Spider-Man: Fire and Desire
Author's Note: Happy Felicia Friday, everyone! WOOOOO! *Ric Flair Voice* Imma reply to some reviews first, and then we can get straight into the story.
SpiderCatForever: Thank you! Yeah, Gwen and Miles will definitely deal with some stuff after being bitten by their spiders. As for Spidey riding solo for a good while, I completely understand where people are coming from. Does this necessarily mean a team-up is imminent? Hmmmm, well, I guess you're gonna have to keep reading to find out!
Leviathan117: Thanks! I'm glad you were able to notice the references, especially the spiders having the numbers of Gwen's and Miles' universes. I always love to put little references in there to see if people can catch it. As for MJ being here, I know where you're coming from, haha. Even though this is a Peter/Felicia fanfic, much like how I explained in my last author's note in the previous chapter, I have no idea if a love triangle of any kind is gonna happen in this story yet.
UI Ghosty: Thank ya! I know there's a concern with me setting too much stuff at once, and to be honest, I can see where the concern comes from since there is a lot of stuff I'm setting up. But trust me on this one, I can do this. (Famous Last Words, lol) As for the Superior Spider-Man, he is in Peter's body, not in a proto clone. Then as for Jessica, she comes from another universe. Although… that's not saying that there's not a Jessica in my universe. *Dramatic Music Plays* And what happened to Daredevil? Stay tuned!
ElburR0: YOU'RE BREATHTAKING! Haha. MJ will definitely be a major character in this story once she gets more established. Now, as for who she'll be dating, and as for the possibility of a love triangle happening depending on who she dates… Like I said before, I currently have no idea what's going to happen with that, lol. The Spider-Men you've mentioned that you wanted to see, hey, I'm just gonna say stay tuned. I'm also glad the Cyberpunk Keanu Reeves reference made your day!
josereyes121367: All of the kids coming together making a Spider Family like the Bat Family in Batman… Well, if that ever happens, it would certainly be entertaining. Also, I'm glad you're excited for Superior Spider-Man showing up. I share your excitement, because this dude is gonna cause some mayhem. Whether or not its for better or worse, that remains to be seen, lol. Noir and Superior will get their interaction too, trust me. And just to confirm to not just you but all of my readers, you can most certainly continue to request the Spider-Men you guys would like to see in this story. I can't confirm nor deny if PS4 Spidey (or PS4 Black Cat, for that matter) will show up. I guess that means more reading for you guys! *Troll Face* XD
Joe: Haha, thanks! The universe is definitely in peril, that's for sure. And don't worry, your update is here!
Spidey-Boy21: LOL. My apologies, but I laughed at your reaction to Miles and Gwen getting their powers. But just to clarify, I completely understand why you would want Spidey to be the solo Spidey of his universe, since he should be the main hero. Completely understandable. However, you're also assuming that Peter will automatically take the mentor role when it comes to Gwen and Miles… Will it happen that way? Who knows!? I do! Will I tell? Nope! XD
Alright, seems like that's all the reviews. Let's get started!

Chapter 11: Big Change Part 3
EARTH-616
A person could be seen perched at the top of the Empire State building, looking over New York as the dark skyline was covering every area. This person's appearance resembled that of Spider-Man while in costume, signaling that this was indeed another Spider-Man.
But out of the seemingly endless Spider-Men there are in all these universes, the question has to be asked… which Spider-Man was this?
This Spider-Man had the typical red and blue suit combination, but with some decent differences to give him his own look. He had an all-red bodysuit on, along with a blue sleeveless hoodie that had his own black Spider symbol on the front and back. He also had a silver utility belt and visible web shooters on his wrists.
Oh, and he didn't really go by Spider-Man either.
Call him the Scarlet Spider.
Scarlet Spider was clearly deep in thought, until his thoughts got interrupted by a quick flash of light, which slightly caught him off guard just like what the rest of the Spider-Men went through. When the light went away, Madame Web was casually floating in her seat right in front of him.
"Mr. Reilly! It's been far too long." she exclaimed, smiling at him.
The Scarlet Spider's actual, full name was Benjamin Reilly.
But he mainly goes by Ben Reilly for short.
Once Ben was able to tell it was Madame Web who was bothering him, he shook his head in an annoyed manner. "Whatever you have planned, I'm not interested. Been there, done that." he told her seriously, clearly not being in the mood.
"But Mr. Reilly, you don't even know what I was going to say." she casually replied, keeping her smile.
"Don't know, don't care." Ben stated. "If this is about Peter, I'm not interested." Clearly, by the tone of his voice on that last part, he had his issues with Peter. Ben feels like he has helped him out many times in the past, but their relationship remains kinda rocky due to a bunch of clone nonsense. Bad taste in his mouth, pretty much.
"Well, I can't say it isn't about Peter, but I can also turn around and say it's about you too." Madame Web explained, raising her index finger. "In fact, it's about all of the other Spider-Men from the different universes."
Ben listened to Madame Web, being silent for a moment. He really, really didn't want to respond to her comment, but the fact she said it was about him and the other Spider-Men…
Welp, guess you could say he couldn't help himself.
"Do I even want to know where you're going with this?" Ben questioned, which in his own little way, he basically said 'spit it out already.'
Madame Web shrugged. "Oh, you know, nothing too serious. Just all of the universes collapsing at once and everybody ceasing to exist. No big deal." she told him, proceeding to stare at Ben like what she said really wasn't a big deal. Obviously, she knew it was a big deal, but this is simply the way she did things.
Ben stayed silent for a long time, trying to process what he just heard. His blank stare through his red mask was almost comedic, in a way. You would think after dealing with this madwoman multiple times, he would be used to her antics.
Apparently not.
Finally, Ben would say these two words.
"Excuse me?"
BACK TO THE MAIN UNIVERSE
Times Square
Peter and Felicia were back at the café, and hopefully, no Spider-Slayer will show up to interrupt them this time. Peter was busy tutoring Felicia on all things science.
Well, he was supposed to be tutoring her on all things science, but instead, his mind was somewhere else entirely. His mind kept on going back to the night where he faced Kingpin, which is pretty much the night where everything changed for the worst.
Not only that, but he was also thinking about his decision to quit being Spider-Man.
Was it a mistake?
Is he always destined to be Spider-Man and Peter Parker?
The values of Spider-Man were built on the words Uncle Ben told him, the ever so famous words of, "with great power, comes great responsibility." Though, after hearing what Uncle Ben really was, along with his own parents, how could he take those words seriously anymore?
How could he listen to a man that didn't even practice what he preached?
And you wanna know what also didn't help?
It was almost the 1-year anniversary of Uncle Ben's death.
His thoughts would be interrupted by Felicia snapping, saying, "Am I actually going to have a science tutor today, or did you come out here to daydream?" she pointed out, and by the way she sounded, this wasn't the first time she's snapped Peter out of it today.
Peter shook his head quickly, not wanting to give Felicia the impression something was wrong with him, but he was failing miserably. "Sorry, sorry." he quickly apologized, grabbing his note cards. He was about to read one of the questions, until Felicia stopped him from doing so.
"Peter," she began, having a concerned look on her face. Peter would awkwardly stop looking at his note cards to look at Felicia, causing her to sigh heavily. "Are you okay?" she asked.
Peter smiled, still trying to play it off. "Never better! I mainly remembered that after we're done with tutoring, I gotta head over to Harry's place and tutor him too. Kinda promised him I would." he explained. I mean, sure, Peter did have to tutor Harry later today.
But that's not what he was thinking about at all.
Felicia could only stare at Peter due to his explanation. By her face, she clearly didn't believe what he was saying, but then she would shrug. "Well… Okay then." she told him, deciding to play the waiting game. She felt like it wouldn't be too much longer before Peter broke down, because it literally looked like she was staring into his soul for a few good moments.
For Peter, this was becoming more uncomfortable than what it already was.
Peter groaned, putting the note cards back on the table, looking away from Felicia. On any other occasion, he wouldn't mind a pretty girl staring at him. But now?
Now isn't a good time.
And because of this, Peter would eventually break down. He still wouldn't face Felicia, but at least he started to speak. "Felicia…" Peter began, trying to think about how he wanted to word this. "Do you ever doubt the decisions you make? Like, you're not sure if you're making the right decision?" he clarified, his head now turning to Felicia to see her reaction.
Her eyes slightly widened at the question, as silence would happen between the two. This showed that Felicia was thinking about the question, wondering how to reply to it. She already knew her answer, because quite frankly, the answer was obvious. "All the time." Felicia managed to say. "Though, you could say everyone goes through that."
"True," Peter replied, letting out a small sigh. Why was he even bringing this up to her in the first place? They're supposed to be talking about science, but instead they're on the verge of having a therapy session.
Peter's palm softly met with his face, showing his frustration. "I'm sorry. I just have a lot on my mind." he told her, making Felicia frown. "At this rate, Flash would prove to be a better tutor than I am."
"I wouldn't go that far," Felicia responded, her tone taking on more of a soft one. "Is there anything you wanna talk about?"
In all honesty, Felicia's strong persistence in trying to help Peter made him slightly smile, but that smile would go away once his depressing thoughts came back into his mind. He was clearly struggling with this, but he also knew Felicia wouldn't leave him alone either.
"Well, the things I'd probably talk about, you'd already know about them since you've been there for most of the events." explained Peter. "Whether it's about the hospital, me almost dying, me crying over the death of my Uncle Ben… You've been there for all of it." he said, his voice becoming somber. "And you've not only been there, but you were there for me. You were there for me every step of the way, always offering your support."
Peter forced his face to put on a smile. He wasn't lying when he was saying this, but he had to put up a smile to let Felicia know everything was going to be alright. "I guess what I'm really trying to say is… thank you. I appreciate all the help you've given me throughout this time, because I know how rare it is to find good people like you."
Felicia listened to Peter's words, and while she would remain neutral on the outside, she was truly touched by what he said on the inside.
But… was it all true? Felicia has been there for him. Though, that's not what she was debating.
She was debating if she was truly a good person like Peter says she is.
"Thanks," Felicia finally replied, still trying to keep it cool. However, her face showed the slightest hints of doubt, as now she would say, "I don't know if you can call me a good person, though."
Peter raised an eyebrow, clearly being confused. "Why wouldn't I call you a good person?" he replied, his confusion still being very much evident. "Constantly being there for me during some of my worst times? Sounds like a good person to me." he repeated. Although, Felicia could only nod in disagreement.
After all the stuff she's pulled as Black Cat, after all the stuff she's done to Spider-Man, especially in the whole situation with Kingpin, she was still feeling an unfathomable amount of guilt.
Felicia felt like she didn't deserve the 'good person' title Peter was giving her.
"You know, I really don't get told that I'm a good person that often, if ever." Felicia explained, bringing her Black Cat persona into this without actually saying it, because ya know, secret identity reasons. She would then smile, saying, "Even if I feel like I don't deserve it, it is nice of you think of me in that way. I'm definitely no Spider-Man when it comes to being good, that's for sure."
Well, at least she was able to acknowledge it was a nice change of pace.
And she even found a way to bring up Spider-Man, which made Peter have a blank stare.
Spider-Man.
Spider-Man.
Peter couldn't get Spider-Man's mess out of his head, no matter what he did, and no matter how hard he tried.
"Speaking of Spider-Man…" Felicia continued, saying, "People haven't really seen him lately."
Oh boy, here we go.
Peter would act casual about this whole thing, replying, "Yeah, I guess it is kinda weird not seeing him swing through the city."
Peter wishes this could be dropped, but Felicia wouldn't drop it so quickly.
"You do take his pictures." Felicia reminded.
"I mean, sure?" Peter replied, shrugging.
"Sooooo… Would you happen to know where he is, or what happened to him?" Felicia asked, awaiting Peter's answer to this.
Peter was thinking very carefully on what he should say here, not wanting to give off any hints, because it was obvious Felicia was curious.
But then he thought about it… why would he have to lie?
He can still keep his secret identity intact regardless.
"He… Uh…" Peter paused, wondering if he should just spit out. "Quit."
Huh, guess he would tell the truth after all.
"Why?" Felicia questioned.
I mean, she obviously knew why Spider-Man quit, but once again, she wanted to hear it from Spider-Man's photographer.
Peter casually shrugged, replying, "Wanted to try other things."
Felicia was still looking at Peter, as all of these questions were leading up to the main thing she wanted to ask.
"He'll be back, right?"
Felicia's question caused Peter to go silent for a couple of moments, because he was legitimately thinking about if Spider-Man will ever actually return.
There was a never-ending debate going on in his head.
Did he make the right decision to quit being Spider-Man?
Did he make the right decision to only focus being Peter Parker?
Peter's face carried uncertainty, as even he wasn't able to confirm or deny this. He shook his head, taking these moments to figure out what he wanted to say.
Once again, he would tell the truth.
"I don't know."
And then everything became quiet between Peter and Felicia with that answer.
One thing is for sure, this certainly wasn't a science tutoring session anymore.
Not like it ever was to begin with.

BGM: Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse – Sunflower by Post Malone, Swae Lee
Ah yes, this day was another normal day for Miles Morales. To be honest, he was a little scared after that spider bit him at Oscorp, because he could've sworn his entire body felt weird for some extended moments.
But hey, today was a new day, and thankfully, he felt fine.
"Alright, history. Do your worst." Miles said, being determined since he had a history paper to write. Going over to his computer, he started typing like a regular person.
As time passed, his typing speed increased, along with his force. He already knew the topic he wanted to talk about, and now the ideas were all coming together. Nothing could stop his rapid typing!
Until, well…
Until the keys from his keyboard literally started to stick to his fingers.
Miles slowly but surely looked at both of his hands, seeing the keys stick to his fingers. At first, he wasn't sure what to think, as he tried to come up with the best possible conclusion for this.
"Knew I should've gotten a new keyboard awhile back." he told himself, thinking that was the problem here, but he couldn't be more off the mark.
When he tried to get the keys off his fingers by simply shaking his hands, that wasn't working at all.
"What the?" he muttered, continuing to shake his hands.
He would shake them.
Shake them again.
Shake them some more.
And absolutely nothing would happen. The keys were still sticking to his fingers.
"Why can't I get these keys off my freakin' fingers?!" Miles exclaimed, because at this point, this whole thing was driving him crazy. "Why is this happening?!"
He would try to remove the keys off by force this time, using his hands to try and knock them off. However, he was doing it so aggressively that it turned into a comedic sight. "STOP STICKING!" While he eventually got the keys off his fingers by using nothing but pure force, that same force pushed his body back, making him fly wildly into his chair, not being able to control his own momentum.
And really, his own momentum might be the death of him, because his chair was rolling rapidly near his open window, and this made Miles freak out even more. "NO, NO, NO! PLEASE! I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE!"
But it was too late.
His body flew out the window, doing unintentional flips in the process. He surely thought this was the end for him.
Until it wasn't.
Whether it was pure luck or something else, Miles was now finding himself sticking to the wall of his home with his feet. While he would love to celebrate the fact he gets to live another day, he also wants to make it back to his room to process everything that's happened to him.
"KEEP STICKING, MILES!" he shouted at himself, refusing to look down because if he did, he very well might have a heart attack. Continuing to freak out all the way through his pretty hardcore origin story, Miles successfully guided his body back to his room. "My room!"
He didn't have the most graceful entrance back into it, though, as he would immediately fall to the floor, landing straight on his back which left him breathing heavily.
Once again, he would ask himself this question.
"Why is this happening?"
Then, he would hear a knock on his door, as the person knocking it would be no one other than his father Jefferson Davis.
"Miles! Everything okay in there?" Jeff asked, wondering what was causing all that noise in Miles' room.
Oh God, now Miles had to come up with something quick.
"I'm good, Dad! Just looking for my history book!" he quickly said, praying that Jeff didn't enter his room.
Jeff stood there, clearly wondering if he should go inside Miles' room because that didn't just sound like a person looking for their history book. Nonetheless, he would let it go, choosing to believe his son. "Alright, but could you at least be a bit quieter?"
"Not a problem!" Miles responded, making Jeff sigh. He would eventually leave Miles alone.
Though, this also meant Miles had to process what happened to him.
This would take a lot, and I mean a lot of processing.
Gwen's House
Let's see what was going on with Gwen Stacy, shall we?
Much like her friends Peter and Miles, she was a science nerd herself. However, she wasn't just a nerd. Much like an actual regular person, she did enjoy doing other things.
And do you wanna know what she was enjoying right now?
Playing the drums.
Gwen was usually seen as the glue of the group, keeping everyone together while also having a level head. Heck, her calm nature was extremely needed when you're talking about dealing with Peter, Miles, and Harry.
Though, she was different when she played the drums. She felt… free. Free to do whatever the heck she wanted, like a rebel spirit was deep inside her. It was usually held back, but this rebel energy she had would always be on full display when she started playing the drums.
During these moments, Gwen truly felt like a Rockstar.
She would do this for a long time, and eventually, she figured it would be time to take a break. "Phew!" Gwen exclaimed, taking a deep breath. "Time to take a break," she told herself, looking at her drumsticks and smiled. She would then proceed to put them down.
Well… she thought she would be able to put them down.
But instead, they ended up sticking to her hands.
Much like how Miles was doing, Gwen was starting to shake her hands to hopefully get the drumsticks off. However, her efforts would prove to be futile. "What in the world?" Gwen said, being baffled by this development. She wouldn't have a complete mental breakdown like Miles did, but it was clear that not being able to get the drumsticks off her hands was starting to bother her.
"Okay, I have no idea what's happening, nor do I know why this is happening." she said, speaking at a rapid pace.
Then she would hear some footsteps come closer to her door, as it would be no one other than her father George Stacy. "Hey, Gwen! Honey, do you want coco? Howard's makin' some coco!"
Oh BROTHER.
Gwen tried to figure out what to say since everything was happening so fast for her. Usually, she would like to have coco, but not right now. "No, Dad! I do not want coco! Honestly, I'm 17 years old!"
George at first didn't know how to take this, slowly saying, "Okay… I just thought I remembered somebody saying last week that her fantasy was to live in a chocolate house." he pointed out, making Gwen groan at the response.
"Well, that's impractical! And fattening!" Gwen exclaimed, wishing her dad would just leave her alone, but that wouldn't be the case since she could still tell he was standing right by her door. She sighed heavily, calming herself down and added, "Sorry, Dad."
"It's good." George replied, now not being sure what to think.
"I just-I can't, um…" Gwen wasn't sure where she was going with this, but hey, there's no turning back now. She gulped, before saying, "I can't have coco right now because I'm working-I'm…"
Oh dear God, she was all over the place.
"I'm doing this, um, I have the… I have cramps." Gwen dramatically said, as now George was beginning to slowly nod his head at the revelation.
"Oh." George managed to say, now being completely awkward since he wasn't sure how to reply to that.
"I feel kinda puky and just sorta- I don't know, emotional, like I keep crying, it's brutal." Gwen added, hoping all of this madness would finally make George leave.
"Okay, good, good." George said, not being sure why he said good at all of this news, but once again, it was showing how awkward it was for him to deal with. "I got it." That was the best he could come up with, basically saying he understands, and he'll leave her alone.
"Thanks, Daddy!" Gwen exclaimed.
"Alright." George replied, now rubbing the back of his head as he began to walk away from Gwen's room. Once Gwen had full confirmation that George had left, she slumped against her wall, having a sigh of relief.
Only for the moment, though.
Her eyes would go right back to her hands, still not being sure what to think.
Aunt May's House
Peter would sit on his bed, still being in a constant train of thought. He hated that he felt like this. He quit being Spider-Man because he wanted to. He was sick of the backlash, sick of the betrayals, sick of people putting values in his head that they couldn't even live by, he was sick of everything.
He looked out the window, staring outside for a long time.
Peter Parker was a confused man, and it would show in these words.
"Am I not supposed to have what I want? What I need?" Peter asked himself, hints of frustration and sadness being in his voice.
"What am I supposed to do?"
In that moment, Peter's mind felt like it was being attacked, as voices were now coming into his head, now feeling like he had the worst headache in history. He held his head in pain, gritting his teeth through it all.
Then it's like these voices turned into visions, or… more like the voices went along with these visions. However, they were so hard to comprehend because all of them were happening so fast, it was pretty dang impossible to figure any of this out.
In Peter's Mind
BGM: Spider-Man 2 OST – Uncle Ben
"YOU KILLED THE WOMAN I LOVE, AND FOR THAT, YOU'RE GOING TO DIE!"
"What has become of my city…? What has become of its heroes…? …Its villains…?"
"How do I turn back the darkness?"
"Such a disappointment… Parker!"
"You knew?"
"I won't let you win! THIS MEANS TOO MUCH TO ME!"
"NOT MORE THAN IT MEANS... TO ME!"
"Looks like the freak wants to play!"
"You knew this was coming, Pete!"
"Everybody needs help sometimes, Peter. Even Spider-Man."
"WARREN! WARREN, WHERE THE BLAZES ARE YOU?!"
"HELP HER! FOR GOD'S SAKE, HELP HER!"
"You have been a thorn in my side!"
"If you're nothing without this suit, then you shouldn't have it."
"I think it's best that we break up! I'm sorry…"
"Fine with me, Mister Parker!"
"When will I know I'm Spider-Man?"
"In spite of everything you've done for them, eventually, they will hate you."
"Remember Ben Parker?! THE OLD MAN YOU SHOT DOWN IN COLD BLOOD?!"
"What does it matter to you anyway?!"
"EVERYTHING!"
"Poor Peter Parker. No mother. No father. No uncle."
"All alone."
Throughout all of these visions, all of these quotes, and the sheer frustration at the fact he couldn't tell what any of this meant, Peter's mind slowed down, showing himself in a car with Uncle Ben.
Peter looked around, recognizing the day, recognizing the moment. There was no mistaking it.
This was the last conversation Peter had with Uncle Ben before he died. Well, at least the setting of it. The words this time around will be a bit different.
"All the things you've been thinking about, Peter… make me sad." Uncle Ben said, looking at Peter with saddened eyes.
"Make you sad? You?" Peter repeated, having rage in his voice, but his overall emotions were conflicted.
"Peter…" Uncle Ben began, never taking his eyes off his nephew, his son. "All the times we talked of honesty, fairness, justice, all of those times I counted on you to have the courage to take those dreams out into the world."
Peter's mental self began to visibly cry, struggling with Uncle Ben's words. "How can I believe anything you say anymore?" he replied, shaking his head as his voice became shaky. "I can't live your dreams anymore. I want a life of my own."
"You've been given a gift, Peter. With great power, comes great responsi-"
"Don't you dare finish that sentence! Don't do it! I'm sick of it!" Peter shouted, pointing at Uncle Ben. "You expect me to take you seriously when you didn't even live by your own words?! What about what I want, Uncle Ben?! I never wanted this! I never wanted to be Spider-Man!"
Now, Peter was letting it all out.
"I already struggled enough while being just Peter Parker! My mom and dad apparently wanted nothing to do with me! And with you telling me nothing but lies, I'm starting to think if it wasn't for Aunt May existing, I basically had to learn everything on my own! You and my parents mean nothing to me! TO HELL WITH YOU, AND THEM!"
Uncle Ben could only watch as Peter was breaking down.
Silence from both of them, until Peter would break it. His mental tears would slowly stream down his face, letting all of his pain out that he's felt for years.
"I didn't need you guys then, and I don't need you guys now."
"Peter…" Uncle Ben said, reaching out to him with his hand. "Take my hand, son."
Peter would look at Uncle Ben's hand, and would slowly but surely look at him in the eyes. They were both teary eyed at this point, signaling the struggle from both people.
Peter shook his head, finally saying these words.
"No, Uncle Ben. I'm just Peter Parker. I'm Spider-Man, no more."
"No more."
Back In Reality
"No more…" Peter told himself, looking at his hand. He took a deep breath, rubbing his forehead as he continued to sit in his room alone.
He needed to talk to somebody.
He needed to talk to the person who might be the only one that understands him.
Peter got up, walking out of his room and went downstairs, seeing that Aunt May was sitting on the couch watching TV. By the corner of her eye, she took note of Peter's presence, and when she fully looked at him, she could tell something was wrong.
"What's wrong, Peter?" she asked, her eyes immediately becoming ones of concern. Peter wasn't sure how to say this. He's been through so much in his life, and he's been through so much recently.
If he talked about every event in his life, then he may as well write a book.
"Aunt May… What do you think a hero is?"
As he asked this question, Aunt May tilted her head. What an odd question to ask. What did she think a hero was? She wasn't expecting this question, really. In fact, she wasn't really sure what to expect.
But like always, Aunt May would know what to say.
"I personally don't think it would be too hard to tell what a hero is." she replied, motioning for Peter to sit down with her, to which he accepted. "Courageous, self-sacrificing people, setting examples for all of us. Everybody loves a hero. People line up for them, cheer them, scream their names, and years later, they'll tell how they stood in the rain for hours, just to get a glimpse of the one who taught them to hold on a second longer."
As Aunt May was speaking, Peter sat in silence, only deciding to listen. Though, by his face, it was obvious that her words were getting to him.
And thus, Aunt May would say this.
"I believe there's a hero in all of us. That keeps us honest… gives us strength… makes us noble." She paused for a moment, before continuing her speech. "And finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want the most… even our dreams."
When Aunt May finally finished her speech, Peter's eyes were watery, trying to hold back his tears. He tried to pull himself together, taking a breath, before figuring out what to say.
"You know… You know what's funny about what you just said?" he managed to say, making Aunt May curious.
"What?" she replied.
"You basically described yourself." Peter explained, meaning that with his whole heart. He started shaking his head, still trying his best to hold back his tears. "I was a kid when you and Uncle Ben took me in. I was a kid struggling, wondering why my parents didn't want me…"
He stopped himself, feeling like his voice was breaking. And hey, it was, but he couldn't stop now. "I had-I had… I had nothing. There were days that went by where I wondered if life was even worth living anymore. It's a miracle I've gotten to this point, but… it's all because of you."
Peter started to sniff, looking directly at the woman who raised him.
She wasn't just his aunt.
She was his mother.
Now, Aunt May was trying to hold back her own tears, never taking her eyes off Peter as he was speaking from his heart.
"I don't think you know what you did," Peter told her, and as each second passed, it became harder and harder to speak. "The odds were always stacked against us. Even when Uncle Ben was still alive, we were still struggling financially. We're not supposed to be here… but what kept me going was your support. I never… I never had anything like that until I met you. I thought I made it in life, because that's how much you've meant to me, and nothing has changed today."
Peter closed his eyes, trying to compose himself. He would open his eyes once more, trying his best to finish what he wanted to say. "And when a person is brought into your life like that, you realize why you've made it this far in the first place. You made me believe, you kept me out of trouble, put clothes on my back, food on the table… When you didn't eat, you made sure I ate. You went to sleep hungry. All of the sacrifices you've made for me…" he paused, as his tears were slowly streaming down his face.
"Aunt May, you're my hero."
Once Peter said that, it was impossible for Aunt May to hold back her tears. She was left deep in thought, while also being so thankful for not only Peter's words, but Peter himself.
She gave him a hug, and Peter would do the same. The house would be silent in only voice, but it was loud when it came to the appreciation and love they had for each other.
The Next Day
Peter woke up, knowing it was yet another day he had to get ready for school. The first thing he would do was check his phone, yawning a bit as he tried to get energized.
Well, he would most certainly get energized, but for the wrong reasons.
His eyes widened, seeing that he had 10 missed calls from Harry, 17 missed called from Gwen, and literally 30 missed calls from Miles.
Oh nooooooo.
Peter facepalmed. He immediately knew why Harry was calling, because he promised him he would be over his place to tutor him. As for Gwen and Miles, he had no idea why, but for them to call him so many times, something important had to have happened.
He used to blame being Spider-Man for not being able to always be there for his friends.
But since he's quit being Spider-Man, now all he has to blame is Peter Parker.
"Oh God…" Peter muttered, closing his eyes as he already wasn't looking forward to this day.
Midtown High School
"You blew me off, Pete!" Harry angrily said, bumping into his shoulder and walked past him, not even wanting to look at his childhood best friend.
"Harry, look! I can explain! Things got busy and-!" Before Peter could even finish, Harry would cut him off, now turning to face him.
"Save it! I don't want to hear your excuses anymore! You're always busy doing this, or you're always busy doing that! But whenever you're in trouble, whenever YOU need support, I'm here. Gwen's there for you, Miles is there for you, we're always there! But you can never, EVER do the same for us, and it's been going on for way too long!" As Harry got done ranting to Peter, he would continue to walk away. He felt like he needed to before something bad happened.
Peter gritted his teeth, feeling like the worst friend in the world for not being there when his friends need him. As much as that would suck, Peter would then see Miles, and he would try to make things right with him. "Miles, I-!"
"Don't wanna hear it." Miles non expressively said, proceeding to walk past him. He went through a major, major change in his life, and he desperately needed some support, someone to share this news with.
He thought Peter would be the best choice, but apparently, he was wrong.
And if that wasn't enough, the punches would keep on coming.
Gwen, who was coming his way, also went through her own major changes in life, and she felt like the only one she could tell was Peter.
Wow, this group has a bad habit for relying on a guy who apparently is never there for them.
"Gwen!" Peter exclaimed, getting in front of her. "I'm sorry for not responding to your calls, but I can-!"
Gwen had a deep, deep sigh. While she wouldn't go off on him like Harry did, or pretty much ignore him like Miles did, she would tell him this. "I'm fine, Pete. I just need some space right now." she said, holding back a lot of her emotions, as hard as it was. She was basically telling him to get out of her way in the nicest way possible, or at least in the nicest way possible for her right now.
Gwen would soon walk away from him as well, leaving Peter alone to himself. As he was watching Gwen walk away, his mind would be attacked yet again, this time seeing numbers appear. Really, after all he's been through, especially with hearing voices and seeing visions in his head, he really thought he was losing it.
But as he continued to watch Gwen walk away, the numbers would become clearer to see, and in fact, it would be the first thing he sees clearly.
121.
Those numbers came in a flash, but he was indeed able to tell what it was.
And as soon as he saw those numbers appear, another one of those quick visions would happen in his head while watching Gwen walk away. Unlike the 121 number, he was unable to tell what this vision was about because it was happening so fast.
Afterwards, his hand touched his forehead, and a single tear would stream down his face.
But… this didn't make any sense at all. Why the heck was he crying?! Hasn't he cried enough in the past 24 hours?!
Peter couldn't really figure out why he was crying either, but for a moment… It's like…
…He felt a great loss.
EARTH-616
A woman would be crawling up the buildings of New York, signaling that it was indeed another Spider person. Her costume was grey in the middle, while having red and black webbing cover it. The rest of her costume was black, although her costume's fingers, specifically two fingers on both hands, had red while the rest of the costume's fingers were black. She also had a red mask that covered the lower part of her face.
Finally, she had brown eyes, and long, silky black hair.
As she was crawling up the buildings, she was stopped by… Yep, you guessed it! A bright light!
"Cindy Moon! You look as beautiful as ever!" Madame Web said, once again making a dramatic entrance by making a bright light appear. Honestly, she should make it less bright, because one of these days, she's gonna make somebody blind.
Nevertheless, like Madame Web already stated, this was Cindy Moon, AKA Silk.
When the light faded, and Silk was able to fully see Madame Web, she sighed heavily to herself.
"Oh no." she stated, already dreading what was about to come out of her mouth.
"Oh yes!" Madame Web replied, smirking. Honestly, this crazy universal Spider-Lady was starting to have way too much fun with this.
END OF CHAPTER 11: BIG CHANGE PART 3
BGM: Spider-Man Unlimited – End Credits
Daredevil: Looks like I just got word from the author that I'll be in the next chapter.
Black Cat: What a coincidence, I did too!
Mary Jane: Weren't you supposed to appear in this chapter, Daredevil?
Daredevil: This is outrageous! I demand a new contract!
Next time on Spider-Man: Fire and Desire!
Dare For Revenge
Madame Web: Who do I get to bother next?!
Author's Note: Alright, guys! Chapter 11 is done! Fun fact about this chapter, though… You guys have no idea how much I had to cut out. Seriously, you guys have NO idea. Why did I cut stuff out? Well, as an author, I try to make things flow smoothly the best I can. Daredevil was originally going to be in this chapter, but I personally felt like his stuff wouldn't fit with the stuff that went on in THIS chapter. So, to combat that, his stuff will be in the next chapter, I can guarantee it. I mean, the next chapter is literally called Dare For Revenge. It should be obvious he's gonna appear, lol. But look at it this way, with the large amount of stuff I cut out, this chapter was still able to hit over 7,000 words… Jesus, I need a break.
Also, how many references did you guys catch in this chapter alone? What the heck is going on with Peter? Is he losing his mind?! Maybe! Now his friends are mad at him! His life is crap! XD. Though, on a more serious note, I do have to ask you guys a question. Remember when I asked when you read Peter's lines, what voice do you think of? Now I'm going to ask the same question for Felicia. What voice do you think of when you read her lines? I'm curious to see what you guys are gonna say, because I personally think Felicia has had a ton of good voice actresses.
Finally, like always, if you guys like what you read, leave a follow and a favorite! Don't forget to READ AND REVIEW! See ya guys next time!
