Hello people, it's GenericWriter1 here, back with (yes) another Spider-Man story, this time a prequel to A Spider's Mark, to show the relationship Peter Parker had with the X-Men before they disappeared. Seeing as in A Spider's Mark, it started with Peter having no powers, so this story is the lead up to that moment. There shouldn't be any spoilers for that story as far as I know in this one, but just in case, read that one first before this one or vice versa. Without further Ado, enjoy.

Midtown High, Manhattan.

"Thank you for coming in on such short notice Ms. Parker."

"It's quite alright Principle Coulson. What seems to be the problem?"

"The problem, unfortunately Ms. Parker, is that this is the 5th time your nephew has been caught fighting Flash Thompson." Coulson turned his attention towards Peter, who was leaning back into his chair, ice pack on his head.

"And like I've said every time before, he started with me first. I was just defending myself."

"I'd like to believe that's true Parker, I really do." Coulson shifted in his seat and brought himself closer to his desk. "But when every time you come out, barely unscathed, and Flash comes out a bloodied mess with cuts, bruises, and the broken nose-"

"Wait, my nephew broke someone's nose?" May turned to Peter. "Is this true?"

Peter sighed a bit as he ran his hand through his hair. He knew he was at fault of his recent streak of ending up in the principle's office because of Flash. Flash just kept pushing buttons and hitting more and close to home every time, and every time he did, Peter knew he was letting the built up rage from since nursery school with his bully start to manifest into his superhuman strength. Luckily it didn't go past a broken nose.

"…yeah." Peter simply stated. Coulson cleared his throat and continued talking.

"I'm sorry Ms. Parker, I truly am. But the recent incidents has gone noticed by the school board. The only options Peter has right now is Juvenile Detention, which lets be honest with ourselves, will only make things worse. Or we have to expel him from Midtown High." Peter gave a look of shock while his Aunt just gave one of defeat and tiredness.

"Those aren't much of good options…"

"My hands are tied Ms. Parker, there's pressure coming in from all sides for me to make a decision, and I rather not see Peter end up as a future criminal." May sighed and turned to Peter. He hated seeing his Aunt like this and knew that he didn't have anyone to blame for himself. Still, it didn't help that the look she gave him made him feel even more shitty.

"I guess…Peter will have to attend school elsewhere..."

Coulson, knowing this situation wasn't getting any much better, gave his sympathy. "I know this is a hard decision and trust me, I don't like making you choose between these two anymore than you do. But if I could offer some advice, highschools in upstate New York are much more quieter than the ones in the city. Maybe a change of scenery is what could help Peter out."

"Any suggestions?" May asked.

Coulson handed May a brochure/pamphlet of the school he had in mind. "It's called Bayville High. Close enough to the main city in Winchester New York so it would still feel as if you never left the city itself."

May looked over the brochure with great interest, while Peter was just staring out the window. He didn't want to leave the city itself, both for nostalgic reasons and the duty he had to protect it from the villains that ran amok when he was simply passing by as a New Yorker. Still, he knew he had little choice in the matter, as either option was going to see the extended hiatus of Spider-Man.

"Well…Ben did have a small house upstate that seems to be in fair distance of Winchester, although I would have to check again." She turned her attention to Peter. "Peter, you're my only nephew and you know I love you more than anything. So…this is your last chance. If this happens at Bayville again, I'm sending you to Juvie. I don't want you to end up going down the wrong path in life."

Peter simply looked down and the ground and responded "Yeah…I won't make a scene again."

"Good. Principal Coulson, thank you for your help."

"Anytime Ms. Parker." And with that, Peter and May walked out of the school and back into her car, where she drove the both of them back to their house. Peter stares out the window the whole ride back, wondering about the fate of Spider-Man, and more importantly, the fate of New York City.

Mississippi (1 Week prior.)

"What are you waiting for Cody?" A southern boy stated. The boy named Cody turned to his friend to explain the situation.

"Hey chill out will ya? I'm just tryna take it slow, you know…wait for the right opportunity."

"Cody I've seen glaciers move faster than you." The friend stated. He rubbed his head in stress. "Do you at least know her name?"

Cody hesitated before he shook his head. The friend sighed in disappointment. He stopped, then grabbed the back of Cody's jacket and dragged him over to the girl Cody was staring at.

"Hey! What you doing?!" Cody yelled.

"Making you work up ya courage. Now go talk to her." The friend's grip was broken by Cody shaking himself free. Before he could get a word out, he heard the girl clear her throat to make her attention known.

"Is there something ah can help you with?" Cody rubbed the back of his head to try to figure out the words to tell the girl.

"Yeah, I was just wondering if you would wanna maybe dance...that's if you want to that is." Cody's friend face palmed himself watching Cody attempts at flirting. The girl responded.

"No offense but ah'm just hanging out here by myself." She was gonna continue till she saw the look of dissatisfaction on Cody's face.

"On second thought, one dance couldn't hurt." The girl said. Cody's face lit up with excitement as both him and the girl walked towards the dance floor. They both started dancing with the music, nothing too extravagant. Cody was dancing a fair distance away from the girl, which his friend noticed. Trying to help him out, he bumped into him, causing Cody to stumble and bump into the girl. She hit the ground, an annoyed look on her face emerged.

Cody looked visibly embarrassed. He reached out his hand to help her up. "Hey, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" His apology turned to yelling as when he touched the girl's wrist, he felt some kind of intense force draining his energy rapidly the longer he held on. Eventually the girl shook her hand, freeing her wrist and causing Cody to fall on the floor. Everyone stared at the girl in horror as she tried to make sense of what just happened.

"Wha-what just happened?" She said to herself. Before she even got up, her head started filling in with memories that weren't her own. Meanwhile, Cody's friend rushed over to his friend, who was completely passed out, trying to see if he was still alive. After making sure he was still breathing, he turned his attention to the goth girl standing up and starting to run out of the party.

"Where do you think you're going? You caused this!" The boy exclaimed. The girl didn't say anything, instead just shoving him out of the way and continuing to run. The boy picked himself up from off the floor and looked in shock, as the girl had about the same strength Cody did when they practiced on the field.

"What the hell did she do to him?"

Queens, NYC (Present Day)

After the fiasco at school, Peter just locked himself in his room. He knew that his principal was right about his behavior. He was getting more and more aggressive and agitated than normal, and it wasn't being confined just to his Spider-Man persona. Although it probably was a good thing it wasn't. Beating a criminal half to death wasn't high on his to do list.

"Maybe I should apologize to Flash. Not that it's gonna matter, I'm expelled either way." Peter got up from his bed and climbed out his window to his roof. Aunt May was thankfully asleep and his neighbors probably didn't care if he was on the roof or not, as long as he didn't climb obvious to link him back to Spider-Man. He breathed in and out as he took in the night sky of Queens. The sound of nothingness calmed him down.

After a few minutes of roof relaxing, Peter climbed back into his room and was preparing to mess with his web shooters when he heard something come up on his radio scanner.

"Dispatch, we got reports of a crazed girl sighted in Forest Hills. Looks like a run away..."

"Run away?" Peter asked. He figured it wasn't nothing too serious to concern himself with, but then again she was described as crazed. Potential for herself or someone else to get hurt. Rather than sorry instead of being safe, Peter quickly put on his Spider-Man outfit and started to swing around his neighborhood, trying to see any type of unusual characters on the streets.

15 minutes in, and no one looked even remotely suspicious and the streets looked barren. "Ok, if I was someone who was running from the cops and needed to hide, where would I go?" Peter's mind came to two places. His house (obviously out of the question) and the cemetery. Deciding he had no better leads, he headed for the latter.

Cemetery, Queens NY.

After a few minutes of swinging around, Peter landed in the entrance of the cemetery. He noted that the gate of the cemetery was open when it should've been locked for the night. He had to be in the right place. He walked in warily, not knowing what to expect.

"Maybe I should've just not gotten involved. This is a supposed crazed girl after all, not Doc Ock." Peter thought to himself. He wanted to tread as cautiously as possible, as this was where is Uncle was buried. Last thing he wanted to do was defile the place with webs and broken infrastructure. His train of thought was paused when he heard rustling and a flock of birds cawing and flying away. He turned to see a pale looking girl with auburn hair with white streaks, a mesh shirt with a black tank top, leather skirt, black leggings and combat boots. She looked deathly afraid of seeing Spider-Man.

"Wait! Ah'm not a criminal, ah swear!" The girl exclaimed. Peter stuck out his arms in a way to show that he wasn't going to harm her.

"It's ok, it's ok. I'm not going to hurt you." Peter stated. The girl still seemed on edge but looked a little less defensive. "What's your name?"

"Ah…Ah don't know."

"Seriously?" Peter thought. He figured that the girl couldn't even be a local just from her accent alone. "Ok, do you at least know where you're from?"

"Mississippi."

Peter stepped a bit closer. "Mississippi? That's a long way from New York."

"Ah had to leave. Ah-" The girl stopped herself from speaking further. The silence between them made things weird for Peter and scary for the girl. He decided to try to light up the mood.

"So…you always run through cemeteries to clear your head?"

"N-no...it's just-"

"I meant it as a joke." Peter cut her off. "Is there anywhere you can go?"

"No, but you don't understand. Ah'm being chased."

"Wait, chased? By who?" Peter's spider sense kicked into high gear as he tackled the girl to the ground, barely avoiding a red beam that grazed Peter's arm. He looked up to see a man standing with a red light coming from his visor.

"Step away from the girl." The man demanded.

"You just shot at her, and think I'm gonna listen to that?" The girl stood up with Peter, hiding behind him.

"Those were the people chasing me. Ah ain't do nuthin'." The girl said.

The man looked confused, but continued on anyways. "We're not chasing or attacking you, I swea-" The man was cut off by Peter shooting a web at his mouth and at his visor. He turned his attention to the girl behind him.

"Get somewhere safe! Don't run out in the open till you see me again!" The girl nodded her head as she took off in a random direction. Peter hoped she could find somewhere to hide while he dealt with this suspicious looking character. He shot a web line towards a wall further away, as so he had more time to react in case another beam was fired.

The man ripped off the webbing on his mouth and visit and turned back to Spider-Man. "Seriously, this is a misunderstanding. You're only going to make things worse."

"If only I had a nickel every time someone has told me that. But you must think I'm an idiot to let you take that girl." The man shot another beam at Peter. He jumped swiftly avoiding the beam, not ripping any fabric this time. He landed on the floor across from the man's back.

"Screw this. Wolverine, Jean, I need back up."

"That's not good." Peter thought. He shot some more webs at the man to keep him in place. He figured at the very least he could buy himself more time to get the girl to safety. Once he was webbed down fully, he started swinging away towards the direction he saw the girl running towards.

"Hey, you can't just leave me here!" The man shouted. He got no reply as he struggled to break out of the webbing. After a few minutes passed, another man in a yellow and blue jumpsuit and a redheaded girl with a blue and green jumpsuit showed up. Wolverine and Jean.

"What happened Summers? The girl had another power we don't know about?" Logan asked while slicing through the webs.

"No, some other guy. Spider-Man I think." Scott stated. "Guess he saw her and thought we were trying to hurt her."

"Well with the way we've been going about it...and the impact you left on him." Jean pointed out to the destroyed wall Scott had shot at when he first saw Spider-Man. "It's not too unbelievable."

Scott simply sighed as he picked himself up and fixed himself. "We just need to make sure he doesn't hurt her."

Peter swung to the area he saw the girl run towards and tried to find her again. Now that some superpowered individuals were also looking for her, he knew he had to get her out of here and somewhere safe.

"Hello? You still here?" Peter asked. "Its me, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man." He kept swinging and shouting, hoping the girl would respond. Instead he was ambushed by an attacker from behind, who had tackled him. They fell to the floor, but Peter managed to knock the attacker off of him to reveal a man in yellow and blue spandex.

"Jeez, and I thought my outfit was over the top." Peter quipped. "Who are you supposed to be, the ferocious bumblebee?"

"The name's Wolverine bub, and I'm not in the mood for these games. Move out the way and let me find the girl."

Peter got back into a fighting stance as he stared down Wolverine. "Not gonna happen buddy." Wolverine then proceeded by popping out his claws and snarled, saying

"Fine, suit yourself bub."

Yes, I know I got too many stories to work on right now, but I've been wanting to do a story regarding X-Men Evolution's universe for the longest. That being said, this story will be a lot longer, both in chapter count and how long each chapter is (except this one, just being the standard 3k according to document manager), so each chapter will take longer than how I'd usually do it, even though I already don't have the greatest track record of maintaining uploading dates. Regardless, hope you guys enjoyed, and until next time.
