Chapter Fourteen:

After a few minutes of searching, Heather and the bushy haired girl, who still hadn't properly introduced herself, managed to find the boy known as Neville's toad, whose name was apparently Trevor, which was rather promptly returned to his owner, who was found near the compartment Heather's cat still occupied. Deciding that the kid was polite enough when he asked whether or not he and the bushy haired girl, whose name was apparently Hermione, could join her in the compartment, Heather let them. And while it was quiet for quite a while, Heather didn't miss the other two occupants, occasionally sending either her shadow or her Umbran Watch nervous and/or curious glances. The Umbra Witch eventually got fed up and decided to do something about it.

"Do I presume correctly that you two have questions about me?" Asked Heather in a somewhat annoyed tone. "Name's Heather by the way."

"Nice to know what your name is. And… yeah, I for one do have questions, like what's up with your shadow and that thing on your chest?" Replied Hermione, earning herself a nod from Neville who apparently wanted to know as well.

"*sigh* while you two are a normal Witch and a normal Wizard respectively, I'm not."

"Huh? You're not?"

"Nope. I'm an Umbra Witch."

"Impossible." Replied Neville, speaking up for the first time. "The Umbra and Lumen went extinct over 500 years ago."

"That might have happened but we're back. Though the only other Umbra Witch I know is my big sister and she's not really a traditional one. And I've never met any Lumen Sages, so I can't really say anything about those stuck up sticks in the mud, as Viola said her mom described them."

"Her mom?"

"Same dad, different moms. Never knew the guy though." Replied Heather with a shrug, not giving a damn about the fact that what she said was technically a lie.

"Half-sisters then?"

"Yup. Viola is more than a few years older than me though, so she's my legal guardian after both of us lost our parents."

"Did you lose your parents when those… goop-things showed up as well?" Asked Hermione with an expression of what looked like discomfort, which was further cemented by a shudder.

"My sympathies." Replied Heather, who had a feeling that she knew what Hermione was referring to as the 'goop-things' were. The Homunculi. "What do you two say about putting this conversation on hold for a while?"

"Yeah."

"I can live with that."
