Violet POV
"So, the good news is that we got Norbert away thanks to Charlie and his friends, however Draco still told Minerva so they are now serving detention" I say, sitting with a cup of tea in hand in my living room, Severus sitting in the armchair opposite me with a glass of wine in hand, the evening being late.
"Yes, well I imagine they won't be enjoying their detention time" he says, I nod in agreement, not liking the idea that they will be in the forest but at least they are with Hagrid to keep them safe.
"Has there been any news?" I ask him, looking to him as I ask so he knows what I mean,
"Nothing has been said to myself, however considering that I had been trying to prevent Quirrell from going too close to that three-headed canine, I am…concerned if he believes whether or not I am a traitor or not" he says.
"I admit it has crossed my mind Severus"
My head whips to the door seeing Quirrell stood there, my eyes widen slightly, I hadn't put my wards back up after Christmas….how could I have been so stupid!
"My lord" Severus says, both he and I standing to face him as he closes the door behind him,
"Do not be concerned my faithful, I had not revealed myself to either of you before Halloween, and you are one of the secret keepers of the stone Severus, it was expected of you" he says, having truly facing us after Quirrell removed his false turban and turned his back to us.
"How are you like this my lord?" I ask, his eyes on me,
"The power of the magic that destroyed my body that day threw me across continents…I remained a spirit for many years before Quirrell found me. But soon once I have the sorcerer's stone, you will help me to become whole again" he says, of course he knows of my family ties with Nicolas Flamel, and that I know how it works.
"But you must have the stone first, how will you get it? Its heavily guarded" I say, carefully sitting down after he sits down on a chair with Quirrell still facing away from us, Severus sitting beside me,
"I believe Severus knows of all the enchantments guarding the stone, he will retrieve it for me" he says,
"Unfortunately, my lord that is false, each head teacher created their own safe guard for the stone, but it is a mystery to me of what the others created, Dumbledore believed it safer that way" Severus says, and it's a good thing Dumbledore did otherwise this would have been a disaster.
I see the glare on his face at this knowledge,
"I will retrieve it myself then, once I become stronger I will face the enchantments and get that stone. And will no longer have to be sustained by unicorn blood" he says, I nod slowly at this, at least now I know what has happened to the unicorns in the forest,
"And when I come to power I will destroy Harry Potter…I was close this evening if it weren't for the half breed centaur…in my full power I would have destroyed him" he says, I control my expression, he was in the woods while the children were serving their detentions?
"Soon, my lord, nothing will stand in your way" Severus says, I nod in agreement, mentally crossing my fingers.
"Indeed, however I must take my leave. Violet you must deal with those blood traitor Weasleys, they have apparently become the jesters of this school and taken to pranking people by throwing snowballs at anyone that comes across them" he says, I nod in agreement, I will certainly be having words with them.
He stands up again and making his way to the door, Quirrell wordlessly wraps the turban back around his head and leaving swiftly as he entered. Once the door is shut I silently ward the chambers as strong as I am able to before I let a breath out, Severus doing the same,
"There are many times I have praised Dumbledore's wisdom and this is one more, he would have had it tonight if you had known of the other enchantments" I say, he nods in agreement.
"Severus, we must tell Dumbledore, evidence be damned he can look into my mind for all I care it will be all he needs – he must know" I say, he nods in agreement to this before pausing.
"But if we tell Dumbledore now, my cover is blown" my eyes widen in shock at this, I can't believe I didn't think of this, no-one else knows that Quirrell has Tom on the back of his head, who else would have told Dumbledore, both of us would be in danger, and Selene...she knows too and the twins, I must speak with them immediately about this.
"What do we do?" I ask, my arms wrapping around myself feeling like I am at a crossroads with all the paths leading to trouble.
"We wait for him to slip, it will hopefully happen where somehow Albus finds out or someone else does and then informs him. We cannot lose our credibility with him" he says, I nod in agreement.
I cast a patronus and send my wolf to Selene, asking her to come with the twins, I won't have her in the corridors at night on her own.
"They must be warned, we won't tell them the role you play, only that you have been helping me" I say, he nods in agreement.
"Mum?" I look over to the door surprised, how did they get down here so fast, Severus also looking to the door curious, I lift the enchantments and let them in, thankful that the three of them are together,
"How did you get here so fast?" I ask curiously,
"Ummm we ran?" Fred says, but I did not miss their eyes meeting, I'll leave it for now.
"We had a visit just now from him we won't tell you the full details but he is aiming to take the stone soon. I need to also ask you three to not leave the dormitories alone. You two almost put a mark on your heads with that snow ball incident by the way. I'll just have to be giving you detentions so he knows I've done something about it" I say, they nod at this, Fred and George smirking at the snowball incident though,
"Harry, Ron and Hermione just got back from their detentions in the forest, we heard everything, he almost attacked Harry, but a centaur named Firenze stopped him. Is there anything we can do to help?" Selene asks,
"The best thing I need from you three is to stay safe, and together. I don't think he has any other goal but to get the stone but I don't want to chance him being alone with you, I don't believe he would hurt you but he would also not want you to see him at his weakest so you should be alright for now" I say, Severus nodding in agreement.
"What are you going to do?" George asks, his arm going around Selene's shoulder and I see her visibly relax some, it makes me smile at them to know that he can instinctively care for her, know when she needs comfort without being told.
"Play along for now. All we can do is wait and hope that he slips, it's too dangerous to confront him, the only one whom can stop him is Dumbledore, but he cannot attack a teacher without proof" I say,
"We could use our magic to summon his turban during dinner?" Fred says, I smirk at him for that before turning back to being serious,
"Were that to happen that would put everyone in the hall in great danger. I know you all want to help but this isn't safe, for any of us. Stay together and keep safe" I say, they nod in agreement, I give them all a hug before they leave, promising to go straight to their chambers.
"How did they get here so fast?" Severus asks, I look back at the door that the three left from with a frown, how indeed.
