AN: First: Thank you to everyone who supported me / understood why I've taken so long to update this story over the last month.

I'm not sure if the update time frame will be fixed, but I will try and make the gaps not as big.

Ron was still mad at Hermione the next day, and barely talked to her all through Herbology, even though they, Harry, and Jack were all working on the same Puffapod – something Jack had never heard of before.

To him they looked like a mix between four different types of flowers all smushed into one plant.

They were supposed to be collecting the bean pods, being careful not to spill any as they emptied them into a wooden bucket because Professor Sprout said they would start to grow as soon as they touch solid items.

"How's Scabbers?" Hermione asked Ron, timidly.

"He's hiding at the bottom of my bed, shaking," Said Ron angrily, missing the bucket because he was looking at Hermione, meaning he scattered magic beans all over the floor, which did indeed start growing before everyone's very eyes.

"Careful Weasley, careful!" cried Professor Sprout disapprovingly.

"At least they're only flowers Professor," Jack said smiling "As far as I know, Magic Beans grow gigantic beanstalks that shoot up off way into the clouds where giants live with their magic harps and golden geese."

This got a lot of confused looks from those who came from magical families, but just got eye rolls from everyone else, too used to Jack saying things like this to really care.

Next up was Transfiguration, Harry having a determined look on his face – Jack assumed it had something to do with Hogsmeade, and as they waited outside the classroom, they saw that Lavender Brown was crying about something, with Parvati comforting her.

"What's the matter Lavender?" Hermione asked coming over to her as well.

"She got a letter from home this morning," Parvati said in a whisper, an arm around her friend. "It's her rabbit Binky, he got killed by a fox."

"Oh," said Hermione "I'm sorry Lavender."

"I should have known!" Lavender said sniffing "You know what day it is."

"Err..." Hermione began confused.

"Friday*?" Jack spoke up as he played with a yoyo he had wanting to pass the time before they went into the classroom.

Lavender shook her head and answered back "The 16th of October. 'The thing you're dreading, will happen on the 16th of October.' She was right... She was right..."

"Someone mind filling me in here?" Jack said not sure what was going on.

"Back in our first Divination lesson," Neville said sounding like he regretted taking it now "Professor Trelawney kept saying things."

"Things?" Jack asked raising an eyebrow.

Neville nodded and continued "That Harry has the Grim, that Parvati should 'Beware a red headed man', that I would break a tea cup – which yeah ok did happen but I was so nervous about it I was more clumsy than normal ok." he paused to see Jack's reaction, and to catch a breath "That someone would leave around the time of Easter, and that something Lavender was dreading will happen on the 16th of October."

"You were dreading him being killed by a fox?" Jack asked trying to understand this better.

"Well... not necessarily by a fox," said Lavender, looking up at the boy, tears running down her face. "but I was obviously dreading him dying wasn't I?"

"Was Binky an old Rabbit?" Hermione asked, a slightly confused / thinking look on her face.

"No! He was only a baby!"

"But then, why would you dread him dying?" asked Hermione, getting a glare from Parvati.

"Well, look at it logically," Hermione said looking around at everyone. "I mean, Binky didn't even die today, Parvati just got the news today. And she couldn't have been dreading it because it's come as a real shock."

"Yeah for all we know he died between the last time you saw him and yesterday." Jack said packing up his yoyo and coming to stand by and support Hermione.

"Don't mind them Lavender," said Ron loudly. "Hermione doesn't seem to care much about other people's pets, and Jack is too busy having fun to care."

Professor McGonagall came out at that point, which was probably a good thing, as Hermione was staring daggers at Ron, and Jack looked like he was about to punch the red head right in the nose.

As they entered the classroom, Ron and Hermione took seats either side of Harry, and Jack went off to sit by himself by the window, Baby Tooth glaring at Ron too as she comforted Jack gently.

It was a pretty alright lesson, no surprises, no legs vanishing from tables by accident, and everyone seemed to be interested in what they were being taught.

At the end of the lesson, when the bell rang, Professor McGonagall spoke to them before they left.

"One moment, please." she said getting their attention "As you are all in my house, you should hand your Hogsmeade permission forms to me before Halloween. No form, no visiting the village, so don't forget!"

Neville put up his hand.

"Please Professor, I – I think I've lost –"

"Your grandmother sent yours to me directly, Longbottom. She seemed to think it was safer. Well, that's all, you may leave."

"Ask her now," Ron hissed to Harry.

"Oh, but -" Hermione began.

"Go for it, Harry," said Ron stubbornly.

Rolling his eyes, Jack pack up his things and fished out his form, which he had been carrying around in his books, he got up and started moving towards the desk when he heard Harry say.

"But Professor, my aunt and uncle - you know, their Muggles, they don't really understand about – about Hogwarts forms and stuff."

"Well as far as I can see they're not much different to any other kind of Muggle school permission forms, Harry," Jack said looking at his form for the act.

Ignoring Jack, Professor McGonagall waited to see where Harry was going with this.

"So I was wondering if you said I could go - " Harry continued, nervously, being egged in my Ron.

"But I don't say so," she said taking Jack's form "As you can see, Potter," she said showing Harry the form "This clearly states that the parent or guardian must give permission." she said, placing Jack's form in her desk and standing up collecting her things looking at Harry with what Jack was convinced was pity. "I'm sorry, Potter, but that's my final word. You had better hurry, or you'll be late for your next lesson."

(AN: Technically: 16th October 1993 WAS a Saturday. When asked my mum and sis – they both said 'Hogwarts might have classes on Saturdays', but then I looked online and through the Chapter 'Talons and Tealeaves' again and Tralawny DOES say Friday 16th.

So I guess J.K. made a mistake.)
