Surprisingly enough, I don't own one piece. I also don't own shadow of war or any of the gods represented in the fanfic outside of Kozuka who's based on Aqua. Yh and Natas are mine as well.
So some news, I plan on switching upload times to the first of every month. I figured I should work on life a bit. New game, New life will still be every two weeks though. I'm only writing 5k words for that so it's easy.

Bridd: If you got this far, you likely realized I don't do the music thing anymore. Anything else you think I could improve on? God I hope this doesn't sound mean. It's a genuine question because I'm lacking a lot but need specifics.
"Nami!" Everyone shouted as they rushed over to her.
Nami was breathing and sweating heavily. "I'm fine guys, just a little dizzy."
"Kaya what's going on?" Ryushi asked.
Kaya felt her pulse before flipping through some pages of a nurse book. "I don't know what this is, I've never seen this sickness before. Then again I don't have much experience but I don't recognize it."
"We need to move her to a bed." Vivi told them.
Nami stood up fully, a little wobbly on her feet. "I told you guys, I'm fine. Just a little dizzy." The orange lightning surrounding her body started to crackle irregularly. A second later she fell to the floor unconscious.
"Someone, take her to the room." Kaya sighed. "Ryushi, do you have any medicinal plants in the garden? I can't cure her but I should be able to slow the effects."
"Um yea, though there are only a few of each kind. It's likely that taking them out could cause the rest to die out." Ryushi explained.
"Well pick them." Kaya glared. "It's better for some plants to die than it is for Nami to do so."
"What's the problem anyways? She's a wraith, she'll be back by tomorrow." Ryushi complained. One more glare and Ryushi threw his arms up. "I understand, I'll go get them."
"Sanji, I'm sure you were already on the way but please make her some food. Something easy to digest." Kaya ordered. "She's quite strong so regardless of the sickness she should still be able to move at least a bit."
Sanji nodded. "Anything to make sure Nami is ok."
Mikita patted him on the back. "Let's go lover boy, I'll help you out. I can cut vegetables or boil water, I have at least some skills outside of chocolate." The two then headed off towards the kitchen.
"Vivi, are there doctors in Alabasta? How long would it take for us to get there?" Kaya asked her.
"It'll probably take a week or so." Vivi told her.
"She won't last that long." Keres intruded.
Kaya looked over at her. "How do you know?"
"The one thing I've inherited from my parents were their eyes. My mother is a doctor, I have a good eye for disease. I can tell how much time someone has left to live, with diseases it's quite easy. At this rate, she has a bit less than a week." Keres explained.
"We'll have to find her a doctor right away." Usopp added in.
Nami burst open the room door. "No, we can't do that!"
Zoro tried to calm her down. "You should probably rest Nami."
"There's a newspaper on top of my desk, Alabasta has reached a critical stage. We have to keep going." Nami told them.
Vivi immediately ran past Nami to find the newspaper. After reading the paper she left the room with a haunted look on her face.
"Don't worry about it guys." Nami told them. "Keres is probably just off a bit, I'm sure I can survive until Alabasta. If need be I could try and reset my heart with electricity if I do pass out." She then paused. "There's a wind up ahead. Change directions."
A moment later a huge cyclone hit the surface of the ocean they were sailing towards, shocking everyone. "We need to find a doctor so we can get to Alabasta as fast as possible." Vivi decided. "We can't have Nami sick the whole way there, we're more than likely to get lost. Let's keep heading south and find a doctor."
Nami smiled. "Thanks Vivi, I'm going to go lay down."
1 day later.
"Uh guys." Zoro called. "Do you think there are others capable of standing on the ocean, outside of Jay and Kura?"
"What are you talking about Zoro? They said they were the only ones, they learned it from their master. Unless Kosami trained other people, then they're the only ones." Sanji told him.
"Then, how do you explain that?" Zoro asked.
Out on the ocean was a man dressed in a full fursuit. "Quite cold today, isn't it?"
At that moment the sea seemed to shake as a ship rose from its depths. "It's a ship!" Ryushi shouted as a pirate flag emerged showing a skull with a crown.
"Mahahaha!" A man laughed. "Surprised? Has my submersible Ambush-ship "Tin can King" left you speechless?"
"A pirate ship!" Zoro readied his blades but they were already surrounded.
"Well that happened." Mikita frowned. "So what do we do now?"
Kaya looked at Vivi while stabilizing Nami. "Vivi make sure you keep the room warm."
"I just learned this ability yesterday, maybe give me some time to practice." Vivi sighed as she filtered her ash to the corners of the rooms keeping the area hot.
"I'll go see what's going on." Sanji told them as he left the room and guns pointed at him immediately. "Mind explaining this."
"We got ambushed." Luffy told him.
"Yeah that's what I figured." Sanji lit his cigarette. "Damn and we're kinda in a hurry."
"From the looks of it, that makes 7 people in total." The iron mouthed man said as he bit through a knife of meat. "Let me ask you something."
"I'm sorry but talking ain't for me." Keres let blood flow out of her body wrapping around her feet. "Bloody stride." Within moments she had moved across the ship and held her chained glaive to the leader's throat.
Zoro smirked. "Yea, we might as well fight. They're already here." Zoro's sword was set ablaze as he cut the surrounding area around him and the bodies began to burn.
"Holding a blade to my throat?" The leader asked Keres. His mouth opened up as he bit into Keres's blade but instead of going through it, his teeth shattered.
Luffy jumped from his place on the ship and threw his arms back. "Leave my ship! Gum gum!" He yelled as he brought them back in. "Bazooka!"
Immediately Wapol was flung from the ship, much to the panic of his men. "Your majesty!" They yelled as their ship turned around and went after him. The men left on the ship looked at us for a few seconds before voluntarily jumping off the ship.
"You think they'll freeze to death?" Sanji asked.
"Probably, but that ain't much of our problem now is it?" Ryushi answered. "Those guys Zoro burned jumped off a while ago, they're probably the only ones that made it. Though I'm assuming those burns are gonna keep them out of the fight."
Zoro smirked. "You're welcome."
"Hey guys, anyone else notice it's been pretty cold lately. What happened to the grand line's mood swings?" Sanji asked. "The weather hasn't changed all day."
"Oh that's because there's a winter island nearby, if I remember correctly it should be called whiskey peak. A doctor I knew created the town, though he's long dead by now." Ryushi told them.
Sanji's head turned slowly until he was sending a death glare at Ryushi. A moment later there was a thud as Ryushi hit the floor and Sanji stood over him. "Maybe you should've told us that earlier, you fucking dumbass. Mikita dear, could you help me with something?" He asked sweetly.
Mikita grinned. "I'd love to." She walked over and sat down on top of Ryushi.
"Wait, no you don't have to do this." Ryushi sputtered out in a panic.
"10,000 kilogram press!" She shouted as her weight increased, pressing Ryushi deeper into the ship.
Zoro shot him a look of pity. "I can barely lift that myself, 15 tons is my maximum right now. I can't imagine how much that must hurt."
"P-Please get up, I can barely breathe. Y-You're going to kill me." Ryushi complained through labored breaths.
Kaya opened the door to Nami's room with a look at Ryushi before smirking. "But you're a wraith, I'm sure you'll be back tomorrow."
Ryushi looked at her in horror. "I've already died 5 times." Immediately his breath came to a halt and he passed out.
"If his heart stops beating, I'm not gonna be the one to give him cpr." Keres turned to look out over the sea and saw something in the distance. "Guys! We got an island coming up!"
"A meltwater waterfall." Vivi announced. "We should be able to dock our ship around here."
"So, who's going to go look for a doctor?" Zoro asked. "That's assuming people live on this island."
"I think most of us want to go." Kaya said. "Ryushi, and Luffy. You two should carry Nami."
Ryushi and Luffy nodded. A moment later Ryushi morphed into a prowler and glanced at Luffy. "Put her on my back." He told him as he enlarged himself to have room for her. Prowlers are creatures that vary in size. The smallest being the size of a cat and the biggest being capable of such a feat.
"Stop right there, Pirates!" The man in the lead yelled. "You will turn around immediately and leave this island at once."
"We can't do that." Kaya told them. "There's a sick girl on board that needs medical attention."
"Like we would believe anything you filthy pirates have to say." The leader spat. "Leave this island."
Nami staggered out of the room. "It's alright guys, if they don't want us here. We should just leave, we have to save Vivi's country and get Kura back."
"No!" Luffy shouted. "If we leave now, you'll die."
Nami smiled. "I'll be back, one death is nothing."
Vivi bowed her head. "Please help her, she'll die by the end of the week if you don't."
"That isn't our problem, how do we know you won't attack us after helping you?" One of the men asked. "Pirates aren't exactly the thankful kind."
Ryushi took a step forward, a growl rising in his throat. "I don't think you have a choice." He told them as he transformed back into his human form. "I can tell you're all weak, you don't want this to turn into a fight."
Luffy held out his arm in front of Ryushi. "We won't fight them, we need a doctor." Luffy looked back to Dalton. "I swear on our Jolly Roger, we won't attack you without reason."
The leader sighed. "My name is Dalton, I'm the unofficial leader of this group. We'll lead you to our town."
As the crew entered the town, Dalton began to speak. "This is the town of Bighorn, we were ruled by a king by the name of Wapol."
"That's where I remember him." Vivi exclaimed. "That man we met earlier was Wapol."
Dalton nodded. "He's a horrible king. He banished all but our twenty best doctors from the island. For any medical treatment, we were forc d to beg him for the help of one of his remaining doctors. He called them the Isshi-20." They eventually made it to Dalton's house and set Nami down on the bed as Dalton started the fire. "One day a powerful pirate named Blackbeard attacked the country. After witnessing Blackbeard's power, that coward Wapol and the people closest to him fled the city. I was a part of his personal guard but I chose to stay back and help the town. When Wapol fled, he took the doctors with him."
Keres slammed her hands on the table. "They had doctors on that ship and we went right past them, are there no other doctors here?"
"There's one, though the likelihood of her coming down today isn't very high. She comes into the towns randomly to check for patients. Dr. Kureha, they call her a witch. She lives in Drum Castle, which is on top of that mountain over there." Dalton pointed at the tallest drum shaped mountain. "If you want to find her, you'll have to make your way up there."
"I'll go!" Luffy declared. "I'll take her up the mountain."
"What?! That's stupid!" Vivi complained.
"Well it's the only option we have." Kaya told her. "He has to go."
"I'm going with you." Sanji decided.
"Well I personally have no problem staying here." Usopp folded his arms and sat down.
"Where's Ryushi?" Zoro asked. "He needs to be here to carry her."
Vivi sighed. "Well if you guys are going, I'm going too. Sanji, Luffy and I can get her up there."
"I'll go look around the island." Mikita offered. "Find out where Ryushi went."
"We can't take Vivi with us." Sanji told Luffy. "She might get hurt."
"I'm the only one that can keep her warm. She taught me how to use my ash, I should use it to help her." Vivi told him.
"Let her come, Sanji." Luffy ordered. A moment later the four had left the house.
"Hello there." Ryushi greeted as he kissed a girl on the hand. "It's nice to meet you, what's a cute girl like you doing out here in the cold?"
"Hey get away from her, you fucking monster!" A man yelled.
"What? Monster! What makes me a monster?" Ryushi asked.
"I saw you, you turned into some weird giant reptile. You're a monster like that tanuki that travels with the witch!" The man accused.
The girl upon hearing this, immediately backed up. "M-Monster? I knew that hair wasn't natural." The two civilians turned and ran away leaving Ryushi on his own.
"Seems there's a devil fruit user here with a bad rep." Ryushi sighed.
"Hey there Gardener. I finally found you." Mikita smirked. "Your date got away, though I gotta admit you had her in the first half. Must be that exotic hair of yours, it is quite alluring."
"What the hell do you want, Newbie? Are you here to make fun or did you come here for a reason?"
"I told the captain I'd come find you, now though I'm just here to make fun." Mikita laughed. "It's strange really, you're some kind of reptile weirdo from the past. What is a man like you still doing alive? Surely someone would've hunted you down."
"It's kind of a long story, not something I'd waste my time explaining. Now how about we change the subject, currently I'm missing out on a date. Would you like to join me today?" Ryushi offered.
"Honestly, I'd rather not. I end up killing the people that cheat on me, I can tell you would." Mikita walked off towards a neighboring town. "You're welcome to join me though, I'm going to go explore the island. It'd be nice to have a punching bag at my side."
Ryushi smiled. "I like you already, a shame you're not interested. I'll go with you, maybe somewhere along the way I can find a woman to take seriously."
"On this island? You'd be lucky to find a woman that can fight." Mikita lightened her weight as she dashed off.
Ryushi morphed into the prowler and ran after her. "I can guarantee one thing!" He shouted. "When I find a girl, she'll be at least twice as strong as you."
"Yea, I guess we'll see."
"So Luffy, how do you decide who joins the crew?" Vivi asked.
"If I like them, they join." Luffy told her simply.
Sanji smirked. "Yea, he even resorts to force in some cases."
"Also, Jay likes to invite people in too. Ryushi was his invite, I just let him do it. I don't really know him that well, I'll have to talk to him. Need to see if he's a good guy."
Vivi sighed. "Why does being a pirate have to sound so fun? Wow, that's something I'd never thought I'd say."
"Why don't you join?" Sanji asked.
Vivi shook her head. "Nami already asked me that. I don't have time to be a pirate. Even after saving my country I have to be there for its people. Maybe if I can learn how to use my devil fruit fully, I can be the country's protector."
"Let's pick up the pace." Luffy told them. "We need to hurry up."
Vivi turned her head as the three started jogging. "So are we not going to do anything about the weird rabbit following us?"
"I got it." Sanji declared as he turned around and kicked it away. "We should be fine now."
"Why did you kick it!" Vivi shouted as they were surrounded by huge bear-like rabbits.
"Run!" Sanji yelled. "We can't risk hurting Nami."
The group ran as they continued to be attacked by the lapahns. Vivi transferred her ash from Nami and flooded the area creating a smokescreen made of ash.
As the three continued to run, they saw the lapahns stop their assault allowing Vivi to recall the ash. "They stopped." Vivi announced.
All the lapahns began to jump. "What are they doing?" Luffy asked.
"Wait, don't tell me…" Sanji began. "We need to run now! They're trying to start an avalanche!"
The group turned around and ran as a rumble could be heard and a mass of snow began falling down the mountain. "We can't risk Nami getting hit, I'll handle it." Vivi told them as ash began swirling around her body and building up.
"How are you gonna stop an avalanche?" Sanji asked incredulously.
"With ash, I'll create a shield of ash to stop it." Vivi gathered as much ash as she could, creating a giant shield from the substance covering the path of the avalanche. "Ash wall!" As the snow collapsed into the Ash, it began to melt quickly and slowly evaporated as it turned to water and disappeared. 5 minutes later the assault ended and Vivi passed out.
"Vivi!" Sanji yelled as he ran to her. "Luffy, you'll have to head up on your own. I have to take Vivi back to rest, will you be able to handle it?"
Luffy nodded as he pulled a lapahn out of the ash. "I'll take care of Nami." He told him as he marched off towards the mountain.
Eventually Luffy had reached the base of the mountain. "Woah! It's so tall, how do I get up there?" Luffy began glancing around the area seeing nothing but the white snow and the huge mountain.
On his back Nami began to stir. "Luffy." She whispered. "It's so cold, what's going on? Where are we?"
"It's alright Nami, I made it to the mountain. Now we just have to make it up there, I'll just climb." He told her cheerily.
"What mountain? Why is it so cold?" She asked.
"It's the doctor, she's up there. Hold on, I'll get you up there." Luffy took off his coat and his hat, placing them on Nami. "Is it still cold? That should be warm enough."
Nami smiled. "Thanks Luffy." A moment later she drifted off to sleep.
Luffy shivered. "It's so cold."
3 hours later.
"Almost at the top." Luffy pressed on. His hands were numb to the pain and his fingers were beginning to slip. With every hand he put forward he felt a burning pain. He looked up and saw the top of the mountain. "I'm almost there." He began to chant about saving her when a thought came to mind. "If only Kura was here. She could've at least warmed the area up. Jay would've been able to find a better way to get up here, or he could've found out where the doctor was hiding." Luffy's hands began to bleed and his chest was red from the cold. Maybe offering Nami his jacket was a bad idea. "Just hang in there, Nami. We're almost there."
A moment later Luffy finally reached the top and stared up at a giant snow castle. Luffy crawled forward until he sat beneath the castle. "Such a grand castle, I need a doctor."
Chopper Pov.
He stood hiding behind the door that was the entrance to the castle. Well whether or not it could be called hiding was up for debate. As it stood, half his body hung outside the door leaving him in plain sight. Somehow the reindeer learned to hide backwards and assumed it was effective. He sat there hiding as he saw the human crawl up to the castle doors with something on his back.
"Doctor." He heard the man whisper.
"What doctor?" Chopper swooned. "I'm barely an apprentice stupid." He said with a huge smile on his face.
The young man in front of him passed out. "Ahhh! Doctor!" Chopper shouted. "He's dead, someone go get a doctor. We need a doctor."
Doctor Kureha hit him across the head. "We're the doctors, dumbass! Now pick those two up and bring them inside."
"Oh right." Chopper realized. "What are they doing here anyways?" Chopper asked.
"They must've climbed the mountain to find us, we're doctors after all. If only they waited a bit longer, we were supposed to go check on the villagers right about now." Kureha sighed as Chopper picked up the two teens and brought them inside the castle.
Keres and Zoro walked along the path embedded in the snow. "So how about some winter endurance training?" Zoro offered.
"Sure, there wasn't any snow on that dark island with my father. I do need to get used to it. Though before we begin, here." Keres threw her Yubashiri to him. "I can't use a sword, the past month proved that to me. I'd like to give this back to you, focus on improving your skill. Stop relying on the supreme blade, once you improve individually you'll be much stronger together."
"Are you saying that I'm weak without it?" Zoro asked.
"Yep, it's obvious really. Our crew hasn't been in any tough fights, not unless we fight each other. Even back there on Little Garden, you slept through it but no one there showed any actual strength. Unlike most of you, I'm aware of how strong the people in this world are. If you plan to surpass my father, you need to train your swordsmanship to the max. Learn to become deadly even when using nothing but a kitchen knife." Keres let blood flow out around her. "When I ate this devil fruit I learned a few things, all the methods of death on the battlefield invaded my head. One of the main things I've seen is the reliance on a weapon. Warriors who lost their weapons and died in that vulnerability."
"That isn't a problem for me." Zoro told her. "I own three blades, I'll always have at least one to use."
"Maybe, but if your Lunaria isn't in your arsenal your fighting power drops by half. Draw those three blades and come at me. Let's see if you can fight a devil fruit user without the use of your strongest blade." Keres prepped her chained glaives waiting for Zoro to make his move.
2 hours later.
"You done?" Keres asked, panting lightly.
"I have one too many cuts, you win. That devil fruit of yours is annoying." Zoro rolled in the snow letting it seep into his wounds to numb the pain. "You only won because that stupid thing, what kind of devil fruits gives someone control over blood. Though I guess if there's one there's likely others."
"We should probably get going, that's enough training for today. How about we head back to Bighorn village, see if we can find some food?" Keres offered.
"Sounds good. More importantly I need a new coat, I don't know why you decided to cut through the only one I had. It's freezing out here, though I guess I can treat it as extended training."
"Sorry about that, you can use mine if you want." She said, holding out her coat.
"Thanks but that's a little too small for me, my chest would still be exposed so there's really no point." Zoro smirked. "Besides, we can't have the pretty little princess getting cold."
"Call me a princess one more time and I'm cutting you." Keres warned.
"Sorry princess, let's get going. I'm still hungry." Zoro turned around and walked off but not before getting a cut across his torso.
Back at Bighorn village. "You guys need to leave." Dalton told the army that surrounded him. Sanji took up a defensive position in front of Dalton's house where Vivi was still resting. Kaya and Usopp had higher vantage points ready to shoot should a fight break out. Ryushi stood at Dalton's side and Mikita took a seat on top of one of the houses.
"Hey what's going on?" Keres asked as she entered the town with Zoro at her side.
"These soldiers won't leave the village, Wapol is back and he told them to attack us. They haven't made a move yet and have been trying to get us to leave." One of the villagers told him.
"Is that so?" Zoro looked at the men noticing the green coats they all had on. "Those look quite comfortable."
"Fine, if you really plan on defending this village, don't be mad when you end up dead!" One of the soldiers shouted as they took a shot at Dalton. Immediately, Usopp and Kaya started a counter fire as Mikita jumped from the rooftop.
"Kyahahaha! I've been looking to crush some weaklings." She laughed as she landed on a group of soldiers with a 10,000 kilogram press that upturned the soft snow upon impact.
Ryushi turned into a prowler and started jumping around the battlefield clawing through all the soldiers. A group of soldiers rushed at Dalton's house but was countered by swift kicks from Sanji that put them all down. Keres pulled out her glaives surrounding the area in blood while slashing through the soldiers and drawing more and using it against them.
Zoro smirked as he knocked a soldier out with his bare hands, choosing not to draw his swords on people so weak. "Mind if I take this coat off you? It's chilly out here."
After 10 minutes, the soldiers were defeated but Wapol was nowhere to be found. "So how about telling me where he went?" Ryushi asked as he let cursed energy fall from his hands.
"I don't know, the king said he was going back home!" The man panicked. "He might be going back to the castle, I really don't know anything."
Ryushi began patting the man on his head. "Good boy, a dog like you deserves a treat." Ryushi flooded the man with cursed energy with a grin on his face. "You will be bound to this island, never able to leave. Cursed with the job of taking care of its residents for you and all of your future descendants."
"You can curse someone's lineage?" Keres asked.
"I can do all kinds of curses, now if only I can find my other devil fruit. If I get that I can combine my curses with energy allowing me to manipulate its form. If I can become a dragon, cursed flames are only a step away." Ryushi smiled. "Then I can prove to my parents that I'm not as weak as they thought, I want to become someone they can be proud of before I see them in hell."
"Not very confident about your chances in heaven?" Keres followed up.
Ryushi let the man fall unconscious, upon waking up he'd be a different man. "With my personality, I'd be lucky to get on the good side of any deity."
Keres clenched her blades. "I'm likely to become a soldier in hell's army, based on my devil fruit. I just hope it doesn't take control of me, these kinds of fruits are strange. If it offers some semblance of immortality, why is it that the past users died. Another thing, when I sleep I see glimpses of memories that don't belong to me. It's likely that a user adds power to a fruit upon death, cursed to follow the next user in their life."
Ryushi looked thoughtful. "If that's the case, the only way to talk to my parents is through Jay and Kura. I just hope that they don't start seeing me as their child through some messed up memory sharing thing." Ryushi began walking back towards Dalton's house. "It was nice talking to you Princess, I got a few more things to think about now."
Keres sighed. "You better not start calling me that too, I'd have to kill you and that sword obsessed peasant."
Nami blinked open her eyes as she woke up in a warm room. She heard the sound of tiny feet hitting the floor, though the sound made it seem like they were made of stone. "Who's there?" A loud crash could be heard directly to her side as she saw what appeared to be a tanuki hiding behind the door though it wasn't doing much hiding. "You realize you're facing the wrong way right?" The tanuki shuffled around till only his head could be seen. "I mean, I already know you're there."
"Shut up, you stupid human. H-How's your fever?" He asked as a woman barged through the door pushing him outside.
Chopper stood up and dusted himself off. "The doctorine should be fine on her own." He began walking away when he felt someone's stares. He turned around slowly to see a salivating Luffy staring at him.
"It's a walking piece of meat." Luffy whispered dangerously. "Too bad Sanji isn't here, he could've cooked it for me. Oh well, I'm sure cooking it over a fire would be fine."
Chopper looked at him with terrified eyes as he thought of the quickest way out of there. "I'm not a piece of meat." Chopper said slowly, trying to calm the hungry pirate down.
"It can talk." Luffy said, mystified. "It must be special, it probably tastes really good." At that point Chopper took off running. "Get back here you piece of meat!"
"Ahhh!" Chopper screamed as he ran back into the room with the two girls. "Doctorine, help! He's trying to eat me."
"Just one bite!" Luffy yelled as he burst in after him, chomping down on Chopper's leg.
Tears fell from Chopper's eyes due to the pain. "Please get him off me."
Nami smiled. "Luffy."
Luffy looked up with a bright smile. "Oh hey Nami, you're finally up. Are you alright?"
"I'm great, thank you. Now would you like to explain why you're biting the poor creature?" She asked.
"I'm a reindeer." Chopper whispered.
Luffy looked confused. "It looks delicious, why wouldn't I bite it?"
Nami's eyes began to glow orange as lightning crackled around her body. "Let him go."
"But I'm hungry." Luffy whined.
Nami sighed. "Fine, if you don't let him go, you're not getting anymore tangerines. You also won't be allowed any sweets for a week."
Luffy's teeth slowly left Chopper's leg as he sat back in a pout. "You're so mean."
Luffy looked up at the older lady. "You're a doctor right? Join my crew!"
Kureha laughed. "I'm too old for that, you two are pirates?"
"Yea!" Luffy beamed. "My crew needs a doctor, it'd be bad if someone else got sick." As Luffy said this his eyes coasted back over to Chopper. "Wait you're a reindeer right, why don't you look like one." Kureha went on to explain about Chopper's past and the reason behind his strange form. Luffy's eyes turned to stars. "That's so cool! Join my crew, it'll be fun."
"B-But I'm-" Chopper started.
"You even double as an emergency food supply." Luffy said happily.
Chopper bulked up and slammed Luffy into the floor. "I'm not your food!" He shouted as he ran out the room.
"Wait! Come back here reindeer!" Luffy yelled running after him. "I won't eat you unless there's nothing else to eat!" He promised.
"Hey! You need to get back in bed, you're still injured!" Kureha ran after Luffy leaving Nami alone in the room as a cold wind blew through the door.
"Snow inside the castle? It's cold, I should probably close the door." As Nami moved to get up, Chopper snuck back in.
"Don't get up." Chopper ordered. "You should still have a fever, the doctorine would kill me if I let you get up before you're fully healed."
"You helped nurse me back to health right? That must mean you're a pretty good doctor. Can you check my health now?" Nami asked. "My devil fruit does speed up my recovery and I'm pretty strong so I really don't think I'm sick anymore."
After swooning about the mention of him being a good doctor he starts to inspect her while asking her questions. "So you're really a pirate?"
"Yep, that guy that tried to eat you is our idiot captain." Nami told him.
"So you carry a black flag with a skull and crossbones?" Chopper clarifies.
Nami smiled. "Are you interested in pirates? Would you like to join us? I can tell you more about our members. There's eleven of us."
Chopper looked surprised. "You're almost completely healed, another half hour and you should be fine. Your cells fought off the poison pretty easily, it's almost like you're not even human."
Nami laughed. "You should see the Vice-Captain, he's a real monster just like Luffy. So do you want to hear about them?"
Chopper looked interested. "Monsters? Isn't that a bad thing."
"Nope, it's a term used to describe someone who's really strong. At least that's how us pirates use it." Nami explained.
"Tell me more about the rest of you guys." Chopper looked at her with joy in his eyes.
Nami began. "Our captain Luffy, he's the strongest of us all but he's a bit of an idiot. He has this way about him, he's charismatic and the reason we were all brought together. Our Vice captain Jay, he's always so serious and a bit annoying. He thinks he's the funniest guy around, never acts his age. His only good quality is his strength and he knows a lot. We have a Kunoichi named Kura, she's caring and the only one capable of dealing with Jay. I still don't see how she does it."
"A ninja!" Chopper interrupted. "Is she here? I want to be a ninja, nin nin!" Chopper emphasized by forming a hand sign.
Nami's smile dropped. "She's not, she left the crew, we have to go save her but we stopped here because I got sick."
"What happened?" Chopper asked.
Nami started telling him about what happened at Whiskey peak.
Nami tensed up. "A group is coming. Whoever they are, they're not nice. Their emotions are full of malice."
"What? How can you tell?" Chopper asked in confusion.
"My devil fruit, I'm a wraith. It allows us a limited perception in a bubble around us when we close our eyes. Thanks to my electricity I can feel the emotions of those within it, giving me a look at someone's personality." She explained quickly.
"Someone, evil?" Chopper thought about it for a moment before remembering their good for nothing king. "It's Wapol, he's back!"
Nami vanished from her bed in a flash of orange, as soon as Wapol takes a step onto the snowy mountain he's immediately hit with a small bolt of lightning sending him flying almost over the cliff but luckily he was caught by his lackeys. Luffy comes running out of the castle and sees Nami up.
"Nami!" Luffy shouted as he jumped on her in his trademark hug. "Are you ok?"
Nami smiles. "I'm fine Luffy, I'm all healed up."
"Chopper!" Kureha calls. Chopper runs over quickly from inside the castle. "She shouldn't be up right now!"
"She's healed, something to do with her devil fruit. Apparently it makes it much easier to fight off poisons and sickness." Chopper told her. Kureha nodded in understanding as the two men beside Wapol began to shout.
"How dare you attack the king of this kingdom?" One of them yelled.
"He's hardly a king." Nami told them. "A king does everything for the good of his people, he does everything to help himself. He's too selfish to be considered a king."
"It's cold." Luffy shivers and heads inside the castle leaving Nami and Chopper to face the Angered king who stood up.
"Mahahaha! I don't know who you are girl but if you're with that annoying Strawhat, then I'll devour every last piece of you." He swore.
"Disregarding how weird that sounds, are you sure you're even strong enough to fight me? I may not be as strong as my captain, but I'm faster and smarter." She told him.
Wapol grins. "My soldiers are down there attacking the village and that annoying Strawhat is up here. Even that stupid reindeer and annoying doctor are here, everyone I hate the most all in one place. A perfect chance to remove all the thorns in my side."
"Indeed your majesty, it'll make for a perfect rebirth of the Drum Kingdom. Allow us to quickly dispose of these nuisances, your majesty." Chess says.
"I don't know what you were thinking, but you've got some guts appropriating his majesty's castle for your own use, Dr. Kureha." Kuromarimo picks out a ball from his hair.
(Could this be the inspiration behind mineta, I mean it works but it's unlikely.)
"Personally I don't care about a beat up castle like this one. It's just that my friend here was insistent on making a proper grave for Hiluluk in this castle." Dr. Kureha informed them.
Chess sees Chopper grow in size and finally recognizes him. "Y-Your majesty, that's the same monster that came here following Hiluluk back then!"
"Doc wanted to save this country. That's why I won't let you set a single foot in this castle! I won't let the likes of you knock down Doc's conviction." Chopper vowed.
"Well if I'm going to take a page from Luffy's book, I can't let you jump our future doctor." Nami smiled at Chopper who looked confused.
"I already refused, I'm not joining." Chopper told her.
"Yea, and I refuse your refusal. You have to join." She laughed.
Everyone looked at her in shock as Chopper asked, "can you even do that?!"
Nami just laughed again. "I guess not, it's Luffy's thing. Just think about it alright."
"Enough pointless banter!" Wapol shouted. "Chess! Kuromarimo! Slaughter them all!"
"Hmph! Turning a holy castle into a grave for some quack doctor?! I'll start by killing you first, Dr. Kureha! Electricmarimo!" Kuromarimo throws a ball of hair at Kureha causing Chopper to scream but suddenly it's stopped by Nami as she steps up and blocks it.
"Ew! What possessed you to start throwing your hair around?" She asked. "It's disgusting." Nami started waving around her hand but she noticed the hair wasn't coming off. "Oh come on! That's even worse, it isn't coming off."
Kuromarimo laughed. "It's because of the static electricity in my hair, nothing can take it off until the electricity dissipates." He threw more, letting it stick to both her and her blade.
Nami facepalmed at her stupidity. "I think Luffy might be rubbing off on me too much, I could feel the electricity in your hair but couldn't even remember my own abilities." She coursed electricity through her hand and then began to absorb it rapidly. Once all the electricity left the hair, it immediately fell off.
"What! How did you do that?!" Kuromarimo yelled.
Chess finally understood. "That lightning, I thought I was imagining it. That was really you."
Nami grinned. "About time you found out. Chopper, don't worry. I'll fight them myself."
Kuromarimo rushed at her while Chess prepared a bow. "Don't get cocky, girl! I'll show you my boxing expertise!"
Nami jumped out of the way of his fist and kicked him in the back causing him to trip and fall face first on the ground stuck in the snow.
Chess shot a flaming arrow at her but the lightning around her body flared up. "Storm cell." The second the arrow made impact it was turned to ashes as a bright blast of electricity flew off her body.
Kuromarimo rose from the snow in anger. "You bitch!"
Nami laughed when she saw the state of his hair. It was completely white and filled with snow. "Portable snowballs, that's a nice combination. One uses ice, the other uses fire."
Nami changes targets and dashes at Chess with lightning coursing through her palms. The moment before her palms made contact, Chess was pushed out of the way as a huge mouth replaced it.
"Die!" Wapol yelled as he bit down.
Nami jumped out of the way and sighed. "That's the second enemy that tried biting me." Nami builds up lightning in her palms as it courses outward and connects with Wapol. "Power bolt."
Wapol stands up in anger. "Let's see how you handle this!"
"Let me show you the true power of the Baku Baku fruit!" Wapol said as he spit out blood.
Nami smirked. "Look at you, you're actually strong enough to take a jolt of electricity that would've knocked out a normal person."
Wapol growled. "Chess list my meals since this morning." Chess listed a couple items completely unfit for human consumption. Wapol smiled. "I bet you're wondering why I eat such things."
"That's an understatement." Chopper added in.
"The very things that I consume become my new flesh and blood. Baku Baku shock! Wapol house!" He yelled as his body turned into an actual house.
"What is that supposed to do, think I can't strike a house with lightning?" Nami asked rhetorically.
"Shut up girl! Just wait!" Wapol ordered, pissing Nami off but she chose to keep quiet. "Behold my royal secret technique! Baku Baku Factory!" He yelled as he jumped at his lackeys and devoured the two whole.
"I don't think a quick snack is gonna help you with this fight." Nami said in disgust. "I'm starting to dislike you more than Arlong, he didn't go around eating people… I think."
"Anyone ever told you that you talk a lot?" Wapol smacked as the two bodies finally disappeared.
"I'm starting to think I should cut off your tongue." She snarled as Wapol just waved her off.
"Behold! Witness this miraculous combination! The true power of my devil fruit!" The door to Wapol's house opened as a hand appeared followed by the rest of the body.
"This form of ours, is Drum Kingdom's strongest warrior!" The combined man posed showing off his new or their new form. "Chessmarimo!"
"That's ridiculous." Nami sighed. "Sometimes I wonder why I put up with such idiots."
"Oh be quiet, always complaining!" Chessmar jumped forward aiming a fist at her right shoulder.
Nami slid to the side, tripping the large man as he fell to the floor. "Jay's training works wonders, something about how we wraiths can't give the others a bad rep for being weak." Chessmar was furious but before he could get up his face was pressed into the dirt as Nami had stepped on him. "You're making this too easy." She laughed.
Chopper looked at Nami in a mix of fear and confusion. "Don't you think that's going too far? Why kick him when he's down?"
Nami looked at her foot before immediately removing it from the man's head. "Um, that isn't like me. I guess I was just a little drunk on power. I may not be the strongest but come to think of it, since getting this power I've never been defeated. I may have gotten a bit cocky."
Dr Kureha who remained on the sidelines decided to comment on that. "A bit of advice, before you end up on a power trip in the future. Until you're capable of destroying the planet itself, do not think for a second that you're invincible. It happens to a lot of people with powerful devil fruits."
Nami nodded. "I'll ask Zoro for a fight later, that should help."
(Just a brief dismissal of any god complex she may have had in the future. Rather get rid of that now.)
Chessmar growled, he was tired of being ignored over something so minuscule. He was also angry that he was beaten into the ground again, at least in Kuromarimo's case. Wapol looked at the display in frustration. His greatest soldier was treated like a play thing, maybe it was time for an upgrade. Wapol appeared behind the soldier and bit down devouring the fusion instantly.
"Baku Baku Factory!" Wapol yelled as the house moved around.
Nami looked back at them. "Oh so there's more?"
The next time the door opened, Wapol had a smug look on his face. "I had to get a little creative for this one."
This time it was Marimo who stepped out alone. His body was significantly bigger and he had a more than healthy amount of muscle on his bones. His afro gloves were changed into metal gloves that exploded whenever he clapped his hands.
"H-How, you can modify someone to that extent?" Nami said in confusion.
Wapol shook his head. "No, I couldn't do that if I wanted to. Behold!" The door opened again and out walked Chess who was now as small as Chopper. "I just put everything they had into Kuromarimo, I just realized it'd be much better for all that power to be controlled by one individual instead of two."
Marimo laughed. "I've never felt so powerful." With a simple shift in his legs he exploded forward with a surprise attack that caught Nami on her cheek. The second his gloves made contact, it exploded sending Nami into the castle walls.
Nami walked out of the wreckage with a frown. "I'm getting tired of everyone resorting to explosions." Nami gathered as much lightning as she could, summoning a giant dragon, the same one that took out Arlong. "Thunder Dragon!" She threw the dragon at Marimo, ending the battle rather abruptly. "I'm getting bored of this battle." She yawned and passed out due to using so much lightning.
This had left the surrounding crowd jaw dropped. "W-What?! She was hiding that much power!" Chopper was amazed. "So cool!"
Wapol stood in stunned silence before coming to his senses. "She took herself out with that attack, that means she won't be trouble for us any more. Chess!" He called as he looked to the side to see a bulked up Chopper and Chess knocked out.
Chopper was proud. "No more soldiers, I did it!"
Wapol growled. "Fine, I'll do it myself!"
He began to advance on Chopper as Kureha went over to Nami to make sure she was ok. Chopper began pacing backwards as his form ran out of time and he was left vulnerable.
"Say goodbye, little monster." Wapol opened his jaws, biting down.
He felt nothing but his teeth connect as he was suddenly punched by a rubbery fist. "I found a coat!" Luffy boomed with a smirk.
"Why do all you wretched Strawhats insist on hitting my face! Since I met you all, that's all you have done!" Wapol yelled as he stood up.
"Shishishi. Sorry about that, I don't know why but whenever I see you I just want to punch you. It's kinda weird." Luffy explained.
As Wapol grew more and more frustrated, he looked up at his castle but noticed a pirate flag with cherry blossoms dancing across it. "W-What is that worthless flag doing on my castle?!"
Chopper backed into a defensive position in front of the castle. "It's mine!" He declared.
Wapol just laughed before aiming an arm cannon at the flag. "I'll destroy it for the defiance of my name!" As Wapol shot Luffy moved in front of him knocking his arm to the side causing the explosive shell to narrowly miss the flag.
"Hey." Luffy whispered in an angry tone. "A poser like you should never disrespect the flag of a pirate! You don't even know why we fly them."
"Mahahaha! What reason is there to fly a pirate flag, other than for decoration and to invoke fear?" Wapol asked.
"That is why you're nothing but a poser. A pirate flag isn't something you pretend pirates can go around waving, even as a joke!" Luffy told him.
"Why should a king like myself bow to the rules of dirty pirates? I'm an elite! Your rules don't apply to me!" Wapol yelled as he waved his hand away and aimed at the flag again.
"You need to understand that a pirate flag is a sign of conviction!" Luffy declared as he grabbed Wapol's arm and crushed it. "It's putting your life on the line for your own kind of freedom, it's a sign of pride. Losing one's flag is equivalent to giving up the life of a pirate! You can never break that flag!" Luffy twisted his arm and punched him in the face… again. Luffy looked at his hand in confusion. "It's like a magnet, no matter where I aim I end up hitting you in the face."
"I hate you all." Wapol drawled, his face completely bruised up. Out of Wapol's mouth came a bar of dynamite that exploded kicking up the snow and posing as a good distraction.
Wapol ran into the castle, running directly for the royal armory and unlocking it with the key. Unfortunately Nami was never able to take it from him. Wapol went in eating as many blades as he could until this time Luffy chose to switch up the attack and kick him in the face.
Wapol got up and wiped the blood from his mouth, understandably, he was angry. "I'll show you what true power is with my Baku Baku shock!" Wapol ate himself turning into a giant… bucket? A moment later it began to unfurl itself revealing something new. It was a much skinnier Wapol with shining bladed armor as well as bladed hands and fingers. He had effectively turned himself into a sword, quite like a certain person they'd meet in the future.
Wapol roared with laughter. He had done it, he had become a warrior that couldn't be defeated. Though it was quite sad that it'd only last 24 hours.
"Gum gum pistol!" Luffy shouted as he hit Wapol with full force. "Ahhh!" Wapol laughed as Luffy pulled back his bleeding hand.
"You won't even be able to touch me, my entire body is made of blades. It's obvious you're impervious to blunt attacks, that's why with this I'll defeat you." Wapol vowed.
Wapol dashed forward at speed previously impossible for him. He slashed at Luffy who jumped back and the sound of metal on metal was heard in the clearing.
"Am I late?" A voice asked.
"Zoro!" Luffy beamed. "I can't hit this guy, everytime I do I get cut."
Zoro smirked. "I'll handle him, this is a fight for a swordsman."
Noticeably none of Zoro's blades were on fire. He had chosen to bench the blade for a while, he had to make sure he wasn't reliant on that power until he could handle it completely and bring out its full power. He had actually gone back to the ship and placed it in the training room beneath the massive socotra tree.
As Zoro and Wapol fought a change in Wapol's blades occurred. They began to explode upon impact and were reinforced further. Seeing that he was struggling Keres jumped in with Zoro as they fought side by side.
"This is my fight princess!" Zoro yelled as he jumped away from another explosion.
Keres dodged under a blade gathering up blood as she slashed out repeatedly in a circular motion. "Mangler." She whispered before turning to Zoro. "Oh shut up, none of us are capable of handling this man alone. Well maybe Kura if she decides to make it hot."
Some of Wapol's blades were broken by Keres and her attack. Blood soaked his armor as he fell to the floor. "I've been cut, I've been cut!" He yelled as he began rolling around comically. The group watched on in confusion until Wapol paused for a second and got up dusting his bladed body off. "Ahem! The blood was not mine."
"Obviously!" Keres shouted incredulously.
The fight continued with Wapol on the back foot. Everytime he swung at one, the other followed up with an attack that broke more of his blades despite the explosions.
"You know, we're a pretty good team." Zoro smiled as he sent out a Hyakku hachi pound hou tripping Wapol.
Keres laughed at that. "Keep talking like that and I might actually start liking you." She slashed into the ground coursing blood through it, turning the snow red.
Zoro thought about what she said before shaking his head. "Please don't, I feel like your father would kill me before I could train enough to face him again."
Unbeknownst to them up in the sky on a low hanging sky island a man was sitting there looking down. "Those two are too close." He growled.
The man's piercing amber eyes turned away as he was met by another man. "A new warlord was announced, thanks to the new plan implemented to up the warlord count to nine. Our ninth one has been found and all of you will be required to hold a meeting with the fleet admiral. We need to begin preparations."
Mihawk sighed. "I'll be back." He whispered looking at his daughter. "So Noiro, Who's the new guy?"
"A man by the name of Hisui, the leader of a new group of pirates that took over a highly advanced island in close vicinity to Alabasta." Noiro told him as the two walked off.
Zoro and Keres fell to the floor in front of the panting Wapol. "You two can't defeat me, my new body is undefeatable." He began to gloat until he felt intense heat as he was smothered by ash.
Vivi walked up to him with a glare. "A coward like you isn't worth being called a king!" She started making a massive amount of ash as she took inspiration from Nami. Within moments a giant dragon made of ash had bit into Wapol and flew off into the distance exploding. Wapol was now officially defeated.
The crew looked at Vivi in amazement. Nami showed a bit of jealousy as she had finally woken up. She had studied up on devil fruits since getting one and knew what Vivi was. "Logia's are officially a cheat, I mean you can create an infinite amount of your element with no drawbacks. If you train enough you can't even be touched." As Nami continued to complain about how unfair their fruits are without realizing the fact that she literally couldn't die, the rest of the group that came with Zoro made their presence known.
Dalton reintroduced himself as him and the rest of the crew came into sight. "Join my crew!" Luffy commanded as Chopper began to think about it.
Upon hearing this, Dr. Kureha had gone inside the castle leaving the group to continue conversing.
Chopper thought back to his old friend and mentor and how he wanted him to go out to sea and see the world. "Aren't you scared of me? I'm a monster."
Ryushi laughed at this. "So that's why they kept calling me that." He then turned into a prowler and padded up to Chopper. "We're both monsters, or at least I would say we are but we're really not. Those three", he pointed at Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy. "They're the real monsters. I'm kinda part of Jay's group, we have to come up with a name though."
Nami patted Chopper on his back. "You can join us, no one is scared of you. Besides, if you join, I can have Kura teach you some ninjutsu or something when we rescue her."
"Alright I'll join." He decided. "I just need to tell the doctorine first."
From a distance Kaya made eye contact with Chopper. Seeing the cute creature she immediately ran up to him and picked him up. "Usopp!" She shouted. "Look, he's so cute!" She turned to Nami. "Who is he?" She asked.
Nami smiled. "This is Chopper, he's our new doctor."
Kaya, impossibly, became even more excited. "He's a doctor!" She gestured to herself. "I'm training as a nurse, if you don't mind could I be your assistant. Also I'm really good with guns so I can act as a bodyguard as well."
Chopper nodded causing Kaya to squeal and hug him. Usopp was happy for her and chose to join in. "I'm a sniper, with me around no one will sneak up on you."
"Support trio." Ryushi decided on his own. "Looks like there will be many more factions within our crew in the future."
Chopper jumped out of Kaya's arms and ran off. "I'm gonna go tell the doctorine." He yelled with a grin on his face, he had actually belonged.
When he goes to tell Kureha about the good news, she flat out refuses to let him leave, chasing after the reindeer with a variety of weapons until Chopper escapes from the castle ushering the rest of the Strawhats with him as they went down the mountain on a sled.
As they made it to the ship they had consoled Chopper for the way his caretaker and mentor had acted. As Chopper turned back to the island to say his final goodbyes the sky was filled with cherry blossoms and he realized what had occurred. "Bye Doctorine!" He cried out as the crew finally set sail.
Across the sea on the island of Alabasta. Jay had finally made it to the island after a long journey, walking on the water in the grand line was significantly tougher since you had to deal with sea kings and the weird storms. "Now Kura, where the hell did you go? Shadow walk!"
