I get hit by the weirdest things...oh well. Hope ya like this little ficlet.

Disclaimer: Fruits Basket is not mine. If it was, it would be called 'The Akito and Haru Show' and would have Kyo kicking Yuki's ass all across the scene/page.

As she packed the bag full of plain black t-shirts, the young clerk couldn't help but keep looking up from the purchases to the young man who was buying them. He was definitely one of the cuter ones that had come into the store today. He almost made that two toned hair look natural.

He'd smiled at her while giving over his money, given her a polite hello when he came to the cash. Now though, he was gazing at something just over her head and to the left. As far as she knew, there was nothing there but a light but if her handsome customer felt the need to stare there, she wasn't going to interrupt him. She could look at him instead.

Yes, that hair did look natural. He must have freshly dyed it. The slightly unfocused eyes were lovely too. A deep, dark brown, a touch sad looking, a touch soulful. Like a cow.

That thought hit her like a cream pie to the face and she found herself giggling. Imagine picturing this gorgeous young man to the heavy animals she'd seen at a zoo or two. The giggle woke the customer out of his own little reality and he looked to the cashier again.

"Huh?" he asked, ever so intelligently. The cashier flushed as she put in the last of the shirts.

"Just thinking you certainly like black ne?" she replied, printing up a receipt to put in the bag.

"Ahn." he mused, taking the offered bag and peering inside as if he'd forgotten what he'd bought. "I suppose so. Good night." he offered that slight smile again and wandered off leaving the cashier to her thoughts again. A cow. That lovely thing. Ha, and maybe that little boy that had waited by the door and was now bouncing along was a bunny rabbit.

"I read too much manga..." the girl muttered as she began to ring up the next persons total.

That night, she had the strangest dream. A dream about a dairy cow with three earrings totting about a rabbit with a frilly bow on his back. Yes. Definitely too much manga.
