Spider-Man: Fire and Desire

Author's Note: Happy Valentine's Day everyone! And with Valentine's Day comes a Valentine's Day chapter! Bet you guys weren't expecting this! Lol, on a serious note, it's been a bit since this has been updated. Blame life/college for that. And sorry I couldn't make a New Years special. In all honesty, I had no idea what to do, plus I was busy with the family during that time. It's honestly a miracle I came out with the Christmas chapter on Christmas day, and I tried to do the same for New Years, but you know… once again, life.

Anyway, this is set months before the main story, where Peter and the gang are still in junior year. I know, I know, you guys want to get back to the main story, but we'll get there, I promise. I've been working on the chapter for the main story for the past few weeks, and I'm currently working on it as I'm typing this, haha. The power of multitasking! Just as a heads up, this chapter won't be that long, much like the Christmas chapter. It might even be shorter, we'll see. It will also carry the light hearted tone from the Christmas chapter, because believe me, this will be NEEDED for the amount of drama that's going to be in the main story chapter. Holyyyyy moly. I don't wanna hype it up too much, but HOOOOO BOY.

HaywireEagle: I hope you did watch Home Alone 2 again, along with Home Alone 1, haha.

Akira-Hayama: That was indeed Home Alone 2 at the start, lol. Thank you for your kind words. It was definitely a crack chapter, especially with Kevin being in it, but I'm glad you thought it was done well.

Chapter 8: Happy Valentine's Day, Spider

Sitting on a New York rooftop while watching the night sky was no one other than Spider-Man himself. Depending on who you ask, he was either a masked menace, or your friendly neighborhood superhero.

It's been a decent amount of months since Peter Parker first got bit by the radioactive spider and became Spider-Man. In typical Parker fashion, he's had a lot of bumps in the road, but he always finds a way to get back up.

And hey, it's worth it if he's saving multiple lives in the process.

Though, with all the agility and strength Spider-Man has, which is greatly appreciated, those things aren't always able to solve his problems. Yeah, we all know he never has enough money for anything, but one of the other consistent problems he has… Well, it's girl problems.

Is it silly? Is it stupid for him to want luck when it comes to getting girls? Why should he even care? He's a freaking superhero for crying out loud!

But… just because he's a superhero, doesn't mean he shouldn't want companionship, right?

Right?

Unfortunately, this whole companionship thing was on his mind since it was Valentine's Day, a day of love where couples look all cute and stuff. You know, romantic things.

Spidey looked down at the citizens of New York, most of them being couples as they were enjoying their time together on this lovey dovey day.

And here he was… alone.

Pain.

Spidey let out a loud groan, gently falling on his back as he looked up at the New York night sky. "Yep, this is depressing…" he confirmed to himself, but also felt like he was being stupid. "The great Spider-Man is able to save countless lives, but when it comes to Peter Parker looking for romance, I'd have a better chance at convincing JJ that Spidey isn't a menace."

He sulked for a few more moments, until he heard his phone start to ring. Bringing it out, he saw he was getting a call from Harry. Deciding to answer it, he said, "Hello?"

"Hey, Pete! Where are you man? You didn't forget about hanging out at the arcade with me and Miles, right?"

Peter's eyes widened, indeed forgetting that he, Harry, and Miles did have a thing planned for Valentine's Day. Good grief, some friend he is.

"Oh crap!" Peter thought to himself. "Nah, I didn't forget!" he said, trying to play it cool but was probably failing miserably. "Don't worry, I'll be right there."

"I hope so." Harry told him. "Though, judging by your surprised reaction… I'd think you were hiding something from me." Harry accused, now becoming a bit suspicious. "Do you have a secret girlfriend or something? What happened to bros before-"

"Harry!" Peter cut him off. "I don't have a secret girlfriend, okay?"

"You sure?" Harry asked. "I mean, Gwen likes you, so it's not outrageous to think you and her are-"

Peter sighed loudly, making Harry stop his sentence. "Gwen and I are just friends. We've been friends ever since we were kids. She doesn't like me like that."

Harry laughed a little bit. "Oh, you poor, poor soul. You're blind, Pete. You're so blind. No wonder you don't have a girlfriend."

"You don't have one either!" Peter retorted.

"Because they'd rather go after my father's wealth instead of actually getting to know me." Harry said, rolling his eyes on the other end. "Anyway, you'll be here, right?"

Peter shook his head, replying, "Yeah, yeah, sure. I'll be there in five minutes."

"I'm not sure how you'll get here in five minutes, but hey, it's good to see you challenging yourself!" Harry replied in a positive, sarcastic tone, as Peter smirked.

"Trust me, I have my ways in getting there. See ya when I get there."

"Alright."

And with that, Peter and Harry ended their call.

"Well, might as well get going-"

"Don't tell me Spider-Man is all by himself on Valentine's Day?"

BGM: Al B. Sure! – Nite and Day

Spider-Man stopped dead in his tracks, knowing that voice all too well. "Oh God…" he muttered, already dreading this. It was no one other than the beautiful Black Cat. "Couldn't I say the same for you?" Spidey countered.

Black Cat shrugged. "Perhaps, but I'm not the one looking depressed as I look up at the New York night sky." She pointed out, making Spidey sigh. "I always know when my Spider isn't feeling that great, so I decided to check up on you."

"Oh goodie." Spidey comically said. "Black Cat knows I feel depressed on Valentine's Day." he pointed out, honestly being embarrassed by this fact.

"No need to be embarrassed about it." Black Cat assured him, showing a smirk. "Beyond me wanting to check up on you, though, I actually wanted to see you in general."

Now Spidey was starting to get suspicious.

"You want me to chase you again? Is that what this is about?" he guessed.

Black Cat slightly laughed at Spidey's accusation. "No, you idiot. While I do enjoy our game of cat and spider, that's not what I'm here for."

Spidey was now unsure what to think.

"Oh… Okay then. But if it's not about that, then what is it?"

Black Cat rolled her eyes, but she did do it with a slight smile. "Gee, well let's see. It is Valentine's Day." she began, playfully tapping her chin as she was explaining herself. "And even though we're not a couple, I did get you something."

Now Spidey was shocked. Did Black Cat just say she got him something for Valentine's Day?

"Wait, you got me a Valentine's Day gift?" Spidey repeated, still not believing it as he stood up.

"Come on, it's not that hard to believe." Black Cat said with a laugh, coming closer to Spidey. Putting her hand out, it was seen that she was holding something. "I got you a card."

Spidey looked at Black Cat up and down, his mind quickly going to the first thing on his mind. "Did you steal this card?"

"Why would that matter?"

"Cat!"

"Can you just read the card?" Black Cat told him, as Spidey begrudgingly took the card from her hand. Once he got a better look at it, it was quite fancy looking.

"Yep, she definitely stole this." Spidey thought, but for this moment, he guesses he would forget about it… for now, anyway.

"I had to make some edits to the card, so I hope you like it." Black Cat told him, as Spidey took another look at her before looking back at the card, opening it as he began to read it.

My Dearest Spider,

We may not always see eye to eye. As a matter of fact, I expect you to have a problem with me stealing this card, but I could care less about that. What I do care about, however, is you. Ever since you came onto the scene, you've given me a whole lot of fun. Whether you're chasing after me for robbing a jewelry store, or the times we partner up when our goals align, I can honestly say I have no idea what my life would be without you. Probably less exciting. But beyond that, though, I'm glad I can call you my friend. Throughout your constant attempts to get me to stop being a cat burglar, it lets me know you care, too. So… Thanks.

Happy Valentine's Day, Spider.

As Spidey read this, and finished reading it, he actually felt… good? Warm inside? Oh Lord, what the heck was he feeling?

At first, he didn't know what to say. Aunt May and Uncle Ben were the main ones to give Peter a Valentine's Day card, but since Uncle Ben was gone… it was just him and Aunt May now.

Whether or not Black Cat intended for it to be this way, this simple act of kindness was hitting him hard, especially after all he's gone through in the past year. To know there's somebody out there in the world that actually cares about you, and thought about you while getting a gift, as simple as it may have been, meant the world to Spidey.

It meant the world to Peter.

Trying to figure out what to say, he scratched the back of his head. "Well uh… Now I feel like crap for not getting you a gift."

"Don't worry about it," Black Cat assured him, showing a slight smile.

Spidey, now finding the words to say, said this. "Thanks, Cat. I appreciate this way more than you could ever know." he said, smiling under his mask. "Still feel like crap for not getting you a gift, though."

Black Cat smirked. "If you feel that bad, there is a way you can repay me." she implied in a suggestive tone, and in mere moments, Spidey's eyes widened as he connected the dots for himself.

"I… feel like I know what you're talking about, but yet I'm not completely sure, so I'm confused. Are you giving me consent?"

"Not that, you fool." Black Cat laughed. "Although, I would enjoy that, but I'd prefer you to shut up in this moment." she said, taking the lead as she lifted up Spider-Man's mask to where she could only see his mouth.

In mere moments, their lips met in a soft, cute kiss that slowly became more passionate as time went on. As Spidey and Black Cat were kissing each other, Spidey's phone started to ring again, once more getting a call from Harry.

However, it was now unsure if Spidey, or Peter in this case, would be able to make it to the arcade. I mean, he might make it.

Or he could be doing other things.

What are those other things, you may ask?

Guess we'll never know!

Miles: Okay, are we done with the lighthearted chapters? If we are… I'm kinda sad, even though I didn't even appear in this chapter.

Harry: You had your spotlight in the last one, bud.

Gwen: And I didn't appear in any of these chapters!

Flash: I feel your pain.

Author's Note: There you go guys, one more lighthearted chapter before we get back into the mess. Hope you guys enjoyed it. The next chapter is going to come out next month, so keep that in mind. Before I go, though, I want to ask you guys a couple of questions. One, when you guys read Peter's lines, what voice do you think of/hear in my story? Tobey? Yuri Lowenthal? Josh Keaton? Christopher Daniel Barnes? I'm asking for curiosity's sake, and… other reasons. Classified reasons.

Also, I will bring this up now. This is a CRAZY thing, but in the main story, you guys know I take a lot of inspiration from Spider-Verse. I'm putting this out there since it isn't really a spoiler, everybody knows other Spider-Men from different universes will eventually show up. What I won't tell you guys is exactly which Spider-Men will show up. That decision is already mostly set for story purposes, but you guys can still leave requests on the Spider-Men you guys want to see in this story.

But there's also another thing… why limit ourselves to just Spider-Men? This is where the crazy part comes in, but I want to know how you guys feel about this. How would you guys feel if superheroes, or just other beloved characters from other series show up for just mass insanity? Like, I'm talking BEYOND Marvel at this point. Is it a good idea? Is it crazy? I'm really curious to see what you guys think. Maybe college is making me lose my mind to the point where I actually think this is a good idea, I don't know, lol.
