Spider-Man: Fire and Desire
NEW AUTHOR'S NOTE AS OF 11/6/2020, PLEASE READ: Okay, FanFiction had a dang meltdown for like 5 or 6 days straight, and some readers weren't able to read the newest chapter which is arguably the most important one yet. Because of this debacle, even with this whole thing being not my fault, I am posting this chapter again so it can be viewed without any complications this time. HOWEVER, there's a reason why this is called The Revelation 2.1. For the people who have read this chapter and have not read this chapter, I added a part at the end of the story which was originally going to be in Chapter 6 as an apology to all my readers, even though none of this was my fault. You all will get extra dialogue on what's happening with Peter along with getting more Felicia, Miles, Harry, Gwen, and Aunt May. Hope you guys enjoy the added content! And for the people that have already read this chapter, feel free to read it again, lol.
Old Author's Note as of 10/31/2020 AKA Halloween: What is this sorcery?! Two updates in the same month?! Shocking, I know, lol. But I'm back with the anticipated chapter 5 I hyped up, and boy, this is gonna be something. Now to quickly reply to a prediction on what could be on the USB!
Mnej: Felicia's past? Hmmmm, very interesting. It could make sense, but is it going to be her past? I guess we'll all find out. I'm a troll, I know. Maybe the info on the USB won't be any shocking information at all! Haha.
Another quick review!
Highlander348: Definitely some good insight on the Peter/Flash situation when it comes to bullying and how you dealt with bullying yourself. Always open for great insights like these since I want to improve my writing as much as possible.
As for all the reviewers, NamelessPassionate, Badger12, Apple424, all the guests, Jeremiah Woodley, MarvelousManiac, Akira-Hayama, Leviathan117, Mnej, Sidious7777, Highlander348, SpiderCatForever, Jay Youngblood, and the rest of you beautiful people who have favorited and followed this story, thank you all so much! Chapter 5: The Revelation 2.1
BGM: The Amazing Spider-Man – Peter's Suspicions
After Peter got done cleaning the basement, now it was time to get to the bottom of things. He would go up stairs and enter his room, carrying the mysterious USB that he found in a suitcase. Closing his door and locking it, he wanted to make sure there weren't any interruptions during his investigation.
If he were just regular old Peter Parker, you could say he might be taking things a bit too seriously for some little USB drive.
But Peter Parker isn't only Peter Parker, as you all know. His Spider-Man side was telling him something was up, and he was going to figure this thing out.
Making his way to his chair and desk, he sat down and logged on to his computer. He took another look at the USB drive, truly not knowing what to think. He figures it might be important, but how important is it?
Heck, who's USB was this to begin with? Aunt May isn't computer savvy, at least to his knowledge. It wasn't his. Did somebody drop this off? And if so, who?
So many questions, no answers.
And there's only one way to get answers.
"Here goes nothing," Peter told himself, inserting the USB into his computer. He started opening all the files that were available to him.
The first thing to pop up?
WILSON FISK: HERO OF NEW YORK
Peter's eyebrow immediately raised, confusion coming onto his face as he read the file's title. "Wilson Fisk?" he said, seeing there was a large amount of information on him. From what he knows, Wilson Fisk is one of the heroes of New York City. You always see him in the paper doing great things for people.
However… looks can be deceiving.
As he started to scroll through the general information, he was beginning to wonder why he was even looking at this. There's nothing here, absolutely nothing. I mean, why would anything bad be attached to Wilson Fisk's name?
But then something caught his eye.
He got to a section of the file where it explained the tragic deaths of Wilson Fisk's wife, Vanessa, and his son, Richard.
"Man, the pain he must've went through when it happened." Peter spoke, knowing how tough it was to lose a loved one. It was said in the file Vanessa and Richard met their untimely demise in a crossfire, being innocent bystanders.
At least, that's what the initial story wants people to believe.
More information started to come out, with some people in the media speculating there may be more to this story than meets the eye. What if it wasn't just a simple crossfire? What if the murderers actually had something against Wilson Fisk?
These conspiracy theories were put to bed when this tragedy initially happened, because it was ludicrous to accuse such a great man who's done so much good for the city. Really, how dare these people even think of something like that during the time? Actively trying to bring his name down while he's lost his wife and son?
In a way, Peter was getting slightly angered by this, because he's someone who also knows how the media is always trying to find a way to bring your name down, no matter how much good you do.
This is what he thought at first.
At first.
More and more information kept piling on. It would be a mental overload for anybody else, but Peter was built differently. He was made to take in large amounts of information and somehow make sense out of everything, no matter how complicated it seems to be.
"No way…" Peter managed to say, being speechless for a long time during his reading.
It turns out the deaths of Vanessa and Richard were calculated; the whole thing being related to a gang war which was directly tied to Wilson Fisk's name. Why would Wilson Fisk be connected with gangs? Who in the world did he piss off so much to the point where his wife and son had to die?
And as it turns out, Wilson Fisk doesn't only go by Wilson Fisk. His other name?
The Kingpin.
He tried to find another name connected to this murder, something, anything. The other name tied to the gang war Wilson Fisk, or the Kingpin, was apparently in. This second name that could be the reason why Vanessa and Richard died.
Nothing.
He sighed heavily at this development. He had all this information, yet he was still so far away in connecting the dots.
Man, he wanted to punch something right now.
Fortunately or unfortunately for Peter, though, there was still more to the story.
Opening up another file, it would be the final piece to his current puzzle, until he's able to find out more information on his own of course.
PROJECT M
That was the title of the file Peter saw, and what he found out about it blew his mind.
Not in a good way, either.
His eyes widened out of shock, all the alarms going off in his head as he continued to read about Project M. This was something the media and no one else knew about.
Well, no one else except for Peter now.
Project M, as explained in the files, is something Wilson Fisk has been working on for years. The amount of resources and technology he originally had years ago wasn't good enough to make this thing a reality, but as the years went on, it became a real possibility.
Project M's purpose was to travel to other worlds.
After the deaths of Vanessa and Richard, Wilson Fisk and his group of scientists started to vigorously work on the project, the hope being he could correct his mistakes by going to another universe where his family was still alive.
But there were multiple bumps in the road, explosive, blood-riddled bumps Wilson Fisk had to cover up so nobody would be able to find out what he's been trying to do. Messing with other worlds?
Would Peter try to do the same thing with Uncle Ben if he were in Wilson Fisk's position?
The thought entered his brain for a moment, only for it to be completely eliminated as it got replaced by the amount of things that could go wrong, especially since he started reading about the amount of deaths on Fisk's hands due to the project being unstable.
Then, during his thoughts, a voice would come into his head.
"You can't even fully grasp the dangers of what Fisk is trying to do yet."
Peter looked around, yelling, "Who said that?!"
"You'll find out soon enough."
Alternate Dimension
Suddenly, a pink and purple cloud of smoke started to surround him, Peter now not knowing what the heck to expect. When the smoke cleared, he saw he was transported into this… never ending blue abyss. To make things weirder, he looked at his hands and saw he was in his iconic red and blue Spider-Man costume.
All the crazy crap always happens to him.
"Okay, what's going on?! Who sent me here?!"
"That would be me, Mr. Parker."
Spidey looked up and saw a rather strange looking sight. It was an older woman talking to him. Gray hair, red shades covering her eyes, red polished nails, white earrings, a red and black costume with a huge white spider symbol in the middle, a whole deck of cards in front of her, and an unnatural looking green and yellow chair behind her. There was a gray design behind the chair that looked like a web of some sorts.
"Or should I call you Spider-Man?" the woman added.
"You have the wrong guy!" Spidey said, his first instinct trying to protect his secret identity, no matter how futile it was right now.
"You're a horrible liar," the woman told him, sighing. "But I guess your reaction is to be expected. Allow me to introduce myself, Spider-Man." she said casually. "I am Madame Web, and I've contacted you to let you know about the dangers of what Fisk is trying to do."
Spider-Man's mind was racing, his thoughts trying to fathom what was happening. One minute, he was in his room, and the next minute, he was talking to some older lady in a spider costume while being in an abyss.
He took deep breaths, composing himself as he tried not to freak out. "This whole thing is still super weird to me."
"Focus on the topic at hand," Madame Web said, an heir of authority being in her voice.
"I already know what Fisk is trying to do. If I don't stop him and his project, then lives will be lost." Spider-Man said, thinking he got the entirety of the situation.
Madame Web sighed. "You're only looking at it in simple terms. If Fisk gets his project running, there could be a dimensional rift that could take out New York, and eventually your universe as a whole if things really got chaotic."
Spider-Man's eyes widened at this news. "Wait, wait, wait. Hold on, a dimensional rift?"
"You truly think your universe is the only one?" Madame Web asked seriously, really not believing what she was hearing. "Dear God, if I wasn't here to tell you this news, your universe would be toast."
"Okay, okay! Wait a minute! What do you mean by other universes?!" Spidey asked.
"Let me put it this way. You're not the only Spider-Man." Madame Web figured she would start off with this so Spidey could really take in what she was saying.
Spidey stood in silence, trying to put everything together in his mind. "I'm… not the only Spider-Man?"
Madame Web nodded. "Each Spider-Man has their own universe. Some are similar to yours, while other universes are completely different. However, the point I'm trying to make is these universes should remain untouched, especially if someone is messing with everything by unnatural means which is what Fisk will do if he isn't stopped. If all of these universes combine, the results could be catastrophic."
This information was a bombshell. Other Spider-Men, different universes, if these universes collide everything could go up in flames… All of this is so sudden.
For a moment, Spidey was taking everything in, and the more he thought about it, the more he believed it. "I'm not even sure if Fisk really knows what he's doing."
"He doesn't," Madame Web confirmed. "Which is why he needs to be stopped immediately. The fate of this universe, along with all of the other universes, rest in your hands, Mr. Parker."
Oh great, now Peter is responsible for not only his universe, but an entire multiverse.
Or Spider-Verse.
The smoke that brought Spidey in started to surround him again, signaling it was his time to go. "Wait! I still have more questions! There's so many things I-!"
"When you need me, I will be there. You are on your own for now."
Aaaaand that was the last thing she said.
Back to the Original Dimension
Just like that, with the smoke covering him up once again, Peter was back in his room, still suited up as Spider-Man.
As much as he would like to go through an existential crisis right now and frustratingly yell to the heavens on why he was chosen to be the savior of multiple freaking universes…
There's no time for games anymore.
Peter had his mind made up.
He needed to stop Wilson Fisk, The Kingpin, now.
With no time to waste, he opened his window and started swinging all the way to Fisk Towers, never being more determined to take somebody down.
Fisk Towers
BGM: Spider-Man TAS 1994 – Late at Night
"So, what does the great Kingpin want with me?" a feminine voice asked, being none other than the Black Cat. Being inside Fisk Towers, she was talking to the big man himself, the crime lord of New York.
The Kingpin.
"Considering how you ruined my plans with the Spider-Slayer, I figured it was finally time to meet you myself." The Kingpin explained, having a smirk on his face as he sat in his huge chair.
Black Cat folded her arms, scoffing. She figured the giant mechanical spider of death could've been Kingpin's doing, but she would focus on other matters for now. "Well, you should know that I don't work for free." she said seriously, earning a laugh from Kingpin.
"Nonsense, my dear. I've been in this business for a long time, and I assure you, you'll be paid handsomely in money and jewelry." Kingpin's smirk never left his face as he said this, knowing the Black Cat had a bad habit with taking things that wasn't hers, specifically the money and jewelry part.
Darn him and his high crime lord IQ.
Hearing this, it certainly caught Black Cat's attention.
"I'm listening," Black Cat said, clearly being interested in what Kingpin had to say.
Now, it was time for the Kingpin to make his pitch.
"As you know, I'm trying to take over this city. Year by year, it was becoming a reality as my influence over New York became higher and higher. As of right now, it's the highest it's ever been." he told Black Cat, slightly bragging a bit which made her roll her eyes.
"Get to the point," she said, getting a little impatient.
"Patience is a virtue, Black Cat." Kingpin pointed out, continuing to speak. "However, ever since last year, one man has been slowing my plans down. I'm sure you can take a guess on the man I'm talking about." he told her, the whole world knowing who Kingpin was referring to.
"Spider-Man?" Black Cat replied.
"Bingo." Kingpin said, nodding. "I have no idea where he came from, but he's been growing as an annoyance like the bug he is. No matter how much you throw at him, it's like he always finds a way to get back up." He got up from his chair, turning his back to Black Cat as he looked around his massive tower. "It's a shame, too. I surely thought I had him last time, and I may very well have. Unfortunately, you, and the heroes they call Iceman and Firestar put a stop to his demise."
Black Cat was intently listening, and she thought she figured out what Kingpin wanted her to do. "So, what are you trying to say here? You want me to kill him?" she said, not liking the idea at all.
Kingpin turned around, waving his hands in disagreement. "Oh no no, my dear. I wouldn't ask you to get your hands dirty. That's my job." he confirmed, grinning. "All I want you to do is to bring him here. Bring him to my domain where I know I'll be able to end him."
"If you think bringing him to your so-called domain is going to give you an edge, you're greatly underestimating him." Black Cat bluntly said, but Kingpin would disagree.
"I've underestimated him in the past when he first came onto the scene. I assure you, I refuse to make the same mistake again." Kingpin's voice was chilling, menacing. He meant every word that came out of his mouth. "Spider-Man is the only person stopping me from ruling this city."
"But wouldn't it be a bad thing if he found out who you really are?" Black Cat brought up. "Don't you want to keep your hero façade in his face, so you can always have the element of surprise?"
Kingpin would disagree. "I've had the element of surprise against him for a long time. It hasn't worked once." he explained, remaining calm. "You know, Einstein once said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, which he is absolutely right on. I plan to take a different approach now."
It was at this moment Kingpin really started to look at Black Cat with an intense gaze. "Besides, why are you asking all these questions anyway? Don't tell me you wouldn't be able to bring the Spider in for me because you may care about him a little bit?"
Yep, that's where the truth lies.
Black Cat hates the idea of bringing Spidey to the Kingpin, even if she does get paid very well in the end. She was starting to avoid eye contact with Kingpin, knowing he hit the nail on the head.
"Oh, you must care for him a lot then." Kingpin noticed, the comment making Black Cat respond.
"Appreciate the offer, Kingpin, but I think I have better ways to enjoy the rest of my night now." she said, turning around as she began to walk away.
Kingpin sighed heavily, shaking his head in disgust. "I wish it didn't have to come to this, but it looks like you leave me with no choice."
Black Cat heard Kingpin's words, but she kept on walking because she thought he was talking a bunch of crap at this point. Ignoring him was the best thing to do.
Until it wasn't.
"I know everything about you… Felicia Hardy."
Black Cat stopped dead in her tracks, her whole body seemingly becoming frozen by the words of Kingpin. Really, she felt like she was in the twilight zone, her whole world starting to spin.
She turned around, having a shocked look on her face. "How do you know who I am?!"
"I have my ways." Kingpin menacingly said, laughing afterwards. "Though, it seems like I have your full attention now. So, listen and listen closely," began Kingpin, his eyes essentially staring into her soul. "Like I said before, I'm not asking you to kill him. That's my job. I only want you to bring him to me."
He had a short pause, forming a wicked smirk. "But… if you refuse to listen to me, then the blood of your mother might as well be on your hands."
Black Cat's eyes widened, now becoming enraged. "Leave my mother alone! She has nothing to do with this!"
"I'm afraid she does. Whatever I say goes." Kingpin reminded, flexing his power and the true amount of it. "I nearly run this city, inside and out. I have people who could kill your mother right this second and not a single thing would be linked to me. It would be such a shame if she had to die. That would sadly leave you with no parents."
Now, Black Cat was getting pissed.
"You shut your mouth!"
Kingpin waved his finger, almost like he was disciplining a child. "Ah ah ah, my dear. I advise you to calm that temper of yours, or I might just kill your mother right now."
Black Cat was about to say something else, but since she knew Kingpin wasn't joking, she had to restrain herself from getting into more trouble.
God, how could she get herself into this mess? She usually gets into mess, but this time, ohhhhh she's really topped it this time.
Kingpin had a crooked smile, knowing he had Black Cat right where he wanted her.
"I get the feeling we understand each other now. Good." Kingpin gave his nod of approval, giving a slow clap. "You have three hours to bring me Spider-Man, or you can kiss your mother goodbye."
He then started to wave, essentially sending her off.
"Good luck." he said, having a troll-like smile.
All Black Cat could do now was turn around and walk away, her frustration rising by the second.
New York City
Swinging through the night sky at blistering speeds was Spider-Man, now realizing how dangerous Kingpin could be. "Man, adrenaline must be giving me a record time." he told himself, noticing how fast he was going. As he was swinging, he then noticed somebody else from the corner of his eye who was swinging as well. This person?
Black Cat.
If Madame Web was right on this whole thing, Spidey figured he needs all the help he can get if he wants to save all these universes. Truthfully, part of him was ready to take on the challenge, but the other part of him… was scared. He was still very young. He's only a senior in high school, and now multiple freaking universes were at stake.
And the only one who could save everyone was him.
Yeah, Uncle Ben did say with great power comes great responsibility, but I don't think he had universal savior in mind. Unless he could see the future or something.
Nonetheless, who would want to do this task alone? Better question, who can do this task alone? He knows Black Cat has some issues with being on a particular side, one minute seemingly being good and then the next minute, she's back to being a cat burglar.
But… when things get really tough, she's proven to have come through. In the direst times, Spidey trusts her.
Is it good judgement?
Is it a mistake?
Guess he'll find out.
BGM: Spider-Man 2 Game Soundtrack – Black Cat Chase Part 1
Changing directions, Spidey took off after Black Cat, not being too far behind her as he began to pick up speed. Once he was able to get close enough, he began to call out her name. "Cat!"
Black Cat knew that voice all too well, and to be quite honest with you, it was the absolute last voice she wanted to hear.
Well, maybe second to last if you count Kingpin, but you get the point.
She knew her mission. She knew what she was supposed to do.
But actually going through with it?
An entirely different story.
"Buzz off!" she exclaimed in an angry manner, picking up her own speed as she wanted to get away from Spidey.
It's safe to say Spidey noticed this, and it's when he truly realized something was wrong. Black Cat is in the mood to play their little cat and mouse game all the time. When she's seemingly turning it down, oh yeah, something was very wrong.
"Cat, wait!" Spidey yelled to her, but his words would fall on deaf ears. He actively groaned, knowing this chase was going to be more complicated than usual.
Web zipping to make himself catch up, he continued to try to get Cat's attention. "What's wrong with you?! Why are you acting so weird?!"
"None of your business!" Black Cat shouted, landing on a building and jumped off of it, freefalling. Before she hit the ground, she shot another grappling hook, swinging herself to the left since she was trying her best to make Spidey confused with her sudden movements.
Though, he and her have been at this chasing game for a long time, and both knew each other's tricks.
Spidey looked at two buildings, getting a quick idea in his head to give himself an extra push. He shot two webs at the two buildings that were on the right and left sides, shooting himself out like he came out of a cannon.
Black Cat took one look behind her, and saw Spidey was still right on her tail, even after all the misdirection. "Man, he's good." Black Cat thought, but she wishes this was the one time where Spidey was off his game. Looks like it wasn't going to happen.
"Shouldn't you be helping some old lady cross the street or something?!" Black Cat yelled.
"Nah, I already got that merit badge!" replied Spidey. As hard as he was trying, Black Cat was still ahead, and it was beginning to get on his nerves. "Hey, slow down so I can talk to you!"
"What? Slow down? Yeah right! If you can't keep up, go home!"
This was getting nowhere.
With both of them leaping from building to building, it looks like Spidey has to be a bit more aggressive in this chase.
"One clean shot, that's all I need." Spidey told himself, waiting for the right moment to shoot a web at Black Cat's foot. Once she landed on another building, Spidey shot the web right at her left foot just as she was about to jump again. This made her get off balance, now out of control freefalling from the building as she was about to meet her doom.
Until, you know, Spidey grabbed her hand to save her.
Spidey got closer to her, their heads facing each other as both of them were panting heavily. "Now can we talk like human beings?"
Black Cat, knowing she was beaten, and pretty tired for that matter, knew she now had no other choice but to talk to Spidey. "This feels pretty human to me." she replied, Spidey pulling her up and now they were able to talk to each other without the chase madness.
"Cat, I don't know what's going on with you, but it's clear to me something is wrong." Spidey told her. "Why don't you trust me? You know I wouldn't do anything to hurt you."
Oh God, those words struck Black Cat's heart like a knife. In fact, she wanted to kill herself right now. She knows Spidey wouldn't do anything to hurt her, but in her case?
Well, she doesn't want to, if that means anything.
Guilt, never ending guilt was forming.
"Kill me now, deliver me from this hell." Black Cat thought to herself, trying to remain composed on the outside.
"I do trust you," Black Cat confirmed, and soon, Spidey placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Then tell me what's wrong." Spidey said in a caring tone, truly wanting to help her.
Black Cat remained silent, looking away from Spidey since she still didn't want to explain what happened. Too many negatives. It would ruin the mission, her secret identity would get revealed, there's just too many things that could and would go wrong.
It was clear she wasn't going to speak, and it left Spidey no choice but to take the lead on things. If Black Cat didn't want to talk about it, then that's her choice. He needed to move quickly anyway. "Okay, fine. Don't tell me. I do have another question, though." he said, now moving onto the next thing.
"What do you know about Wilson Fisk, or should I call him The Kingpin?"
Black Cat's eyes widened, being surprised Spidey knew about Fisk's act. "How'd you find out about his Kingpin side?"
"I'm Spider-Man, I find out about these things." he replied, Black Cat knowing all too well there was some other way he found out Wilson Fisk's true nature. But hey, with Spidey just saying 'I'm Spider-Man,' he thought it would make it sound cooler.
"I'm trying to stop him from committing more crimes, along with trying to stop one of his projects." Spidey added, Black Cat raising an eyebrow.
"Projects?" she repeated.
"Yeah, he has a project that could possibly destroy New York along with creating a dimensional rift which would be really bad for all of us."
The way Spidey explained that sounded so casual, but Black Cat was trying to fathom what she just heard. What in the world is he talking about when he says dimensional rift?
"I'm sorry, what?" Black Cat said, trying to get a better explanation.
"That's the best way I know how to explain it." Spidey replied quickly, not trying to be on this explanation part for too much longer since he figured time was of the essence. "Just know bad things will happen if I don't stop him. And I'm gonna need your help."
Oh boy, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
"Why do you need my help?" Black Cat said, really not wanting to be part of this conversation anymore. "Besides, I really don't think you should mess with Kingpin. It's better for your sake, trust me."
"I need all the help I can get because I know he's not some ordinary crime lord." Spidey sternly said, getting slightly impatient. "All I want to know is are you gonna help me or not?"
Yep, Black Cat is in the absolute worst position right now.
She closed her eyes, sighing heavily. What was she going to do? This is the perfect opportunity to bring Spidey to Kingpin, but she would be betraying him. On the other hand, if she doesn't bring him, then her mother is going to be sleeping with the fishes.
She wanted to rip her hair out, scratch something, beat something up, anything that could make her let off some steam.
But… Spidey does have a better chance of survival than her mother, all things considered.
Please, please let this be the right decision.
Gritting her teeth, Black Cat would say this. "Fine. I'll help you."
Spidey smiled under his mask. "Thanks, Cat. I knew I could-"
A flash of a camera would happen from below, making Spidey and Black Cat look to see who in the world took a picture of them.
"Hold on." Spidey said, jumping down and landed on the ground, Black Cat not being too far behind.
The guy who took the picture was a rather tall guy who was well built. Blond hair, blue eyes, while wearing a white shirt underneath his black jacket. He had blue jeans to go along with all black shoes.
"Oh wow, thank you guys for coming down here! These pics are going to be really good for the Bugle!" the man said, continuing to take pictures of both Spidey and Black Cat.
The Bugle comment, however, caught Spidey's attention.
"The Bugle?" he repeated, making the man stop in taking his pictures.
"Yeah, I know you may not have the greatest relationship with the Bugle, but don't worry, I'll make you look good with my pictures."
Spidey was now confused as ever. "But they got a guy."
The man nodded, "Who? That Parker guy? I mean, he's okay, but in his pictures, I think he makes you look kinda chubby. I don't know, something might be wrong with his camera. But you don't have to worry about that anymore buddy!" he happily said. "Oh, just to let you know, I'm a huge fan of yours. Whatever the Bugle says about you, just know I have nothing to do with it." he grinned, putting his hand out for a handshake.
"My name's Brock, Edward Brock Jr. Though, I usually go by Eddie." he said, being all jittery since he was a Spider-Man fanboy.
Spider-Man, looking at Eddie's hand and being the ever so nice guy he is, took it and shook it.
Eddie looked at his hand, being in awe. "Man, you have a grip! Should've expected as much, given how strong you are." he told him, looking at Black Cat. "Also, are you and Black Cat a thing now orrrrrrrr…..?"
"And this is where the conversation ends. Nice talking with you, Eddie." Spidey quickly said, not wanting to answer the question on if he and Black Cat were together. They weren't, but it wasn't his business anyway.
Ending on that note, Spidey shot a web and started to swing away, Black Cat following his lead as they swung side by side.
Eddie took one last picture of Spidey and Black Cat swinging next to each other, pumping his fists.
"Man, I'm so gonna get paid!"
Fisk Towers
Spidey and Black Cat were now nearby Fisk Towers. Specifically, Spidey was sticking to Fisk Towers, stealthily looking through the windows as Black Cat covered the other side. It began to rain, as thunder and lightning now joined the night sky. "Cat, you're sure he's right here? All I see are regular people and some security guards."
"Trust me, he's here. He's upstairs, where his main room is." she said. "It's gonna be hard to take all of them out one by one with a stealthy approach, but I think we can do it."
Spidey nodded. "I don't think a stealthy approach is going to work this time. Besides, for this occasion… I think I'd rather make an entrance." he said seriously, Black Cat noticing his determination.
"You talk about me being different, but you're being different as well. It's not like you to charge right in without a solid plan." Black Cat pointed out.
"First time for everything," replied Spidey. Maybe he wasn't thinking straight. Maybe this savior of the universe stuff was really getting to him. Whatever it is, he clearly wasn't his usual self.
He would take one look at Black Cat. "Hey, after this is over, I want you to tell me what's been bothering you. Nobody should have to face their struggle alone, and I don't want to see you do it when you can count on me for help."
Deep down, Spidey's words meant a lot to Black Cat, but yet again, his words were making her feel like the worst person to ever exist. She couldn't even find the words to respond to him, but Spidey didn't seem to mind.
He would look for a response on this question, though.
"You ready?" Spidey asked.
Black Cat took another look inside Fisk Towers, closing her eyes and took a deep breath, getting prepared for the mental challenge she was about to face.
This sucks.
"Ready," Black Cat confirmed, giving a nod.
With the two of them teaming up, it was now time for action.
BGM: Avatar 2009 – War (Film Version)
Shooting a web, Spidey swung over to the balcony, which was the entrance to the room he was trying to get into. He saw a guard standing near the door, but this wouldn't stop him one bit. Once the guard saw Spidey was coming, it was already too late. The guard's face was met with a hard kick to the face, blood coming out his mouth as he was unconscious.
Picking up the body, Spidey threw it right through the entrance, catching the attention of another guard who was standing by. He gasped, but while he was paying attention to the body, that's when Spidey leapt and socked the guard in his jaw, knocking him into the wall.
The people inside Fisk Towers started to scream due to the commotion, pure insanity now ensuing. "It's Spider-Man!" One guard said, bringing out his gun and had a clear shot to shoot him.
That is, until Black Cat arrived.
Before the guard was able to shoot, Black Cat grabbed the guard's face and viciously slammed it onto a nearby table, the head crashing through it and there were now remains of blood staining the floor.
She looked at Spidey, seeing there was another guard getting ready to shoot. "Spider, on your left!"
Hearing Black Cat's warning, along with his own Spider Sense warning him, he saw the guard getting ready to shoot. Spidey would shoot out a web at the gun, yanking it out of the guard's hand and swung it around like he was in a rodeo.
"Hope you have health insurance!" Spidey yelled, throwing the gun right back at the guard's head, stunning him and almost knocked him out. Black Cat would come from behind and add the final blow, roundhouse kicking the guard to the floor.
"Nice!" Spidey said, complimenting Black Cat, but she didn't say a word. The two now began to run upstairs, where three guards were running towards them. One guard tried to get into a fist fight with Spidey, but that would prove to be a mistake since Spidey's superior agility was making him be able to dodge every punch that was thrown at him. Finding an opening, Spidey punched the guard right into his gut, and proceeded to elbow him in the face, blood spitting out of the guard's mouth.
Seeing how aggressive Spidey was fighting was unusual, and not gonna lie, it was starting to scare Black Cat. She would need to put those feelings aside, though, and focus on the battle at hand. Seeing another guard try to come for Spidey with a punch, Black Cat used her arm to stop the attack, effectively protecting him and herself. She would then grab the guard's arm, and it was at this moment the guard knew he was on the wrong side.
With the guard's eyes widening, Black Cat used her claws to scratch the guard's face, and it wasn't just one time either. It was a whole combo of scratches, the assault ending off with a grappling hook tying around the guard's neck, and sent him flying all the way downstairs as the people around this started to freak out even more.
The last guard was clearly outmatched, but he tried to go out swinging. Instead, though, Spidey and Black Cat just traded combo after combo when it came to hurting the guard. Black Cat scratched the right side of the guard's cheek, while Spidey came in and kicked the dude right in the chest, the air coming right out of his lungs, knocking him out.
More guards began to show up, but they wouldn't matter in the long run.
You know why?
The bigman would decide to reveal himself.
Kingpin, crashing through his main entrance with an AK-47 in his hand, had one goal and one goal only.
Kill Spider-Man.
"I have you right where I want you, Spider-Man!"
With no remorse whatsoever, Kingpin started shooting like an absolute madman. Thanks to Spidey's reflexes, along with Black Cat, they were able to avoid the gunshots.
Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for the guards, who died right on the spot due to Kingpin's shooting.
Never taking his eyes off his target, Kingpin was insanely laughing all the way through his gunshots. He would stop shooting for this particular moment, though. "Nice job bringing him here, Black Cat! I had my doubts, but you proved to be a worthy client!"
And there it was.
Spider-Man had to process what he just heard. Black Cat brought him here? Did she manipulate him?
No… No, she couldn't have. Well, she did bring him here, but Spidey was insistent on them teaming u-…
That's when it hit him. That's why Black Cat was acting so weird during their chase.
"Cat, what does he mean by you bringing me here?" he asked, his anger beginning to rise. "You knew about this the whole time?!"
Black Cat cursed herself over and over again, her face becoming saddened as emotions were running high for both of them. "I had to, Spider! You wouldn't understand!"
"Oh yeah, okay! Sure! How much did he pay you to do this, huh?! Or wait, let me guess, he offered you the biggest diamond he had if you set me up! Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it was both!"
There weren't any words to describe Spidey's anger. Pissed would be the understatement of the century.
"I trusted you, Cat!"
Key word, trusted.
Maybe it was Spidey's mistake for actually trusting Black Cat, a well-known thief who could never seem to make up her mind on which side she was on.
But the trusted part? Boy, that cut deep for Black Cat.
As Spidey and Black Cat began to yell at each other, Kingpin smiled in approval. "Ah, I've always had a soft spot for drama. Unfortunately, I'm going to have end this squabble a little early, because I still have some business to attend to."
Reaching into his pocket, Kingpin brought out a flash grenade, temporarily stunning Spider-Man as Kingpin began to shoot some more. Thanks to Spidey's spider senses, he was able to avoid the gunshots by jumping into the air.
After the flash from the flash grenade went away, there was one person missing.
Black Cat.
"Cat?" Spidey said, wondering where she went as he actually began to worry about her. "Cat?! Where are you?!"
"She left you, Spider-Man. Can't you see that for yourself?" Kingpin told him. "She completed her job, and she realized it was time to go. I don't blame her either. Smart girl."
"You can go to hell!" Spider-Man replied, being absolutely sick of everyone's crap, shooting a web and yanking Kingpin's gun out of his hand. Swinging from the ceiling, Spidey emitted a powerful, irate yell from his vocals as he kicked Kingpin right into his chest, sending the man flying into his office.
Automatically, Kingpin's automated defense systems came to his aid, shooting right at Spider-Man, but that would prove to be useless. Putting more strength into his webbing, Spidey would destroy all the turrets who opposed him, but this would give Kingpin enough time to just ram right into Spidey, the two crashing into room after room after room, leaving nothing but a trail of destruction.
Kingpin would then body slam Spidey to the floor, proceeding to try and slam his fists onto his gut.
Spidey dodged Kingpin's fists, but that wouldn't stop Kingpin from throwing Spidey's body into another wall, sending the superhero flying back into his office. Once again, Kingpin was charging right in, continuing his all-out assault.
But Spidey has had enough of being thrown around like some rag doll. Once Kingpin was close enough, Spidey would leap and kick Kingpin right into his mouth. Once he was fully back on his feet, he pulled his fist back and punched Kingpin's mouth again, the punch itself sounding like it was bone shattering.
Spidey holds back his punches a lot, but for someone as strong as Kingpin, especially when you consider how much he's been pissed off by him, holding back didn't seem like a possible option. "You wanna play rough? Then let's get rough!" Spidey shouted at him, uppercutting Kingpin right into his chin, sending the man's massive frame into the air and collided with his nearby fireplace.
Coughing up blood, the Kingpin's suit started to burn. He took it off of him and threw it to the wayside, gritting his teeth and clenched his fists as he was down.
"Get up, Fisk! You wanna hide behind all your murders?! You want to cause all of this pain to others?! Well, now it's time to pay the price!" Spidey angrily said, Kingpin soon getting back on his feet.
"I see you've done your research."
"More than just research," Spidey said. "I'm not going to let you finish Project M. You have no idea what damage you could cause to everyone if you go through with it."
Kingpin's eyes widened, but then a look of fire came into his eyes. "How do you know about that?!"
"Don't worry about it! Believe it or not, I'm trying to help you! Your family, your wife, your son, they can't be brought back!" Spidey said. "They're gone!"
"SHUT UP!" Kingpin yelled, the two charging at each other, both sending earth shattering punches to each other's faces, blood coming out from both of their mouths. The bottom of Spidey's mask was beginning to get torn up at this point, but this was the least of his concerns.
Spidey shot a web at Kingpin's face, blinding him for a few moments but it also gave him another opportunity to attack. "It's time to pay, Fisk!" He would grab Kingpin's body, using his super strength and began to slam his head into the wall over and over again.
Once Kingpin was sick of it, he used his back to push Spidey away, quickly turning around and delivered a herculean-like punch into Spidey's jaw, knocking him back.
But Spidey wouldn't rest on his laurels. With all the grunts, the pain, everything going on with both of their bodies, Spidey wouldn't let up. Spidey would get back up, shooting two webs around Kingpin's office, using the new momentum to charge right back at Kingpin and kick him in his teeth.
"You're wide open!" Kingpin managed to say, grabbing Spidey's leg and slammed him onto the ground.
If this were any regular man, Spidey would be stunned by this attack.
But there's a reason why he's called Spider-Man.
Shooting two more webs at the ceiling, Kingpin assumed Spidey missed him. "Your aim is horrible!"
"I wasn't aiming for you!" Spidey confirmed, Kingpin now looking up and seeing the webs stuck to the ceiling. It only took him a few seconds to realize what Spidey was trying to do.
Spidey was going to say this one thing before he pulled off this stunt.
"If I'm going down, then you're going down with me!"
With a mighty yell, Spidey effectively brought the whole ceiling down, the size of it catching both him and Kingpin. Each and every room was met with Spidey and Kingpin falling down through it, and it was a lot of rooms given the massive size of Fisk Towers. Spidey, now wanting to end this, web zipped over to Kingpin and started punching him repeatedly in the face, both of them screaming all the way through.
Their bodies and the old ceiling would crash onto the first floor, the impact being humongous as they created multiple cracks. It sounded like a freaking nuke had dropped when these two collided with the floor.
They both let out painful, tired groans, but one man would be able to get up from all this.
It was the dude who was bitten by a radioactive spider, who now had a fully torn up suit with the only thing somewhat staying in place being his mask.
Lifting the old ceiling off him and Kingpin, he started to walk closer to his body. "I'm not gonna ask you again, Fisk. End Project M now."
Kingpin started to cough up blood, but he was laughing all the way through. "This is your way of asking?"
"I'm not playing," Spidey told him, meaning every word. "If you continue with this project, multiple universes will be at stake. Ours will be destroyed, those universes will be destroyed… Don't you get it? Do you not want to exist anymore?"
Spidey wasn't done. "And even if you did agree, don't think I'm letting you off the hook. You're still going to face justice for everything you've done over the years."
Kingpin continued to laugh, spitting out some blood. "Heh heh heh… For everything I've done, eh? Every bad thing is connected to me, right?"
"That's what it seems like." Spidey told him.
"Well, if you think I'm the only 'bad' person in New York, you're sadly mistaken. In fact, you want to know who made Project M possible in the first place? Do you want to know the real crime lords of New York?!"
"What in God's name are you talking about?! You're the crime lord here!"
"Oh no, compared to the amount of deaths on their hands, I'm nothing." Kingpin began, still laughing. "You wanna save this city, right? Then you might as well learn the beginning, the main people responsible for the crime in this city."
Kingpin would take a long pause, a smirk forming on his face.
"The Parkers. They're responsible, they're behind all this."
What… What did he just say?
The Parkers could mean anybody, but all of a sudden, Spidey felt a rush come over him. He picked Kingpin up by the collar of his shirt, his grip never loosening. "What do you mean?! Who are the Parkers?!"
"Eager now, are we?" Kingpin replied, keeping his smirk. He coughed a little more, before he revealed the names.
"Richard, Mary, and Ben Parker. They're the biggest gangsters New York has ever seen. You want to blame somebody for Project M?! You want to blame somebody for all the deaths in this city?! BLAME THE-!"
Before Kingpin could even finish, without hesitation, Spidey slammed Kingpin onto the floor, wanting to kill him right here and now.
There's no way, absolutely no way.
He immediately pulled his fist back, getting ready to punch the daylights out of Kingpin, but then… the corner of his eye caught something.
When he looked to his left, he saw a picture. It most likely fell from Kingpin's office while he and Spidey were crashing down from floor to floor.
It was a picture of Richard, Mary, and Ben Parker all sitting together with Kingpin.
Spidey knew what Richard and Mary looked like due to him seeing old pictures of them, and… there was no denying it.
They were in the picture, right there.
If that wasn't enough, the most shocking thing was seeing Uncle Ben in the photo. There weren't any ands, ifs, or buts.
Uncle Ben, Ben freaking Parker, the man who Peter looked up to, the whole reason why he became Spider-Man in the first place… He was in this picture, his parents were in this picture, with the Kingpin.
Words couldn't describe how he was feeling right now.
He was speechless.
In mere moments, barging through the front door was the NYPD, Captain Stacy leading the way with his cops, along with a couple of other people Spidey noticed. Jefferson Davis, father of Peter's good friend Miles Morales, was here. Short black hair, similar features to Miles, in shape, he was one of the best cops in the NYPD.
Peter and Jefferson Davis had a great relationship.
But Spider-Man and Jefferson Davis don't.
Along with Jefferson Davis was Yuriko, AKA Yuri Watanabe. Short black hair, brown eyes, and one of the most experienced cops in the NYPD, she took her job very seriously.
However, compared to Jefferson Davis, Yuri and Spider-Man can actually talk with each other.
Though, they probably can't do that now.
"Hands up, Spider-Man!" Jefferson Davis said, pulling out his gun along with the rest of the NYPD.
Spider-Man, still being shocked from the revelation he received, remained silent. He didn't have any words to say. He couldn't even make himself say Kingpin was a criminal. He already knows how the NYPD is going to treat him for now on, along with the people of New York.
Since Spider-Man beat up the Kingpin for an apparent no good reason, one of the great heroes of New York, Spidey is going to be seen as a menace in everybody's eyes.
And not just a menace either.
Public enemy number one. No ifs, no ands, no buts, no middle ground, no nothing.
"I said hands up, Spider Man!" Jefferson Davis repeated, Yuri now coming in.
"Spider-Man, just listen to him!" Yuri pleaded, not wanting to use force to bring him down.
"Don't make us use force, Spider-Man!" Captain Stacy told him.
But Spidey wasn't going to listen to that crap.
Shooting a web to start swinging, he would try his best to escape unscathed. Well, if you don't count the painful battle he had with Kingpin. Adrenaline was helping him deal with his injuries, which were a lot more serious than what he perceives currently.
Bullets were being shot at him, but Spidey made it out bullet free this time, swinging away as he crashed through the glass and made it out of Fisk Towers.
BGM: Spider-Man: Web of Shadows/Beethoven – Moonlight Sonata
Unfortunately, he could only go for so long.
All that adrenaline he had started to wear off, and now, he was starting to feel the full effect, or the aftermath so to speak, of Kingpin's blows. Every bone in his body felt like hell, any type of movement he did, especially the swinging aspect, it was too much.
But this goes beyond just physical pain at this point. The mental stress he's endured, the news he received, Black Cat setting him up, everything that's happened tonight…
It may have very well broken him more than Fisk's punches ever could.
Not having the strength to continue swinging, Spidey's body just started to fall, his yell being loud as he braced for impact. In mere moments, he would crash into an alleyway, falling right onto his back, the pain now becoming even more evident.
Good thing he was Spider-Man, because any regular man would have died from that type of fall.
The rain was hitting his face, all of his emotions coming all at once.
Everything he was taught, everything he was fighting for, Uncle Ben's speech about with great power comes great responsibility, everything he knew…
Was it all a lie?
That's the question right there, and it's what hurts the most.
Was he fighting a pointless fight the entire time, a fight that was built on nothing but lies told to him?
His torn-up suit accurately resembled how he was feeling on the outside and the inside.
He slowly got up, having the strength to do one more thing.
Seeing a dumpster right beside him, and knowing his torn Spider-Man costume was still on him, he took it off and put it in the garbage.
Was he Spider-Man… no more?
He started to walk away off of pure willpower, but his legs couldn't take it. His body couldn't take it.
Peter eventually collapsed and lost consciousness in the alleyway, the rain continuing to pour onto his body.
The Next Day
It's been a long night.
Especially for a certain Black Cat, even though she was out of costume at this point. She was only Felicia Hardy.
She couldn't get any sleep last night. Not one second of it.
I mean, I guess her mother is safe, right? That counts for something?
But regardless, she still felt horrible.
She may have played with Spidey in the past, but this stunt… Woooo, it was hitting her hard.
Felicia rubbed her forehead. She wishes lightning could strike her right now and put her out of her misery.
However, while it won't be lightning, it'll be the vibration of her phone to really put a spin on things.
Bringing it out, she saw she got a text from the group chat she joined with Gwen, Miles, Peter, and Harry. The group chat would all get a single text from Gwen, and the text itself was chilling.
Gwen: Guys… Peter is in the hospital.
Reading that one single text made Felicia's heart drop. Her eyes looked frightened, horrified.
What a great way to start off her day.
Without hesitation, Felicia got up and ran out her room, knowing her friend needed her help.
It's the least she could do, really.
Hospital
Felicia was rushing to the hospital, trying to go as fast as she could after hearing Peter was in there. Once she finally made it, she asked the workers for a person named Peter Parker. They pointed her in the right direction, saying the room number.
"Room A15 is where your friend is."
Felicia gave a quick nod, saying, "Thank you," before running off to A15. She was all over the place, but she wasn't tired at all. Much like how Spider-Man felt last night after his battle with Kingpin, adrenaline can do a lot of things.
Seeing room A15 up ahead, Felicia stopped, looking through the glass and saw Gwen, Miles, Harry, and Aunt May being by Peter's side. Peter himself… didn't look too good. He looked like he got ran over by a truck, and he very well may have due to Kingpin's tremendous strength.
Not wanting to waste anymore time, Felicia opened the door, as Harry, Gwen, Miles, and Aunt May turned around to see her come in.
BGM: Kung Fu Panda - Oogway Ascends
Their faces were sorrowful, almost like their spirits were broken at the sight of Peter looking the way he did. It made Felicia not even want to ask this question in the first place, but somehow, someway… she managed to find the strength to say this.
"How… How is he?" Felicia managed to say, her question being met with silence. You could hear a pencil drop by how silent it became.
A few seconds afterwards, and Aunt May started to cry. She covered her face, while the rest of the gang didn't feel like Felicia needed an explanation.
But, she would at least get one response.
"I'm sure you can… connect the dots for yourself." Harry said, feeling sorrowful to see his best friend in the entire world go through this.
Felicia wasn't sure what to do or say. How do you even face a situation like this? The mood, Peter's condition, everything was terrible.
"I knew taking pictures of Spider-Man would be too dangerous for him!" Aunt May shouted, her tone being angry and sad all at the same time. She wasn't blaming Peter, but she was blaming herself for allowing this picture taking of the web-slinger to go on for far too long, much like how she blamed herself for not stopping Uncle Ben on that one faithful night. After the NYPD found Peter's unconscious body, they assumed he was in this state due to him trying to take pictures of Spider-Man. This hurts Spider-Man's reputation even more, given the fact he went on an absolute rampage at Fisk Towers last night.
This whole thing sucks.
Aunt May has already lost Uncle Ben, and she can't lose Peter too.
Hearing the mention of Spider-Man made Felicia put her head down, her whole body being filled with overwhelming guilt. Did… all of this happen because of her? Was she the cause for everything?
This is what started to go through her mind, but she was trying her best to put on a brave face.
And now, she needed to check up on Peter.
Walking slowly to his bed, each step she took felt like it carried weight. Everything felt like it was going in slow motion, but she had to keep pushing.
Once she got close enough to Peter's bed, she saw his eyes were closed. His condition up close didn't look any better either.
"The doctor said he doesn't even know how he's alive. When they brought him in, he said Peter had multiple broken bones." Gwen explained to Felicia, before she was going to make her attempt at speaking to Peter.
"It's a miracle, to put it simply." Miles added, Felicia hearing all of this and took a deep breath. She closed her eyes, getting flashbacks of her father being in this same state before he passed away. All of these memories were starting to hit her full force, and honestly, it's amazing she hasn't broken down yet either.
Trying her best to be strong, her hand went on top of Peter's hand. If there was anything left in him, any strength, any energy, she needed to talk to him.
Feeling someone's hand be on top of his, Peter's eyes started to flutter, his head turning and seeing Felicia. Surprisingly, after everything he's been through in the last 24 hours, he was able to smile.
Did he force it? Well, who cares at this point? The fact he's even attempting to smile is an accomplishment in its own right.
"Felicia… you're here…" Peter said weakly, still having his smile.
"Of course I'm here. What are friends for?" Felicia replied softly, mainly being happy to see he was still able to speak.
Peter gave a nod, before looking at the rest of his friends and family. For a moment, he forgot about what he's gone through. Spider-Man is probably now seen as a criminal, Black Cat playing a hand in this, the revelation of him not only finding out the truth about his parents, but about Uncle Ben, and now being in the hospital, this dude was going through it.
He was shortly reminded of those events by his own mind, and soon enough, his face turned somber. It was taking a lot for the man that often carried the weight of New York on his shoulders, and now multiple universes, to not break down and scream. To not break down and cry.
When he saw everyone here, though, when he saw his closest friends and his beloved Aunt May who's essentially been his mother, all of these people to check on him… It meant the world to Peter. Words couldn't describe how he felt, truly knowing these people really cared about him.
When you know someone cares about you in a world that doesn't offer you any favors, and can a lot of times feel like hell, especially in Peter's case, it honestly brings joy. Sure, Peter might not be able to fully express himself due to his condition, but to know that people care about you, especially in your darkest times, it's one of the greatest feelings in the world.
Peter wanted to thank them, but not in the usual way. He would try his best to talk to them, somewhat moving in his bed, but the look on his face showed he was still going through pain. Felicia noticed this immediately, telling him, "Easy, easy."
"I'm okay." Peter assured her, having enough strength to look at all of them. It took a minute for him to begin speaking, as he mostly wondered what he wanted to say. The words didn't come to him instantly, but eventually, he found them.
With a deep breath, closing his eyes as he was thinking, he would open them and begin to speak.
"I can't thank you guys enough for being here. I've been through so much lately, and I know I haven't been my usual self." Peter began, feeling like he was about to get choked up. His eyes stopped looking at the group, a bevy of emotions hitting him.
"You know, when something happens…" he paused, finding this tough to say. He was struggling with his words and his strength, obviously still not 100%. "When something happens to you…" he managed to say, his eyes going back to facing his friends, his family. "And then you find out who really your friends are, and the people who really care about you…"
As he was speaking, the heart rate on Peter's monitor began to get slower and slower. It didn't take long for the group to notice, their eyes widening out of fear.
Felicia turned back to Peter quickly, now holding his hand as her grip got stronger. "Peter…"
But he would continue to speak, his eyes getting watery.
"You figure all those moments, all the things we have to go through as people, but being there for each other as friends, and… this… this is the greatest moment for me, for you guys to check up on me, because it's hard to… find people… who care…"
Peter was growing weak.
And his heart rate was getting dangerously low, his eyes starting to close against his own will.
"Peter?" Felicia managed to say, refusing to believe what was currently happening. She felt like Peter's hand was growing cold, limp even. "Peter! Peter, stay with me!" she started to shout, as Harry, Gwen, Aunt May, and Miles were stunned just as much as Felicia was.
Then, their worst fear came true.
The monitor showed that Peter's heart had completely stopped beating, Aunt May now bursting into tears. Gwen couldn't make herself watch this anymore, her head turning away as tears streamed down her face. Harry and Miles began to shout Peter's name, refusing to believe their friend was gone.
Felicia was doing the same, and she wasn't even friends with Peter for as long as the rest of them have been, but when she was freaking out over this, it showed the type of impact Peter made, and had on her.
"PETER!" Felicia shouted, but her words were falling on deaf ears. She began to cry as well, now yelling to any doctor that was in the vicinity. "HELP HIM! FOR GOD'S SAKE, HELP HIM!"
She was going through this again. There was no way she was going through this again. She was done with losing people she cared about after she lost her father, but yet, here we are.
It wouldn't take too much longer for a doctor to arrive, and this is when the real surprise would happen.
"Oh geez, this thing is busted again?!"
That voice.
That voice sounded way too familiar.
When Felicia, Harry, Gwen, Aunt May, and Miles looked to see who this doctor was, their jaws dropped.
Well, Felicia's, Harry's, Gwen's, and Miles' jaw dropped, to be more specific.
"PRINCIPAL LEE?!" they all shouted in unison, shocked not even being the word to describe them right now.
"You got that right kids! Your principal is not only the principal and janitor of his school, but he's also a doctor!" Principal, or in this case, Doctor Lee said.
"But just… How?! How are you a doctor?!" Miles yelled, with Doctor Lee laughing at all the reactions he was getting.
"How? I'm Stan Lee for crying out loud! The question shouldn't be what can I do! The question should be what can't I do?!" Dr. Lee said, basically saying he could be anything in the world, while also teaching a lesson to the young kids they could be anything they wanted to be as well.
Going over to the monitor, he gave it a hard elbow and the thing came back online, showing Peter's heartbeat to be perfectly normal.
Checking up on Peter for himself, he got closer to him and nodded. "No need to worry, folks! False alarm! He just fell asleep!" He then looked back at the monitor, holding his chin. "Though we really should get that thing fixed, or probably replace it. That's the fifth time this week that thing shut down." Doctor Lee said casually, now walking out of the room like absolutely nothing happened.
This left the group… stunned.
Just stunned.
They all went through a rollercoaster of emotions, and while they were relieved to know Peter was alive, all of this was just so sudden, things immediately happening after each other which left their minds in overdrive mode.
Rubbing her forehead, Aunt May would say this after being stressed out to the max.
"I need a drink."
Harry would agree with her.
"If we were legal, we would join you, Aunt May."
