Over the next few days, Jack and Harry helped out with the Guardians the best they could, mainly in helping to make toys and test them to see if they worked correctly.
When they weren't doing that, they were doing their summer homework, using the Pole's library rather than their beds as Harry admitted he had been doing.
One of the good things about having a 300 year old best friend from America, is that they know a lot about their history.
Because of this, Harry rewrote his Salem Witch Trials report for History of Magic.
It also turned out that Sandy knew quite a bit about space for Astronomy and told Harry who to recognize new and dying stars.
Tooth mainly made sure both boys were eating right.
Bunny taught Harry some non-magical self-defense, with the main tip as 'Use your opponent's body weight against them'.
And North let Harry and Jack help the stable Yeti's tend to the reindeer.
A couple of nights before the first of September, Harry asked the Guardians about signing his permission form for Hogsmeade.
"Sorry Harry, but we can't," Tooth said placing a hand on his shoulder "The form clearly says a parent or a guardian. And none of us are either of those things."
"Hey buck up lad," Bunny said as he felt Harry's hope fall a little "Maybe you can go next year?"
"Yeah sure..." Harry said not really believing that but agreeing.
"If you want I can stay in the school with you on those weekends," Jack said knowing how it felt to be left out of things.
"No it's ok if you want to go those weekends you can go," Harry said taking the form and heading to his room to put it back into his trunk.
On the first of September, Jack and the Guardians took this 'Make Me Human' potion and they and Harry snow-globed to Kings Cross Station in London.
"Hopefully there isn't a House Elf blocking the barrier this time," Jack said to Harry who nodded and went first with Tooth and Bunny.
Jack soon followed with North and Sandy and they start looking for a compartment to share.
Along the way they met Neville Longbottom and his Grandmother, who was asking if he had everything.
"I think so Gran," he said nodding before he spotted them "Jack! Harry!" he called out waving an arm to get their attention.
"Neville. One does not shout out and wave their arms like idiots," his grandmother said firmly making him stop and blush a little as they came over.
"Hello Neville," Jack said smiling before bowing slightly to his grandmother "And good day to you Mrs Longbottom."
Augusta was slightly surprised that this boy was being so polite.
"Well good day to you too young man," she said holding out her hand for him to shake. "I take it you're Jack Frost and his family?" she asked looking at the Guardians.
"That is correct ma'am," Tooth said smiling, trying to ignore the woman's stuffed vulture hat.
"Yes, and then you must be Harry Potter," she said looking to Harry, who once again was wearing his hat to help hide his scar.
"Um, yes Ma'am," he said giving a small bow like Jack did.
"Well it's nice to see that being stuck with Muggles hasn't made you as rude and uncivilized as them." Augusta said in an annoyed voice. "Why Albus thought you would be better off there when my son and his wife were supposed to be your guardians after James's friends I don't know."
"To be fair Ma'am," Jack said smiling "Not all Muggles are rude and bad. Just like not all Witches and Wizards are good."
"Hmm... I suppose," Augusta said firmly, looking to Neville at this but Jack had the feeling that it wasn't towards him these feelings from her were going.
While Augusta and the Guardians were talking, Neville said that he took up Jack's advice and over the summer had gotten a new wand.
"Gran wasn't happy about it though," he said saying he'll show them the magic stick during the train ride. "It was my dad's wand see, and she wants me to be just like him."
Harry was looking out for the Weasley's and/or Hermione, but no large crowds of red headed families were on the station yet.
"Well I'm sure once she hears how much better you are with your magic she'll change her mind," Jack said smiling.
"Neville." Augusta said getting the boys attention.
"Yes Gran?" Neville asked looking up at her.
"These kind people say they will see you off," she said gesturing to the Guardians "I need to be getting home and make sure Algiee hasn't accidentally set fire to the curtains in the drawing room again."
"Ok Gran." Neville said calmly as Jack was trying not to laugh at what Augusta just said.
Once everyone had given her room, she turned on the spot and disapparated with a small pop.
"Whoa," Jack said staring at the spot where she had just been.
"That's called Apparating," Neville said knowing they might not know "It's a kind of traveling, but you need to be over 17 to do it yourself and you need a license. It's vanishing from one spot and appearing in another."
"Like teleporting?" Harry asked understanding.
"Um, yeah sorta," Neville said trying to get his trunk into the train, not really sure what 'Teleporting' was.
As they came back out to say goodbye, the Weasley's finally arrived.
"Oh Harry, there you are, you're all right yes? Where have you been these last few weeks?" Molly Weasley asked hugging him.
"He's been living with us Mrs Weasley," North said kindly placing a hand on the boys shoulder and gently pulling him away.
As the Guardians explained what happened to Molly, Jack spotted Arthur asking Harry if his could have a private word.
Curious, Jack went over to them.
"Harry, swear to me that you won't go looking for Black." Mr Weasley said in a mixed pleading and demanding hushed voice.
"What?" Harry asked staring in surprise.
There was a loud whistle and guards were banging and checking the doors were all shut properly.
"Promise me Harry," Mr Weasley said, talking really fast now "No matter what happens –"
"This might be a strange question to ask sir," Jack said getting their attention "But, why would anyone go looking for someone who wants to harm/kill them?"
Jumping a little, not seeing Jack was there, Mr Weasley missed his chance to explain by Mrs Weasley calling out "Arthur, quickly!"
Steam was puffing out of the engine and it had slowly started to move.
Quickly Harry and Jack ran to the compartment door where Ron threw it open, letting them inside, turning around Jack leaned out the window to wave goodbye at the Guardians and kept it up until the station was out of view.
Behind him, Jack herd Harry tell Ron and Hermione "I need to tell you something in private."
"Go away Ginny," said Ron in an uncaring voice.
"Oh that's nice," Ginny said huffily and stalked off.
After glaring at the youngest male Weasley, and giving him a punch in the arm, Jack went off after her, trusting what Harry wanted to tell his friends wasn't anything to do with him or his family.
Catching up with her, Jack suggested they go looking for Neville.
"Ok," she said smiling a little.
"I think it was down this way," Jack said helping her with her trunk "Come on."

After a few minutes they found the right compartment, where Neville was sitting by himself reading some Herbology books.
"Hey Nev," Jack said opening the door and putting Ginny's trunk in the luggage rack for her.
"Hey Jack, Ginny," he said smiling at both of them then to Jack "You want to see my new wand then?"
"Sure," Jack said sitting down after pulling out a pack of cards from his own trunk.
Smiling Neville marked his page and set the book down, then went into his trunk and pulled out a wand box and carefully opened it.
"Cherry and unicorn hair," Neville said calmly "13 inches. And although flexible, surprising strong."
"Cherry wands are meant to be really rare," Ginny said asking if she could hold it.
"Maybe in this country," Jack said shuffling the cards "Not so much in Japan. But as long as it chose you this time Neville."
"Oh it did," he said smiling "It took a whole half an hour, to find it and almost 180 tries. But finally I found the right one."
Carefully Neville put the magical stick back into its box and then put that back into his trunk. "Where's Harry?" he asked.
"Wanting a few private words with Ron and Hermione about Sirius Black," Jack said in an uncaring voice checking his cards he dealt himself for Rummy.
After a little while Jack asked "Who are these 'Black's' anyway? I mean I know one Black, but I doubt he has any relation to these people."
"The Black's are one of the biggest, oldest, and wealthiest wizarding families in Britain." Neville said "One of the Sacred 28."
"The what?" Jack asked raising an eyebrow.
"They are the families who have stuck to being Purebloods, meaning never marrying anyone who isn't one, so most Pureblood families are related to each other in some way." Neville said "Ginny and my families are on that list."
"Yeah but they are also one of the families more into the Dark Arts, nearly all of them being in Slytherin. Mum says that as far as she knows only Sirius, Andromeda Tonks, and her daughter Nymphadora of being the acceptations."

As the train was moving along though the country side, Jack having won yet another round of rummy, and the talk about wizard families having died a while ago, the lunch trolley came by.
"Anything off the trolley dears?" the old witch said gently.
Jack got up and went to stock up of some sweets and sandwiches and a few chocolate frogs.
Ginny saying she had sandwiches and Neville saying he wasn't hungry.
"So, what new subjects are you taken Neville?" Jack asked after taking a bite from his sandwich,
"Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, and Ancient Runes, Gran said I should take that one." he said quietly.
Jack was about to tuck into a chocolate frog, when Elisa and Annie came by and knocked on the door.
"Hey guys," Elisa said waving a little "Can we join you?"
"Sure" they all said smiling, then frowned and plugged their noses.
"What the flip is that?!" Ginny asked trying to open the window.
"Sorry..." Annie said blushing "One of the boys we were sharing a compartment with accidentally dropped a pack of stink-bombs as he was looking for his money bag for the trolley."
"You might want to Scourgify yourself before we get to Hogwarts then," Neville suggested.
"We've tried that," Elisa said sighing "But it won't go away."
"Well let's just hope that with you sitting next to the windows all the rest of the way there, the smell will go away then" Ginny said giving up her seat so Annie could sit there instead.
"So..." Elisa said blushing a little, looking at Jack, as she sat on the opposite bench by the window "Not exactly the best 'First hello' of the year is it?"
"Not really," Jack said trying to find some fun in this "But hey, if there's a fire or emergency, you girls will probably have right of way, right?"
"Oh? And why's that?" Elisa asked raising an eyebrow.
"Because, with everyone being knocked out from the smell you're giving off, they won't be crowding up the corridors." Ginny said rewrapping her sandwiches not feeling hungry anymore.
Soon they got into what they did that summer.
"I saw your picture in the Profit Ginny," Neville said smiling "Congrats on winning that money."
"What's this?" Jack asked acting over surprised "Ginny Weasley won some money?"
"No, Jack, not me. My dad did." she said pulling out a photo from her trunk from the Daily Profit of all her family smiling and waving in front of a group of pyramids. "700 Galleons. Most of it was spent on that trip to Egypt, but there's still some left."
"Hope Ron's got a new wand too," Jack said remembering what happened at the end of last year.
"Yeah he does. Thankfully, the Ministry agrees it was because of Lockhart that the old one got broken so he had to pay the money for the new wand." Ginny said smiling.
It was raining now and it was getting dark outside.
Annie and Elisa were about to say what they did that summer when the train started slowing down and soon came to a halt.
"What's going on?" Elisa said sounding confused "We can't be there yet."
Confused but being closet to the door, Jack got up and looked out where he saw dozens of other heads sticking out of their compartments and looking around too.
Soon the train rocked and the lights went out.
"What's going on?" Neville's scared voice asked.
"There's something out there..." Annie's voice said "I think... I think people are coming aboard."
"How?" Elisa asked "We've stopped over a 50 foot high bridge."
"I'm going to go find Ron," Ginny said, sounding scared and getting up.
"No Ginny I think it's better if – " Jack started to say but the sound of the door opening and closing told everyone she had already left.
"Well, I for one don't want to stay in the dark," Elisa said firmly "Lumos," a small ball of light was shining at the end of her wand.
Liking the idea, Jack was about to stand up to look in his trunk for his wand, but soon he felt... strange.
Slowly he sat back down and started shivering.
"Jack?" Neville's voice called out to him, but he didn't listen. "Jack snap out of it!"
"Jack, what's wrong?" Annie said scared, trying to catch him as he slid off the seat and onto the floor of the compartment.
"I'm going to go try and get some help!" Neville said, his new wand in his hand lit up too, and left.
Slowly Jack curled up into a ball muttering things like "No. Not that. Emma. Emma come back!"
"Who's Emma?" Annie asked in a whisper as Elisa knelt beside him.
"I think... Emma was his sister he lost on the ice that day," she said gently playing with his hair.
"LISTEN TO ME!" Jack then screamed and started fighting with himself.
It started to get really cold.
Not Jack's cold which the girls have gotten used to, this was a different cold, it was darker, meaner, one that had no life to it, and seemed to be coming from out in the corridor.
"Elisa... I scared..." Annie said timidly joining them on the floor, trying to help calm Jack down.
Elisa was about to say something but Jack got to it first.
"I know," he said still out of it a little but staring up at Annie "But it's going to be alright... Nothing bad will happen... We're going to have some fun instead..."
And with that he closed his eyes and went back to being curled up into a ball and doing a mix of shivering and fighting with himself, but thankfully he was still breathing.
Soon a large silver wolf came running down the corridor and looked into their compartment, phased through the door and leapt over to Jack, before curling up around him.
The girls, surprised backed off a little, staring at it but calmed down as they saw Jack slowly stopped fidgeting.
A few minutes later the lights came on again and a man came to the door.
"Is everyone alright?" he asked his wand in his hand.
"We are sir," Elisa said from where she was "But our friend..."
"I see," he said coming to have a closer look "Well the Dementor's are all gone now and we'll start up again soon. Here," he said handing Elisa a bar of chocolate "If he wakes up before we get there give him this."
"What are Dementor's?" Annie asked worried.
"They're the guards of Azkaban, they were searching the train for Sirius Black." the man said before waving his wand, making the wolf vanish and saying he was going to check on the other compartments.
"Who was that?" Annie asked Elisa as they carefully lifted Jack to lie across the seats.
"My guess is he's the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher," she said sitting down and letting Jack's head rest in her lap.
"You think he's going to be ok?" Annie asked looking to Jack.
Elisa didn't answer and just looked out the window as the train started moving again.
