Hell yes! School is over! Summer break, here we come!

I cheered in my head, while the bus drove us to our destination.

Professor and his ideas, I thought and rolled my eyes.

He said that he wanted us to make a choice, either go into a mountain camp with other students from Bayville high, or survival training with Wolverine.

Sadly, most of the guys, well everyone except me, voted for the camp.

Survival with Wolverine would have been more fun.

And the worst part, the brotherhood is joining this camp too.

What a coincidence. I thought sarcastically, and turned to look at the back seats where the brotherhood had settled.

Blob with Todd and Lance with Pietro were sitting next to each other.

I looked at Lance and I was surprised to find him looking back at me.

I sent him a glare and he laughed.

"Asshole," I whispered and returned to the front again.

"What?" Rogue asked confused and I turned to her next to me.

I just pointed at the back with my thumb and she looked at the direction I pointed at and then back at me.

"What's the deal between you and him?" She asked turning to me.

I didn't real know what to tell her.

"It's complicated," I said and she raised an eyebrow at me.

"Complicated, how?" She asked and now I was the one confused.

"What do you mean?" I asked her and she shook her head laughing.

"I mean, is he your ex or something?" She said and I almost chocked on my own spit.

"What? Why would you think that??" I asked, still in shock.

"Well, he is flirting with you and you seem so affected by him. I thought it was obvious," she explained and I stared at her blankly.

Lance was flirting with me?

I shook that thought out of my head and quickly pulled myself together.

"Alright, I don't blame you for assuming that, but I wouldn't date Lance Alvers even if he was the last man on earth. End of conversation." I said and crossed my arms feeling sick only by the idea of me and Lance together.

How would that even work out?

Simply it wouldn't. I thought to myself again.

"Whatever you say, sugar," she as we begun to get off the bus.

"Hello, I am sergeant Hawk and I will be training you. Now get in line!" Shouted a brown-haired man, who was wearing a white T-Shirt and black shorts. He was probably around 30 maybe 35 years old. The color of his eyes wasn't visible since he wore sunglasses, he also has covered his head with a white hat.

I grabbed my bag and hanged it to my shoulder and stood next to Scott, as we all got into a straight line in front of the bus.

We were like 16 kids.

Scott was wearing a sleeveless white shirt with brown pants, and his usual red sunglasses.

I looked around, trying to locate other familiar faces.

Next to Scott on the other side stood Jean.

Her long red hair was now in a braid, she wore a green tank top, denim shorts and brown high boots without heels.

I looked next to me and met Rogue.

Rogue was wearing black leggings, a long-sleeved black shirt and her black gloves. Poor Rogue, she had to cover her skin for obvious reasons, but in the summer heat, it's literally hell for her.

Next to Rogue, was Kurt, who of course had his image inducer on. He was wearing a blue t-shirt and matching pants.

Lastly, Evan, who wore a white shirt and black shorts.

I was actually wearing a purple oversized shirt and black leggings, nothing out of the ordinary.

I stopped looking at my teammates and began examining my surroundings.

In the middle of the area was a small camp fire and wooden benches.

I looked further and saw ropes hanging form a wooden base, the ropes were leading to two small boats into a lake, it was probably a space meant for a training exercise.

Apart from that the place was full of all kinds of trees, grass, flowers and plenty of fresh air.

Reminds me of Deerfield Forest.

I thought, but was quickly brought back to reality by Sergeant Hawk.

"Now! Here we have a young man, Scott Winters," Hawk said and I had to hold with all my might not to laugh, compared to the brotherhood who laughed out loud.

But seriously Winters?

"Summers," Scott corrected with a straight face.

"Whose scholastic Achievements in Bayville high, have made him leader of the group. You all are following his lead," he said and I saw the brotherhood glaring at Scott, especially Lance.

His eyes moved to me and I smirked at him, enjoying that we got the upper hand one's more.

"You have five minutes to settle and report to the training field. Dismissed." Hawk shouted and walked away.

Once he was out of sight Kurt sat at the floor and sighed.

"I will be dead in two days!" He complained and I laughed.

It wasn't that bad.

I could also hear other kids complaining as they moved their stuff to the camp, on contrary with us, who still sat in front of the bus, hovering over Kurt.

"What about me?! I am a city kid!" Evan whined.

"What did we ever do to deserve this?" Kurt said dramatically and I burst out laughing but covered it with a cough.

"Sorry," I whispered and Rogue picked her bag off the floor placing it on her shoulders.

"I am going AWOL! Anyone knows how not to crush a school bus?" She asked and moved to the door but Scott stopped her by grabbing her shoulder.

"Whoa! Whoa! Slow down, Rogue, we are not washing out in front of the whole school, besides, professor suggested this place," Scott said and Jean nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, at least he gave us a choice. Survival training here or with Wolverine," she said and I walked next to her.

"I told you we should have picked Wolverine," I said and everyone looked at me like I was an alien or something.

"What?" I asked raising my eyebrows.

"You need to stop hanging out with Logan that much," Evan said and everyone nodded.

I was slightly still confused, but I just brushed it off.

"Come on guys we can do this," Scott said and placed an arm around my shoulder as we walked to camp.

(Third point of view)

The brotherhood watched as the X-Men chatted next to the school bus.

"Group leader, scholastic Achievements, that should have been me," Fred said and Pietro laughed.

"You can't even spell scholastic Achievements Blob!" Pietro said and Blob hit his fists with one another.

"But I can spell doomed, which is what that goody-goody team will be after I get them alone in the woods," Fred said angrily and Todd approached.

"Yeah, I could hear it now. Missing teens in the woods, no traces found," Todd said pretending to be a news reporter and laughed along with the group, everyone except Lance.

Lance wasn't really paying attention to them until that moment, he was more focused on a specific someone.

"Whoa, easy guys, we are gonna beat them, where it hurts the most, in public, in front of everyone. Let's go," he said as he looked at Kathryn walking at the camp with Scott having his arm around her.

And he glared hard at him.

I am gonna beat that son of a bitch, no matter what it takes.

He thought and went his way.

-Time Skip-

(Kathryn's Point of View)

We were at the training field and Scott was climbing on the ropes I had seen before, with Lance.

It was a two-person competition, the brotherhood chose Lance to represent them, and we, well Scott, chose himself.

They climbed quickly, they reached the boats and began untying them.

"You swim?" Lance asked Scott.

"Yeah,"Scott answered proudly but Lance smirked and I knew he was about to do something stupid.

"Pity," Lance said and shook the earth beneath Scott and he fell into the lake.

Lance got on the boat and started paddling to the other side and I rolled my eyes.

"That cheating, cheat!" Evan said angrily and popped spikes out of his arm, Jean grabbed his arm.

"Listen, we agreed not to use our powers here remember? Just man against nature," she said and I scoffed.

"Not much of a challenge," I said and she sighed, letting go off Evan's arm, approaching me.

What was the big deal anyway?

"Look, I know you have spent the most of your life in the forest, but not everyone has this kind of experience that you have, in this kind of environment," she explained and I nodded in understandingly.

Nothing else to say, she was right.

I turned back to the game.

"And guys, don't worry, Scott is cool, he will handle this like a good leader should," the moment Jean said that Scott blasted Lance out of the boat with his optic blast and got on it.

"Or not," I said disappointed in Scott.

I expected Scott to be more mature.

This was such a shitty move; someone could have seen that and we would have been screwed.

Scott reached the other side and passed the finish line.

Everyone except me and Jean cheered.

Lance splashed the water angrily and the brotherhood approached us, I raised my eyebrows at them, knowing they were coming for trouble.

"Slim blasted him and you know it!" Fred said pointing at us.

"Yeah, it's because he slipped into the bath and the guy went ballistic!" Pietro said throwing his arms in the air.

I didn't agree with Scott's ways, but I wouldn't let those assholes insult us.

"Slipped? More like avalanched!" I said stepping closer to Pietro.

"He stole that first-place ribbon!" Todd said getting between me and Pietro.

"He did not!" Kurt yelled

"You want that ribbon so bad? I'll pin it to your forehead, freak!" Rogue shouted.

"Yeah, your guy is the one who cheated!" Evan protested.

"The hell he was! " Pietro yelled and after that our voices blended with one another as we fought.

I couldn't even understand what we were saying at some point.

"Cut it off! All of you!" Hawk shouted getting between us.

We all stopped but couldn't help but glare at each other.

-Time Skip-

Hawk was scolding us, especially Scott and Lance, I wasn't really paying attention again.

"You won't to prove how tough you are. You will split up into two groups. The group that gets the flag from the top of the mountain, wins. Was I clear?" He asked.

"Yes, sir," we said in unison.

"The team can rest! I can get it myself," Pietro said and I rolled my eyes.

"Not if I beat you there, buddy," Kurt stepping up to Pietro.

"The whole team or no one," Hawk yelled.

"Yes, sir!" We said again and the coach seemed pleased.

"Alright, you leave in 5 minutes, get ready," Hawk said and I was about to walk away but Lance's voice stopped me, the others kept walking.

"You better say your fair wells Winters, because you and your friends aren't coming back," Lance threatened and I laughed inside at the name change, Scott got pretty offended though.

"Something in mind Avalanche? Because I -" Scott said, but was cut off by Jean.

"What do you think you are doing?" Jean asked him warningly.

"What nothing! I just had enough about those guys getting away with everything while we are stuck playing by the rules," Scott shouted at Jean frustrated.

He didn't play by the rules when he blasted Lance out of the boat.

He played as dirty as Lance did.

"Hey! We don't need our powers to beat you!" Lance said face to face with Scott.

"Alright than, we will all play fairly, and you know what? We will be waving to you from the top," Scott said pointing at Lance's chest.

"We'll see about that, Summers, we'll see about that," Lance said slapping Scott's arm away.

Scott didn't say another word, he just turned his back and walked away with Jean.

I was about to follow them, but then I felt a familiar grip on my arm and I groaned.

"You can still join the winning team Kitty," he said and I turned to him with a smirk.

"Already have," I said and phased my arm out of his.

I felt a small vibration beneath me and laughed darkly.

"Oh, did I hit a nerve?" I asked smirking turning to face him.

It felt so good to be the one annoying him for once.

"Why?" He asked seriously and I stopped smirking.

"What why?" My voice softened.

"Why did you choose them over me?" He said, his voice gentle.

And for a moment, just a moment, I saw hurt in his eyes.

Was he hurt because I chose the X-Men?

Anyway. It doesn't matter.

"Because they didn't use me and actually cared about me, unlike you," I said and walked away not leaving him any time to reply.

My words left my mouth more bitter than I expected, but he deserved it.

A part of me though couldn't help but wonder, did he really deserve it?

I walked back to camp, to see everyone getting ready.

I just sat down on a bench and checked if my knives were still in my black boots and waited making sure I didn't lose them.

I heard footsteps approach, getting closer and closer, so I looked up to see Scott.

"What?" I asked as he looked back at me.

"Take your bow with you," he ordered and began walking away, but I stood up and run after him.

"Whoa, whoa! What are you talking about? That is cheating " I yelled and blocked his way, grabbing people's attention

"And the knives aren't?" He whispered pointing at my waist.

"They are for emergency only," I explained

"Take your bow with you, please as a favor to me," he pleaded and I sighed.

What was I supposed to do?

"Okay," I agreed and took my bow and quiver out of my luggage.

I don't like the way Scott's acting today, I thought as I wore my quiver tying it to my back and chest.
