I OWN NOTHING

''Are you joking?'' Kagome questioned Rin the next morning after the Wake.

''No,'' Rin sighed. ''I don't understand what he wants from me, Kagome.''

Kagome raised an eyebrow at her cousin. ''I think it's pretty obvious what he wants from you, Rinny.''

Rin shook her head after a moment. ''Don't even go there.''

''What other reason could there be, Rin?'' Kagome questioned. ''He wants to get back together with you.''

''Or he just wants to see if I'm still a huge loser,'' Rin suggested.

Kagome huffed. ''You read the same newspaper I did, Rin. Sesshomaru and his wife have divorced!''

''Allegedly!'' Rin reminded her.

Kagome sighed and raised her hands in surrender. ''Fine. Believe what you want. I'm going out to do a little shopping, maybe grab a bite to eat. You wanna come with?''

''No, thanks,'' Rin declined. ''I have some paperwork from my aunt's estate to go over. I want to get everything done as quickly as possible so we can leave on Friday like we planned.''

Kagome nodded before standing up. ''Alright. I'm gonna grab my purse from my room and head out. I'll bring you a happy back. Any requests?''

Rin shrugged. ''Surprise me.''

''You got it,'' Kagome unlocked the door and walked out with a wave towards Rin.

Rin moved to grab the envelope of papers her lawyer had dropped off when there was a knock at her door.

''I'm coming,'' Rin called out as she walked towards the hotel room door. ''...Sesshomaru..''

''Thanks. Have a nice day,'' Kagome took her shopping bag from the cashier and went back out towards her rental car.

''Kagome, right?''

Kagome looked up and found a familiar face staring down at her. ''Oh. Sesshomaru's brother, right?''

Inuyasha nodded and held out his hand to her. ''Inuyasha. Inuyasha Takahashi.''

''Kagome Higurashi,'' She returned.

''Well, since we happened to run into each other, how about a cup of coffee?'' Inuyasha suggested.

Kagome tensed in surprise before answering. ''I suppose I have time for that before I go back to Rin. Sure, let's do that.''

''Right this way, Miss,'' Inuyasha led her down the street into a cafe.

Rin looked up at her first and only love with wide eyes as she slowly backed away from him.

''Good morning, Rin. How did you sleep?'' Sesshomaru asked her so casually.

''F-Fine,'' Rin tried to look for a way to escape.

''You surprised me last night when I saw you. You've grown into a beautiful and mature looking woman,'' Sesshomaru commented. ''It's almost like you're a completely different person than the one I know.''

Rin's lip quivered at the way he said those words. ''Because the person you knew was stupid and naive.''

Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow at her. ''I don't think so.''

Kagome raised her eyes to sneak a peek at the man sitting across from her before raising her cup to her lips.

''How long are you and your cousin planning on staying?'' Inuyasha asked her.

Kagome shrugged. ''Depends. The plan is to leave once everything from Rin's aunt's estate is settled. Could take some time. Maybe two weeks? If I had to guess.''

Inuyasha nodded. ''Are you two planning on attending Rin's cousin's party he's throwing in his aunt's memory?''

Kagome snorted. ''Funny how he found the time to throw a lavish party and invite everyone he deems 'important' when he couldn't even be bothered to attend her funeral.

Inuyasha smiled at her. ''Is that a 'no'?''

''I'm sure Rin will say we should go so most likely you'll find us there at some point,'' Kagome responded.

''So,'' Inuyasha set his cup down. ''What's the story between Rin and Sesshomaru?''

Kagome raised an eyebrow. ''Sesshomaru never told you?''

Inuyasha chuckled. ''My brother isn't really one to share.''

Kagome nodded in understanding. ''I got that vibe from him. From what Rin has told me, they were madly in love for over four years, and then Sesshomaru wasn't anymore. Rin said one day he just told her they wouldn't be seeing each other anymore and didn't bother to give her an explanation.''

Inuyasha frowned. ''That sounds like Sesshomaru.''

Kagome nodded. ''Rin was devastated. He left the country the day after so Rin couldn't even try and talk to him.''

''He must have broken up with her right before he left for university,'' Inuyasha realized.

''So, how did you and your wife meet?'' Kagome changed the subject.

Inuyasha stiffened. ''...Kikyo and I met in university.''

''Was it a 'love at first sight' kinda deal?'' Kagome questioned.

''No,'' Inuyasha chuckled. ''The first time I saw Kikyo I thought she was...attractive. And she didn't like me at all.''

''So, how did you win her over?'' Kagome asked.

Inuyasha suddenly glared at his coffee cup. ''I was almost everything she wanted in a husband.'' Kagome raised an eyebrow at him before he suddenly stood up. ''It was very nice to meet you Miss Kagome and I look forward to hopefully running into you again. Have a good day.''

Kagome watched him leave with a curious look on her face.

''You don't think so?'' Rin echoed. ''You mean when you dumped me you weren't laughing at how pathetic I was standing in front of you crying my eyes out. How stupid I was to keep calling and calling you while you just ignored me.''

''Rin,'' Sesshomaru started. ''You make it seem like I intended to hurt you. I loved you but it was time for it to end. At least until now.''

''Until now?'' Rin questioned. ''Excuse me?''

''Well now that we've encountered each other again there is no reason why we shouldn't go out again,'' Sesshomaru responded.

Rin's eyes widened. ''No reason we shouldn't-What-Oh my God. Sesshomaru Takahashi you are, without a doubt, the most arrogant and jerkish man I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. After everything you did to me-! Get out. Get out of my room! Go!''

TA-DA! Only the second chapter so not a whole lot is happening yet but hopefully you still enjoyed it^^
