Okay so look. I want to make clear about this chapter title. It was not a typo that I put "Your" instead of "You're" Okay? It is not "More than You are Worth," it is "More than Your Worth". I don't know if anybody read it that way, but I wanted to make it clear 'cause I really like this chapter title and I didn't want it to be misread. I also miswrote it a couple times, because my first instinct with you're worth is you are. But it's not that.

Thank you
Also pog first chapter of Wishessssssss

Lucy's heart thudded as Aki's voice drifted down the hallway. "Hello…"

"Aki-chan," she muttered automatically, pressing herself against the wall and inching towards a large archway.

Crashes echoed from within, followed by Aki's disinterested voice. "Facilitate our death, yeah… Have at me…"

Lucy blanched and dashed forward, turning into the room, eyes sliding over anything that wasn't her guildmate. She found her easily, and released a breath of relief she didn't know she had been holding; it wasn't the mindless monster from before. No, this was Aki, holding her hand up to catch-

She gasped as Aki's tiny hand caught the demon. His eyes widened as he began to glow, dissolving, fragments drifting apart before converging, reconciling into a thick volume. Aki threw it into the air, causing it to vanish with a mere trickle of magic.

Stepping forward, hand curled in front of her chest, Lucy scraped out, "A-Aki-chan?" Aki glanced round at her, reason dancing in her eyes, all traces of bestial cruelty gone, and Lucy started forward eagerly. "Aki-chan! Aki-chan, we were so-"

"Girl," Aki interrupted, leaping like a cat onto a large piece of rubble, "I don't know who you are, but you are an idiot for coming here."

Lucy paled, taking a step backwards. Aki was surveying her with clear amusement and the interest one might afford a bad game of mahjong. Abruptly, Aki blinked, slapping a palm to her forehead. "Wait, drigon, I'm the idiot. You didn't come here, you were kidnapped."

Lucy's eyes filled with tears. 'Aki-chan, what in the world happened?'

Aki smirked, waving behind her. Following her gesture, Lucy's hands flew to her mouth; behind Aki lay a scene of total carnage, blood and death staining the room. How had she not noticed before? There were several emaciated bodies, blood pooling around a large, carved stone. Symbols were painted around it in the same red – demonic symbols and ancient runes traced in a circle, eerily reminiscent of the other time Lucy had known the two ex-Black Mages to have been used in a ritual. Except, this time…

Lucy jumped as Aki's voice broke through the horrid feeling within her. "Just be happy you weren't used for that and be on your merry way."

"A-Aki-chan," she tried, tearing her gaze away from the bloody sight beside her pristine friend. "Don't- don't you remember me?"

Aki blinked at her. "You have me mixed up with someone else."

"No," Lucy denied earnestly, "it-"

Aki ignored her, shaking her head. "You must have me mixed up with someone else, girl," she said with awful pleasantness. She waved towards the gruesome scene once more, still cheery, "I'm only associated with the people and things that do stuff like this, and not with the people who are killed to carry it out."

Lucy's stomach dropped, and she looked down at her feet.

'What do I say to that? How- what do I do?

'… I'll just have to convince her!'

She looked up determinedly even as she trembled under the disquieting gaze.

'She isn't a monster right now – she can think! I can convince- I will convince her!'

"Aki-chan," she begged tremulously, "Aki-chan, it's me, Lucy! Lucy, from Fairy Tail! Don't-"

Aki snorted, cutting Lucy short. "Fairy Tail, huh? Good for you. Why are you telling me again?"

"B-because you're part of Fairy Tail!"

Aki burst out laughing. Struggling to control herself, wiping tears of mirth from her eyes, she managed, "You're pretty gutsy for a kidnapped girl in a demon's base.

"Just get out, kid," she added abruptly, so harsh now that Lucy flinched, "before I decide to kill you."

Shivering, wholly resolute even as goose bumps ran up her arms, Lucy took a step forward. "I'm not leaving, Aki-chan! I can prove you're part of Fairy Tail!"

The other smirked, looking, somehow, annoyed and… gratified? Lucy couldn't understand what she was seeing as Aki purred, "Oh, really? And how is that, girly?"

"Your guild mark!" Lucy held up her hand, displaying her own precious mark. "You have your guild mark just above your stomach! L-look at it!"

Aki stared at her, then stood. She pulled her top up just enough to reveal an immaculate, unmarked stomach.

"But," Lucy floundered, bewildered. Just yesterday, it was there, wasn't it? "-but it was there! What happened to-"

"Nothing, fool." The sharpness of her words cut through Lucy like a sword; cold, mocking, unrecognizable. "While some people choose to spend their time in guilds and on normal, worthless jobs," she said contemptuously, "I have rather more important things to be doing. Though," she added, tone instantaneously light again, "I don't usually do them."

Lucy gazed, horror-struck, as Aki pulled her top back down. "But, Aki-chan, you…"

Aki ignored her, pulling her hair out from the back of her shirt.

Lucy felt as though the final nail of her own coffin had been hammered in with that simple action. "Y-your hair…" she whispered, "and you're shorter…"
