Chapter 2: A Not So Perfect World
Within the building once known as the White House many years ago, a lone individual sat upon a large Imperial throne behind an enormous desk, gazing at a hologram of the Earth. It had taken many years, but after much toil and wars, order had been brought to the entire world. However, even though order had been brought to this once crime infested world, many rebellions still resisted the great Empire that the figure within the dimly lit room worked hard to keep running. This person was none other than Deathshadow, the supreme overlord of the Global Empire, and the Imperial Palace served as the heart of the Empire. Emperor Deathshadow had been informed awhile ago that several rebellions in Mexico and China had been effectively eliminated by the Imperial Military and the rebel leaders caught and detained. Deathshadow had ordered his military generals to have the leaders publicly executed the next day for daring to try and restore freedom to their homelands. It enraged Deathshadow more than anything else. Did those fools not know that freedom would only breed more chaos and corruption throughout the world? It seemed as though they didn't care, so he would make them care, or have them face a slow and painful execution for resisting.
The room was mostly silent, except for the ambient hum of the holoprojector and the A/C running above, followed by the mechanical breathing sound of Deathshadow's respirator which pumped clean purified air into his lungs and also exhaled it as well. Deathshadow's entire body was clothed in a tight black skin suit with a large metal helmet encasing his head which had a visor on the front with two triangular eye holes shaped in a way that always made him look angry. Three large metal horns were welded in at the top, giving Deathshadow a horrifying appearance. A large metal ring was surgically attached and welding all around his chest and back which had a screen on the front which displayed his life support control systems and health status. Deathshadow could easily monitor his heart rate, oxygen levels, and respiratory status using this screen. The metal ring also served as a control panel that could open the visor on the front of his helmet, allowing his face to be seen, but this was something he rarely ever did. Deathshadow hated showing his true face to the public, including his high ranking Imperial Council members. Whenever he chose to open his visor, it was when he was alone, but even seldom did it then as well. The helmet was designed to come off as well, but this would make it hard for Deathshadow to hear and see properly. His eardrums had been damaged beyond repair after receiving the injuries that he received long ago, and as a result, a set of cybernetic hearing implants had been surgically implanted in place of where his eardrums once were which could pick up sound and even translate foreign languages into English. It was possible for Deathshadow to hear things with his helmet off, but any sound that his hearing implants picked up sounds feint and very far away without the helmet on.
The same went for his vision as well. Deathshadows eyes had been badly damaged to the point where it was impossible to see, but after the Black Shadow surgically injected nanites into his damaged eyeballs to repair the damage, Deathshadow was able to slightly see again. However, the nanites couldn't repair the damage entirely, so Deathshadow required the helmet to see properly. With the helmet removed, Deathshadows vision was very blurry, and it made it hard for him to see in the dark. With the helmet on, his vision was better than ever, and the lens could switch to night vision, heat vision, and HD vision. Deathshadow's hearing was also much better with the helmet on since it had a set of sound enhancers built into the left and right sides of the ear area to allow for much better hearing. A special backpack respirator was built into the back of the ring around Deathshadows chest, and a set of red and black colored air hoses extended from the sides all the way around to the front which went right through his chest and into his scarred lungs. Since Deathshadow's lungs had been badly burned and damaged from his injuries, he required the respirator and air hoses to help him breath, as it was very hard for him to breath on his own without them.
It was possible for him to breath if the respirator suddenly failed, but not through his mouth since the helmet completely covered his head and prevented any air from getting in. Instead, Deathshadow would have to inhale and exhale through a special pipe that was built into a small metal ring that was attached to his scarred neck. The ring served as both an auxiliary breathing source, as well as a speech producer. Deathshadows vocal cords had been scarred from his life threatening injuries which made it very hard for him to speak clearly without the use of a cybernetic vocal processor, which was built into the ring. The auxiliary respirator extended from the front of the neck ring and a long pipe went through his neck and down into his throat which would allow Deathshadow to breath unassisted from the main respirator unit should it fail, but breathing on his own was incredibly painful since his throat was scarred from the burns he received from his injuries. Two blue power cables ran from the main life support ring on Deathshadows chest and into the neck ring which powered his vocal processor, allowed his damaged vocal cords to produce speech, only it sounded nothing like his original voice. It was deeper, mechanical, and much more sinister than his own voice. If Deathshadow's helmet were removed and his vocal processors were switched off, his own voice would sound raspy and coarse, almost like an elderly person who smoked cigars everyday of their life.
Deathshadow's forelimbs were all mechanical since he had lost them when injured; only the upper parts of his limbs escaped total destruction. His metal limbs were strong, powerful, and could easily crush metal with ease, and he could easily fire red rage lightening from them when using the Red Rage. The mechanical hands had red gloves over them to hide most of their mechanical gears and inner workings, and the feet had round metal boots around them to protect them from begin damaged. These robotic limbs had no pain receptors, so Deathshadow didn't feel any pain when being struck by them, but the bearings and specialized attachment plating that had been surgically attached to the stumps where his human limbs had once been would sometimes hurt if Deathshadow twisted his metal limbs a certain way. Special cybernetic nerves and needles had been implanted inside the stumps which connected to the nerves leading to his brain which would allow the limbs to function like normal limbs, but they would hurt a lot if Deathshadow moved them in an awkward directions or if he tried lifting something very heavily like a car or truck. The main life support ring also had a set of long bolts that actually went inside Deathshadows body and screwed into his rib bones to hold it firmly in place, and it would cause him excruciating pain if he twisted his hips too far to the left or right since it would cause the bolt screws to tug on his rib bones. Deep down, Deathshadow absolutely hated these implants, but he had learned to adapt to the pain of having them over the years. The pain made him angry, and this anger fueled the Red Rage running through him, making him more and more powerful. It had overall made Deathshadow a very deadly force to be feared and reckoned with, and he enjoyed it.
As Deathshadow was lost in thought, the holoprojector suddenly stated that he had an incoming message from the Imperial Military Police chief. Concerned, the cyborg Emperor tapped the button and answered the call. A syntho-drone resembling the old Eric syntho-drone in a military police combat suit appeared on screen looking concerned.
"Yes, IMP Chief Orios, what's going on?" Deathshadow asked, sounding a bit annoyed from being interrupted while relaxing.
"Sorry to bother you, Lord Deathshadow, but I have some concerning news" Chief Orios began.
"What happened?" Deathshadow questioned, a hint of frustration in his cyborg voice.
"One of our peace patrol soldiers was reported dead near an open field just a few miles outside of New York City by some of my other soldiers. His head was completely obliterated, and it appeared to have been caused by a high powered laser rifle. We think it might have been more rebels, but we still don't know who did it" Orios explained.
If Deathshadow's expression could be seen, it would be one of concern and of slight anger. It wasn't too surprising that something like this happened. There had been many instances that rebels and resistance members would attack and kill various Imperial Soldiers while fighting for their freedom, and it had become a big problem for the Global Empire over the years.
"Notify the rest of Imperial Police HQ to get onto investigating it. I want to know who was responsible for this," Deathshadow ordered coldly. "I grow tired of these rebellions".
"As do I, my Lord," Orios replied. "These people just don't understand the gravity of what they are doing. Crime and corruption are practically non-existent, yet so many people don't like that idea. They'd rather try and restore the very thing that brought about corruption and chaos rather than enjoy what you offer them".
"Unfortunately yes," Deathshadow replied, sounding rather upset. "However, we will not have to deal with these rebellions much longer, as I already have a plan that will end all rebellions and prevent any future rebellions from ever occurring again".
"You do? Might I ask what that may be, Lord Deathshadow?" Orios asked, intrigued.
"I cannot disclose too much info to you, as it is a highly classified project, but I can tell you that it is something that me and an elite team of my best Imperial scientists have been working on for the past four years. It is called "Project Mothermind", and it is the final solution to all rebellions" Deathshadow replied.
"Project Mothermind... quite an odd name, but if it will help stop those rebels, I won't argue" Orios commented.
"I assure you that it will, and no one will ever have to worry about rebellions again," Deathshadow replied in a calm voice. "Humanity will be more united with the Empire than ever before once Project Mothermind is initiated".
"I see," Orios said. "Whatever it is, I hope it succeeds. I for one, am tired of dealing with rebels".
"As am I," Deathshadow replied. "Notify Imperial Police HQ and give them my orders. I have other matters to deal with".
"Very well, my Lord. Orios out" Orios said, then signed off.
Deathshadow turned his gaze towards the window, wondering how much longer it would be until Project Mothermind was finally ready to begin, then gazed at a picture of someone on the wall hidden in the shadows of the room.
"Soon, very soon," Deathshadow said to the picture. "Rebellions will be a thing of the past, as will any forms of resistance. The Global Empire will finally be at peace once Project Mothermind is complete, and no one will ever defy me and my Empire ever again".

Lloyd sat in his new living quarters at a desk looking over a ton of history documents on a built-in holo-computer on the top of the desk. He had been checked over by the medics and doctors and was cleared for release earlier after finding nothing wrong. The cryo-pod had done its work quite well, despite keeping Lloyd in a ten year sleep, so all that was left of his injuries were old scars. Dr. Director had then escorted Lloyd to his new living quarters, which were small with the whole room being square shaped. The bed was located behind him on the right side of the room, and in front of the main entrance and exit was another door leading into a shower room with a toilet and sink. The carpeting was soft and smooth with light blue coloring, and the room was lit up by a ceiling fan with an LED light in it. Lloyd was now dressed in a casual black T-shirt and black shorts and wore black socks, which felt like a huge relief since coming out of that pod. He had been reading over all the info on what had happened over the last ten years that he had been in cryo-sleep, and it was more horrible than he thought. Dr. Director had already told Lloyd quite a bit about what had happened after he had been put inside the cryo-pod, but what he read in these documents was far worse. These documents contained tons of info that Betty's resistance team had managed to steal from the Global Empire, including a few historical documents that Emperor Deathshadow would never allow the public to see. From what Lloyd could gather, the Global Empire had been founded in 2010, one year after he had gone into cryo-sleep.
The Black Shadow organization had succeeded in taking over the world and ruled it with an iron fist of tyranny for almost a year, but its grip began to weaken after Deathshadow killed Ridley and Erin Faust, then proceeded to start locating and wiping out all the other factions of Black Shadow across the globe. It was a slow process, but Deathshadow was eventually able to completely wipe out Black Shadow after he forced Dr. Drakken into creating armies of genetically enhanced syntho-drone clones with the DNA of Stitch, AKA Experiment 626. As Betty had mentioned earlier, these clones were practically invincible and almost impossible to kill with normal weapons, and their super human strength and intelligence made them a serious threat. They had also been genetically programmed to only obey Deathshadow, and soon, he had a big enough army of these clones to start a third world war. Near the end of 2009, Deathshadow eventually wiped out the entire Black Shadow organization and took down all the puppet governments controlling the U.S and every other parts of the world, then forged the Global Empire after promising everyone that he'd promote freedom, justice, and order. This however was nothing more than a lie, and many people saw through it, but many others chose to believe it either out of fear or because they lost perspective and believe Deathshadow's means of order was right.
Every Government on the planet had been wiped out by the Black Shadow when Ridley took over the world, and with Black Shadow wiped out, the entire world was desperate for leadership. Deathshadow had agreed to unite the entire world under one Government after finally taking out Black Shadow and all of its factions, and this one world government became the Global Empire. At first, things seemed peaceful for the first two weeks with the Empire in power, but then Deathshadow began making reforms that would deprive people of their rights. The first reform that he made was by officially disbanding the Constitution of America along with the Bill Of Rights, and in their place, Deathshadow created what was known as the five "Imperial Prime Directive" laws that pretty much destroyed everything the Founding Fathers of America fought and died for.
These laws were written as followed:
Imperial Prime Directive Law No.1: All citizens of the Empire are required to swear their undying loyalty to Emperor Deathshadow and follow his every command. Neutrality is not an option and will be considered an act of treason and disloyalty to the Emperor, a crime punishable by incarceration in a re-education camp for however long decided by the high Imperial Council. Any form of resistance or refusal to the re-education process is punishable by execution of the violator and any family they may have to ensure that order is maintained.
Imperial Prime Directive Law No.2: Citizens are forbidden from possessing fire arms or any forms of armed protection to prevent rebellion. The Empire will provide protection for its citizens, not themselves. Possession of fire arms by anyone else other than members of the Imperial Military or Imperial Police Forces will be considered an act of treason to the Global Empire and punishable by imprisonment and heavy fines of up to $500.000.
Imperial Prime Directive Law No.3: To ensure that crime and corruption stay non-existent, and to ensure the loyalty of its citizens, security camera systems will be installed in every home of the United Imperial States Of America to keep track of all activity. Sabotage or any attempts to hide the view of these cameras will be considered an act of promoting rebellion and corruption against the Empire and punishable by imprisonment or death. Re-education may also be required if the Imperial Supreme Court demands it.
Imperial Prime Directive Law No.4: Any forms of media, writing, poetry, or art of any sort must be checked by the Loyalty Enforcement Agency to ensure that it does not contain any content that promotes controversy, hatred, or rebellion against the Global Empire before having it published by the creators. Publishing any media without having it checked will be considered an act of treason against the Empire and punishable by death or imprisonment.
Imperial Prime Directive Law No.5: Engaging in any sorts of serious criminal activity, such as rebelling against the Empire, protesting against the Empire, or committing an act of murder will be punishable by slow and painful public execution. All family members of the violator will also be executed to ensure that no form of rebellion or retaliation against the Empire can occur.
Horrified, Lloyd continued scrolling through the other files and found tons and tons of other Imperial laws and amendments that promoted tyranny in every form. The Bill Of Rights was gone completely, as were the original articles of the Constitution, and so were any other forms of freedom. In less than a year after the Global Empire was formed near the beginning of 2010, Deathshadow had managed to crush freedom all across the globe, and everyone was helpless to stop it. As any person could guess, rebellions quickly formed and many people took up arms against this new form of tyranny, but there were still many who actually believed in this new horrible system. Sadly, these rebellions were easily defeated by the Imperial Military composed of genetically enhanced Imperial syntho-drone soldiers, and those that managed to survive were sent to re-education camps to basically be brain washed by the Empire. Those who resisted would be executed for refusing to become puppets of the Empire's tyranny, and if they had any family members, they'd be executed as well. It was absolutely horrid, and it only got worse. There were also laws in place that forbid educational systems all across the globe from teaching any history about certain topics, like the Civil War and any other things that promoted the topic of "freedom". The Imperial Educational System ensured that only topics that supported or glorified the Global Empire and promoted its ideals could be taught to all future generations of students around the globe. If anyone tried teaching things other than what the Empire allowed, they'd be punished for promoting "dangerous" ideals that could cause a possible future rebellion.
Emperor Deathshadow made sure to keep any ideas of freedom from getting to peoples heads, and he did it quite well it seemed. Lloyd was more horrified by each document he read each passage. He hadn't been awake when Black Shadow ruled the world, but Lloyd already knew from reading other passages that it had been just as horrible as the Global Empire was, if not nearly close enough. Ridley ruled the world through fear and terror, and actually promoted crime and other forms of terrorism against those who resisted him. However, Deathshadow was slightly different. He ruled the entire world as a giant police state working to try and stop all crime and corruption before it even happened, but doing so resulted in a world not too different from Black Shadow's rule. While there was currently no crime and corruption all across the globe thanks to the Global Empire's rule, it didn't mean the world was perfect like Deathshadow claimed it to be. People hated living in a world where their lives were monitored everyday by a tyrannical Empire to ensure that they lived exactly the way Emperor Deathshadow wanted them to live, and because of this, rebellions all over the world had formed to try and take back their freedom that had been stolen from them. Sadly though, since the Empire's entire military and global police force was composed of genetically enhanced syntho-drone super soldiers, it was impossible for armed rebellions to win in a fight. These syntho-drones couldn't be killed by normal weapons like guns, bombs, or even RPG's. It had even been confirmed that some of the military syntho-drones could even withstand a nuclear blast, making them pretty much invincible. They weren't immortal and could certainly die like anyone else, but only by a certain type of laser weapon that few rebellions possessed. Betty Directors resistance force was the only one that owned these sorts of weapons, and Lloyd had found out through his reading that Dr. Drew Lipsky himself invented the weapon capable of killing a syntho-drone super soldier.
He had secretly embedded this flaw design into the syntho-drones on purpose in hopes that future resistance movements could stand a chance against them. None of the documents mentioned what had become of Drew Lipsky, but upon remembering what Betty mentioned to him earlier, Lloyd figured that Deathshadow must have somehow discovered Dr. Lipsky's flaw and had most likely killed him as punishment for trying to undermine his plans. Shego had managed to survive against Deathshadow somehow, and when she was rescued, she had most likely told Betty what had happened to Drew. Lloyd made a personal note to question Shego about it later. He was eager to meet the members of Betty's resistance movement later on once morning arrived. It was still 4:34 AM and night outside, so everyone was still asleep at that moment, and Lloyd himself still felt a bit tired even after coming out of a ten year cryo-sleep. He still had many questions about what had gone on while he was asleep, yet Lloyd felt exhausted from all the reading he had been doing and decided that taking a rest would do him well. Lloyd shut the holoprojector off and stood up from his chair with a yawn.
"This world really has gone to hell," he muttered, heading over to the bed. "Might as well rest up so I can figure out just what the hell I'm gonna do to survive in this world tomorrow".
Lloyd then shut the lights off and dropped down onto his bed, falling asleep the moment his head hit the pillows.
...
...
Soon... very soon, we shall become one. No longer will there be pain, no longer will there be suffering, only harmony and peace. Rebellions and freedom will be a thing of the past. All of us shall be united together as one... and we shall take that dream to the stars and other worlds beyond the Earth. There will surely be other worlds in need of order and harmony, and we shall save them all.
"Hey, wake up sleepy head! Dr. Director wants you!" a female voice snapped.
Lloyd's eyes shot open in surprise to see none other than Shego standing over his bed with her arms folded. She was wearing black sports shorts and a black sports tank top. Shego's appearance hadn't changed that much since the last time Lloyd had seen her ten years ago, only her black hair had a few streaks of silver on both sides of her head. Shego also still had black lipstick and black painted fingernails like always, and with the sports clothes she wore, Lloyd had to admit that she looked pretty sexy.
"Uh, alright," Lloyd said, still sounding a bit tired. "I'm up now".
He slowly got out of bed, rubbing his eyes and yawning.
"Well, it's about time," Shego scoffed. "Even after sleeping for ten years, you were still out like a light".
"Probably due to the effects of being in cryo-sleep," Lloyd replied, climbing out of bed and sliding on a pair of black slip on shoes over his feet. "Dr. Kyoka told me that this is common for those who have been treated in cryo-pods. Small traces of the sleeping agents that puts the patient asleep in the pod remains in your system for about twelve hours before fully wearing off, so it can make you pretty sleepy even after waking up from cryo-sleep".
"Yeah yeah, I know," Shego replied. "I actually kept an eye on you whenever I could while you slept in the cryo-pod, waiting for the day that you'd wake up".
"You did?" Lloyd asked, a bit surprised.
"Yeah, you saved my life that night ten years ago," Shego replied, smiling a bit. "So I thought I'd watch over you whenever I could. Dr. Kyoka and Dr. Director had no issue with it and actually thought that the idea of having a bodyguard around your pod was a good idea".
Lloyd briefly remembered that moment when Ridley was about to vaporize Shego with his ships laser cannon, only for Lloyd to shove her out of the way and take the hit instead. That had all seemed like it had happened just yesterday, when in reality, ten years had passed since that night. Lloyd still had many mixed emotions about being in cryo-sleep for ten years. While he was slightly relieved about avoiding the horrors of the world under Black Shadow rule due to being asleep, Lloyd still felt slightly upset about losing ten years of his life, and even more upset that the world was now under the rule of a tyrannical cyborg who had no problem killing people who rebelled against the tyrannical laws and regulations he had forced upon the globe in the name of peace. What was worse was that this cyborg possessed the same Red Rage powers as Ron did before he had been killed in the factory explosion that also killed Team Possible, making it impossible for anyone to resist him.
"Um... thanks," Lloyd replied, standing up. "Also, Betty told me about Drew Lipsky being captured by Emperor Deathshadow. Was he... he killed?".
The second Lloyd mentioned Deathshadow, Shego suddenly rushed forward and pinned him against the wall by his shirt with an expression of what Lloyd could only describe as pure hatred and rage.
"NEVER... and mean, NEVER mention THAT name in front of me EVER again," Shego hissed in a serious tone. "I'm deadly serious, Florence! I can't even begin to tell you how much I despise hearing people talking about that monster who sits in the White House ruling this whole fucking world like it's his".
"I'm aware of what he's done," Lloyd shot back calmly. "I read over some of the historical data on the Global Empire that Dr. Director gave me last night, and I'm quite aware of the crimes that cyborg committed. Also, Betty told me about what he did to your family, and you have my sympathies".
Shego exhaled aggressive and kneeled her head down, her expression turning to that of sadness and anger, then she loosened her grip on Lloyd's shirt and shoved him away from her.
"Just drop the subject and follow me to Betty's quarters," Shego snapped in a tone of defeat. "She wants to speak to you about some stuff".
As Lloyd followed Shego out the door and into the long hall, he said, "Shego, I really mean it. I'm really sorry about your family, and about what happened to you. I wish I could have been there to help you instead of being stuffed in that cryo-pod".
Shego glared back at him and said in a warning tone of voice, "I told you to forget it! And besides, it's not like you would have been able to help anyone. That cyborg would've killed you as well, or in the worst case scenario, captured you and did God knows what to you in his torture factory of a dungeon like he did to...".
Shego paused, and Lloyd knew why. He remembered Betty telling him about Shego being captured and tortured by Emperor Deathshadow for information, then ending up psychologically and mentally broken from whatever he had done to her. Lloyd guessed that Shego was about to mention this, but decided not to since the memory was too painful for her to bring up.
"No need to tell me, Shego," Lloyd replied calmly. "I'll just drop it. I won't force you to tell me if you don't want to".
"Good, and you'd better just keep your mouth shut about that cyborg fucker whenever your around me, cause if I hear you mention him again in my presence," Shego raised one of her fists which glowed bright green. "I won't hesitate to shut you up by force".
Lloyd felt very unsettled by Shego's attitude and her sudden violent tendencies whenever she got really angry. Shego had always been a bit of a hot head, even after retiring from being a villain, and would sometimes get visibly annoyed and frustrated whenever someone bothered her. However, Shego had clearly changed and was acting far more aggressive and angry than before, but Lloyd couldn't blame her. Betty had said that the horrible experience of losing her family to Deathshadow, along with Drew Lipsky, and then being tortured had changed Shego's personality drastically. She was far more easily angered, stressed, and clearly depressed than she had been ten years ago. Lloyd felt sorry for her and wondered if there was anything he could do to help her, but decided not to pressure Shego any further, as she was clearly not willing to talk about it any further. Still, Lloyd didn't find it very pleasant being talked to so aggressively.
"There's no need to be so violent, Shego. I understand you quite well," Lloyd replied in a harsh tone. "Also, I'd appreciate it if you'd stop treating me so harshly. After all, I did save your life ten years ago, and I'm quite thankful that you kept watch over me while I was inside that pod".
Shego sighed in frustration, then said, "Just... just shut up and follow me".
Lloyd decided to leave it at that and continued following Shego down the hall towards Dr. Directors quarters. Once they made it to the end of the hall, Lloyd saw a large door to the left and entered it with Shego. These quarters looked similar to Lloyd's, only much wider and larger, and it was more luxurious. At the end of the room in front of Lloyd and Shego was a large desk where Dr. Director sat, still wearing her tank top and pants.
"Ah, there you are, Lloyd. Thanks for getting him, Shego" Betty said, nodding at Shego.
"Nothing to it" Shego said simply, but with a hint of unease in her voice.
"Something happen? You seem upset" Betty asked, noticing Shego's obvious distress.
"No, there isn't" Shego snapped, glaring briefly at Lloyd.
"Care to explain what that was about?" Betty questioned suspiciously.
"Shego got a little upset when I brought up the topic of Dr. Drakken. You never told me what happened to him, but I'm assuming he was killed" Lloyd replied.
Betty's expression turned grim, then she said, "That's what I'm assuming happened, because Deathshadow bragged to Shego about "putting Drew in his place" while fighting her. Also, if your wanting to know how I know why Deathshadow kidnapped Drew, the answer's right there".
Betty gestured over to the corner of the room where Shego stood with her arms folded and glaring at the wall, only she turned around when Betty mentioned her, and she didn't look happy.
"Don't bring that cyborg asshole up again! You know how much I hate even hearing his name, let alone talking about him" Shego snapped.
"Shego, I understand your hatred towards Deathshadow. None of us like him either, but I need Lloyd to be caught up on what happened when he was asleep in that cryo-pod for the last ten years of his life" Betty insisted.
"Shego, Betty told me earlier about some of the things he did to you, and I can't blame you for hating him," Lloyd said. "But I don't understand why you have to get so hostile every time Deathshadows mentioned. I've only learned so much about him ever since I came out of that pod, and I still know so very little about what happened".
"Do I look like I give a shit?! Unlike you, I wasn't able to sleep the last ten years away without a care! No, I had to watch that monster murder my entire family simply for trying to do the right thing, and then when I tried to stop him...," Shego paused, clearly unsettled by whatever memory she was recalling upon. "The things he did to me... said to me... and what he did to Drew".
Lloyd now noticed tears in Shego's eyes, and he realized right there and then that Deathshadow had clearly done more than just beat her and probe her mind. Shego was always a hardened person, quick to frustrate and anger, but still very smart and not one to usually lose control of her emotions like this. Deathshadow had broken her in some way that now made Lloyd very concerned, and even a bit scared. What kind of power did he have to reduce Shego to this?
"Shego... just what did Deathshadow do to you? I won't force you to tell me, but I need to know," Lloyd insisted. "I need to know just what it is I'm up against. I want to fight alongside the resistance and help end Deathshadows reign of tyranny, but I can't do that if I don't know what I'm up against".
"Shego, I can tell him if you don't want to, but Lloyd has the right to know" Betty offered.
Shego tilted her head down, then said, "You won't win against that... that fucking murderous monster! His power is almost on a God like level, and even my abilities were no match for him. You try to resist Deathshadow, you die. Its that fucking simple! You wanna know what he did to me so badly?! Fine! I might as well tell you the full, hardened truth of just who your up against, and its a long and pitiful story! So listen well, cause I WON'T repeat myself afterwards!".
*Flashback: Ten years ago, one month after Lloyd entered cryosleep; 2010 AD*
"You sure that its even safe to be back in this lair? The Black Shadow's pretty much ruling the whole planet at this point, and they might come after us" Shego asked Drew in a worried voice.
"They've lost their two best leaders, Ridley Farcus and Erin Faust, and their new appointed Emperor doesn't seem to care about us too much. Plus, we've been in hiding for at least a month within the Global Justice hideout underground, so I doubt they'll come looking for us" Drakken replied.
"Don't know what could have happened to them. Maybe this new Emperor killed them to take the throne or something" Shego guessed.
"I honestly could care less about them. They were sickos, and they got whatever they deserved" Drakken replied.
Just then, the sound of the front metal door being pounded could be heard from nearby, startling the two ex-villains.
"Shit, you think that might be Black Shadow?" Shego exclaimed fearfully.
"I don't know, but I'll check it out" Drew replied, then walked towards the door and switched on the security camera for the front door.
What he saw struck fear into him. A tall figure stood at the door in some sort of black outfit and covered in machines with a scary looking helmet on its head.
"Who are you? If your with Black Shadow, you better get out of here, or I won't be afraid to use force" Drew warned the figure using the door speaker built into the metal frame.
In response, the figure suddenly kicked the door clean off the frame with his foot, as if it were just a small piece of cardboard. The figure then entered the lair, now in full view. Judging from the shape of the figure, it was clear that it was a man, though he had tons of strange cybernetic machines attached to his body along with two red and black hoses attached to the front of a metal ring around his chest. His helmet had two triangle shaped eye lens that gave it an angry expression, and they glowed bright red.
"I am not with Black Shadow, you pathetic idiot," the cyborg man growled in an intimidating robotic voice. "On the contrary, I intend to destroy that disgusting organization, and your going to help me do it".
Before Drakken could even respond, a large ball of green plasma struck the cyborg, sending him flying off to the side and into a nearby wall. Shego had jumped in front of Drakken, hands glowing bright green.
"He's not interested, you freak!" Shego yelled at the cyborg.
The cyborg man quickly got back up, glaring at Shego with a sound that could only be described as a growl of anger. He then did something that shocked both Drakken and Shego. The cyborg raised one of his hands and unleashed jets of red lightning from his fingers, striking Shego right in the chest and sending her flying into a glass shelf, shattering it into pieces.
"You dare raise your hands against me?!" the cyborg yelled angrily, standing up and suddenly drawing out a sword from a sheath on his back.
To Drakkens surprise, it changed shape and formed into a Chinese broadsword. He had only seen one sword that could do that, and that had been the Lotus Blade that he had tried to get his hands on so long ago.
"Hey, that's the Lotus Blade! Where did you get that?" Drakken demanded.
The cyborg ignored his question and charged at Shego, who had gotten back up from the floor, her outfit slashed up from the broken class and drawing blood. She managed to dodge the cyborg as he swung the broadsword at her, then struck him with her foot, landing a blow on the metal ring around his chest. The cyborg suddenly yelled in pain and doubled over, leaving him open to attack. Shego raised her hands at the cyborg, ready to strike him in the head, but he was far faster than she thought. He spun around and stabbed the sword right in her thigh, causing Shego to yell in agony. The cyborg yanked the sword out and then violently punched Shego in the head, knocking her to the ground, completely unconscious.
"SHEGO!" Drakken yelled, running towards her.
However, the cyborg suddenly grabbed Shego by the throat and yanked her up, then raised the broadsword at her head which then transformed into a hand gun. Drakken didn't recall the Lotus Blade being able to transform into projectile based weapons like guns, but it made little difference at the moment.
"Stop where you are right now, or I'll blow her fucking head off" the cyborg growled, breathing heavily.
Drakken skidded to a stop, then felt his blood turn to ice upon seeing the gun.
"P-please! What do you want?! Let Shego go!" Drew pleaded.
"Then you will agree to my demands," the cyborg replied coldly. "The syntho-drone blueprints and the machines to build them; I need them, and you will assist me in building them".
"What?! Syntho-drones? Why do you need those?" Drew questioned, his heart still rushing.
"Black Shadow must be eliminated, and even with the powers I possess, I can't do it alone," the cyborg replied. "I need an army, a powerful army, and your syntho-drones will make good soldiers".
"I cancelled that project because of how easily they can be destroyed" Drakken protested.
"No, I have plans for a new breed of syntho-drones, ones that will be nearly invincible," the cyborg shot back. "Your going to help me create them, and this isn't an option".
"H-how?" Drakken stammered.
"I obtained DNA from an alien creature code named Experiment 626, and with it, it'll make these breeds of syntho-drones unstoppable," the cyborg replied. "Your going to build them for me, and like I said, its not an option. Either you agree to help me, or I can end Shego right here and now, and then your mother will be next".
Drakken knew at this point that fighting back was pointless. He wouldn't let Shego or his mother fall victim to this cyborg because of his refusal, so he did what had to be done.
"F-fine! I'll do it! Just let Shego go, please," Drakken pleaded. "She... she means the world to me".
The cyborg was silent for a few seconds, assumedly contemplating over what Drew said, then violently threw Shego to the ground and glared back at Drakken.
"Listen well, Drew Lipsky," the cyborg began. "As of today, you work for me, and only me. Should I find out that you are trying to deceive me, run from me or hide from me, I will hunt you down along with whatever family you have and bring you their severed heads on a pike. Then you and Shego will die as well. I want Black Shadow dead, and I'm sure you want Black Shadow dead as well, so you should have no need to fight me on this. I possess abilities that go far beyond any human on the planet, so don't even try fighting me, or you will die".
"H-how can I even trust you?! How do I even know you won't use those drones to take Black Shadow's place?! Just... just who the hell are you?!" Drakken shot back, his voice stammering in fear.
The cyborg clenched his fists and said in an angry voice, "I was a human being like you once, but then Black Shadow took that from me! They destroyed my ninja clan in a nuclear blast which nearly killed me, then Ridley took my battered and broken body back to his hideout where he turned me into this! He tried to brainwash me, but I killed him and the rest of his pathetic followers in that blasted hideout of his. Ridley took everything from me, and now, I will do the same and burn his Empire to the ground! I will leave only death in their wake, a shadow of death! I am Deathshadow, a warrior lost and reborn, and I will liberate this world from the monsters that have enslaved it".
"Y-you did it?! You killed Ridley?" Drew exclaimed in shock.
"Yes, I slaughtered him like the animal he was, and I'll do the same to the rest of Black Shadow," Deathshadow replied. "And your syntho-drones will help me do it".
Drew wasn't sure what to think. Deathshadow clearly wanted Black Shadow gone, and he had abilities that went far beyond even Shego, yet something in his mind told him that there was something very wrong about this cyborg. A part of him said that giving Deathshadow an army to destroy Black Shadow would really be doing the world a favor, but what would he do afterwards?
"What will you do once Black Shadow is gone?" Drakken questioned suspiciously.
"Once their Empire has fallen, so will the puppet Governments controlling the world, and I will unite the planet as a single one world Government. I will build a peaceful Empire in Black Shadows place and ensure that all crime and corruption is permanently eliminated for good. Criminal organizations, criminal gangs, corruption cops, you name it... all gone. You won't have to worry about losing anyone you love ever again, and I'll make sure of it" Deathshadow explained.
"You threatened to kill Shego and my mother! What makes you think I'll believe anything your telling me" Drew snapped.
"Weather you believe me or not, I don't care," Deathshadow hissed. "Just know that if you defy me or attempt to deceive me in anyway, you will find your mother and Shego dead in your personal quarters, and don't think you'll go unpunished either. Black Shadow WILL be eliminated, and you should consider yourself honored to have a hand in destroying Black Shadow, so you'd best know your place".
"I hope your not planning to control peoples lives with these things," Drakken replied coldly. "I'm betting everything that your planning to do that".
"What I plan to do afterwards is none of your business. Now I suggest you do as I tell you, lest you face the consequences" Deathshadow warned coldly.
"Shego needs help first," Drakken snapped, glancing down at Shego, who's leg was bleeding heavily. "She's losing lots of blood".
Deathshadow walked over to Shego and knelt beside her, grabbing her wounded leg and muttering something under his breath. A red glow appeared over Shego's leg and the wound resealed itself, then he stood back up.
"She'll be fine for now... unless you try to defy me" Deathshadow said.
"I... I'll do whatever you want. Just leave Shego and my mother alone" Drakken stammered in defeat.
"Good," Deathshadow replied. "Show me to wherever the drones are made. I'll provide you the DNA sample I have from 626 to genetically enhance the drones, and I'll need lots of them".
Drakken said nothing as he picked up Shego in his arms. She was still out cold, but whatever Deathshadow had done with that strange power of his, her injuries had been healed. Drew carried her to her room with Deathshadow following him all the way, making sure he didn't try to escape. Once Shego was in her room, Drew left the room and lead Deathshadow to the syntho-drone cloning room. He hadn't used that room in years since he retired from being a villain, yet Drew knew that he had no other choice. This cyborg clearly meant business, and Drew may have actually felt a bit sorry for him if it wasn't for the fact that he threatened to kill Shego and his mother if he refused to give Deathshadow what he wanted. The Black Shadow clearly messed up this cyborg in ways Drakken didn't even want to know, and it drove him down the path of vengeance. While Drew wanted the Black Shadow gone, he still didn't trust Deathshadow, and probably never would. He still wasn't sure if his threats were just a scare tactic or not, but given that Deathshadow nearly killed Shego, Drew was pretty sure they were serious. He could only hope that Deathshadow's only intent was to use the syntho-drones for the purpose of wiping out Black Shadow, but he knew there had to be more to it than that. What would be done with the drones once Black Shadow was gone and they were no longer needed?
Drakken only had theories at this point, theories that scared him, but he couldn't refuse. Deathshadow was a powerful force to be reckoned with, and defying him would result in Shego and his mother being killed. Being the genius Drew was though, he figured that if he could possibly get to know Deathshadow a bit more and gain his trust, maybe it was possible that he could get the cyborg to spill more of his secrets on what exactly it was he was planning. If Drakken could find out his weaknesses, he could possibly exploit them and save his own skin along with his mother and Shego. Ms. Lipsky had been sent into hiding with Betty Director, so Drakken was sure Deathshadow wouldn't find her, and this gave Drew some relief. However, if Deathshadow really wanted her dead, he'd most likely torture Drakken for her location and he didn't want this.
"I don't know what this psycho really intends to do, but it looks like I'll have to play his little game for now until I can find out more about him," Drew thought. "The worlds already gone to shit with Black Shadow ruling it, but if Deathshadow really wants them dead, maybe he won't be so much trouble. I just need to keep him from getting pissed off".
Drew eventually reached the syntho-drone lab deep within his lair, then said to Deathshadow, "When do we start?".
A/N: Shego sure hates Deathshadow, and this is only the beginning of her long flashback story. Just who do you think Deathshadow really is behind the visor? The answer will come soon...
