This is the next chapter. In this chapter I changed some boggarts. Please read and review, love Hannah xxx
Remus smiled to himself as he set the wardrobe up with confidence. They'd done this in his day and people had feared mummies, snakes, rats and silly things like that. He was sure it would be the same this time. He was looking forward in particular to seeing what Heidi feared the most. Maybe if he found out about it he could somehow use it to his own advantage and convince her for another sorting. He agreed with Albus that she'd been wrongly housed and would no doubt be looking to be in Gryffindor as soon as she realised how bad Slytherin was for her. James would have hated it so much something which really didn't sit right with him. Lily wouldn't have cared either way which also didn't sit right with him. It felt as though by being in Slytherin she was actively betraying her father something he found very difficult to take. Deciding to relax before class he made himself a hot chocolate sighing at the taste of it. He was soon brought from his reverie as the first years entered. Time had gotten away from him.
He stood up eyeing them all. The Slytherins looked very chilled out, the Ravenclaws looked apprehensive, the Hufflepuffs looked stunned and the Gryffindors looked furious. He wondered what was going on with them all but assumed it was some inter house rivalry thing and wasn't going to interfere with it. He didn't need that kind of aggravation in his life. "Hello everyone and welcome. Have a seat please. Now for your first DADA lesson we shall be facing a boggart something which shows us all our deepest fear. The thing which finishes off a boggart is humour. So when it comes out of the cupboard and takes the form of what you fear the most you must cast Ridikulus at it like so!" he said demonstrating the spell for them.
"You mean that Percy was a jerk for nothing and that the Slytherin prefects were telling the truth when they said we'd be facing a boggart in this lesson. They told us this yesterday because Professor Snape was overheard talking to someone about it and they thought they should let everyone know!" Seamus said as Remus scowled. It wasn't meant to be this way. They weren't meant to know beforehand. Now the element of surprise was gone. Damn Severus to hell! He really hated that greasy bat although he didn't actually look very greasy lately for some reason.
"Well either way you are. You were not meant to know that before this lesson actually took place but it is what it is. Now then Miss Potter please step forward to face the boggart as we'll get yours out of the way quickly so we can focus on others. Come on now don't be shy!" he said with a slight edge to his voice which she didn't miss.
"If I might suggest sir some people's fears may be much worse than others I'm not sure but would it not be best to face it with you alone?!" she inquired as he looked furious.
"Five points from Slytherin for not following a direct order as it was given. I don't imagine many people could fear anything that terrifying" he snapped at her in rage. He would soon learn how incredibly naïve he'd been. It was a mistake she was more than willing to let him make. He was being incredibly thick stupid but he would need to learn. He flicked his wand opening the wardrobe as the dementor stepped out stunning him into silence. She called out Ridikulus as his now pink robes attempted to choke him to death whilst he was screaming his head off. If he'd thought she might fear anything this wouldn't have been it. He asked them all to form a line and one by one they'd face the dementor next. Heidi sat down again off to one side as Hermione who had been exceptionally eager tom prove herself went next. The choking and screaming dementor shifted repeatedly until it eventually settled on a librarian who looked an awful lot like Madam Pince torturing her using dark arts for borrowing too many books and never returning them. Hermione burst into tears screaming for it to end.
"Miss Granger please! Cast Ridikulus. Don't forget that spell!" he said horrified with what he was seeing. This certainly wasn't a mummy or rat as there had been in his day. Clearly he'd bitten off more than he could chew but couldn't back down. After screaming herself raw and almost fainting she managed a weak Ridikulus whilst looking at him in horror.
"Was it utterly necessary to put me through that professor? That was so awful. Why would you be so mean!?" she asked extremely shaken indeed. Then as she hadn't moved away fast enough the now tap dancing and bound librarian turned into Professor McGonagall calling her a failure and saying she didn't belong in their world and would never fit in there. She had failed all of her classes and was being expelled! She screamed out no flailing her wand and breaking several desks in the process as people screamed at her about scaring them. She cast Ridikulus so hard that the boggart flew back inside the wardrobe which then shattered as she passed out. She was placed in a chair by Remus who said he'd bring her to the hospital wing once everyone was finished. She was passed out anyway so what more could be done for her? This was what he thought to himself anyway.
Some Hufflepuff members had rather harrowing fears of being raped or forcefully married off to much older and creepy looking family members. Ron went next and his fear was not what he had initially thought it would be. A huge spider appeared there ready to attack him as he screamed but the image changed as he saw his family being murdered one by one by a death eater in full garb. Remus himself was horrified. Ron cast Ridikulus feeling very proud of himself when Heidi told him well done. He had done it. He had overcome his fears and lived to tell the tale. Percy would be getting in the neck from many sides later on for sure. The Gryffindors to the ire of Heidi did fear things like spiders and mummies as Remus had wrongly assumed everyone would. It was pathetic. Some of the Ravenclaws also saw dementors and even Voldemort. By the end of the lesson many people had screamed themselves raw from all houses but Slytherin he was annoyed to say. He was utterly mortified. So focused on making a fool of Heidi and her house had he been that he failed to see how let down the other houses were. Some more students passed out from fear and were brought to the hospital wing where Madam Pomfrey slapped his face so hard it turned the other way.
"REMUS JOHN LUPIN! What on earth possessed you to submit first years to a boggart of all things and why was Miss Granger not brought to me as soon as she passed out. I was informed you left her unconscious for twenty or so minutes to finish your lesson. She has suffered magical exhaustion and literally scared herself stiff. You do realise don't you, you idiot that this is not just a phrase in the wizarding world! She was so terrified her body literally seized up. Ten students Remus! I will be reporting this to Minerva later on mark my words!" she snapped as Severus entered carrying new potions for her.
"Will be reporting what Poppy? Here are the new potions you needed. What is going on in here?" he asked in concern.
"Remus decided to show first years a boggart of all things and Miss Granger here literally scared herself stiff. It will take days to loosen her up once more. Ten different students passed out from fear of the situation. You know how Albus gets with second chances and such so I will be informing Minerva before I inform him. In fact please inform Filius and Pomona about this as they will want to know!" she said as Remus looked highly torn.
"But I genuinely don't understand! We did this ourselves in school and we saw things like mummies and rats and so on. Why on earth did they see such harrowing things? I mean Ronald Weasley saw a death eater in full garb murdering his entire family in front of him. This is not one bit normal. In which manner are they even being raised? Could things have seriously changed so much since nineteen seventy five?" he asked genuinely perplexed and extremely annoyed at how well the entirety of Slytherin house had performed. They all looked very scared but had performed effortlessly none the less. Just then Dumbledore bustled into the hospital wing himself looking highly put out.
"Remus dear friend what went wrong? I thought when you told me about your lesson plan you said they would fear rats and mummies and such. Did they not do so?" he asked as Remus paled considerably. Before he could answer however Dumbledore then asked what Heidi had feared and was utterly stunned when he was told it was a dementor. He looked like he was about to faint himself at hearing that news surprising everyone present.
"Yes well Remus this was indeed very reckless of you. I warn you now do not mess up again or there will be serious consequences. Poppy make sure these students get well and we will say nothing more about this unfortunate situation!" he said as Poppy looked at him a stern expression on her face.
"That is not possible. I wrote to the DMLE about this. I have been left with no choice. He left Miss Granger unconscious for twenty or so minutes in order to finish his lesson. He will be punished for this as should he and indeed you. If you knew what he was planning on teaching him you should have told him to not do so with first years. Albus they are just eleven the poor dears! Now out of my infirmary while I administer the treatment to these poor students. Severus please stay behind and help me!" she ordered. What a mess.
