So you might be wondering; where the heck did I go?

Well, November came up and as a result, so did NaNoWriMo. It's something of a challenge where the writer tries to write an entire story, about 50000+ words, daily for the entire month of november. And I decided to give it a shot because in the many years of me writing, I never once tried it.

And boy, was it tough; people like to joke that not wanking it for the entire month, or No Nut November, is a hard challenge. My man, just try to write a story every single day, with a specific wordcount, all the while working a job that takes up most of your time even on a good day. And then it turned out the story I was working on was posted on October 31st, the day before the challenge, so it doesn't even count.

Fun.

Anyway, holidays are coming up, so I won't be able to write for this month much, but I thought I'd at least update at least one of my stories here on Fanfic Net. If I'm lucky, this won't be the only story to update.

Now, without further ado, let's go!

Rita and Lynn Sr. had enjoyed their stay in Loch Loud so far.

They had decided to take a short vacation to this spot once they stumbled upon a fact that one of Lynn Sr's ancestors were actually nobles hailing from the duchy, and they decided to check out what they had been missing for several years.

Of course, that wasn't the only reason they took the trip to Loch Loud; and they were going to tackle that other reason before heading back home.

"You know, Lynn? This trip has been fun," Rita frowned as she and Lynn Sr walked towards the castle. "But I really wish we could've brought the kids with us. I feel like they would've had fun as well."

"I really wanted to bring them too, sweetie, but you know why we had to leave them back in Royal Woods," Lynn Sr. replied, patting his wife's back. "We need to verify if that other thing we found is true or not, and if it is, then it's too dangerous to bring them along. We'll tell them everything when they're ready."

Rita took a deep breath. "Alright."

And so, the married couple entered the castle and walked to the library, where both retainers of the family, a woman named Morag and a man named Angus, noticed them.

"Ah, Rita and Lynn Loud!" Morag remarked. "I take it you've had a good day in the city?"

"Yeah, it was pretty nice," Rita answered. "Loch Loud as a whole, in fact, has been a very pleasant experience for us so far."

"Aye! We be happy that yer stay in Loch Loud has been nice! And let me tell ye-"

Rita smiled nervously, if only hoping that Angus would keep his rambling short. Not that she didn't appreciate his honest joy, but given that his Cliche, Pirate Talk, forced him to speak like a pirate 24/7, it kinda got annoying having to listen to him.

"Anyhow, we were wondering something," Lynn Sr interjected. "So, it appears Loch Loud doesn't have an Index System?"

"Ye've been 'ere fer a while, and ye notice just now?"

"You noticed that just now?" Morag asked. "I know it must be a big whiplash considering how integral that system is to Royal Woods, but really, your town is the only place that puts so much emphasis to it. The rest of the world is a bit more varied about it…"

Then, Morag thought of something, and lowered her eyelids as she adopted a more serious expression. "Rita. Lynn. I think I know the real reason why you came here."

The couple looked shocked at the statement… then furrowed their brows and nodded in unison.

"Follow me."

Angus stood behind to watch over the castle, which Rita internally appreciated due to no longer having to hear his monster of an accent. So, the couple followed Morag deeper into the castle, the woman folding her arms behind her back as she spoke:

"So, I take it that things in Royal Woods have developed in a way that has prompted you to come to this duchy in order to look for answers?"

"We can't say much, but we'd be lying if we said that things haven't happened that have made us curious as to what's going on," Lynn Sr. said. "We were told you could help us?"

Morag simply nodded, and the trio kept walking until they reached the library, at which point the woman got on a ladder and began checking the bookshelves.

"My Cliche is Flashback. As long as I have enough information to reconstruct the event in question, I can help you look at a past event so you can see what happened. I can show you what happened a few days ago, years ago, or even eons ago. However, as this is just a reconstruction, you won't be able to interact or change anything within it."

Eventually, Morag found the book she was looking for, and jumped off the ladder before joining the couple once again. She showed them the cover of the book, with the title reading "Originality Wars: The True Story" in bold letters, then opened and read it before closing her eyes.

Morag stomped on the ground once, and the ground began to change, with the change spreading across the library until it transformed to resemble a grassfield in the middle of nowhere. People were soon to follow, represented as pitch black figures, with the figures walking around aimlessly.

"Eons ago, humanity was an ordinary species. No powers, no supernatural abilities of any kind, it was, for lack of a better term, boring."

Then, one of the figures stopped and raised their hand, right before snapping their fingers and summoning a tiny fireball by their fingertips. The figure smiled as more and more shadowy figures exhibitted powers.

"Until one day, where the first few humans developed supernatural powers soon in all the superhero and fantasy stories they had read before. These powers were so generic that they eventually decided to call them Cliches as a form of mockery."

Then, the environment changed, now resembling a city with the shadowy figures walking around uneasily, some more anxiously than others.

"When Cliches first emerged, chaos was quick to erupt. Because despite these powers being gifted to humanity, there were no monsters or villains for them to fight back. Indeed, their superpowers were starting to feel pointless."

One of the shadowy figures snapped and screamed at the top of their lungs and lunged at another shadowy figure, transforming their arms into claws before swiping at them against a hapless shadowy figure.

"Despairing at the idea that their powers had no purpose, some of the earliest Cliche Wielders snapped and began attacking one another, believing that if they couldn't use their powers against monsters or supervillains, they could use them against their own people."

The figure began to cackle maniacally, their face getting splashed by the blood of their victim.

"These madmen who would go so far as to attack their own kind just to give themselves purpose were dubbed... Antagonists."

Until eventually, the clawed Antagonist was struck by an energy blast, sending them sliding away from their victim.

"But naturally, for every person who chose to use their powers to attack their own kind..."

The figure turned around to see another shadowy figure facing them, hand extended forward and morphed into a buster as they glared at the antagonist.

"There was another who used those powers to protect them."

The clawed figure roared before running towards the buster figure, who charged their buster before releasing a charged shot that sent the clawed figure flying and crashing into a building.

"These figures were dubbed... Protagonists."

The other shadowy figures cheered for the protagonist, who waved at them with a smile.

"And those who were to stay by the sidelines to let the Protagonist and Antagonist sort things out by themselves... Neutrals."

However, the clawed figure soon jumped out of the building, spitting out a tooth before dashing to the buster figure... until a flash of light stunned them both.

"But just when it seemed like purpose had been found, a sudden arrival caught everyone's attention. One that claimed to have been sent by those who had provided the Cliches in the first place, and had been summoned to bring order onto the chaotic world."

The light dissipated, and everybody stared in awe, the Loud parents staring with shock as they saw a woman had been placed between the shadowy figures. but most strikingly was that she had a full form compared to the other humans.

She had a slender figure with a white dress and golden accents, with long flowing white hair whose underside constantly glowed like a rainbow itself, but not in a way that made it a sight for sore eyes-thank the lord.

"The name of this mediator, who would go on to bring a new world order, was..."

The woman opened her eyes, revealing her pupils had all the colors of the rainbow inside them.

"Mary Sue."

The woman, now revealed to be Mary Sue, stared at the shadowy figures before flashing a smile... one that sent shivers down the Loud parents' spines...
