name that he dismisses Kisuke's warning.
Grimmjow calls his superior, Aizen, to tell him that he knows who had killed Ulquiorra and that he has evidence proving who is the dirty cop. Aizen urges him to meet. Saying that reviewing the evidence is urgent and cannot wait for the red tape of the process clearing of Grimmjow's name, Aizen arranges for them to meet at a safe house.
Kisuke once again tries to stop Grimmjow from going to the meeting, but Grimmjow is too stubborn to listen. This time, he refuses to bring Ichigo with him and leaves without Ichigo.
Ichigo wrestles with his own emotions, frightened by his own attachment to Grimmjow, but in the end decides to follow Grimmjow secretly. He slips out without Kisuke's knowledge—or so he thinks—and tails Grimmjow to his meeting by "borrowing" Kisuke's other car without permission.
Arriving at the safe house, Ichigo sneaks in through the backdoor by picking the lock, a trick that he picked up from Kisuke. He hides behind the wall and listens to Aizen and Grimmjow's conversation. Something about Aizen is giving him a bad vibe and he decides to stay hidden. Aizen is apologetic for putting Grimmjow through this situation, and then just as Grimmjow begins to relax and thinks that this ordeal is over, Aizen makes a phone call to ask someone to come to the safe house and help resolve the problem.
That someone turns out to be Tousen. Aizen then reveals that he is actually the leader of a network of bad cops. He wants control of the city's drug empire for the riches and power it will bring him.
Before Grimmjow can react, Tousen shoots him in the arm. Grimmjow is injured but manages to kill Tousen in the ensuing gun fight, but not before he takes a gunshot to his chest. In the chaos, he loses track of Aizen.
As Grimmjow collapses and tries to catch his breath, Aizen puts a gun to the back of his head. Grimmjow pretends to surrender, and then fights back. Aizen's gun is knocked out of his hand and slides across the room to Ichigo's hiding place.
Ichigo has been on the phone trying to call for help, but there is no line and he is not able to make the call. He stares at the gun.
Because of his injuries, Grimmjow begins to lose the fight against Aizen. Aizen strangles him from behind, and Grimmjow is close to passing out when Ichigo picks up Aizen's gun and shoots Aizen.
As Ichigo rushes over to Grimmjow, the door to the safe house bursts open and backup finally arrives. Turns out Kisuke had used his car's tracking system to track them down once he realized Ichigo was gone. He reveals that he actually used to be in law enforcement—now a secret consultant—and had pulled some strings with his contacts to mount this rescue mission.
The ordeal is over for real this time. Grimmjow's name is cleared, and he is rushed to the hospital. He has a collapsed lung and his arm is critically injured. He passes out after squeezing Ichigo's hand and thanking him for saving his life.
Six months later, Ichigo's life is back to normal. He has now published his first manga and is starting to make a name for himself.
It is Thanksgiving day, and they are gathering at his father's home for a feast. He helps Yuzu prepare the dishes and sets the table.
The front door opens and two visitors arrive. It is Kisuke and Grimmjow. Because of his injury, Grimmjow is no longer able to return to his previous position. He loathes paperwork and would not settle for being assigned to a desk job. He now works for Kisuke.
Ichigo and Grimmjow embrace and share a kiss. Isshin makes a scene with Masaki's poster while Karin yells for them to get a room. Laughing, they all sit at the table and Thanksgiving dinner begins.
The end.
