The team all walked together to meet Peter and Sophie outside the administration building at the front of the grounds.
As they reached the building, they were met by the group of Cliffhangers along with Grace and her mother Annie.
"Shel" Annie walked up to JJ and hugged her "It's so good to see you."
"You too." JJ returned the hug with a smile that didn't reach her eyes as Peter and Sophie walked up to the group of people.
"How are we getting up there Peter?" Juliette asked with Auggie's arms wrapped round her bump.
"Cars up to the closest point, then it will only be a 10 minute walk till we reach the falls, so not too strenuous for you Juls" Peter Smiled at the heavily pregnant brunette understanding her worry. He then looked at Hotch "Do you mind taking your SUV?"
"No not at all, that's fine." Hotch nodded.
A car pulled into a free spot not too far from them but as it was still a school none of them took any notice of it.
"Guys listen." JJ's quite voice could just about be heard by the group "as I've got you all here. I owe you all apologies." She quickly looked at her team to her left "And before you say that I don't, I do." She turned back and looked at everyone.
As JJ was speaking no one noticed the couple walking up to them "I let you all down in some way, shape or form and there aren't enough words to express how sorry I a…"
Someone cleared their throat behind JJ.
"Hello Kitten" The colour in JJs face drained quicker than a bullet would leave a gun. JJ didn't need to turn round to know who was standing behind her, but she hoped to whatever god that would listen that she was wrong.
She slowly turned round to see the monster from her past standing in front of her holding her mother's hand.
"Wa…w…walt" JJ whispered. All the BAU team took either a protective step in front of JJ or closer to her. They all had briefly met him at JJ's mothers house, so they instantly knew who he was.
"I suggest you both leave now." Hotch growled in a terrifying voice.
"Excuse me." Scott moved next to the BAU team not understanding what was going on "Can we help you?" Peter would have stopped him, but he was in too much shock to move. The counsellors recognised the man and woman from JJ's or rather Shelby's personal file.
"Yes, I'm here for my daughter's funeral." Alice spoke, her voice was shaky, and it was obvious from her red eyes and nose she had been crying.
"Your Shelby's mother?" Scott asked as he realised who the man holding her hand must be "and that would make you…"
"A son of a bitch." Morgan went to lunge for the older man, but JJ came out of her shock and grabbed him before he could get too far.
"Derek no…" She held onto his arm tightly, was it too stop him? Or was it to hold up her shaking legs? JJ wasn't sure.
Morgan turned to look at her a little shocked and so did most of the group "not today please. Today is about Jess, nothing else."
"Are you sure you don't want to make this about you Shelby" Alice spat her daughter's name "You always were an attention seeking little bitch." JJ span on her heals and looked at her mother shock evident on her face "You never did know when to keep your mouth shut did you."
"You cannot still be blaming me for this?" the shock of her mother's words passed, and anger filled JJ's eyes.
"Yes, I am because it's your fault! You shouldn't have run away and let her to deal with everything she was only 13!" Alice continued to speak her voice filled with venom.
"Wh..What! I should have stayed?" JJ moved round the team to stand just a few feet in front of her mother "I was 10!" JJ all but shouted "He came into my bedroom every night and raped me! He did things to me that would sicken any mother but not you." For the first time that day she willingly let Shelby out of her cage "You knew what he was doing to me, but you didn't care, as long as he didn't touch your precious baby, he could do whatever he wanted to me." Tears started to fill her eyes "That Monster left your bed each night. Do you want to know what he did to me MUM! He touched me, he took my innocents, he forced himself on me, he made me bleed, made me want to kill myself because I was dirty but I put up with it for 5 years because he promised that if I didn't tell, if I was a good girl and did as I was told he wouldn't touch Jess but I couldn't take it any more so instead of going to the police and him hurting Jess I ran away from him. I thought that if I just left and still kept my mouth shut, she would be ok."
Her mother no longer looked angry, but she didn't seem upset either, she had the same cold look JJ grew up with "I remember the first night he did it. He came in on my 10th birthday and climbed on top of me I begged him not to and I called for you. I called out for you to help me, but you never came. Did you hear me that night? Any of the nights I called you until I stopped because I realised, you'd never save me. You left me with him because you were too scared of being alone with two children, so you sacrificed me for your own happiness."
"Kitten, Enough! show your mother some respect!" Walt took a step towards JJ but this time not just The BAU team but everyone else took a protective step towards him.
"Take a step closer to her and nothing will stop me putting a bullet through your head." Morgan growled then bent down to pull his gun out of the holster to show how serious he really was, to his and everyone else's surprise Hotch didn't stop him.
"What? Show her the same respect you showed me? Do you know what you are? You're a paedophile. A dirty old man who likes to rape little girls. I wish I had killed you the night I called the police. I came so close to killing the both of us that night but I didn't because I wanted justice for Jess. I was already damaged beyond repair but not Jess there was still something in her to save but when you got released, she was never the same again. She always had that scared and disappointed look about her" JJ wiped the tears that had fallen down her face.
"I think its now time you left." Rossi growled throwing death glares at the disgusting couple.
"No…" JJ looked her mother and Walt in the eye.
"WHAT? Jayje you can't be serious?" Morgan asked with his gun still in his hand.
"I'm deadly serious. I want them to see what they did to Jess because they are also the reason she's dead not just me. I want them both to see that I refuse to be broken anymore. I have the family that I've always wanted and even with what he did to me I still made something of myself." JJ didn't lose eye contact with either of the people from her nightmares.
Hotch turned His back to the couple to look in JJ's eyes. He needed to make sure there wasn't even the smallest amount of doubt in them. "JJ are you sure that's what you want?"
"I'm sure Aaron." JJ very rarely use his first name. He understood how serious she was.
"Ok" He turned to them "You will both get in your car, and you will follow us. Under no circumstances will you approach Agent Jareau. Do I make myself clear?"
Walt just stared at JJ and Alice gave them all dirty looks. They both walked to their car and waited to leave for Hope Falls.
Emily was standing next to JJ when she saw the blonde's knees shake and start to give in. Emily quickly wrapped her arm round JJ waist to stop her falling to the floor. JJ was visibility shaking and you could see just by looking at her they she wasn't coping with the situation that just unfolded.
"Its ok Jayje, you can cry." The BAU team gathered round her but the others held back to give the blonde a bit of privacy and space.
"No I can't, not while their here." JJ refused to let them see her crumble. She will hold it together until they are gone.
JJ used with little energy she had to pull herself together hoping that her family will hold her up after.
