Disclaimer: I do not own Hetalia

Chapter ten

"Hi everybody! Yes, I missed you too," Germany greeted his dogs the next morning, only for his dogs to charge him; excited to see their owners. They barked excitedly as they tried to nudge each other away for more attention.

"Yes, yes I'm here. Hey, no jumping!" Germany continued, only to yelp when one of the dogs accidentally pushed him over.

"Looks like they missed you," Prussia commented as he also greeted the dogs.

"That's no excuse. They know better," Germany rebutted as the dogs sniffed him to make sure he was alright.

"Ya, they also know that their owner suddenly turned into a little kid then left for no reason. Just be happy that they're happy to see you," Prussia replied. He then looked at the landline and continued, "Can you let them outside while I check the messages?"

Germany agreed and watched as the dogs sniffed around outside. They arrived so late that they went to bed as soon as they walked in. He could hear the messages in the background and thought they sounded a lot like his boss. But why was his boss calling when Prussia told him that he was not going to work?

"Sorry Wes, I know we just got back but I gotta go meet your boss," Prussia explained as he walked into view.

"Okay, have fun," Germany commented as he continued to sit on the floor and pet the dogs which rushed back up to him.

"Wes, you're at most eight. I can't leave you alone so you gotta come too," Prussia replied.

"Oh ya…I think the dogs would make good babysitters. I mean, they are shepherds and guard dogs so it's kind of their job to watch things and people," Germany rationalized.

"I get that but…look. I know I said that getting you back to normal was my top priority but I also don't know how long that will take. So it might be a good idea to explain all this to your boss so he stops calling wondering where you are," Prussia tried to explain. Germany seemed to think the idea over for a moment, then agreed to come as he said goodbye to his saddened dogs.

Germany would not admit to it, but seeing everything as a child was so odd. Firstly, it seemed to take forever to do anything or go anywhere. Not to mention everything still seemed much too big. And how everything seemed to be either too boring or too boring.

The same feelings continued as they reached the government office to talk with his boss. His boss was surprised to see Germany as a child and demanded to know what happened. Once told, however, he failed to accept the answer. Nevertheless he and Prussia tried to keep on track and talk about what Prussia needed to do while Germany was a child. Their boss, unsure how to speak business with an eight year old, more or less ignored Germany.

Germany quickly grew bored when he realized that he was being ignored. Tired of the bored feeling, he announced he was leaving and left the office. As he walked in the hallway, he noticed a playground across the street and decided that it was much more interesting.

With this in mind, he walked over to the playground and decided to play in a sandbox. He noticed other kids playing in the jungle gym, but decided that he did not want to interrupt their game. He had just succeeded in building a fairly large mound when a little girl laid down next to him and asked, "Hey, you wanna bury me?"

"Why would I wanna bury you? You'll get dirty," Germany asked, confused by the request.

"Because it's fun. Come on, bury me!" The girl persisted as she began to cover herself in sand. Obediently, Germany did as he was told and soon only the girl's head remained uncovered.

"Okay, you're covered. Now what?" Germany asked.

"Now…I'm going to come back from the grave and eat you," the girl answered in a spooky voice as she slowly raised herself from the sand and looked at Germany.

"But you're not dead and this isn't a grave," Germany pointed out.

"Use your imagination, dummy. Now, I'm going to eat your brains!" The girl retorted as she took a step closer to Germany. In response, Germany pushed her over and caused her to trip out of the sandbox.

"Ow! Hey what was that for?" The girl complained as her eyes teared up from the pain and shock.

"Well if a zombie or something attacked me, I would fight it instead of run away," Germany answered, bluntly.

"You're mean, I don't wanna play with you anymore," the girl complained as she ran off to her parent.

Germany watched this, confused as to what just happened, then noticed Prussia rushed up to him and demand, "Wes, what are you doing out here? Why did you leave the building?"

"I was bored. I told you I was leaving," Germany answered.

"I thought you were just going to the bathroom, not to the park. Seriously Wes, I'm supposed to be watching you. Can't you give me a break and stay out of trouble?" Prussia complained.

"Sorry," Germany apologized as he continued to watch the little girl. Prussia noticed this and asked what he was looking at. In response, Germany continued, "That girl randomly came up to me, made me bury her, then yelled at me when I stopped her from grabbing me."

"Oh, sounds like she wanted you to play with her," Prussia decided.

"Then why didn't she just say that?" Germany asked.

"Wes, she's a little kid. As a kid she's still learning how to deal with people her own age. Seriously, you didn't realize that she wanted to play with you?" Wes explained.

Germany shook his head and mentioned that at the end she said she was playing, but that he did not realize it until Prussia explained. He frowned as he thought about that. Why did kids have to act so weird compared to the adults he was used to?

Prussia sighed and thought aloud, "Honestly Wes, I know you've never been that good with people but how is it possible for you to be so bad at communicating with peers while I'm so awesome? Maybe I should have taught you better when you were younger."

He and Germany's eyes snapped open and stared at each other when they realized what Prussia said. Excited Germany asked, "Bruder, maybe that's it! Last time I was little you were so focused on teaching me wars and other nation-stuff that you never taught me how to deal with people. That's something that I forgot to learn! And Norway said it would be a life skill, and dealing with people is a life skill. You did it, you figured it out!!"

"Well, did you honestly doubt your awesome brother?" Prussia asked confidently.

"Ya, but I take it back. So what do I do? Start teaching me!" Germany answered then demanded.

"Hey, easy now. I think first you should apologize to that girl for scaring her. Then we can figure out how to most effectively teach you how to make friends later," Prussia compromised as he led his brother to the little girl.

Well stop here for now
