We got into the forest, not really deep just enough to put a distance between us and the institute.
I brought my bow with me, I bet I'll need it. I placed it on the ground for the time being.
Evan had the idea to actually practice the dance, so that the loud music could lead Sabretooth to us.
I didn't really agree with the idea, but it was his plan.
Evan grabbed his phone and turned the music on.
I felt a sudden shyness take over me.
I don't know how I feel about dancing in front of people, but this was Rogue and Evan, so why was I so shy about it?
I listened to the music for a while and began dancing to the beat.
Rogue was doing some slow movements, not matching the rhythm of the music.
"Come on Rogue! Get on with it! Shake that thing!" Evan encouraged her, but Rogue stopped and I stopped too.
We were doing this together.
"Look I got my own moves!" she said, defending herself.
"Hey, listen what if you gave K-Girl over here a little touch?" Evan said, and at moment I thought he was joking.
Oh, shit, he was damn serious.
"No way in hell!" She yelled at Evan.
"Not happening," I said calmly.
"Oh, come on, just a little bit, to take Kath's moves," he said and I was still not sure about this, but Rogue seemed kind of convinced.
"It might work, you just have to concentrate on them," she said to me and I looked at the ground, thinking how wrong this could go.
Come on, Kathryn Pryde, don't be such a coward.
I can do this.
"Ok, but you better not lay me out," I said and she took her glove off.
I gave her my hand and she placed her own in mine.
I felt my energy being absorbed.
I gasped in pain and pulled away, turning my back on them.
I hugged my arms to my chest, as I felt myself shiver, since I haven't recovered yet form her touch.
I felt breathless, and I could hear Anne's breath too.
A hand was placed on my shoulder, I was about to pull away but the hand moved away on its own.
"You, okay?" Rogue asked, concern in her voice.
"Yeah, yeah I am fine," I answered quickly and relaxed.
"Alright then, let's get on with it," Evan said, turning his camera on.
Rogue and I began dancing in the music and at one point we were dancing with each other.
"Looking good! Looking good!" Evan encouraged as he kept filming.
Suddenly I heard a roar making me and pause look at the direction.
Rogue took a step back, but Evan, who got spooked, fell to the ground taken off guard by Sabretooth.
He walked closer to us, stepping on Evan's phone, turning the music off and breaking the phone into little pieces.
"You are mine!" He yelled and grabbed Evan from the collar of his shirt and lifted him up his head.
Rogue took her glove off, and I grabbed my bow and quiver off the ground, quickly placing the quiver on my back.
"I've been expecting you," Evan declared and made his spikes pop out from his body.
"You got to be sharp if you are gonna mess with the Spyke," Evan shouted and Sabretooth threw him at Rogue.
Rogue hit the ground hard with Evan on top of her, both of them falling unconscious.
"Then I will take you!" He said and run towards me.
"Yeah, I am sure you will," I said, rolling my eyes, and phased through him, as he tried to catch me.
He run straight to a tree, dizzying him.
I turned my attention back to Rogue as she began moving, trying to stand up.
She opened her eyes and she looked at me, and I looked back, her eyes widening as she gasped.
Before I could fully turn around, Sabretooth suddenly slapped me harshly and I fell backwards.
The ache and the wooziness from it worsened when I hit the dry land with a strong force, losing the grip on my bow as I fell.
He was walking up to me smirking, while I tried to get back up.
"Back off, ugly!" Rogue shouted, taking his attention.
He grabbed her from her wrists, holding them up in the air refraining them from each other, making sure she couldn't touch him.
Rogue struggled and glared at the man who kept smirking, liking the situation he placed her in.
I felt blood streaming from my lip and I licked it, feeling a small cut and the metallic taste of the blood.
I took my bow back to my hands and stood up ignoring the dizziness.
I shot an arrow at his back and he recoiled in pain, letting go of Rogue, not even bothering to pull the arrow out.
Rogue fell to her knees, visibly hurt and in a weakened state.
He roared angrily and walked my way.
He kicked the bow out of my hands, shoved me to the ground and pinned my hands up my head.
I felt myself get sick, as this moment brought back old memories.
I was about to phase. but something caught my attention.
His eye, the one that I stabbed, was recovered but not fully, it was colourless.
I could see my reflection in his eyes.
I snapped out of it when I felt his hand rubbing against my head.
"And I thought I was the only one who got out of this fight with scars," he whispered into my ear making me flinch.
"What do you want?" I asked coldly.
"What I want is to get Wolverine out of that school. I want to get isolate him, a smart girl like you would understand," he said, running his hand through my hair, making me flinch away and he laughed darkly.
"You know, when I did this to your face he was pretty pissed, imagine what he would after I ...," he drifted off at the last part not letting me know his whole plan.
I was lost, I couldn't react.
"Picking on little kids, Victor?! "
Wolverines voice gave me the courage to phase out of Sabretooth's grip as Logan grabbed him and threw him to the ground.
I stood on my knees to watch the scene between the two.
"Big mistake," Logan said with rage in his voice.
"Yeah why?" Sabretooth asked grinning enjoying seeing Logan mad.
"Cause that pisses me off!" He yelled, and punched Sabretooth hard.
Sabretooth fell to the ground, he recovered faster than expected and was about to strike again, but Rogue ran from behind and and touched him, absorbing his powers.
Rogue groaned as her short hair grew longer reaching her waist, fur was now covering her whole body, her teeth were sharper and her clothes torn in some places,
"Guys, you good?" Evan asked standing up rubbing his side in pain.
I nodded.
But Rogue whined.
"Dammit! I just shaved my legs last night!" She said and I laughed slightly along with Evan.
Logan pulled my arrow off Sabretooth's side and glared at me, and I looked at the ground as he approached us.
Evan gave his hand helping me up.
"Now, did you plan this, porcupine?" He asked obviously mad at us.
"Yes, I did," Evan whispered and Logan pointed to his chest, getting in front of Evan's face.
"Then don't do it again! You could have been hurt, or worse, killed!" Logan yelled and I got scared for a moment, but honestly, he was right, we fucked this up.
"And you Kathryn! How many times do I got to tell you stay away from trouble!" He shouted at me this time, and for the first time he called me by my actual name.
We are in big trouble.
"I was helping a friend!" I yelled back standing up for Evan, unsure of where I found the courage to do so.
"You could have helped him by telling him to stay put! But no! You thought that chasing after that bastard was a better idea. Do you even think of what would have happened if I didn't reach you kids in time? You are grounded and so are the rest of you," he finally said and I met his face only to see anger and fear.
Was the great Wolverine afraid?
"I am sorry," I whispered taking everyone by surprise and his whole expression and mood changed.
He sighed and relaxed.
"It's alright, just don't do it again," he said a lot gentler.
"Does that mean we aren't grounded anymore?" Rogue asked hopefully.
"Nope, you still are," Logan said more playfully now.
"For how long?" Evan asked as Logan picked Sabretooth on his shoulders.
"I don't know, until she-wolf cuts her hair off," he said and Rogue glared at him.
We began to walk back to the institute.
"What are you gonna do with him?" Rogue asked curiously.
"I am gonna give him some time to relax," he answered smirking.
-Time Skip-
A week has passed from the battle with Sabretooth.
Professor manipulated his mind so that he would forget about Logan and the institute, the whole situation actually.
I couldn't get my mind of our interaction, it was weird but somehow familiar.
Anyways Rogue had helped me distract me from my dark thoughts.
We both tried out for the play and we both got accepted as the female lead roles.
It was fun But really this was just a onetime thing, I did it only for Rogue.
I have no intention of going back on stage, I am just fine the way I am.
I don't miss the way I used to be, I don't want to go back .
"Come on, guys, take your seats! " Evan yelled, full of excitement.
We all gathered to the small living room to watch Evan's movie.
Apparently, the project for Mr. Bee was for Evan to make a movie about what is important to him.
I sat at the sofa between Rogue and Kurt, Ororo sat on an armchair, Logan and Scott sat at the smaller sofa, while Jean sat at the arm of the sofa and Professor was in the room with his wheelchair.
"Everyone ready?" Evan asked .
"Yeah, dude!" Kurt yelled, hugging his popcorn.
"May I?" Jean asked taking a handful of Kurt's popcorn and Rogue rolled her eyes at her.
"Ok!" Evan shouted and began the movie on the TV, while he sat down at the floor next to Ororo's chair.
"Welcome to Bayville, my new home," Evan's voice was heard through the video, which was showing our town, Bayville.
"It's really kind of laid back, compared to New York where I am from, but I am used to it," Evan spoke again, showing the outside of the mansion.
"This is me! Evan Daniels, I am a skater! " he said showing himself to the camera while skating.
"This film is about what is important to me, and that is my family," I heard and moved uncomfortably as the video showed us, having martial art practice at the garden of the institute with Logan.
"Those guys aren't my real family, but they kind of took me in," he said and the scenery changed.
Now it showed Scott and Kurt cleaning Scott's convertible.
Kurt was spraying water, while Scott washed it off with a towel.
"Like any family, we are all different. That's Scott, he's cool, but can be kind of stiff," Evan said and Scott smiled at the camera.
"Kurt usually takes care of that problem," he said and Kurt sprayed Scott with water and started laughing, but soon stopped when Scott threw the wet towel to Kurt's face.
We all laughed at the scene.
Change of scenery again.
Now it showed Jean making a sculpture of Professor, in his office while he posed strictly.
"The Prof, is like my new dad, he is alright and that is Jean this girl has talent," Evan said and moved to the next scene which had Ororo playing the piano.
"This is Aunty Ororo at the piano. She is a real classy lady," he said and Ororo gave a smile at the camera.
"Speaking of classy ladies, this is Rogue and Kath," he said and the screen showed us dancing right before Sabretooth had attacked.
Well, now it makes sense why he wanted us to dance to attract Sabretooth.
"Rogue is mysterious and dark, just like the books she loves to read. She is also pretty loving. Weird mix, don't you think?" He said and showed Rogue reading a book on the living room.
The scenery changed... to me!
I looked blankly at the screen as it showed me siting on my balcony at night watching the sky.
"This is Kathryn, she loves to stare at the night sky, she is a really loyal friend and really overprotective of me, everyone actually," he said and I blushed a bit.
"We all usually get along pretty good, you know? But even when someone gets mad at me, they are still there when I need help, that's what being a family is all about. Sticking together for good and bad and these guys always stick with me.
So, this film is about my new amazing family!"
He said and the movie ended with a smiling Evan.
He was right, we were a family, there is no doubt about that.
How lucky did I get to be stuck with those people?
I thought smiling at everyone around as we all together cheered for Evan.
