I had been exposed.

Slowly, I turned my head to face him.

Shock was written all over his face, he was staring at me, his eyes rapidly going up and down, holding his breath.

"Kathryn...," he gasped and I looked down in shame, avoiding his eyes.

This can't be happening, not now, not with him.

"Get out," I said in a low voice and he shook his head.

"What happened to you?" He whispered in disbelief.

"This is none of your business! Get out!" I yelled.

What I feared the most was happening right in front of my eyes.

"I-I can't. I am sorry" he stammered out.

"Kurt. Get the fuck out!" I screamed. He flinched, but he continued to stand there.

"I said get out!" I repeated, shouting even louder and shoved him. Then I phased him out the door, locking it.

"Kathryn! I am sorry! Please open!" Kurt pleaded and knock on my door.

"Go away!" I screamed and banged on the door.

"Okay," I heard him whisper, his voice cracking.

The pain in his voice was one of the worst things I ever felt, fully aware that I was the one who caused it.

I slid down my door, leaning against it realizing what exactly I had just done.

I just pushed Kurt away.

Kurt Wagner, my best friend.

Tears fell down my eyes, now that he knows, it will never be the same.

He will just pull away, just like everyone else did before him.

He will probably tell the others too.

Why did this had to happen now?

Everything was going just fine, I was finally living a decent life, with friends who were like a family to me, but my past will always come back knocking.

-Time Skip-

I got ready and sneaked out of the house.

I walked to school, getting soaked wet as the thunderstorm outside hadn't stopped since last night.

I took my hoodie off as it had gotten too wet to wear and placed it on my locker and I stayed with a black shirt I had been wearing underneath.

I have been avoiding everyone ever since I arrived.

Only at the thought that Kurt might have already told the others what's going on, I shiver.

I don't want to lose them because of what some asshole had done to me in the past.

I thought as I was about to walk to my next class, but immediately stopped in my tracks when I saw Kurt and Evan.

Shoot, I forgot they were taking this class with me.

Kurt's eyes met with mine and he immediately shot up.

"Kathryn! Wait!" I heard him yell after me as I run off.

I suddenly stopped when I fell on someone.

"Watch it!" I heard the very familiar voice say and I groaned.

"Hello, kitty, why are you in such a rush?" He asked sardonically when he realized it was me and picked up my phone that had fallen on the ground after I crushed him.

Next to him stood the familiar Team.

Fred Dukes, Todd Tolanski and of course their new addition to the Brotherhood.

Pietro Maximoff.

I tried to grab my phone from his hands but he lifted it high up, so I couldn't reach it.

Okay, there was a clear height difference between him and I, but this was really annoying, using my shortness against me.

I sighed in frustration and they laughed

"I am already having a shitty day. Can't you just hand it over? " I asked, my emotional exhaustion clear in my voice.

"Well, if you say 'please', I might think about it," he said and I laughed sarcastically.

"In that case you can keep it," I said and tried to walk past them but Pietro blocked my way.

"What do you want?" I asked getting more frustrated every second.

"Just a question, darling, where the hell did you get that? It's really disgusting," Pietro said picking on the scar on my face, I was about to shove his finger away but he quickly took it away before I could.

"Yeah! It's more disgusting than Todd!" Fred said laughing and I rolled my eyes.

"Hey!" Todd protested.

"Freddy, I think you overdid it, buddy. Nothing is more disgusting than Todd," Pietro said and looked at Todd with disgust.

"What is this? Abuse the Toad Day?" He asked and crossed his arms apparently mad.

I went to leave now that they were distracted with their conversation.

"Whoa! Whoa! Still didn't answer my question!" Pietro complained.

"Ask your boss, she should know," I said grabbing my phone from lance, catching him off guard and finally walked away not leaving them time to say anything else.

I walked into the girl's bathroom and looked at my reflection.

Not that I would like to admit it but they were right.

It was true, my scars were disgusting.

And truth hurts.

I looked right in to my blue eyes, only for my attention to go back on my scar.

It's lot better now, but it is still there.

I heard a cough and turned to face the person, it was Anne.

She walked next to me and began fixing her makeup in the mirror, her usual dark purple eyeshadow.

I began heading to the door

"Hey, Kathryn," I heard her say and I turned to her with a raised eyebrow.

"Can I help you?" I asked, not knowing what could Anne possibly want to say to me.

She stopped whatever she was doing and looked around, she was feeling uneasy.

"I just want you to know, you are beautiful," she said and I just stood there confused. She must have noticed my confusion and shook her head.

"What I mean is your scar, it doesn't make you, you know, less beautiful," she said and I still stared at her dumbfounded.

This was the last thing I had expected her to say.

"I saw what happened with the guys, do not listen to them. They are only saying that because they know it affects you," Anne said and I smiled sincerely at her.

"Thank you, really, that means a lot," I said gently and she smiled back, this was the first time I had seen her smile.

That made my smile widen.

"See you later?" I asked and she nodded.

"See you," she said and I walked out of the bathroom.

Well, that was an unexpected interaction.

-Time Skip-

I was walking down the hallway heading for my locker. When I got there, I opened it and searched for my English book. Suddenly, I heard a loud sound and slammed my locker in fear.

"Kathryn!" He exclaimed and I backed away.

"We need to talk," Kurt said, standing in front of me with a guilty expression on his face

What was he feeling guilty for?

"There is nothing to talk about!" I yelled.

"Yes, there is! You don't have to tell me anything about it, I just don't want our friendship to get ruined, just because I teleported in the wrong place, at the wrong time," he said frustrated.

I shook my head negatively.

"I don't want to ruin our friendship either, but how can we keep going? Are we gonna act like nothing happened or something?" I asked desperately.

"Why? What happened?" I heard Evan inquire as he, Jean and Scott walked up to us.

I closed my eyes tightly, keeping my back on them, not daring to look at them.

This wasn't happening.

"Kathryn where have you been? We left you like a million messages on your phone! And why didn't you

inform us before you left the institute? We were really worried!" Scott scolded me and I sighed.

There was no way I was explaining anything.

"And what is going on with you and Kurt? You are both acting suspiciously today, and let me add that there is a clear tension between you two," Jean remarked and I glared at Kurt.

"Guys, whatever the problem is, we can all talk about it together and figured it out," Jean offered placing a hand on mine and Kurts's shoulder.

"There is nothing to talk about!" I fumed and shoved her arm away.

My defensive side was taking control.

That's what always happened even as a child whenever I didn't know how to react properly in a situation, I would become really defensive.

"This is a lie and you know it. Something is going on, and we can find a solution together, whatever you two are fighting over, it can't be more important than the bond that you have with each other," Jean said again and I shook my head.

"Nothing is going on! And don't bother get in my head to search for answers, you won't find any," I said and walked away.

-Time Skip-

I have been avoiding the others since our fight and they were going crazy.

Calling me and messaging me all the time, I had to put my phone on silent.

I had begun to feel guilty, but how can I go back?

What do I say?

What if Kurt had already told them when l left?

So many thoughts running through my head.

So many bad scenarios.

I can't deal with this.

"Kathryn Leah Pryde," I heard someone call me by my full name and I turned to look to look at them.

"Ms. Darkholme!" I shouted surprised.

"Hello to you, too, now follow me to my office please," she demanded, but I stood still. This was so happening out of the blue.

"Am I in trouble?" I asked in a whisper trying not to get her mad, everyone knows she has a short temper.

"No, well not exactly," she motioned for me to follow her and this time I did.

She led me to her office and I stood in front of her desk while she sat in her seat.

"Please, have a sit," she said, pointing to a pair of chairs in front of her desk.

I sat and waited for her to explain exactly what was going on.

"Well, Ms. Pryde I got some complains for you from some other students," she said and I raised one eyebrow.

"What kind of complains? "I asked, really surprised.

Who could complain about me?

And why?

The only people that I could think of were the brotherhood, but I don't even think they could get that low to snitch me to a teacher.

"It's about, well, that thing on your face," she said emphasizing on the "thing", and looking at me kind of disgusted.

"Excuse me?" I asked a bit shocked that someone actually complained about my scar and that the principle had this kind of reaction on the matter.

"Yes, they say it's disturbing and, well, I agree," she said and I looked down, cursing myself inside, as I realized I agreed with her too.

"How did you even get that?" She questioned and I kept staring at my lap.

"A street dog attacked me," I told her the same excuse I told everyone else, well except the team, since Logan had already told them about it.

"I see," she said nodding.

"I am going to need you to hide it," she said and I finally met her gaze.

"I have tried with make up, I can't cover it up," I admitted.

After all, it is true. I had tried to hide it, but it didn't work out, so Scott thought of this dog thing and I agreed on it.

I don't care what other people would think, I only care about them, the X-Men.

"I have a better idea," she said and stood up from her chair.

I stared at her as she walked behind me and pulled my hair tie down, causing my hair to fall down from my ponytail.

Then she walked in front of me and adjusted my hair so that it was completely covering my scar.

"That is better, I will be expecting you like that from now on," she said and sat back down taking my hair tie with her.

I was still looking at her, trying to process what just happened.

"You are dismissed," she said, so I stood up and walked out.

This woman was crazy.

-Time Skip-

I decided to leave school early, get some fresh air away from the brotherhood, away from the X-Men and away from Ms. Darkholme.

Good thing that the thunder had slightly stopped.

(Third point of view)

Ms. Darkholme stared at her window, from where she could see Kathryn exiting the school grounds.

"Today is finally my chance," She muttered to herself and grinned maliciously.

Someone knocked on the door, interrupting her thoughts.

"Come in," she answered and the whole Brotherhood team walked in.

"Finally!" She exclaimed turning to meet Lance, Pietro, Fred, Todd and Anne.

Todd hid behind Fred, Pietro smirked, Lance rolled his eyes and Anne just stared emotionlessly.

"Now I have a job for you and I am warning you, this mission needs to be carried out as quietly as possible, so no funny business!" Raven Darkholme shouted at them and she turned into her true form.

Her brown hair turned fiery red, her previously chocolate brown eyes turned golden, her formal attire changed to a combat white dress with a pair of high heel boots and her beige complexion morphed into reptilian-like blue.

Mystique stood in front of them.

"What's the plan?" Pietro asked confidently.

"Our target is one of the X-Men," Mystique said

"Which one?" Todd asked, still behind Fred.

"The ShadowCat," She answered coldly and Pietro laughed.

"ShadowCat, like Kathryn? Kathryn Pryde? I could take her out with just one move!" He said cockily and Mystique slammed her hand on her desk loudly, causing Todd to gasp and hide farther away.

"You should never underestimate your enemies! I never do!" she lashed out.

"At least not anymore," she mumbled, her voice just above a whisper.

"What do you want from her?" Lance asked while leaning on the wall behind him.

"I want her on my side," she finally said and Lance shook his head.

"There is no way Kitty would leave her goody X-Geeks for us," Lance said knowing without a doubt that Kathryn would prefer to jump off a cliff than to join them.

"Yeah, sadly Rocky is right, why would she want to work with us? Wait! Are you going to blackmail her?" Pietro pondered and Mystique shook her head

"Even better, she had a fight with Kurt Wagner and has been avoiding him and the others all day long. she is alone and if I push her bottoms just right, it might result in her abandoning the X-Men for good," she finally said and the brotherhood exchanged a look with each other.

"What if she doesn't?" Anne whispered.

"Then I have other card on my sleeve," she said not giving them to much information.

"Which is?" Pietro asked letting his curiosity lead him.

"Memory manipulation. I have a telepath that would be willing to do the job for me," she said and Anne's eyes widened.

"Anyways, what I want you do is make sure no X-Men interrupts my chat with her, was I clear?" She demanded and everyone nodded.

"How are you going to approach her anyways?" Todd asked.

"She is in distress, and feels lost without the X-Men on her side and me being the good friend I am, I will give her a helping hand," she said as she sat on her chair and turned into a smirking Scott Summers.
