All the leaders were gathered to discuss Amandil's plea.
"If they leave without committing violence, cast out the Abhorrent One, and repent of their ways," Manwë said, "they may be spared."
Ingwë cried out. "They have flouted your decree already, Airë. They shall not heed demands brought by Herald Eonwë!"
"They might listen to a closer friend of their ancestors," said Arafinwë. "But I would not have my son go all alone."
"For this, a small escort would be better than a large one," the Friend of Men said. "Ten. No more."
"Only ten?"
"Yes. But not just any ten."
