Chapter 8

I was on top of a building once more. The wind was blowing through my hair and around my body. I was utterly stunned, standing on top of the building, wondering what I was doing there. I slowly sat down, trying to process what was going on. I somehow went from the ground up to the top of a huge skyscraper.

I wiped my hand across my forehead, sweat forming on my brow. Whatever got me up here took a lot of energy as I felt exhausted. I thought about what the doctor told me about the powers I had. Flames, teleportation, hardening, and a fourth one was the sludge power. Oh, and the one that he didn't know what it was. The one I used must have been teleportation, and I thought back.

Emotions activated the green flames. Maybe it would do the same for teleportation. I focused on what I was feeling at that exact moment I teleported. I had felt great fear, and I focused on my childhood. All the fear I felt from the threats from kaachan and the horror I faced from the sludge villain attack.

I felt a cold rush like before as I focused on where I wanted to go. To where I first discovered my fire quirk and burned my first victim. I forced my eyes open to see myself surrounded by what looked horrifically similar to the sludge villain. I kept focusing on where I wanted to go, just like I learned from a teleportation hero a few years back. Stay focused on where you want to teleport, and you should appear there.

I suddenly appeared right in the alleyway as I tried to get a grip on my powers. I focused on my anger once more, activating my flames and preparing myself for the fight of my life, the second one anyway. I ran out into the streets and focused on "his" face as I cried out at the top of my lungs, engulfing the whole road in my green flames.

I burned everyone in that street to a crisp as some from a side alley came charging toward me as I pulled out my knife. I focused on my fear of this situation and teleported behind one, stabbing the villain in the back. I teleported behind the rest of them and ran down the alley they came down.

I panted as I looked around, checking for more enemies. "It seems like the coast is clear for now, but who knows how long. I need to think up a plan before they come after me." I ran down some of the back alleys until I bumped into something massive and fell over. The giant had almost killed me earlier, and I started to shake, wanting to getaway.

I slowly breathed and tried to gather up some courage to face this giant of a man. He laughed and swatted at me, and I stabbed his arm. He screamed in pain as he hit me, and I got slammed against the wall coughing up blood. I looked at the brute through water-filled eyes, and I stood back up, and when he attacked, I thrust my hand forward, closing my eyes.

Suddenly, I heard him gasp and choke, falling over. I opened my eyes and saw him lying on the ground. Then I looked down at my arm, and it was a spike made from what seemed to be the sludge from the portal!
