Many thanks to those who read and reviewed this fic. I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here the UQ Holder members arrive at Chinatown in Yokohama, where they are going to find the client…
And this is where the conflict starts that would lead to the events that…well…
Well then, read on and enjoy!
Ch. 2: Chaina taun no konran
The scene shifts in Yokohama, which is deemed the Chinatown of the area, due to Chinese immigrants, residents and even those who are married to Japanese persons, which you can see that they are getting along well with the Japanese residents there as they bore no ill-will or grudge against the Chinese people who are doing an honest living.
The scene shifts further within the Chinatown area of Yokohama, as you can see that there are lots of stalls and stores selling Chinese-made products, and many are flocking the stalls to buy the products despite some of the customers are Japanese, and they find interest in buying some of the products made from China.
As you can see, despite the stalls not being much extravagant, business in Chinatown is doing well.
"Hey, please come here!"
"We are selling very good items!"
"We are offering 70% discount!"
"They are very cheap to buy!"
"Free trial!"
"Offer goods while supplies last…"
"Please come over!"
"We will assist you!"
By then, the three UQ Holder members arrived, and are surprised to see that Chinatown is full of shoppers and customers, not expecting that it would be this busy, and Kuromaru glanced at the scene, seeing that the merchants doesn't look like they are being harassed by the yakuza members and wondered if Yukihime got the information wrong.
Karin said that there is no way that Yukihime got the wrong info, as she aid that the client they seek is the constant victim, and perhaps the yakuza members operated stealthily so as not to attract attention.
"Really, Karin-senpai?"
"Yes, Kuromaru. I am sure that…"
"Whatever, you two. Let's go find the client."
"Wait, Touta…"
"Karin-senpai's right. We need to confirm first…"
"We can do it by asking anyone here. That'll simplify our work."
"Touta…"
"He really can be a pain…"
Touta then told Karin that they should find the client's shop and talk to the client, so that they can get info on who the gangsters are and when the gangsters come and visit, the UQ Holder can plan a surprise attack and intimidate the gangsters into submitting and make them swear to leave Chinatown alone and never come back.
Karin nodded as she seemed to like the idea, with Kuromaru agreeing to it, as this would give them the element of surprise and catch the gangsters off-guard and lower their defenses, and then demoralize them to the point of making them decide to quit the blackmailing schemes.
"For someone so dense you do have a good idea."
"She's right, Touta."
"Heh-heh…"
"Alright. We proceed."
"Right!"
"Oh yeah!"
"And behave yourself, Touta."
"Aw…"
After that, the trio went ahead and proceed to go find the client and assure to him that they will save him from the harassing gangsters.
As the trio walked the area while searching for the shop where the client works, thy are being enticed by the merchants as they offered them various products in the hopes of selling them, and so far Konomaru is the only one to speak and politely decline.
As Touta looked around, some of the merchants offered one of their popular products, saying that it will make him more MUSCULAR and promised that it will attract pretty girls and become popular at his school, as well as to scare and intimidate bullies.
"Hey there, young lad…"
"Y-yes?"
"Would you like to buy this herb?"
"Um…what does it do…?"
"It can stimulate your growth spurt…gives you extra muscles…"
"Huh? But…"
"You can grow taller, and make you a macho man. Believe me…you will attract a lot of beauties…and scare off anyone who tries to bully you."
"Um…well…"
However, Karin shook her head and wave her hand, saying that her comrade is not interested, grabbing Touta by his collar and the two teens, along with Konomaru, went on their way, and Touta asked why is Karin yanking him so hard, and there she told him to ignore what the merchants are telling him, reminding that they are here to find the client, not to shop around.
"Remember…we are in the middle of a mission…"
"Yeah, I know…"
"So don't think this is about pleasure…"
"I didn't…"
"Then ignore the merchants and keep going."
"Geez…you sure like an old maid with a hundred cats…"
"What was that?"
"Um…"
The two teens began to bicker, and some of the shoppers noticed it, and they began to comment that they are seeing two couples arguing, which looked romantic in nature, and expressed envy that they wished that they become teenagers again and feel what love is like.
Karin stared wide-eyed while blushing, as she couldn't believe what the shopper are saying, and she grabbed Touta by his collar and tells him they need to find client fast, and Touta told Karin not to pull him harder as he is losing his footing, though she seemed to ignore him as she wanted to get away from the mumbling crowd as fast as possible.
"Come on."
"Hey!"
"Let's finish this mission and get out of here."
"Why are you dragging me?"
"Just shut up, okay."
"Karin-senpai…"
"…"
"Hey!"
As the two teens bicker and bicker, Konomaru told the two that they found the shop, as he based the map and the description, and both Karin and Touta stopped their bickering and saw the shop, which looked like a small drugstore and the trio are now heading there to see the client, but suddenly blocked by some men in tuxedos, and they seem to be are walking towards them, and Karin seemed to get the gist as the men are trying to discreetly prevent her and Touta to proceed to the shop, and there she politely asked the men to step aside, though the men pretended to be inept by saying that they are lost and asked her for directions.
Karin glanced at Touta and guessed what she is suggesting, and as Touta attempted to head to the shop by going ahead, the other men blocked his way and tries to push him back, and there Karin asked the men what is their problem and why are they blocking her and Touta's path, but the men attempted to stall them by making nonsense comments just to keep the two teens back.
"Do you know? We are the one. Don't you agree with me, my brethren?"
"Yes sir!"
"Yes sir!"
"Yes sir!"
"We are the one…the only one…any one…some other one…am I correct, my brothers?"
"Yes sir!"
"Yes sir!"
"Yes sir!"
While the four men in tuxedo are keeping Karin and Touta preoccupied, they did not notice is that Konomaru managed to sneak past the men in tuxedo and is ahead of them as he is heading towards the shop he seeks, and he found it, where he appeared to guess that someone is already there and he glanced at Karin, motioning some hand gesture, and she nodded, and there she and Touta began fighting off the men in tuxedo, which initiated a brawl.
Touta became excited as he gets to have some exercise and felt good in beating up some hoodlums, and for once, Karin is in agreement as she really wanted to get rid of the hoodlums who are harassing people here because of their blackmailing methods.
"Ah! This felt nice!"
"Oh?"
"This is better than shopping! I get to beat up some hoodlums!"
"For once I agree with you."
"Heh-heh!"
"Just make sure you knock them out."
"Sure!"
"Good."
Inside the shop, Konomaru approached the shopkeeper, who appeared to be 75 years old, and the shopkeeper appeared distressed as he is surrounded by several men in tuxedos, as they are harassing him into giving out the money he collected, and as Konomaru approached them, the men pushed Konomaru back and told the genderless UQ Holder member that the shop is closed and that no visitors are allowed, and Konomaru guessed that these must be the men who are harassing the client, and said that he is here to see the shopkeeper, but the men told Konomaru to leave at once.
"Get lost!"
"Get lost!"

As Konomaru is being shoved back, the other gangsters proceeded to intimidate the shopkeeper, demanding that he PAY, but the shopkeeper refuses, saying that he cannot fork over any PROTECTION MONEY as he has nothing more to give.
But the men threatened to harm him if he refuses.
"Hey!"
"Give us the money!"
"Yeah, hand it over!"
"Or you'll get what's coming!"
"I told you I don't have any more money to give! You took everything from me! I have nothing more to give! Get lost and leave me alone!"
"You really wanna die?"
"You got a death wish?"
"Just say the word, you shitty shopkeeper!"
By then three of the goons were thrown inside via the window, where Karin is seen landing the blow, and there she told Konomaru to get the shopkeeper to safety as she and Touta will take care of the rest, which Touta can be heard getting excited in beating up some extortionists.
Karin reminded him not to get carried away, which he said he won't and will deal with the rest of the gangsters as quickly as possible so that no one else will get caught in the crossfire.
"Really?"
"Really, senpai!"
"…"
"Just leave it to me!"
"Fine."
"Alright!"
"Just finish it as soon as possible!"
"You got it!"
As the gangsters are distracted Konomaru grabbed the shopkeeper and went to the back exit area where he is assured that the gangsters will be taken care of and that they won't extort money ever again, which made him feel at ease.
There he realized that the ones helping him are from UQ Holder.
"Huh? Are you from UQ Holder?"
"Yes, sir."
"Really?"
"Yes, sir."
"Well bless my soul…thank you for answering my call!"
"We'll see to it that those goons won't bother you again."
"Yes, I appreciate it!"
"Okay."

Hope you liked this chapter, as action dominated most here, as Karin and Touta deal with the gangsters while Konomaru takes the shopkeeper to safety while the others handle the rest.
It would be a matter of time before the situation is under control…
