Daughter Of Batman Chapter 11
By the time the three of them reach Gotham Coliseum rain is now falling in earnest.
On first appearance alone the place looks completely deserted. No one's officially used this place in a very long time which clearly shows from the rundown visage over the entire property.
Staring at it all Danika wonders what it must've been like for those allowed to live in the real world to participate in what her mother and grandfather would call a frivolous waste of time. It must've been fun to enjoy with family and friends. Only now it is seen as rundown and abandoned in the rain, a miserable spectacle of wrecked humanity. Even more so on this dreary night, making it pitiable to others and intolerable to those who view it as an unwanted or unwelcome expense. That is until someone else comes along to buy and renovate to make it better once more.
A perfect place for Deathstroke and his followers to make the base and hide, to easily avoid notice.
From their perch, Bruce can't help but remiss a bit in nostalgia about memories with passed family members from long ago. The aching turmoil constantly lingers in his heart peeking through in his voice as he speaks to them about their family history.
"Dad used to bring me here for ball games. Sometimes, afterward, we'd go to the amusement park," said Bruce, quietly from where he was kneeling.
"And now history repeats itself," said Damian, impulsively, dropping from the perch, clearly having no problem with charging in headfirst. "Let's go."
Danika nearly follows when Bruce blocks her advance forward with a muscled arm. Even Ao, from where he's protected from the rain beneath her hair squeaks an objection. Not causing him to be so irrevocably excluded.
"Don't be so hasty," he cautions, taking the lead as they move to intercept Damian before he can make a fatal mistake before they've even set foot inside.
Apparently Damian is already underestimating the layout as both Bruce and Danika seem to take note.
Intercepting Damian, kneeling down to his level, and transferring a pair of binoculars to his hands, Bruce warned "We made a deal. You're backup. And this is no game. Think before you act."
Damian then spots what his father and sister noticed before he did.
"Surveillance cameras," said Damian, finding active machines where they should've been taken offline.
Eyes narrowed, Bruce said "Somebody is watching."
Conceding to the fact, Damian said "Very well. You lead." Damian then lightly elbows his sister when she gets within range. "You could've told me those were there."
Shrugging, Danika said "You left so fast I wasn't able to tell you."
Bruce then takes them inside through hidden access tunnels that lead into an old control room in the stadium. As Damian shuts the access hatch Bruce keeps checking the halls for any of the enemies before they venture further forth.
"How did you know this was here," said Danika, lightly petting Ao on the head.
"I make it my business to know," said Bruce, motioning for them to be quiet as two mercenary ninjas wearing Deathstroke's symbol on their uniforms walks past.
"We can jump them," urges Damian.
Shaking his head, Bruce said "We need to find Langstrom. Quietly."
After bypassing a number of mercenarys, the group is able to locate Dr. Langstrom working on weaponized chemical formulas for Deathstroke to make use of.
Needless to say, Dr. Langstrom isn't too pleased to see them. To the contrary he is downright terrified of their presence. The reason why is made abundantly clear as he explains that Deathstroke holds his family hostage against him. If he doesn't obey, complying with Deathstroke's demands then they'll be slaughtered without hesitation. When Dr. Langstrom refuses to divulge Deathstroke's location, whether he knows or not at this point is irrelevant, Damian loses his patience and temper. He ends up launching him across the room, crashing through the door, and into the hallway where, unfortunately, a group of mercenaries that are on patrol. The entirety come barging in with their swords drawn.
So much for being discreet.
All three are instantly on the defensive. Seeing an opportunity Damian snatches up a fallen sword from the first adversary he downed. Despite Bruce ordering him not to actually use the blade Damian still finds ways around the command. Danika has no such hindrance, utilizing her tessen war fans expertly in order to dodge, deflect, disarm, and knock out. Much to her displeasure one of them manages to cut through the hair tie making up her ponytail, causing it to come completely undone. So much for that idea.
With each enemy they knock down more soon enter to take their place while Dr. Langstrom makes a hasty escape.
They can't afford to have him get away while they're preoccupied.
Bruce decides to have them make a tactical retreat over Damian's stubborn objections before this gets even more out of control. Utilizing a smoke bomb the trip slipped away under the confusion.
They make their way onto the field inside the stadium.
Suddenly, alarmed, Bruce skids to a halt.
Holding out a cautioning hand to get the twins to stop, eyes wide, Bruce said "Listen." Screeching from above provided the answer he dreaded. "Man-bats."
The entire flock then swarms them. Bruce, Damian, and Danika barely manage to fend them off before the former uses his ascension cable on a grapple gun to get them out of there. With the Man-bats in hot pursuit they quickly make their way to the scoreboard. Bruce resorts to having explosive batarangs implode in their midst. The debris collapsing from the ceiling collides with the Man-bats, forcing them to break off.
This leaves them to continue tracking Dr. Langstrom.
Damian is one step ahead of them as Bruce and Danika discover.
"Damian," sighed Danika, slapping a hand over her eyes as Ao squeaks with his head lowered in disappointed sadness towards Damian's behavior.
"Stupid kid," murmurs Bruce.
Danika grimaces on her brother's behalf but doesn't speak in his defense. Her twins' actions speak for themselves.
By the time they reach Damian he already has Dr. Langstrom on his knees with the tip of the newly won katana at the man's throat.
"Robin," said Bruce, descending from above with Danika beside him, glowering heavily at Damian.
Scoffing, reluctantly lowering his katana, Damian sneered "Huh! Lucky."

By the way whose been watching House of the Dragon? I am so in love with Prince Daemon. He is a dream. Matt Smith was the perfect person to play that character. Similar to Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool no one could've done it better.
