Chapter 6: safely home
Edge of Fire Country Forest
Neji quickly unties Naruto as Gaara apprehends all the men in the hut and the two men outside. Gaara begins to squeeze the life out of the men when he hears Neji speak.
"Stop! Hokage-Sama would want these men to face justice, also Naruto wouldn't want this." The chunin said as he finished untying Naruto.
Gaara sighs as he loosens his grip on the men. He looks at Naruto and begins to see how his friend is. He holds Naruto's hand as a single tear falls down his cheek. Naruto slightly opens his eyes and sees two people but his vision is too blurry to see anyone but he feels happy that he is alive. He begins to whisper something,
"Thank you." the blonde says as he passes out from the pain.
Gaara uses his sand to lift Naruto up and with Neji he walks out of the hit, while still holding onto the men. As they step outside Jiraiya, Anko, Iruka, Temari and Kankuro are arriving at the scene. Iruka watches in horror as he approaches the boy who is like a brother to him.,
"Naruto, I'm so sorry. I should have taken you away from here on that night." Iruka says as he sobs holding Naruto in his arms.
Jiraiya puts his hand on Iruka's shoulder and tells him "It's time to take the Gaki back. He needs medical attention asap." Iruka nods as he gets up and takes off in the trees. As everyone is leaving Gaara notices that Jiraiya isn't moving. Gaara turns to the legendary Sannin as he stares at the hut with a face full of rage.
"Aren't you going to come along, Jiraiya-sama?" The young Kazekage asks.
"No, I need to secure the scene of the crime. I honestly wish I could burn this hellish building and end this nightmare but Tsunade-hime would bash me to the ground." Jiraiya says with a chuckle at the end.
Gaara walks up to him and nods as he too wishes he could kill the men responsible. It's the least he could do after Naruto saved him and made him into a better man. Jiraiya tells Gaara to go with Naruto and as he watches the redhead jump away he walks into the little hut. As he looks around he sees the spot where Naruto was tied up. As he looked at the scene he began to vomit at the sight of all the blood and the smell. As he begins to walk away he bumps into a stand and sees a camera pointing at the spot Naruto was. His eyes look at the camera as he slowly picks up the camera. He turns on the camera but isn't sure if he is ready to press play or not. He slowly moves his finger and presses play, but he soon regrets it as he watches in horror of everything his godson went through.
"Please, stop! It hurts!"
"The demon should have been killed a long time ago."
"This won't end until you've suffered."
"Please, make it stop. I don't want to die."
Those last words were the last words Naruto said before Neji and Gaara arrived. Jiraiya was furious. He clenched his fist which soon began to bleed. He was beginning to form some hand signs but stopped when he felt multiple chakra signatures coming towards him.
"Jiraiya-sama, we are here to relieve you from securing the scene of the crime. Hokage-sama is expecting you to return soon." The ANBU tells him as Jiraiya nods and heads back to Konoha.
Meanwhile, at the gates of Konoha,
Iruka and the rest of the Naruto Rescue team are approaching the gates of Konoha at blazing speeds. As they approach, two chunin watch as the group land in front of them. Kotetsu and Izumo approach the group but stand back as Iruka continues to run with a bloody Naruto in his arms.
"Kotetsu, Izumo inform Hokage-sama that we have found Uzumaki Naruto and are heading to the Hospital!" Iruka says as continues to head to the hospital. "Naruto, please hold on. We're gonna get through this." Iruka whispers as runs through the village.
As Iruka and the rest of the group run through the village, citizens watch in horror as they see the bloody body of the young blonde shinobi. Some of the villagers smirk at this but most of them all just look towards the hospital.
After a few minutes the group arrives at the entrance and begins to yell, "Someone, please help him. Call Hokage-sama and tell her Naruto is here!" As doctors and nurses approach the group and take Naruto into surgery, Tsunade rushes through the door along with her assistant Shizune.
"Where is he?! Where is Naruto?!" she demands as a nurse shows her to the operating room with Shizune. Both medic-nin come through the door and join the group as they begin to repair Naruto's damaged eye and heal his arm as much as they can.
Iruka sits in the waiting room along with Anko and the Sand siblings. Anko sits next to Iruka and holds a sobbing Iruka.
"Don't worry so much Iruka-kun. That gaki has guts and I just know he won't die from this." Anko says as she puts her hand on his cheek and forces him to look here in the eyes. Iruka gives her a small as he looks up and prays to Kami that Naruto survives.
As Iruka awaits for any results from Naruto they are distracted by the sudden entrance of the Konoha 12 and their sensei. They all begin to bombard Iruka and their group but they are silenced when someone else arrives.
"All of you SHUT UP!" a pissed off Jiraiya says to everyone. He continues "We must trust Hokage-sama and Shizune that they can help Naruto."
7 hours later,
As the Konoha 12 continue to wait for any results on Naruto's surgery, Tsunade and Shizune walk through the door and approach the large group. Hinata is the first of the group to ask Tsunade a question.
"How is Naruto-kun? Is he alright?" she begins to question the busty blonde.
"Shizune and I were able to repair the damage done to his left eye. We were also able to repair the damage to his ribs and lungs. His arm is another story. With his arm being cut off for at least a day, we weren't able to save it. With his injury it will be difficult for him to continue being a shinobi. Now we just have to wait for him to wake up" Tsunade reports to the group.
Hinata begins to sob as she falls to the ground. Ino, Sakura, and Tenten also have tears as they each comfort each other. The rest of the group don't take the news any better. Sasuke clenches his fist and thinks to himself, "Naruto, why didn't you fight back. Why didn't you trust us with this?"
"Physically he is going to be fine, but mentally, he will have a long road ahead of him." The blonde informs the group with a tear in her eye.
"What do you mean, Hokage-sama?" Shikamaru asks with a serious look.
"Well I have read all of Naruto's previous attacks. This event is probably the one that will break him mentally. We won't know until he wakes up" Tsunade answers.
"When will he wake up Hokage-sama?" the beefy genin asks.
"That I don't know. Could be a couple days, a couple months or even years. It's all up to Naruto." the Hokage says to everyone. The group looked to the floor, all with grim faces.
"Now it's late and your families must be wondering where everyone is. Everyone go home and rest and we can all visit him tomorrow. That is an Order." Tusande says with authority in her voice.
As the Genin all begin to walk out only to hear Hinata speak.
"No. I won't leave Naruto-Kun by himself." The shy girls firmly says.
Everyone is shocked by her actions except for Sasuke who also stands his ground as he lets out a "Hm."
Tsunade is about to lash out on the Hyuga and Uchiha but is stopped by the one eyed Jounin.
"Hokage-sama, I can stay here with them and I promise to send them home tomorrow. I also wish to stay here for my student." spoke the calm Kakashi.
Tsunade sighs and gives Kakashi a nod. She then takes Sasuke and Hinata to Naruto's room. As she stops in front of the last room of the hallway, she motions them to be quiet. Both Genin and Jounin walk into the room and see a blond boy laying on a bed with a tube in his mouth to help him breathe. Hinata begins to sob as she approaches Naruto and sits next to his bed. She grabs his hands and whispers,
"I'm right here Naruto-kun. I'm not going anywhere." she spoke softly.
Four Months Later,
It has been four months since Naruto's surgery but he remains in a coma since then. He gets regular visits from each of his friends and from Jiraiya and Tsunade. Since his surgery, Jiraiya has stayed in Konoha hoping to be here when Naruto wakes up. Tsunade has now begun to do all her paperwork in the same room as Naruto in order to be near him at all times. Tsunade looks at her surrogate grandson and decides that this is enough.
Hokage Tower,
Tsunade sits behind her old desks as she hears a knock on her door. As she orders the person to enter, she sees the head of the Yamanaka Clan, Inoichi.
"Inoichi-san, thank you for coming on short notice." the Hokage says as she motions him to sit.
"Hokage-sama, what could I do for you?" the blonde asks.
"As you know, Naruto has been in a coma for 4 months now. I was thinking if you could enter his mind and see why he hasn't woken up." Tsunade asks with hope.
"I'm sorry Tsunade-sama, entering the mind of an early teen could very well do more harm than good. I could severely damage him if he rejects the Jutsu." Inoichi informs his Hokage.
Tsunade frowns at his answer but continues to ask Inoichi. After a few days Inoichi finally agrees to enter Naruto's mind and help him.

Author's notes: Sorry about the delay in chapter. I had writer's block but after writing down some ideas for other stories i got some for this idea. I think the end of this story could be coming in 1 or 2 chapters. Let me know how you like the chapter or story.
