Commentator's Booth (Day)

"Oh, bet you fans are hurting after that one." Oobleck said over the loudspeaker. "But this next match will have them on the edge of their seats!"

"Team XICR of Beacon is certainly a crowd favorite, but these Dust experts are up against some of the toughest testosterone teammates we've seen so far." Port said. "I'm of course talking about Team SSSN! Sun Wukong and his team are certainly a force to be reckoned with, and although he will be representing the Mistral Academy of Haven, I'm sure his friends and family back in Vacuo will be cheering him along!"

Amity Stadium (Day)

"I hope you're all ready to get your asses whupped." Gregory said to his opponents, smiling.

"I was born ready." Neptune said, which earned him odd looks from everyone in earshot.

"Forgive him, for he... Yeah, he's dumb." Sun explained, patting his partner's shoulder.

"We know the feeling." Ivy said, getting a glare from her leader.

A bell rang, and holographic roulette spinners appeared around the west side of the arena. Eventually, they landed on an Earth Battlefield, and a desert-like landscape was formed. Using Fire and Hard Light Dust, an artificial Sun started burning in the air above the 8 battlers. "Okay, this is my kind of climate." Dominic said, basking in the bright sunlight.

"Don't get too cocky. That's my turf too." Sun said.

On the east side of the arena, the roulette spinners decided on a Water Battlefield. Neptune watched in horror as a beach appeared, complete with a shipwreck.

"3, 2, 1, BEGIN!"

The second the fight began, Neptune ran as far as he could away from the water and climbed to the top of one of the cliffs on the Earth Battlefield. "Neptune! What are you doing?" Sun yelled.

"Oh, you know. Just getting to higher ground." the bluenette said, taking a step back.

"On the enemy's side!?" Sun scolded.

"They'll never expect it!" Neptune responded.

"The idiot has a point." Dominic said. "Either way, take him out." On his command, Team XICR ran toward Neptune, with Team SSSN on their tail. Dominic in particular was being chased by Scarlet, who swung at him with his cutlass. The blonde jumped into the air, dodging the attack, before launching two fireballs at his opponent.

Meanwhile, Gregory was facing off with Sage. The two charged at eachother, their weapons clashing together. The Blue Rose grinned as the subzero temperatures emanating from his scythe caused it to get stuck to Sage's sword. Understandably, the greenette was caught off-guard by this. Because of this lapse in judgement, his weapon was torn from his grip when Gregory pulled his own weapon back.

"Looking for something?" the boy asked sarcastically as he melted the ice connecting his scythe to Sage's sword, then threw his opponent's weapon into the water. Sage ran toward the Water Battlefield to retrieve his weapon, but was quickly halted when a wall of ice blocked his path. When he tried to move around it, another wall sprang up. This process repeated until he was surrounded by ice. "And, for the finishing touch..." The ice began to move closer together, crushing Sage until his Aura was depleted. "Bingpot." Gregory said as he willed the ice to vanish.

"And Team XICR takes the lead with their first KO!" Port shouted.

Sun eventually joined Scarlet, and both fought against Dominic. As the duo approached him, the pyromancer launched a flurry of Sword Beams at the ground, kicking up large amounts of sand and forcing Sun to retreat.

"Neptune!" the faunus yelled as he ran. Hearing his partner, the bluenette jumped down from his perch to battle Dominic. The Knight fired another Sword Beam, but his attack was destroyed by an energy shot from Neptune's blaster. While his attention was focused on Neptune, the blonde failed to react in time when Sun kicked him in the face.

'Oh, he's dead.' Connor, Gregory, and Ivy all thought at the same time.

With his eye glowing red, Dominic stomped the ground, causing shards of glass to sprout from the ground. The spikes narrowly missed Sun, who was sweating bullets from the intense heat. Despite this, he was able to match his fellow blonde in speed when he rushed at him with his blade. The two weapons struck eachother with a metallic clang, sending sparks and embers flying. The hateful glare Dominic had on his face unnerved Sun, but the faunus shook off most of it.

An explosion of electricity triggered by Connor launched Scarlet into the air. Using his Semblance, the boy was able to glide safely to the mast of the shipwreck. "Ivy, the wreck!" Hearing her teammate's cry, the Maiden rushed to the ship alongside Gregory.

Using his magic, the boy willed the water to gush out like geysers, then froze the spouts to make platforms that Ivy used to board the ship. Once she was there, Gregory threw shards of ice at the mast. Understanding her partner's train of thought, Ivy used them as a staircase to the top.

"Let's tango!" she said to Scarlet as she got out her knives. The two battled, with Scarlet having the upper hand thanks to his skill and speed. 'You're not the only one with tricks up their sleeve.' Ivy's eyes flashed yellow as she let her balance go, falling down and shocking Scarlet. When the boy came to check on his opponent, he saw nothing.

At least, until he was stabbed twice in the back, making him fall into the water.

"Okay, I am glad that didn't backfire." Ivy said, grabbing the mast. She took an enormous risk. By using her Life Magic, she made the wood of the ship stick to her shoes, allowing her to 'fall' and strike Scarlet while his back was turned.

"Oh, that was a bad fall." Scarlet said, putting a hand to his now injured back. Hearing a crackling noise, he looked up to see a bolt of black lightning. Before he had a chance to even process the attack, he was electrocuted with the Dark Magic, breaking his Aura.

"Uh oh." Sun said, running from the Sword Beams and Flame Shots Dominic was casting. "Neptune? I could use some help, buddy!"

"Uh, you know, it'll probably be better if you came over here." Neptune said. "Yeah, I can guard this...sector. We're in lockdown mode!"

"What are you talking about!? There's nothing to lock down!" Sun yelled, trying his best to not get his tail singed.

"Lockdown! Right, you got it!" the bluenette said, making his partner face-palm.

"Damn, I know you're afraid of water, but it's not-" the faunus was cut off when his attacker was shot by a plasma blast.

"There, I helped. You happy now?" Neptune said dryly. "Also, I am not afraid of water, and I have no idea what you are talking about."

Dominic raised his blade, getting ready to fire another Sword Beam. "NEPTUNE!" Sun yelled.

"Okay, fine!" the bluenette said, firing another plasma blast from his weapon.

"Time Break." Dominic quietly uttered, bringing the battle to a dead halt. While time was frozen, he ran until he was in front of Neptune. As soon as Time Break wore off, the plasma blast struck Dominic's previous location as he punched his attacker in the stomach, sending him flying.

"How in-?" Sun asked himself as Connor appeared, standing on a Glyph above him. "Oh, crap." he said as a bolt of black lightning struck the water he was standing in, breaking his Aura.

"And with that, Team XICR moves on to the Doubles Round!" Port declared.

"Oh, that was so close." Ruby said, letting out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

"Looks like they made it to the next round." Yang said, smiling at her brother, who was giving a bow to the audience.
