"Well, it's time..." Izuku sighed as he finished putting on his school uniform, looking at himself in the mirror and smiling proudly. "I can't believe I'm finally going to UA."
"Hey, Izu~!" Himiko giggled, also dressed in her own UA Uniform as she came in. "Are you ready to go?"
Izuku smiled. "You bet, Himi!"
As Izuku and Himiko left, they gave their parents, Tatsumaki, and Fubuki a quick hug and best wishes.
"Knock 'em dead, kids." Hisashi smiled.
"Say Hi to Eve if you can. Pretty sure she's a Third-Year now." Tatsumaki chuckled.
"Oh, my babies are gonna be Heroes!" Inko sobbed, waterfalls of tears gushing out of her eyes.
"Mooooooooooom~!"
After taking the bus, Izuku and Himiko managed to meet up with Haruko, Chie, Akito, and Kurai before arriving at UA High. All of them had managed to get into Class 1-A, one of the two Hero Classes.
When the six friends finally got to the class, they looked up at the massive sliding door with a '1-A' written in big red letters.
"Man, that is a huge door," Haruko noted.
"Probably to let someone of All-Might's size in," Chie figured.
"Well, we're not gonna become Heroes just standing here!" Akito chirped as she swung open the door...
"GET YOUR FEET OFF THE DESK IMMEDIATELY! IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL AND YOU'RE ALREADY DISRESPECTING IT BY SCUFFING SCHOOL PROPERTY!"
"WHY DON'T YOU SUCK MY DICK, YOU FOUR-EYED TWAT?!"
...And promptly slammed the door shut, looking freaked out with her eyes wide and panicked.
"Bakugou and that mean kid with the glasses are here!"
"Unsurprising," Kurai said calmly. "Katsuki Bakugou managed to place in the Top 10 of the Entrance Exam along with us."
"Oh, hey! I know you guys!"
The six turned to see the rosy-cheeked brunette girl from the Entrance Exam coming in, a big smile on her face.
"Oh, it's that nice girl." Izuku smiled. "I see you managed to make it into UA too?"
"Yeah! So cool that we're all in the same class!" The girl then perked up. "Oh! Sorry, I never introduced myself; I'm Ochako Uraraka!"
"Well, at least ONE friendly face is with us today." Himiko giggled as the seven made their way into the classroom together.
Katsuki and the glasses kid had stopped arguing with each other, the latter recognizing Izuku and turning to him before bowing stiffly.
"You there! I'd like to formally apologize for how I treated you back at the Entrance Exam! I'm Tenya Iida and I hope we can find common ground here as fellow students!"
"U-Um, it's cool, no harm done..." Izuku awkwardly said.
Katsuki looked annoyed at Izuku and his friends but his eyes were especially narrowed on Haruko. He didn't know how she got in when she was supposed to be Quirkless but he didn't care, he'd show her that Deku didn't need her holding him back...
"It seems all the students are here on time," Kurai noted as she took inventory. "Total of 24 students and our teacher is right over there."
"Should have known Dr. Vegapunk's big creation would find me..."
Everyone turned to where Kurai was pointing and the tired-sounding voice to see a giant yellow caterpillar...which was actually a sleeping bag covering a scruffy-looking man with unkempt black hair.
"My name's Shota Aizawa and I'll be your homeroom teacher. Don't go thinking this is just someplace to make friends, this is the Hero Course."
The man took a sip from a juice pouch before throwing out a bundle of freshly pressed UA PE Uniforms.
"Put on those gym clothes and meet me at the training field."
"A Quirk Evaluation Test? Isn't that kind of soon? What about orientation?" Ochako asked curiously as everyone gathered at the training field.
"UA doesn't follow normal course curriculum. Despite students here being given a lot of freedoms, that extends to the teachers as well. Also, the orientation is just a big fat waste of time in my opinion."
"Sheesh, he looks like he needs a coffee...or 25 hours of sleep," Chie whispered to Haruko, who nodded.
If Aizawa heard her, he ignored it as he continued. "Right now, we'll be doing eight tests that normal schools use for physical education but this time, we're having you use your Quirks to see if you have the right amount of control and creativity to use them."
With those words, the teacher tossed Izuku a softball that he noticed had a black band around it, obviously a type of device used for recording distance.
"Midoriya, you scored 1st in the Entrance Exam. What was the farthest you could throw a ball back in Junior High?"
"Um...I-I think it was 80 meters, Sensei."
"Try using your Quirk this time. Anything is possible as long as you stay in the pitching circle."
Izuku nodded as he stepped into the circle and pondered on what Devil Fruit he should use before smiling and snapping his fingers as he took off his red shoes, tied the laces together, and spun them around in one hand like a sling hammer.
"Uh, Sensei, what's he doing?" Asked a boy with yellow blonde hair that had a black lightning bolt fringe in it.
Izuku harnessed the power of the [More-More Fruit], causing his spinning to become faster as he threw the ball in the air and then used his shoes as a makeshift hammer to smack the ball, adding more force to send it flying into the distance at breakneck speeds, cutting through the clouds in the process.
"Whoa! How'd he do that?!" Exclaimed a boy with spikey red hair and shark-like teeth.
"I used one of my Devil Fruits that are part of my Quirk," Izuku explained as he put his shoes back on while Aizawa checked the score on a PDA and showed it to everyone.
"752.8 meters! Damn!" A boy with straight black hair, straight rectangular teeth, and tape dispenser-shaped elbows exclaimed.
"We can use our Quirks as much as we want?! This is gonna be so fun!" A pink-skinned girl with fluffy light pink hair, black eyes with amber irises, and a pair of rubbery horns said with excitement.
Aizawa's eye twitched. "Fun? You think this is a game, Ashido?"
The pink-skinned girl shrunk back as the teacher glared at her, his eyes glowing red. If looks could kill, she'd be six feet under and cremated at the same time.
"Being a Hero isn't about having fun, Ashido. How many likes you get on your newest post and the number of followers you have doesn't matter when you are staring a Villain dead in the face. And if you think you can be a Hero and get by with your charms and good looks, then you are certainly not meant to be here."
Mina backed away. "I-I'm sorry, Sensei..."
"You're sorry?" Aizawa spat the word like it was poison. "Tell that to the man whose wife you failed to save because you were too busy making sure you looked perfect for the cameras. Tell that to a child who has to grow up without a parent because you were too busy with your ego. Tell me, Ashido, are you prepared to have that conversation?"
The pink-skinned girl known as Mina Ashido couldn't answer, her sobs the only response she could muster.
*VRRRRRRRRRM*
"THAT'S ENOUGH!" Izuku snapped, waves of red force emitting from it and making everyone back up a few steps as he approached Aizawa. "Who the HELL gives you the right to judge someone for having optimism?! I know more than anybody that Heroics involves a lot of ugly work but that doesn't mean you have to crush people's hopes like that! Aren't teachers supposed to nurture the next generation and make sure they're properly prepared instead of just throwing them into the fire like that?!"
Aizawa himself seemed taken aback by the pure RAGE in Izuku's voice. The boy with spikey red hair, Eijirou Kirishima, was comforting Mina as she wept into his chest as Izuku stared his teacher down.
"Trust me, I've had my fair share of experience with teachers who abuse their authority back at my old middle school. Are YOU one of those teachers too? If that's the case, then there's NOTHING you can teach any of us."
"Is Izu using...?" Himiko whispered to Haruko, who nodded, remembering the training with Rayleigh.
"Yeah, he's using [Conqueror's Haki]..."
Izuku and Aizawa continued to stare each other down before the teacher relented with a sigh.
"Alright, Midoriya, you've made your point. I apologize, Ashido..."
"Such a fierce protective spirit..." A boy with the head of a raven named Fumikage Tokoyami noted. "I feel like it's beneficial we have Midoriya as a classmate."
"Oui. And that mademoiselle I met at the Entrance Exam is a welcome one as well." Yuuga Aoyama, the Franco-Japanese boy Haruko met at the exams noted.
"Alright, with that drama out of the way, let's get these tests over with." Aizawa sighed, looking more tired than ever.
*Test 1: 50-Meter Dash*
Tenya got in a runner's crouch next to Kurai. The bespectacled young man had organic engines in his calves which gave him super-speed, which was shown when he crossed the track in 3.04 seconds.
"I can only go up to third gear with this much distance available."
Kurai's heels opened up, revealing jet thrusters that boosted her across the track as she ran. She stopped perfectly at the end and stood straight as her score was recorded as 3.01 seconds.
"Impressive, Irogane. I heard that Dr. Vegapunk did an exceptional job in creating you!"
Kurai nodded. "Father wanted me to be the best version of myself."
Chie was next as she stood beside Tsuyu Asui, a girl with long dark green hair and a frog-like face. On the word 'Go', Chie suddenly blinked out of existence before reappearing on the other end of the track as Tsuyu hoped across like, well, a frog.
"Chie Kariru: 0.01 seconds! Tsuyu Asui: 5.58 seconds!"
"Does Chi-Chan also have the power to copy the Quirks she boosts/edits?" Himiko asked Izuku, who shrugged as the former went up next with Ochako, who began touching all of her clothes and her shoes.
Himiko turned into Hisashi and flew across the track like a rocket as Ochako ran across like normal, but her clothes had been lightened by removing their gravity.
"Himiko Midoriya: 1.75 seconds! Ochako Uraraka: 7.15 seconds!"
"Well, at least it's a few seconds shaved off my old middle school record..." Ochako sighed, wiping some sweat from her brow as Himiko turned back to normal.
"Uh, is nobody gonna comment on how Himiko just turned into frickin' OMNI-MAN?!" Called out the boy with the lightning bolt fringe, Denki Kaminari.
"It's part of her Quirk," Izuku explained. "She can copy the appearance, powers, and physical attributes of anybody she's drunken blood of. The duration of how long she can remain at a time depends on the amount of blood she's taken."
"Dang, that's gnarly." Said a boy with spikey dark brown hair and big lips named Rikidou Sato.
"Oh please, like THAT'S the grossest Quirk in the world." Akito scoffed as she got onto the track with Yuuga, who turned away from the track. "What are you doing, Aoyama?"
"It's like Aizawa-Sensei said; we need to show we have the right creativity!"
Yuuga jumped into the air before firing his stomach laser, propelling himself across the track before stopping mid-way, taking a breather, then jumping again and firing once more, fully crossing the track.
"Using my beautiful laser for more than a second hurts my poor tummy," Yuuga explained the drawback of his Quirk from the other side.
"Now THAT'S a weird power...but it's cool!" Akito giggled as she rolled through hand signs. "EARTH ELEMENT: DIG!"
Burrowing into the ground like a mole, Akito moved under the track before jumping out beside Yuuga and landing in an elegant crouch.
"Yuuga Aoyama: 5.51 seconds! Akito Saraka: 3.64 seconds!"
Izuku went up next with Katsuki, both boys looking at each other neutrally before moving along the track. Katsuki launched himself with his explosions while Izuku used the [Kilo-Kilo Fruit] to cut down on his weight, running faster than normal as both boys crossed.
"Izuku Midoriya: 3.96 seconds! Katsuki Bakugou: 4.13 seconds!"
Katsuki clicked his tongue in annoyance as Izuku nodded, accepting his score as Haruko went next beside Mina.
"Let's show 'em what we got, girlfriend!" Haruko smiled at the pink-skinned girl, who brightened up significantly as she slid ahead on acid that came out of her feet.
Haruko quickly followed in pursuit, the energy of OFA flowing through her as she pushed her body to the peak of human strength. Katsuki noticed the sparks of green lightning flickering off the tanned girl but brushed it off as his eyes just playing tricks on him.
"Haruko Arashi: 4.20 seconds! Mina Ashido: 5.31 seconds!"
*Test 2: Grip Strength*
"Whoa!" A short dwarfish boy with grapes for hair named Minoru Mineta exclaimed as he and the boy with tape dispenser elbows, Hanta Sero, gazed in awe at the score gained by Mezo Shouji, a tall boy with a mask covering his mouth and nose and big strong arms with tentacle-like extensions connected to them.
"Damn, you gotta be some kind of gorilla or something!" Sero said, noting Shouji's score of 540kg.
*CRUNCH*
"Uh..." Izuku nervously stuttered, looking at the crushed gripping device in his hands. "I-I broke it, sorry..."
"But it seems Midoriya has lots of hidden strength in his gentle frame," Shouji noted himself, Sero and Minoru nodding in agreement.
Himiko had turned into Izuku and copied what he did, destroying her own gripping device and giggling rather unashamedly at what she did. Kurai squeezed her own device hard enough with her android strength, almost making it spark and overload before stopping, looking at her score to see 999.99kg
"Very impressive." Noted a girl with black hair in a spikey ponytail named Momo Yaoyorozu, who had somehow created an industrial clamp from her body to get the same score as Kurai. "Dr. Vegapunk really DID think of everything."
Chie's arm was sparking with some kind of nuclear energy, increasing her strength as her device creaked and groaned before bending in two. Akito covered her arm in a gauntlet of stone to squeeze her device with and Haruko channeled enough OFA through her body to get 560kg.
"You kids are lucky we got more of these on standby..." Aizawa sighed.
*Test 3: Standing Long Jump*
Katsuki and Yuuga used the same tricks they used for the 50-Meter Dash to get across. Chie jumped forward and then suddenly jumped off some kind of invisible platform to fully clear the sandbox.
The bottom of Kurai's feet emitted rocket thrusters that she used to boost across while Akito rolled through hand signs and finished with a finger to her forehead as a bridge of sand formed, which she used to walk across casually.
"SKY WALK!" Haruko exclaimed as she kicked off the air with OFA, doing a front flip and landing perfectly on her feet.
Himiko turned into Hisashi again and did the T-Pose, floating across the sandbox without care. More than one of the students recorded it on their phones.
Izuku finished off the roundabout by using the [Spring-Spring Fruit] to bounce across. Unfortunately, he miscalculated how much power he put into his jump and went screaming over the horizon.
"He cleared the fence, sir," Momo said to Aizawa having created a pair of binoculars to see where Izuku was going.
"Alright, guess we need to wait for him..."
*Test 4: Repeated Side Steps*
Minoru showed the most creativity on this test, bouncing back and forth between piles of his grape-shaped hairballs, which seemed to have a trampoline-like effect.
Izuku used the [Paw-Paw Fruit], holding his hands out on either side of him and firing repulsion force bursts to push him back and forth. Himiko turned into Hisashi (again) and moved back and forth so fast, she created afterimages.
Akito seemed to teleport from side to side, giggling all the while. Everyone else did the test relatively normally, even Haruko, Chie, and Kurai didn't have much in the ways of showing off.
*Test 5: Ball Throw*
The tests returned to the Ball Throw. Since Izuku already did it as a demonstration, he was exempt from doing it.
Ochako managed to surprise everyone by throwing her ball and watching as it floated off into the horizon before blinking away. Aizawa simply looked at his PDA before showing it to the students.
"NO WAY, INFINITY?!" Chie gawked. "Girlfriend, I like you more and more!"
Momo created a cannon to shoot her ball, earning her 1000 meters. Akito took out a talisman with the Kanji for 'Teleportation' on it and threw it forward, causing it to transform into a portal she threw her ball into.
"Where did you send it, Saraka-Chan?" Mina asked.
"Space."
Aizawa confirmed what the Shrine Maiden girl said as she showed the second Infinity score on his PDA.
Kurai flipped her arm open by the elbow, dropping her ball into the chute and then aiming upward before firing, getting a score of 827.1 meters. Chie smirked as she began spinning, her speed increasing with each spin as electricity sparked off of her, her eyes and horns blazing brightly before she let go and threw her ball.
"730 meters. Not bad."
Himiko decided to do something a little different this time and turned into Tatsumaki, surprising everyone at her turning into yet another famous Pro Hero as she telekinetically lifted the ball before sending it flying forward until she couldn't hold onto it anymore.
"How does Tatsu-Nee do it?" Himiko sighed as she turned back to normal and looked to see her score was 1538.2 meters.
Soon, it was Haruko's turn as she took a deep breath and reared her arm back, closing her eyes as OFA flowed through her. When she found the striking point, she let out a yell and threw the ball, not noticing her arm being coated in [Armament Haki] for a brief second as she did so.
A sonic boom echoed from the force of her throw, the ball punching through the clouds and vanishing into the horizon as everyone gawked in awe. Aizawa showed the score to be 755 meters.
"Awesome! Way to go, Arashi!" Denki cheered.
However, Katsuki was staring in disbelief. He had thought his mind was messing with him but now he could not deny it any longer; Haruko Arashi, the girl he thought to be a Quirkless weakling...had somehow used a Quirk.
"YOU BITCH! TELL ME WHERE YOU GOT THAT FUCKING QUIRK!"
Haruko yelped and got on guard when she saw Katsuki barreling toward her. However, she didn't have to worry as Aizawa wrapped his scarf around the explosive blonde, restraining him tightly.
"Assaulting other students is grounds for expulsion, you know," Aizawa warned, his eyes glowing red and his hair floating upward. "Don't make me use my Quirk, it gives me dry eye, dammit!"
"Wait, dry eye...THAT'S IT!" Izuku gasped. "You're the Erasure Hero: Eraserhead! Ranked #1 in the Underground Pro Hero charts!"
"Surprised you actually know me, kid," Aizawa noted. "We Underground Pros like to keep to the shadows. The media is just a big waste of time."
After all the tests were done, Aizawa showed everyone their score placements.
"You all did a passable job. Head on back to the classroom, your school curriculums are on your desks."
With that, the Erasure Hero walked off as the students headed back to the classroom.
As Aizawa was walking off, he stopped when he noticed All-Might spying on him from the distance.
"It's not like you to be so light-hearted. I remember last year you caught flak from parents for expelling an entire class of students."
"They were all a bunch of spoiled stuck-up brats who thought they could coast by with their Quirks. Besides, I brought a few of them back when I saw they changed their ways afterward. This class is different...well, besides that Bakugou kid and Endeavor's son, but I'm keeping my eye on them."
All-Might hummed and nodded. "It seems you're still kind in the end. Even if you don't show it normally."
Next Time: It's time for Izuku and his friends to have their first lesson in Heroics!
