Chapter 11

Daphne Returns

Holly stepped a few inches forward and used her powers to fix the festival before putting the remains of the two witches into the nearby quarry. With the witches dead, the potion and dragon disappeared.

"Elvina, could you come here, please." the sorceress requested. Elvina walked up to her. "For your bravery and help, I will not only turn you human, but I want you to be my apprentice."

"You mean it?" she asked in excitement. Holly nodded. "Oh, thank you, Holly. But is it ok if I do one last spell as a witch?"

"Oh, course."

"Daphne could come here please."

Daphne stepped forward. Then Elvina cast a reverse spell onto her. The gang watched in looked in amazement as the magic took effect.

Daphne saw her fingers shrink back to their normal length and her nails become soft and small. Her hair softened to her normal appearance as did her nose, chin, and eyebrows. Her skin also lightened to its natural color as she lost her powers. The outfit disappeared and was replaced by her chic violet clothing.

Once the spell was complete, Velma walked up to her friend to speak, but before could get a word out Daphne gave her an apologetic hug.

"I'm so sorry," she cried in the tight embrace. "I didn't mean to do you any harm, I was just so angry and-"

"It's not entirely your fault. We should have known we were going too far," Velma apologetically stated. "And I'm sorry for snapping at you earlier."

"Can we be friends again?" she nervously asked.

"Of course, we can," Velma agreed as returned the hug to which Shaggy and Scooby joined in with the latter lovingly licking her face.

"Welcome back Daph," Shaggy said.

"Rhanks for rundoing our rurse," Scooby added.

Once they finished, Daphne nervously approached Fred.

"Sorry about the kidnapping," she said rubbing her upper arm.

"Oh, that's ok," he said.

"Can we-" but before she could finish her sentence, Fred pulled her in for a searing kiss. In shock, Daphne before returning the passion.

Once he pulled away, he looked at her with a relieved and stoic smile. "I'm glad to have you back Daphne."

"I'm glad to be back Freddy," she chuckled with teary eyes.

Elvina smiled before turning back to Holly so she could start her new human life. Her mentor cast a spell that soon worked to transform Elvina.

"Oh, thank you, Holly," the new apprentice said.

"You're very welcome."

By eleven o'clock, the gang was at the motel in their respective rooms with Shaggy and Scooby gorging on dinner, Velma and Tim watching the news about the witches' defeat, while Fred and Daphne sat on their bed.

"I'm really sorry I made you go through all of that tonight," Daphne said.

"It's ok, I get it, you were frustrated," he tried to reassure her as put his hand on her shoulder.

Daphne gave a sly smile. She leaned in closer until their noses met. "One thing I did like about being a witch, I got in touch with my wicked side," she whispered in an amorous voice.

"Do you think you could give a demonstration of that now?"

Daphne smirked and flexed her eyebrows, then slowly they locked lips and closed their eyes, as he pulled up the covers while she turned off the lights.

The next day the gang went to the airport and bid their new friends and relatives goodbye.

"So, will I see you next year?" Tim asked.

"Well, I was hoping to see you sooner," Velma flirted before they kissed goodbye.

"Have a safe trip home, Norville," Casey said.

"Like, will do, Uncle Casey," his nephew replied.

"And stay safe," Mindy added.

"Rye Pete," Scooby said shaking the cat's paw.

"Purye Purooby." (Bye Scooby) Pete replied.

"Thank you for everything," Elvina said to her dear friend.

"You're welcome and thank you for saving me," Daphne said.

"Of course."

"I hope to see you again soon."

"Don't be a stranger."

"Enjoy your flight," Holly added.

The gang waved goodbye as they entered the airport. Once on the plane, Fred and Daphne watched an inflight romantic movie, and the latter had her head on his shoulder. Daphne smiled to herself, Happy to have their lives and friendships in better shape.
