Target Practice
Hoji, Sen, Jasmine, Umeko, and Tetsu all lined up in the shooting range. Even Swan and Doggie were there. Entering their names into their station, they prepared to open fire. Hoji got a listing of his records, all perfect scores. Sen varied between 160 and 175, Jasmine was between 140 and 160, Umeko's highest is 67, and Tetsu has only one score, his 178. This is Swan's first try since this was installed, and Doggie has two scores, both 155.
"100 shots, the bulls-eye is worth 2 points per shot, the white is one shot, if you miss, you miss." Tetsu explained to Swan as she picked up her gun.
"Simple enough." She states, taking aim.
"Ready?" Hoji called down the line.
"GO!" Doggie barks and everyone begins to fire.
Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, and bang.
Hoji remain calm and focus. Sen makes a face every time he hits the white part of the target. Jasmine watches Umeko after each shot. Umeko is quite content whenever she misses. Tetsu doesn't understand Umeko as he misses again, once every four shots he once said. Swan keeps an expressionless face. One could only guess what the blue dog beside her was thinking.
Halfway through, Doggie wears the top part of his uniform around his waist, having removed it because he was getting rather warm before he continued to fire. Swan also removed her lab coat and hung it on the metal bar. Tetsu continues to fire, hitting the target in the center. Umeko shows a disappointed look after she gets a bulls-eye. Jasmine hits three bulls-eyes in a row. Sen scratches his head when he misses the target entirely. Hoji fires another shot, and got a startling comment from Doggie, who was on the other end.
"You missed dead center by a millimeter."
"What? How could you tell?" Hoji calls down. Doggie doesn't turn to him as he replies.
"The sound of hitting dead center is different from missing it." He states, "But then, I have the qualities of your human dogs, so you wouldn't know."
"I still hit the bulls-eye!" Hoji called, before going back to shooting.
Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, and bang.
Sen puts his gun down, having finished his 100 shots; he got a score of 171. Umeko continues to fire, her face indifferent when she hits the white part of the target. Swan fires another bulls-eye. Hoji, after Doggie's surprised comment, soon places in 3 dead center shots. Jasmine places her gun down, a score of 155. Tetsu frowns as he hits the white part of the target again. Doggie places his gun down, nodding in approval of his score, 199.
"Can't get closer then that." He mutters, the screen still said perfect, since he was right under the 200 mark.
Umeko soon finished; her score of 70. She squeals in delight. Jasmine praised her, as did Sen. Tetsu finishes with a score of 175. Hoji concluded another perfect run, then walked over to where Swan was nodding her head happily. Everyone soon gathered around, and they all gasped.
"I think you have a rival, Hoji." Doggie states, putting his uniform back on. When Hoji got a glimpse at the score, he nearly fell down. Swan had a perfect score of 200.
"Not bad for my first time." Swan comments, putting the gun down.
"What? This is only your first time, Swan-san?" Tetsu gasped aloud, not believing his ears.
"I'm a mechanic, not a fighter." Swan comments, "Today I just felt like trying it out, seeing how I'd do." She picks up her lab coat and looks at the team, "Just keep steady and you'll get through anything, right?"
"Right." They all said, then they all filed out of the room.
"I wonder if I did better because of what Dinoblue (abaranger) did to my back?" Doggie wonders as he turns the lights out, "It helped with my sword techniques."
