We were on our way to the mountain and Scott was acting like a maniac.
We have been running nonstop for at least 30 minutes straight, under the merciless sun.
"Come on, let's pick it up! We are almost at the base!" Scott shouted to us.
A breathless Rogue ran next to me.
I could see sweat running down her forehead.
"What's wrong with him today?! He's worse than Logan!" She said tiredly.
"Say that again," I said between breaths as I moved a piece of my sticky hair out of my face, even though it was in a ponytail.
"The only thing he cares about is winning this thing!" I added.
I can't believe Scott is making us do this.
"Shit, if I pass out from dehydration, you are making Scott carry me!" Rogue yelled and I laughed.
"Sure thing," I reassured her.
"Ahh," we both stopped as we heard Kurt groan in pain from behind.
"Kurt?" Rogue asked.
"You, okay?" I asked as we walked to him.
"Yeah, yeah sorry, just a small pain on my right side," he said and me and Rogue shared look.
"Can someone tell me why mosquitos are the size of birds here?" Evan said as he reached us.
And we all looked at him blankly as he scratched his body, which it was full of red spots. mosquito bites.
"What's wrong guys?" He asked worriedly
I sighed.
"I told you we should have picked Logan," I muttered more to myself than anyone else.
It'll be a miracle if all of us get out of this alive.
"I am done, no more running," Rogue announced and sat on the ground.
"Guys? What are you doing?" Jean asked as she reached us.
"Rogue is dehydrated, Kurt has pain in his lower abdomen, Evan is getting attacked by gigantic mosquitoes and I am losing my patience with our dear leader," I said to her, crossing my arms.
"He is just excited and doesn't realize that you guys aren't, come on we can do it, together," she said and we all sigh together.
"Fine," we all said simultaneously to Jean.
"Come on, brother," I said to Kurt as I stayed behind with him, going slowly so Kurt wouldn't hurt himself.
Jean, Rogue and Evan passed us and ran up.
-Time Skip-
We successfully climbed up the first part of the mountain, but there was still a lot to come.
Kurt's pain was relieved and he climbed up to Scott with Evan.
I reached them and saw them talking with each other, but suddenly Kurt teleported and came back quickly.
"It's still there, we are very close," he said referring to the flag and I walked up to them.
"You said no powers! You made a deal in front of me!" I accused Scott and he placed an arm around me.
"Come on Kath, we just checked to see if the flag was still there, no biggie," he said and I pushed his arm away.
"You are doing exactly what you blamed Lance of! You are cheating!" I said and put a distance between him and me.
"Kathryn, listen please, forget it. Can you just get this rope up there with your bow?" He asked and I glared at him.
"Never mind," he said and turned to Evan.
"Evan, spike this up there," he ordered.
"Are you sure?" Evan asked looking between me and Scott.
"Yes," Scott said and handed the rope to him, and I shook my head in disappointment.
"You seem pretty sure to me," Evan said and spiked the rope to the top.
"That flag is ours," he shouted excitedly, but his excitement was cut short when Jean and Rogue reached us.
Jean had that deep glare; I have never seen before.
She walked to Scott and he handed her the rope, so she could climb up first, but she scoffed and begun climbing by hand on the rocks and we followed after her.
-Time Skip-
We have been climbing for a while now but we were really close to the flag.
The view up here was beautiful you could see the whole forest from up here.
"Here it is! Victory!" Scott yelled smiling but his smile fell once the earth shook.
Evan screamed as he lost his balance and begun falling down, I grabbed him on an instinct but instead of holding him up, he took me down with him.
He screamed loudly as we fell, but I grabbed the knife out of my waist and stuck it into the rocky mountain.
I sighed in relief.
"Oh God, Oh God, oh God," Evan said holding into me for dear life.
"Hey, it's ok, we are ok," I reassured him and he nodded.
"Thanks for helping me," he said as he took deep breaths.
"Always," I said, but I was struggling to keep us up.
I was holding myself and Evan with one hand from my knife.
"Hold on!" Jean yelled and I felt a weird sense all over me.
"Whoa!" I exclaimed, not liking that feeling at all.
We were lifted in the air by Jean and moved back to safety with her telekinesis.
When my legs touched the ground, I placed my knife back in my belt and I also checked my bow and quiver.
But suddenly I felt someone embracing me.
"Don't you ever do this to me again," Kurt said and I hugged him back.
"No promises," I said inside his shoulder and he sighed.
"Dude!" Kurt yelled and hugged Evan, while Jean checked him for injuries.
Then Rogue placed her hand on my shoulder
"You, okay?" Rogue asked and I nodded.
"Evan?" I asked
"He is fine, just spooked, who wouldn't be? He almost passed out on me when I hugged him two minutes ago," she said smiling and I nodded again.
"That easily could have been the end of The Spyke and ShadowCat, we are some lucky sons of bitches," Evan said and we laughed, well except one.
Scott Summers.
"That must have been Lance, he must be close. Jean takes us all to the top!" He said and my jaw dropped.
Was he for real??
We just fell of a mountain and he is gonna act like nothing happened?
"Forget it! No way," Jean said obviously mad.
"What? You just used your powers! What's the difference?" He said and I got in front of him.
"This was a life and death situation, this competition isn't! You have been ignoring as all day, putting our health and life at risk for this fucking flag! Evan and I almost became crushed watermelons and you act like nothing happened! If this flag means more to you than us! Then go ahead! I won't stop you, but do not expect me to help your ass in any way ever again," I yelled at him and his features soften.
I kept staring at his glasses waiting for an answer, but instead I heard screaming.
Everyone looked at the direction of the voices and we run to it.
It was hole on the other side of the mountain.
"We caved in! Please guys don't leave us down here! Not for a stupid flag," Todd shouted.
"We won't," I answered and Scott nodded.
-Time Skip-
We pulled Todd, Pietro and Fred out, now Scott was pulling Lance up.
"Hang on to my back, I will pull you up," Scott said but lance pushed him away.
"I'll pull myself up," Lance said and they both started climbing up.
I stood away from the hole and sat next to Kurt on a rock.
"How did you got stuck down there anyway?" I asked Todd.
"I found a passage inside the mountain, that led straight to the top, but it kinda went wrong, and Lance tried to find a better way up, but with his earthquake it decayed on us," he explained and I nodded.
"Pietro" Fred said pointing at the flag.
"I am already there!" Pietro said smirking, and run to the flag with superspeed.
"Kurt!" Evan shouted and Kurt teleported to the top and grab the flag at the same time as Pietro.
They began fighting for it while Scott and Lance got out, and watched the seen with us.
Suddenly, I felt a strong breeze hitting me and a loud noise ringing in my ears.
Kurt and Pietro stopped fighting and watched as the X-Jet stood next to them.
"X-Men! Professor X is in danger and so is Mystique," Ororo explained through the Jet's speakers.
We all shared a look, brotherhood and X-Men.
"You in?" Scott asked Lance.
"Yes," he answered and we all walked inside the jet.
-Time Skip-
Inside the jet, Storm explained that Professor had a brother, a mutant named Cain, who had his mutant powers since birth. He was super strong, or unstoppable like Storm described him, or Juggernaut as he calls himself.
He was a danger to humanity, that's why Professor and the military imprisoned him somewhere far away so he wouldn't be able to cause harm.
Now he wants revenge because Professor locked him away.
Mystique freed the guy so he would attack professor, but he turned against her and is right now trying to kill them, while Wolverine was fighting to protect them.
Talk about family drama.
We all got in our suits inside the jet and reached the danger room.
Professor and Mystique were against a wall and in front of them was built man, dressed in red uniform with a huge red helmet on his head covering everything except his mouth and eyes.
Wolverine was passed out on the ground.
"Take a break, Wolverine!" Cyclops said and Avalanche continued
"We'll take it from here,"
Juggernaut was about to grab professor but Jean pulled him back with her telekinesis.
I run to the half unconscious Logan.
"You, okay?" I asked and he grabbed my arm gently to catch my attention.
"Cain's helmet. Remove it," he said and I nodded.
He let go and I stood up running to the others.
"Guys! The helmet!" I yelled and everyone nodded.
Jean couldn't hold him any longer, she let him go and fell on her knees.
Before Juggernaut could hurt her, Blob knocked him to the ground away from her.
Nightcrawler teleported and untied one part of the helmet.
"1 out! 3 to go!" He shouted and I run next to Cyclops.
Juggernaut grabbed Nightcrawler and threw him against the wall, he passed out by the hit.
Juggernaut was fighting Blob and Cyclops tried to help by blasting Juggernaut but it didn't do any damage, instead it annoyed him.
He shoved Blob into Cyclops causing them both to fall unconscious.
The Juggernaut was now moving my way, he threw himself at me, but I just phased through and untied another part, but he suddenly grabbed my leg and threw me into Rogue.
"2 to go," I yelled as we fell to the floor and Rogue groaned,
"Hi," I said smiling.
"Hello to you too," she said sarcastically and we stood up.
Quicksilver got on top of the guy whole Spyke threw Spyke at Juggernaut to distract him from Quicksilver, who untied another part.
Quicksilver was soon knocked down by Juggernaut, just like everyone else before him.
Me and Rogue run to him from behind and she untied the last part.
"Get it!" I yelled and Todd removed the helmet with his long froggy tongue.
Juggernaut begun screaming and covering his head.
"No! No!" He yelled repeatedly.
"I am sorry Cain," Professor said sadness in his voice.
Professor attacked his brother with his telepathy and now Juggernaut or Cian Xavier laid unconscious in the middle of the danger room.
We won!
Everyone cheered, together.
Brotherhood and X-Men celebrated together their Victory.
"Well, that's not something you see every day" Mystique commented.
"I agree and that's a shame," professor said and I nodded.
No matter our differences, we are all at the same page.
We are all outsiders in this world, but I guess it just doesn't work that way.
Maybe someday I'll be able to call the Brotherhood,friends.
-Time Skip-
Hours passed since Mystique and the brotherhood left, Juggernaut was moved back to his cell.
I sat on the school's yard, climbed in a tree, watching the night sky once more.
I was thinking that Pietro, Todd, Fred and Lance aren't exactly evil, they just made some bad choice, who hasn't?
But Lance... I just can't.
He made me trust him, have faith in him and it was all a fucking lie, or was it?
I thought and got comfortable in my tree branch.
I heard footsteps getting closer and closer and I didn't need to look to know who was coming.
I have learned the pattern of his footsteps by now.
"Hey," he said softly, looking at the ground.
"Hi," I said looking at the sky.
I was still mad at him about the flag thingy.
"Look, I just wanted to say sorry to you, I was being reckless and I was acting immaturely. And I wanted to thank you for making me realize that," he said and he really sounded sorry.
I smiled at him and climbed down.
"Apology 100% accepted," I said and he laughed.
"I also give you consent to beat me if I ever act that way again," he said and I patted his back.
"Believe me, i would do it anyway," I said while laughing awkwardly.
"I am sure you would," he said laughing at my reaction and I punched his hand playfully.
He then punched mine.
"Ouch," I said between laughs and his eyes widened.
"I am sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry," he said repeatedly and I laughed harder.
"I was kidding," I told him and he face palmed.
"Dammit!" He said and I kept laughing.
"Come one let's go home," he said, placing his arm around my shoulder.
No matter how many times he loses his way, I'll always be here to help him find the right path.
