Shweir drabble…why she goes to him for comfort.

.A.B.C.

She goes to him for comfort because he loves her, although she doesn't realize it yet. For comfort, to confide—she feels safe in the circle of his arms, in the knowledge he can always—effortlessly, it seems—make her whole. She doesn't realize how shattered he is, how constantly defensive he remains, how he tells jokes because he doesn't want anyone to look too close. How he doesn't want to be hurt again. He loves her, but keeps his defenses up, rarely letting her in, opening himself up to pain because he loves her enough for it to hurt when she's unhappy. He leaves her with a joke and a half-bitter smile, and she frowns as she feels him push her away once more. She goes to him because he loves her. She'll realize it eventually.
