Donna was getting ready for bed. "That was some day, huh?" she asked.
"You got me, kiddo," Rocket replied. "After returning Fat Albert to TV Land, I'll be wanting to take a snooze."
Just then, Donna's mother came in. "Donna," said Lea, "Groot is having trouble falling asleep. Maybe a bedtime story can help put him to sleep."
"I am Groot (But I'm not tired Mom!)" Groot shouted.
"Groot," said Lea, "you need your sleep."
"I am Groot (Okay, Mommy)," Groot replied.
"Maybe you could read him a bedtime story," Ben suggested.
"Good idea, Dad" Donna replied.
Donna thought about reading from the OABOYI but remembered all the chaos they got into. She tried to find a book that would put her kid brother to sleep, but couldn't seem to find one.
That's when Ben got out a book called "Gnomeo and Juliet," which he got from the library today.
"I have to read this," Donna smiled. "Hopefully it'll get baby Groot to sleep."
"That book is for babies," Rocket sneered as Ben and Lea glared at him.
"It's a gnome retelling of the Shakespeare tale," Lea replied, "where there isn't much death."
"Whatever," Rocket grumbled.
Vee started playing Elton John's "Crocodile Rock."
I remember when rock was young
Me and Suzie had so much fun
Holding hands and skimming stones
Had an old gold Chevy and a place of my own
But the biggest kick I ever got
Was doing a thing called the Crocodile Rock
While the other kids were rocking round the clock
We were hopping and bopping to the Crocodile Rock
Well crocodile rocking is something shocking
When your feet just can't keep still
I never knew me a better time and I guess I never will
Oh, Lawdy mama, those Friday nights
When Suzie wore her dresses tight
And the crocodile rocking was out of sight
La lalalala la lalalala la lalalala la
But the years went by and the rock just died
Suzie went and left us for some foreign guy
Long nights crying by the record machine
Dreaming of my Chevy and my old blue jeans
But they'll never kill the thrills we've got
Burning up to the Crocodile Rock
Learning fast as the weeks went past
We really thought the Crocodile Rock would last
"Calm down, Vee," urged Ben. "It's storytime."
"Dad, can I ask you something?" said Donna. "What made you think of 'Gnomeo and Juliet'?"
"When you were a kid you were petrified by CLST reenacting 'Romeo and Juliet' when Lec told you that they both died in the end," Ben recalled. "We scolded Lec for making you cry."
"How can I forget?" groaned Donna.
"So we decided a kiddy variant of 'Romeo and Juliet' would do just fine."
"I heard they had a movie with the same guy who played Professor X in the 2010s," Donna replied.
"I am Groot (What about my bedtime story?)" Groot asked.
"Sorry," Donna replied as she started reading.
Once upon a time in England, there were two families, the Montagues and the Capulets, who hated each other worse than death.
