Despite his boasts, our last confrontation had proven to me that the demon could be hurt. I would need to be patient and bide my time in order to take the opportunity that I knew would eventually come. I could wait a lifetime for that moment but I didn't care anymore. I was past that now. Time was my friend and an eternity of blood, my destiny. I would make this monster pay. He will know fear; he will taste the bitterness of defeat and look into the eyes of the dragon, as his life force spills onto the ground before him. Look upon me demon, for I am darker and more terrible than thee. I am that dragon and you are my prey.
Luz, silently listened as King spoke of the Isle's Earliest History. How its inhabitants used magic freely from the start until a mysterious witch showed up and declared dynamic leadership over the all under the stars of the Demon Realm, creating his corrupted system, subjugating all of the Isles, restraining them indefinitely and punishing those who dared to rebel.
"Emperor Belos has since retreated into his castle. There are whispers that say he's planning something big." As she heard this story, Luz looked like she was preparing herself for war, as she put a special garment that made her look like one of her ancestors. A blue militaristic side button jacket with leather belts strapped across her chest, and another belt secured around her waist, long white trousers with brown foreleg length leather boots, and with long brown leather gloves, Luz was almost the spiting image...of Richter Belmont. Securing her weapons, silver daggers at her chest belts, flasks of holy water and Victor blade at her right side, her newly equipped Morning Star whip at her left, her father's original whip behind her as a backup. She then turned to the cape Eda had made for her, reading the tag that said "To a young Belmont from her proud friend -EDA", and this causes her to clench the woven fabric tightly in her fist.
"I wonder if catching Eda was part of his big plan." King says. "What do you think, Luz?"
Seeing his human friend put the new cape over her shoulders, King feels unnerved by the way Luz is as she responds "Whatever he has planned, Eda will have outlived her usefulness to him. That is why I must save her."
"Luz...are you sure about this?" King asked. "You were barely able to handle Lilith, and Belos is the most powerful witch alive. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't more than worried about your chances of survival with this."
"King, please try to understand. Eda is in this situation because of me. Because of the choices I made. I have to make up for it."
"Well then, I'm going too." the little demon replied.
"King..." Luz sighed.
"Me and Eda don't always see eye-to-eye, but I do consider her family. I want her back as much as you do." And with that, King tried to move forward ahead of Luz.
"I know you do..." Luz replied, right before she grabbed King by the tails and pulled him back. The little demon was caught by surprise when Luz threw something at his face. It turned out to be sleeping powder as the little demon was out like a light. "...But this is my fight. And I won't let anyone else pay for it." And so, Luz puts the sleeping King down and moves out of the house.
Eda was physically and emotionally broken. She pushed herself to the limit by using the Morning Star, knowing full well of the consequences from its after effects, she believed that Luz had perished for nothing and now her is she, on her knees and chained to a platform in the Emperor's Throne room. Lilith came over and kneeled before her, having a look of pity on her face. The younger sister was trying to recollect the last few hours of what has occurred, and the only thing that came to mind was that Desu had tricked her. And now that she has finally accomplished at capturing Eda, she feels torn by how it came to be this way.
"...I didn't want it like this, Edalyn..." She said to her sister, who had her head down, refusing to look at her. "But you have to understand, I did what I thought was right, and I did it for your own good."
It was then that Eda raised her head to show her face of bitter hatred and anguish as she growled "...You. Killed. Luz...!"
Lilith sighed as Eda also said "She was. Just. A Kid!"
"She was a Belmont. She was a threat to our way of life, and you would've thrown away yours be siding with her...But that's over now, Edalyn. Emperor Belos will heal you, and we'll be in his coven together. Try to find forgiveness, and we can build something new."
"...No...We won't." Eda let out, glaring so hard that it made Lilith scared of her. "Because I will never forgive you...you still have to pay for the hell that you put me through."
Lilith was saddened by this, as there seemed to be no way to get through to her. Before their conversation could continue, the door to the throne room opens and six coven guards and Kikimora enter.
"All kneel before Emperor Belos!" said the little imp before she and the guards before a pair of glowing blue eyes approach from the darkness, revealing Emperor Belos. The only one not kneeling before him was Lilith, who stood up and put on a stoic face, as she was not in the greatest of moods with her own leader."
"My Lord, as promised, my sister." She presents Eda to Belos, "And the Belmont has been dealt with. Now to hold up your end of the bargain."
Emperor Belos summons his mechanical staff and raises it, having its tip bring up Eda's chin so that she'd be force to look him in the eye. She glared and spat in his direction, not even bothering with an insult for him.
"Edalyn Clawthorne, the infamous Owl Lady, the wild witch of Bonesborough. Mentor of Luz Noceda Belmont."
Eda said nothing and held her glare, but what Belos said next caught her and the rest of the people in the room by surprise.
"I'm...very sorry for your loss. I did not wish for the child's demise. I too...cared for her...more than you think."
"What?!" Lilith said, rather angrily. "Have you any idea what the child to me and the rest of your coven, Emperor!?"
"Liltih! Know your place!" Kikimora yelled at her. "You know fully well that you cannot talk to Emperor Belos like that!"
But the Coven Head merely ignored Kikimora as she looked Belos straight in the eye and he with her.
"You've no idea what you've done, Lilith." He said. "Did you really think I wanted her dead? Did you think that would save your sister?"
"We had a deal." Lilith growled.
"Do you know what happens to those who refuse to be controlled by their fears? They must face them!"
Suddenly, Lilith's eyes went wide as she felt tremendous pain in her chest. Eda, Kikimora, and all others present watched in horror, as Lilith was stabbed in the back, through her chest...by Desu of all people.
"LILITH!" Eda cried out. She was in shock to see her only sister was raised by the sword that was plunged through her gut, her blood dripping and staining the floors. Lilith gasped, coughed and gagged on her blood as she used what little energy she had to see the stained blade and nearly grasp it before going limp. And with the deed done, Desu threw the dying Lilith to the ground as Belos let out in a roaring voice...
"Let this be a warning to all those who even dare to oppose me. Be they enemy...or ally." And then he turned to face Eda, who was fighting back against the urge to bring tears into her eyes once more. "As for you, Eda Clawthorne...before I leave you to judgement, I will gain the information I desire of your portal to the human world."
"...You'll get nothing from me!" Eda roared as she faced Belos.
"I have ways of making prisoners talk. Desu, relieve this filth from my throne room while I prepare our guest to her final resting place."
Seeing the Emperor and subordinates take his leave, the Old Necromancer took this as an opportunity to stare down at the woman he just stabbed.
"You weren't the best, my dear...but you had conviction." He then brought out a red glowing crystal ball and spoke into it, only saying "Retrieve Lilith." before taking off himself. With everyone else gone, no one was left to hear Lilith's final words.
"Edalyn...I've been a fool."
Word had spread quickly about the capture of the Owl Lady and her appending judgement. The Boiling Isles felt like this would be the sigh of relief for them, but it honestly didn't feel that way. The Eda Clawthorne on her way to becoming yet another monument of criminals in the Empire, the people began to think that this would be the end of any sort of rebellion taking place.
"In related news, the Emperor's Coven now believe to confirm the death of another rising threat to the Boiling Isles. The much debated Luz Belmont." Said news caster and father to Gus, Perry Porter, as the images on Crystal Balls turned to Kikimora.
"Not only will we say farewell to one of the last Wild Witches on the Isles, be we have already rid ourselves of the accursed Belmont."
Gus and Willow couldn't believe what they were hearing as they talked to each other through their scrolls.
"Can you believe they're saying?" He asked her, to which she replied "Luz is dead and Eda's about to be petrified? I don't even want to believe this. We have to do something!"
Various demons and witches watching the crystal balls as Perry Porter came up and said "Today may be a grave day for Bonesborough." But it was then that a shadow loomed over everyone as they saw someone walking down the road. It was Luz, and she was looking happy, holding the Morning Star in her hands tightly. King treaded behind her as she marched, her destination far ahead but visible for all to see. People were scarred stiff at the sight of her as she walked down the road, before they all turned to run and get out of her way, as if she really was the bane of their entire existence. Luz had heard everything on Crystal Ball, and it had reminded her of how the church, back in the days of her ancestor, used such propaganda to frighten and control people...only for them to pay the price afterword...
It was in Wallachia, one year after they had gotten a horrific threat from one who had been distraught and angered by the entire countryside. Instead of taking such a threat seriously, the people celebrated on that very same day a year after. The Arch Bishop had come tell the people that they were safe, blessed even...how deeply wrong he was...
"For twenty years, have I served you and God, as the Arch Bishop to Targoviste Cathedral. Yet never before have I felt the love of God shine so upon this Great City. A little more than one year ago, many of us suffered a vision, daring the God-willed punishment of a witch in our midst. The devil himself came to us and threatened us with doom in one year. And yet here were are. The devil lied. Why should we be so surprised?"
As he spoke, and the people listened like the sheep they were, the skies darkened, not with grey clouds, but with red...blood red clouds, and an unsettling thunder echoed through the clouds, yet people paid no attention, entranced by Bishop's so-called honest voice.
"Do we not know the devil for a liar? Do we not know his works to be illusion? Of course we do. Illusions and falsehoods hold no fear for us, for we are the righteous of Targoviste, living as if cradled in the love of God..."
And that's when the first drop came down, landing in the hand of the false prophet, who even in his advanced age, was shocked by the sight of the blood...beginning to rain down upon all who were present. People were beginning to be in a panic by the sight of it, as the sun was blocked out, and that wasn't the most frightening thing, for along with rain, came what looked liked blobs of flesh. But upon getting a closer look, the people saw that they were fetuses...demonic ones that were alive and screeching. The earth trembled and the stain glass windows of the church shattered, stabbing the shocked bishop as he fell from his throne. The entire cathedral was suddenly ablaze in hell fire, as if God had protected it at all. A fiery typhoon took the skies and in the moment, just as one year ago, the people of Wallachia were greeted by the man they wrong in his hellish apparition. The Prince of Darkness himself...
"...One year." Luz whispered, getting King's attention. "Huh?" Asked the little demon.
"A long time ago, a town was given one year to repent of their sins committed against a man who lost everything." Luz's eyes were shadowed by her hair as she pulls the chain of the morning star with all her strength. "Emperor Belos...will not be given even a minute."
It was safe to say that King was extremely frightened by Luz right now, but he wanted to save Eda just as much as she did.
"...Ooookaaay. Well, we should probably find a way to the Conformatorium." He then spots a nearby guard, getting an idea in his head. "We'll have to do something so diabolical, so criminally insane, that they'll have to-"
"No." Luz interrupted with a strong voice. "...We'll just let ourselves in."
"Uh...okay...but, we should at least try to be sneaky about this. We still have the element of-"
"No...I want them to know that I'm coming." And it was at that moment, Luz crossed her arms and King realized what was about to happen.
"WAIT, LUZ! NONONONONO! LUZ STOP! NO-"
"HOLY CRRROOOOOOSSSSS!"
Across the Isles, everyone could see a large, blue, flaming cross of pure energy towering over everything building, possibly visible from space as all eyes were on it. When Kikimora saw it, she almost instantly ran to find Desu and Belos gazing at it themselves.
"Emperor Belos! That cross in the sky...could this mean-?!"
"The Belmont live, Kikimora. And she's coming for the Owl Lady." said the Emperor, smiling under his mask. Desu replied "Not really that surprising anymore. That cross would be a beauty if...I was still a Holy man."
"What are you orders, Emperor Belos?" Kikimora asked.
"Have every guard available go after her. If successful in apprehending her, bring her straight to me. If not, slow her down long enough for the Owl Lady petrification to be completed."
The imp wanted to question if Belos intended to kill Luz or not, but all she was in return was "By your command, my Emperor." before turning back. Belos and Desu continued to gaze as the Cross began to dissapate in the air.
"She will come." Desu said. "You will get your chance to speak with her."
Belos asked "Are you certain that she'll hear what I have to say?"
"Well...who can say for certain?"
People outside the Conformatorium, gathered to see Eda's judgement, were surprised by the sight of illuminating cross towering over Bonesborough. Gus and Willow among them were filled with hope once more by the sight of it.
"Luz is alive." Willow said. "And she's gotta be coming here to save Eda."
"We have to help her somehow." Gus replied and that's when the two decided to split up.
Luz herself was making good time, having activated another relic of her family's past, the Cyclone Boots, allowing her to run fast enough towards the Conformatorium. Determination filled her up inside, allowing nothing to stop her. Guards were beginning to show up around town, formed in Legions as they were armed with weapons and magic to try and take down Luz. But she wouldn't have it.
(CASTLEVANIA - DIVINE BLOODLINES)
The guards were suddenly bombarded by silver daggers before Luz jumps, screaming as she slams the Morning Star to the ground, causing an explosion that made the guards scatter. Any one of them who recovered from the explosion didn't get the chance to retaliate as one with an axe to the mask. Luz through her spinning cross throughout the legion, cutting through necks and beheading a few of them. The Morning Star struck hard and fast, cracking masks, bones, flesh, blasting every guard away from her as she advanced.
All the while, King was sitting by, just enjoying the show with a bag of popcorn. He watched as a guard flew by, screaming in pain.
"Man, this would make a good show." And then Luz grabbed onto him, hoisting him on her shoulder as they kept on going. Punching another guard coming at her in the face, Luz simply marched on, seeing any guard that stood in her way trembling, falling to the ground and then crawling away from her as she entered the Conformatorium proper. A gate closes behind it as she turned to see Warden Wrath, seeing the scars on his arms as he removed his mask to show his hideous, all-teeth face.
"Ah, Luz Belmont. How I've waited to see you again. Now I'll have my revenge and you'll have front row seats to Eda's demise."
Luz only glared as her eyes suddenly turned a glowing yellow.
"...Hydro Storm."
A few minutes later, Kikimora came by to see if the Belmont had been apprehended. All she saw where two guards impaled with silver daggers from the ceiling, another only being seen by his legs and in a puddle of his own blood, a fourth whos hand seems to have been...burned off, and a fifth who was impaled by a pillar of ice on the ground. One guard, who was barely hanging on, crawled over to Kikimora, who was all but shocked at the sight of this massacre.
"What...happened here?"
"T-T-The Belmont...she came...more powerful than we thought...and...angry."
"Where's Wrath? I need to speak with him."
"He...challenged...next thing we knew, there was...screaming and...burning...we saw...her...Wrath is...dead."
Now that really frightened Kikimora. She looked to where the guard pointed at the motionless body of the Warden. He was face down in a growing puddle of blood. However, upon turning his body, the all the imp was a head...missing its face.
Luz was marching down one of the halls of the place before stopping at padlocked set of double doors. King, still holding onto Luz's shoulder, was trying to forget about what he just saw Luz do.
"King, watch the door." Luz said as she sets him off and then uses the morning star to break apart the padlock. Upon opening the doors, she saw Eda, kneeling in chains embedded into the platform, her head was down as she looked defeated. She didn't even seem to notice that Luz was rushing over to her.
"Eda!" Luz cried out, but got no response. "Eda. It's Luz. I'm here to save you."
Raising her Morning Star, Luz strike at the chains holding Eda in place...only to freeze at the sight of whip hitting nothing but thin air. The Eda here was all but an illusion, as the real Eda was already set in a cage on a towering platform for all the Isles to see, minutes away from being stone. But Eda did catch sight of the Giant Cross that glowed in the sky, and it gave her a spark of hope. Kikimora was there, while feeling uneasy about the loss of Wrath, knew that the sentencing had to go on as she prepared to go on. But before she pull a lever by Eda's cage, she could hear the Owl Lady...laughing...
"What is so funny, Clawthorne?" She asked. "Even you wouldn't laught at your own funeral."
"I'm laughing...at yours."
Moving back to Luz, she found herself rushing through the halls once more with King under her left arm. She couldn't reach Eda, but she could reach the source of Petrification, it was there best chance now. But before she could continue, a blast of magic came from below her feet, nearly knocking to the floor if she didn't roll and recovered. Coming out of another hall, Luz thought it to be another, but this one was different. He wore an ivory hooded cloak with a golden triangle clasp, like other members of the Emperor's Coven, but had a golden-yellow tunic with darker sleeves underneath, a dark brown belt, black leggings, dark brown gloves, and boots. He wore a golden pauldron on his left shoulder and a pointed two-faceted mask with a thin slot across it. This was the Golden Gaurd. In his hands was a staff similar to that of Belos', but at his belt was his golden heirloom sword, one that Luz caught a glimpse at, but didn't recognize at first.
"King, go ahead of me."
"But, Luz-"
"Just find the source and wait for me there."
Reluctantly, the tiny demon got off from Luz's shoulder and ran deeper into the hall.
"I cannot allow you to go any further." He said to Luz, who held a deep scowl.
"I do not have time for this! Stand down!" Luz ordered, pointing her whip towards him.
"My Emperor has ordered that you'd be brought to him, immediately." The Golden Guard then pulls out his sword, and points it towards Luz. "And I attend to deliver you, personally."
Seeing the blade herself, Luz was shocked by the sight of it, for she recognized it any well. It was the Alucard Sword, the Original with its broadsword-like blade, golden handle-guarrd and skull-shaped engraving at the end of the handle. If this guy had such a weapon...
"...Where did you get that sword?" Luz growled.
"Excuse me?"
Without warning, Luz swung her whip at the Golden Guard, who was force to block with his blade. Luz didn't not let up the attack, swinging the whip viciously around the Guard, who moved as far as he could away from the chains of the Morning Start, acrobatically flipping and spinning while countering blocking the chains with his sword. Wanting to get out of the Belmont's attack zone, he rose his staff and took to the skies. But that's what Luz wanted, gliding her free hand across the chain, making the whip swing up to where the Guard rose and struck him right to the side. Upon falling, he lost his grip on his staff as he held his side in pain. Luz swung her whip once more, only for the chains to suddenly be wrapped around the blade of the sword. She tried to pull it back, but watched as the Golden Guard got up and pulled his own sword back, making Luz lose her grip as she was forced to move forward, unsheathing Victors blade as it acted like a short sword now.
The Golden Guard took a stance as the Young Belmont came in and their blades clashed. Luz was strong and fast, even with her shorter blade, but the Guard had the advantage in distance with his own sword, forcing Luz to go on the defensive as she swung back, only to hit nothing as the Golden Guard seemed to...warped. In fact, he appeared behind her suddenly and swung his sword, pushing Luz back when she blocked. And then he warped, but this time Luz was ready, swinging her blade behind her just as he appeared. She took notice of the red glowing from behind his mask, a sign of the use of shadow magic. Their blades clashed together before the Golden Guard moved onto the offensive and swung near Luz's head, almost decapitating her if her had moved back and continued to black. She underestimated how strong he was, as the were caught in a static bind, he was able to push her back...
"...I'll ask again...where did you get that sword?" Luz growled.
The Golden Guard only replied "What does it matter to you?"
The moment, the Golden Guard ended up getting a headbutt by Luz, which in result, cracked his mask. He pushed her back with supernatural strength. Luz recovered as quickly as she could to see to the Golden Guard leap upward and slash at her. Their blades clashed one more time, colliding with each other, strike after strike until...
(SLASH)
Luz managed to get the Guard across the chest. Seeing him staggered by his wound, Luz decides to finish this.
"Not this time!" She yelled as she punches him straight in the face, shattering his mask in the process as he fell to the ground, losing his grip on his sword. Seeing the sword fall, Luz quickly took it and aimed it at his throat, getting a good look at his face, as he had a slightly hooked nose, dark magenta eyes, thick black eyebrows, a gap between his front teeth, bags under his eyes, and ash-blond hair that is shaved below the top, with a long, jagged forelock. He wasn't an eyesore to look at, Luz thought, but that glimpse of red in eyes when he warped around her, the strength, the ability to even wield this blade...he couldn't be...
"What are you waiting for?" He said to her with a glare. "Finish it!"
Both he and Luz were breathing heavily as she soon lowered the sword. "No...I'm tired of fighting you." She said. "I got somewhere to be, a friend to save..." She began to walk away from the Golden Guard, who struggled to get up as he saw her walking away with his heirloom.
"You have no right to take that sword!" He yelled! "You don't deserve it! That sword belonged to my Father!"
Luz stopped in her tracks and turned to face the Guard one more, seeing such familiar traits in his person; one of which being the cut she left his beginning to heal itself, as if it were never there. The crimson glow in eyes blinked once more into existence, and she could swear that there were fangs slowly starting to grow and peeking out of his mouth That was enough for Luz to confirm who he really was, and who his father might be as well. Without warning, she threw the blade near him, letting it clatter on the ground before stopped close to his hands. He was confused by this as he saw her expression of indifference towards him.
"Then keep it..." Luz said. "If you are who you say you are. Perhaps we'll meet again someday."
The Golden Guard wanted to continue the fight with his sword now back in his hand, but something was telling him not to, that the Belmont wasn't a threat. Either his body was giving out, or something else within him had awakened. Either way, he was forced to let the Belmont go as he watched her go into the next room.
Back on the surface of the Conformatorium, Eda was still in her cages, her eyes closed as quietly praying to herself, holding onto whatever hope she had right now. The Petrification Machine had risen, and it would only be moments before she was a statue.
"Hold it." said a Coven Member. "We have another one of her allies." And it was at that moment that Eda turned to see King being thrown into the same cage as her.
"King?! What are you doing here?!" She cried out.
"Luz had survived that fight with Lilith! She came here to try and free you. It was my idea to come along!" King explained, being a little afraid, even when Eda was in chains.
Eda merely sighed, facing the statue as its activation of the petrification machine earns both of their attentions. The machine's eyes begin to glow, first yellow, then green, but Eda was not showing fear while King was honestly pretty traumatized at the moment. The audience, Gus and Willow among them, gasp at the sight of this as this.
"We have to do something right now!" Gus said as he rushes to where his father was broadcasting.
"And it would see deranged-looking cat has joined the Owl Lady in the cage. This might just be it for the Owl Lady." Perry announced before his son got himself on air. "Augustus? I'm live!" But then Gus punches his own father in the face before taking the microphone, saying "Sorry Dad, but we have a message to make."
And that's when Willow began to speak. "People of the Boiling Isles. What's happening to Eda isn't right. She might not always follow the rules, but she hasn't done anything worthy of a petrification!"
"Yeah! She helped me escape jail!" said that one eye-eating prisoner. "She helped me stay in business!" said shopkeeper by the name of Morton.
Principal Bump even said "She's helped keep the Hexside safe! Both she and the Belmont, as a matter of fact!"
"Yes!" Willow said, as she continued. "I know you all think that 'the Belmont' is a danger to our way of life, but she has done nothing but keep Bonesborough, Hexside, the entire Isles safe from a greater threat! Allying herself with the Owl Lady has increased our chances of protection! We have to know the truth! What's happening to Eda Clawthorne is wrong! And the Emperor must let her go!"
"Yeah! Let Eda go!" Gus had started a chant that had the entire crowd going! "Let Eda go! Let Eda go! Let Eda go! Let Eda go!"
But they were all silenced by the Emperor appeared himself as he said, with a thundering voice "Enough. You must all remember you place. My way, the Will of the Titan, is the only way of life that can support you. Remember that, or find yourself in the same predicament as the Owl Lady has."
Despite how frightened the crowd had gotten, Gus, Willow, even Eda held their ground, scowling at the Corrupt Ruler as he gestures to proceed with the Petrification. The machine was fully powered on, and looked ready to blast Eda with it's green energy. Eda closed her eyes and accepted her fate while King hid behind her. But before the machine could fire, the heavenly blue light appeared to coming from directly below its perch, causing cracks to form around as the entire Isles once again heard...
"HOLY CRRROOOOOOSSSSS!"
And just like that, the statue was destroyed, completely incinerated and in it's place, a flaming blue cross that towered over the crowd.
"Luz..." Eda whispered, knowing that her prayers had been answered.
As the Cross dissipated, Belos looked down to where the only known source of Petrification in the Boiling Isles, a giant hole in its place, and within it, the being he was 'destined' to meet, waiting for him. Without a word, he jumped from where he stood and into the hole. And just as he thought, within the statue's epicenter was the Belmont herself.
"Luz Noceda Belmont...it is truly an honor to meet you." He spoke in the most humble of tones.
In a stoic voice, Luz replied "I came for my friends." while pulling at her whip's chain. "And quite possibly, your life."
Belos merely shook his head as then, he said "Miss Belmont...we need not meet as enemies. We share a common interest, you and I."
"We have nothing in common!" Luz growled.
"We both mean to save the world of mortals from the Unholy Scourge that threatens it."
Keeping her guard up, Luz then asked "Why would you care about saving mankind?"
"Because child..." And suddenly, the Emperor moved his hand to his mask, slowly removing it to reveal his hideously formed face, showing a large, basil-green scar running across it, and down his neck with holes from an aged injury. Not only that, but his ears, while cut to look that of a witch, were very human by nature. "I was once part of it."
This was a surprise, another human magic-user in the Boiling Isles, far more older than Luz. So many questions ran through Luz's mind, but she needed to stay focus as she heard Belos ramble on.
"My true name is Wittebane, Phillip Wittebane. When I first arrived here, I has been shocked by the discover of magic, sorcery, all things that go against God's named. At first, it seemed intriguing, only until I had everything I cared about...taken from me. Then I became of the savagery from which the realm seem to thrive in. My hatred for this place and its...people only grew in time. I had been forced to pick through every hole, every deposit of this forsaken corpse. Forced to give birth identity as I brought prosperity, structure...order. All so that I can have every piece fall into place. But I was missing the few pieces that I know would finally cleanse these lands. I had already found one piece, but the other was still out of reach. The moment I would've been this close to getting it...you came and your Legacy..."
More and more questioned spun in Luz's head as continued to let the Old Man talk.
"The stories of the Great Belmonts who vanquished evil, from the Living Dead, to the Mindless Ones. Such Legends inspired me to do the same, and show that even in our kind, there lies such an evil. The Corruption of Mankind itself is unforgivable." Belos explained with a smile on his face. "You should know very well about this, how even the Founders of the Brotherhood of Light had gave birth to the Lords of Shadow by becoming Heavenly Beings. And it was your very ancestor who had to diminish their existence. He sacrificed everything, accepted his fate, and still saved that world. That is what I wish for, and together we can accomplish that."
Now Luz was simply seeing Belos as a fool to believe in such a cause. If he was ever at all a mortal being, he certainly wasn't 'human' anymore.
"I beg of you to join me, Luz." He continued on. "Together, we can save our world from that threat that this one establishes. We can return home and rectify the problems that our world have put upon itself. You see how the world is, full of fiendish acolytes, the spawns of hell itself. We can purge the world of corruption and bring purity."
"...I can never be a part of that." Luz said. "You are insane. A low, selfish, brainless coward, and if you were ever at all human, that time is long gone. You look upon this world and see it with nothing but disgust, not realizing that it worth so much more. They can still live, free of the corruption of which you speak if given a chance."
Belos merely scoffs as he says "Surely, you jest. These vermin are undeserving of redemption. It is MY Devine Right as God's chosen within this realm to see to their judgement and sentencing."
"You would rather pillage and exterminate than offer forgiveness and love?" Luz then points at him accusingly. "This is why you were cast out, Unholy one."
And with Belos' face dropped to a glare as he point his staff at Luz.
"You dare to challenge me? You will pay for your blasphemy. Your soul belongs to me!"
Taking her whip, Luz swung it as the Madman, only for him to seemingly melt down and appear from behind her. He lifts a finger is about flick it, only to be blinded be piercing light when Luz turned the cross-shaped handle of the Morning Star towards him. Both of them looked to have been blown away from each other as they land against statues across the room. A crack travels up the statue above the young Belmont, until it frees a giant two-headed axe, which Luz miraculously catches with both hands. A smirk appears on her face as then throws the axe straight towards Belos, who swiftly dashes away from it.
"You are a fool to decline my offer." He says as he raises his hand and spikes rise up the ground. Luz quickly leaps over them and suddenly take Owlbert of nowhere, mounting and head straight for Belos. The Emperor stands immobile as a monster appears around him. Before it could devour Luz, however, she uses her Light Magic to summon her Bo staff and cut through the creature's under belly before swinging the weapon towards Belos, only to hit nothing but air as the Old Man retreats to the shadows.
"You will help destroy them, Luz." his voice echoed. "Or you will perish."
Luz said nothing as she put Owlbert away, and the shadow of Belos passes by, Luz quickly turns to strike him. But then, arms of flesh attempts to hold her weapon down only for her to crack her whip and make then retreat. She spins around, chain whip igniting across the room, forcing any disembodied arm to vanish.
"Perhaps I was wrong about you, Young Belmont." Belos said as he arrived from the shadows. "The Boiling Isles are a cesspit of hatred and lies..."
"Fight for it then..." Luz whispered, hearing those exact words before.
"And dies for it sins!" Raising his staff, the orb on it glowed until it conjured a scythe-like blade from its crimson energy. Luz charged at him, and he dashed as their two weapons met and once again pushed them back in such a blast. Standing on opposite sides, both of them looked at each other with Belos' eyes glowing blue.
"Now we got us a fight!" Belos roared as he brought what looked to be a scroll and unraveled it to reveal a glyph. Luz had seen them before; they appear to be part of the magic of the Isles, drawn from spell circles. And if Belos was using this instead of drawing one from his own, then it would seem that magic power did not course through your veins. But for her, it did as she quickly dodged a stream of fire coming out of the scroll before it burned up. She went towards him and swung her Morning Star from left to right, hoping to land a hit on the Emperor, but his deflected every strike with his staff, moving back before swinging at Luz in a counter attack.
"Didn't the Owl Lady teach you anything?" He mocked her before pulling out another scroll and set on the ground, which Luz accidentally stepped on. Vines suddenly came out from the scroll and wrapped around Luz, leaving her open for Belos to attack as he was about thrust the staff at her as if it were a spear. Luz quickly unleashed her shadow magic, letting burn around her as the vines welted at allowed to break away before Belos could land a hit.
The madman chuckles as he says "I like your spirit, Luz. So I'll give you another chance. Surrender yourself and I will show you mercy."
"Don't you ever SHUT UP?!" Luz screamed as she threw a flash of holy water to the ground near Belos. He was forced to move at the sight of the Blessed flames, but it was his mistake as Luz was given the chance to strike. Without mercy, she swung her whip and struck him ten times, giving him more pain than he ever felt before. She even managed to leave a huge crack in his mask. Belos was forced away from her as he was left dazed, barely supporting himself on his staff and on his own feet.
"Impossible!" He gasped. "Is that...the Power of God?!" Out of desperation, he summoned a vast of tendrils and arms to try and keep Luz away from him. But she the brought the Holy Book and allowed its pages to fly around her, creating a shield and burned away anything that dared to harm her. She then leaps towards Belos and tackles him before unlocking another ancient relic used by one her ancestors, the Seraph Shoulder Pauldrons. Ghastly Wings appeared from her back and with them, she grabbed hold of Belos and flew out of the hole they were in. Returning the surface, their fight now captured the attention of everyone present at the moment. Eda, King, Willow and Gus were the ones who were most happy to see their friend alive and working over Belos, by the looks of it.
"Luz..." Eda whispered happily.
"She's alive!" Willow exclaimed, with Gus going "Yeah!"
"Kick his butt, Luz!" King screamed.
With the fight taken to the skies, Belos had lost his grip on his staff and was forced to use his fist to fight back. But even in hand to hand combat, Luz seemed to fight better than he could, landing several powerful hits before grabbing his desperate fist and sending back down. But before he could hit the ground, Luz below him so that she could punch him once more, keeping him in the air as she flew above him once more. Belos summoned his own pair of Vulture wings, allowing him to fly as Luz did as the two then charged at each other. Once again, did Luz catch his fist before bashing his face and throwing him higher up so that she continue to do so. Belos did managed to get a hit on Luz, but she was fast, more agile and seemed to have been blessed with strength. For as they started to descend and Belos seemed to gain the upper hand, Luz had suddenly swing her legs, getting two kicks that send him down to the ground.
Rising from a Belos-shaped crater, the enraged Emperor reached for his staff as it telepathically flew back into his hands. Luz landed across from him, determined as ever to finish this fight, seeing the insane look in Belos' eyes before slowly levitated off the ground, his staff glowing violently in its crimson energy.
"DIE, BELMONT!" He roared before sending elemental magic from his staff across the ground. Glyphs of fire, ice and plant magic littered the ground, forcing Luz to avoid them. She continued to advance upon him, striking hard and fast while desperately used his staff to deflect her moves. All while their battle continues, the Isles watch in silence, entranced by the power of their Emperor and the Belmont. Luz was forced to shift between Light and Dark Magic to compensate the Fire and Ice Magic that surrounded the platform as she rushed to strike Belos once more. Before she could do so, she him raise his staff and slam it to the ground, causing the platform to quake and rise violently. Luz quickly used her Seraph Shoulder to boost herself into the air before the quake could reach, then she turned her attention towards Belos.
"I will wipe the name of Belmont from this world forever!" the Emperor screamed as he felt the Morning Star clash with his staff. He swung his staff before bringing out a fire glyph and sending it towards Luz, making her back off before she could burst into flames. "Damn you, Noceda!" He then jumps and then plummets with his staff pointing towards Luz, nearly impaling her as she managed to dodge. "You think you can defeat me!?" Luz did not respond one, completely determined to finish this fight. Seeing Belos summon ghostly apparitions of Grim Reapers from both Fire and Ice glyphs, she was forced to continue switching between Light and Shadow Magic to defeat them. But it was only a distraction as suddenly, fiery stones had begun to rain down onto the arena, all while Belos took the offensive and viciously attacked Luz. The Young Belmont had enough of this as she was exhausted and tired of all this fighting, so she decided to bring one more ancient relic of her family's past to end this fight, the Dark Gauntlet. Just as Belos got close, she unleashed the armored weapon and sent a fist of Shadow Magic right towards his face, shattering his mask in the process.
"NO! ...Stay back from me!" Belos gasped as he covered his face, desperately using Fire and Ice Gylphs to litter the platform, acting as a shield to keep him from the Belmont's reach. But Luz was undeterred but such a futile attempt, getting pass the glyphs with her own Light and Shadow before confronting the Old Man one last time. The two of them took a stance with Belos raising his staff once more, and with all the anger and rage boiling up inside him, viciously managed to cut Luz in her abdomen as she was about to attack him. Then right after that, he sends the tip of his staff right through her stomach as it's end came out through her back...
"LUUUUZZZ!" She could hear her friends yell as she looked back to see Willow and Gus's faces of fear and Eda struggling against her bonds more and more. But Luz wasn't dead yet, as she then grabbed hold of Belos' hand and managed to flip him over her by the grip of his staff, once more forming a crater in the ground. Then, she broke apart the staff with her bare hands before pulling the sharp out of herself. Then, she grabs hold of Belos just as the weakened Emperor climbed out of the crater. She forces him to his knees before grabbing him in a headlock, which he struggles to get out of.
"Take your hands off me, monster!" He wheezed. "Your soul be damned!"
And that's when Luz did something unexpected...she prayed.
"Christ lives, Christ reigns. Christ will defeat all evil from you. Curse and Excommunicate all hidden demons. In virtue of the deeds in His name."
"He's not listening, Noceda." Belos nearly choked on an attempt to laugh. "Your family's fate is fixed."
"Everyone has the power to repent! I believe in that!" Luz said before raising her head to the skies. "Forgive me...forgive me, my God."
Even as he was struggling to gasp for air, Belos couldn't help but attempt the get the last laugh.
"I will see justice done against this realm that has wronged me...you cannot expel me, Luz. For all of my work in his name!"
"Your work makes him puke! And your soul will be sent to hell...once I am finished with you...my Emperor!"
And that is when she looked up to the sky one more and opened her mouth. A beam of Holy Energy shot out as the entire area around the Conformatorium was engulfed in the Heavenly Glow. It was intense as it felt like typhoon, with the wind spinning around fast and strongly, and the people all around covered their faces, not only from the wind, but from the great light that shined at where Luz and Belos stood. From what Eda saw, Angelic Wings looked to have appeared at Luz's back as the mask fell from Belos' face as they were both struck with Holy Light. And then it was over, the light was gone and Luz released Belos from his grasp as the defeated fell unceremoniously to the ground on his face. Luz breathed heavily, exhausted from all this fighting as she turns and slowly walks over to the cage. Kikimora, while wanting the chance to fight back against the Belmont, was scarred beyond the compacity to do so, as even thought she looked tired, Luz towered over her in a way that made her shrink in on herself.
"Free them. Now." Luz growled.
Doing as she was told, Kikimora traces a spell circle that makes the cage and Eda's bonds disappear. The Owl Lady and King walk over to Luz, who looked to ready to pass out.
"Are you guys...okay?" And that was the last thing Luz said before she collapsed. Eda caught her before she hit the ground, picking her up and cradling her as a mother would a child.
"You saved us, Luz." Eda whimpered, fighting back tears at the sight of her pupil. The power that she showed was way too much for a child, let alone a blessed one. Eda couldn't believe that Luz would risk her life in such a way...just to save those who weren't in the light of God anyway. Unfortunately, their moment was ruined by the sight of Coven Guard who were brandishing spears at the trio. Rage began to refill Eda as she took Owlbert out, looking ready to protect Luz from any would harm her.
"Let them go."
All heads turned to Kikimora, who was still looking as shaken as before from the Belmont's unbelievable display of power.
"Our Emperor needs assistance! Go help him now!" She ordered the guards, who hesitantly followed as they went to go check on Belos, who still motionless on the floor. Eda used this chance to escape, as she mounted Owlbert and took flight. As they left, the crowd was still silent from all they had seen, Gus and Willow decided to head out of there and head straight to the Owl House. And all while this had happen, a certain Necromancer had seen everything, his face as stoic as ever as they watch the Coven Members carry Belos away.
"The Belmont is as strong as her Ancestors." said Zobek. "But it matters not. The time of revelations will come soon enough, all will play their part and both world and the realm of mortals will return...to the Darkness."
Moments later, the Trio had returned the House. Eda was still carrying Luz in her arms as they walked over to the house.
"Eda? Is Luz gonna be okay?" King asked, scarred for the life of his friend.
"I don't know, King." Eda sighed. "I knew she was bound to be strong, but...never like this. I had no idea how much she grew during this time."
"Miss Eda!" Their heads turned to see Gus and Willow coming out of the woods and rushing towards them. They were shocked at the sight of their unconscious friend, who Eda kept close in her arms.
"Oh my gosh. Luz..." Willow said sadly, as she and Gus went over to her.
"You can heal her, right? She has to be okay!" Gus exclaimed.
"The least we can do now is wait until Luz recovers!" Eda said. "For the time being...perhaps its best if Luz goes home."
"Back to the human world?" Willow asked, afraid of losing her friend.
"I know it'll bite me in the ass if I leave her alone, so I'll go with her. I have a feeling her mother won't be happy to see her daughter this way."
"You guys can relax!" King said in his usual tone. "From what we've all seen, Luz is the toughest, and now considerably the most powerful person on the Isles. Even more than me! I have faith she'll be fine..."
"So do I, King." Eda replied. "But this is a lot for her to take in. Just give her time, and she will be fine..."
And with that, they head back inside the house. But this was only the beginning of the Great Tribulations that they will go through together. For not only are the Emperor's Coven looking to plot their revenge against the Belmont as soon as possible while also looking over the recovery of their Emperor, but other Dark Forces are looking to much bigger attentions, with Zobek putting a familiar looking corpse with blue hair into a Sarcophagus while pouring a flask of Dark Blood into her mouth. Everyone must prepare themselves, because at this point forward...They. Were. At. War.
And that's the end of Season 1. Don't know if I'll make Season 2 a Separate Story, but we'll see how that goes. Also, do note that I did not have Luz sacrifice the Portal this time around, because there was no need to do it. She's freaking OP now...you know, until she passed out. Season 2 is gonna be so ridiculously complicated to right, but I will get to it in time. Bet on it. Until then, keep an eye out for other stories.
