Harry Ron and Hermione were the first to reach the Great Hall that night, hoping to see either Jack or Hagrid but neither one of them was there.
"Guys!" Elisa called out coming over with her sister "I've just heard what happened, do you know if Jack's ok?"
"We think he will be," Harry said before looking up at the Teacher's Table "But we're not sure about Hagrid."
"They wouldn't sack him would they?" Hermione asked anxiously, not touching her food.
"They better not," Ron said looking over and glaring at the Slytherins, who were all gathered together supposedly coming up with their own story about what happened in the lesson today.
Not feeling hungry, Harry suggested they go and check on Jack in the Hospital Wing.
Everyone agreed, although Ron did nick a few bread rolls and sausages off the table before they left.
When they got there they found Jack's family there around his bed.
"Guys!" Harry called out quietly seeing Jack was, topless and on his side, sleeping.
"Harry," Tooth said getting up and hugging him asking if he was alright and how he had been doing.
"I'm fine, I'm fine," he said pulling himself away to slight giggles from the Dale sisters "How's Jack?" he asked.
"He'll live," Madam Pomfery said coming over to see what the fuss was about. "Stupid thing for him to do though, getting in the way of a raging Hippogriff like that."
"He was doing it to stop Buckbeak hurting Malfoy," Ron said firmly wanting to make the facts known "It was that idiot's fault for not listening to Hagrid, and insulting him."
"And why exactly was Hagrid showing first lesson third years Hippogriff's to begin with, ay?" Bunny asked, arms crossed and leaning against the foot of one of the opposite beds.
"Well what should he have been showing us?" Harry asked letting Baby Tooth nest in his hair.
"I'd say something a little closer to the start of that book he told you all to get," Bunny said shrugging "But what do I know?"
"Not how to keep quiet... that's for sure..." a small groan filled voice said making everyone turn to see Jack had woken up.
Pushing herself to the front Madam Pomfery asked "How do you feel Mr Frost?"
"Uggghhh..." Jack said rolling onto his back before crying out in pain a little, the marks on his back still sore.
Quickly but gently, North pulled Jack into a sitting position so his back wasn't against the mattress.
Rolling her eyes, the matron pulled out her wand and did a quick diagnosis charm over Jack, focusing on his back, a parchment and quill hovering in mid-air writing everything thing it picked up.
When it was done, Madam Pomfery looked it over and asked to speak to North.
Nodding they walked off a little to talk, leaving the others there.
"What's that about?" Ron asked helping himself to one of the bread rolls.
"Probably picked up something she wasn't expecting to find," Jack said, ruffling up the back of his hair – something he often did when he was nervous.
"Oh?" Elisa said a little red herself, seeing him without a shirt "Like what?"
"Yeah, Like I'd tell you Elisa," Jack said grinning, liking how red she was. "Maybe you should be seen by her," he said shooting his eyes to Madam Pomfery "You look like you're getting a fever."
At this Sandy giggled to himself silently, Tooth shunned him for making Elisa blush harder, and Bunny whacked him on the back of his head.
While the boys were clueless, Hermione rolled her eyes and Annie started getting all excited.
Humphing, Elisa turned and left everyone there, Annie close to follow after her after hugging Jack.
Soon Madam Pomfery came back with a bottle of ointment and some clean rags supposedly which are going to be used to spread said ointment over his back, hopefully healing the scars faster.
"Now Mr Frost this might sting a little, but the less you struggle, the sooner it will be finished," she said as she was about to start waiting for him to nod in understanding.
"Ok..." he said taking a deep breath and grabbing onto Tooth and Bunny's hands for support.
"We'll leave you then Jack," Harry said smiling, knowing if this was him he'd want to be alone while the nurse treated him.
"Thanks guys," Jack said in an undistinguishable grateful/sarcastic voice, but smiled as Baby Tooth came back to him.
The next morning, Harry, Ron and Hermione went to see Jack before classes.
Madam Pomfery strongly said that he wasn't going anywhere until she was sure all the Hippogriff venom was gone, and that could take a few days.
"How's Hagrid taking it?" Jack asked after yawning to himself.
"Not very well," Hermione said sighing.
"We went to see him last night," Ron said explaining "And it was obvious he had been drinking. Telling us he 'Expects it a record. A teacher only lasting one day'. He also said that the school governors have been informed. And them telling him he started too big."
"Well, I don't disagree on that," Jack said sifting around a little so his back felt a little better. "But he hasn't been sacked has he?"
"No, thank goodness," Harry said calmly and yet clutching his fist. "If Malfoy hadn't been a prat and only listened..."
"You expect a pure-blooded stuck-up spoiled rich boy prince, to listen to someone like Hagrid?" Jack asked sighing "Harry I thought you had some brains in that big head of yours."
"Gee... thanks for that Jack" Harry said sarcastically rolling his eyes "Anyway, once Hagrid calmed down a little, he started yelling at us for being there after dark, saying that he isn't worth it."
"What about Buckbeak?" Jack asked curious. "What's going to happen to him?"
"We're not sure yet." Hermione said before checking her watch to see it was time to go. "We'll come back later to bring you homework if we get any." she promised and they left.
Sighing, Jack rolled onto his side and tried to get to sleep.
