Read on to learn about a potential rewrite of this story (not the entire show). This rewrite will be an extended exploration of the ideas presented in this current version of the tale. I think it'd also help fix some pacing issues I encountered in the middle of this fic.

I feel like it's appropriate to start off with a promise that I will not kill off one of them in the rewrite LOL.
I promise I'll give these two characters a happy ending together
Once again. This is not a 100% promise that this rewrite will happen. People who are familiar with my old works will know I write on a whim without a clear plan. This is new territory for me and I don't know how this will all unfold.
That being said, I have some questions for you guys in case I go balls deep into this:
Frostbite?
I am a die-hard crackshipper and I become more encouraged to write when crack couples don't have a lot of content created for them (hehe sound familiar?). I was definitely toeing the romance line in this fic, but I was honestly too scared to commit because idk how the fanbase would take it.
To my utter surprise, I actually saw a couple of you talking positively about it and I feel a bit braver tackling a more spicy ship lol.
Ngl writing for this ship will be hard, making their friendship work was already hard enough as it is. That being said, I do have an idea of how I could make this work, but I still want to know your thoughts on the topic.
Would you mind Frostbite in the rewrite? Maybe just a one-sided situation? Or should we stick to just staying as close friends? Depending on how strongly you guys respond, I may or may not go with my crackship idea haha.
Keep in mind I don't like writing dark fics. I notice a lot of existing fics for this couple are on the dark side (understandable), but it's not fun for me to write. I'll make my romance a lot more wholesome, but it won't be without its challenges of course!

Canon ending?
I personally want to follow the canon as much as possible for my own sanity and time sake. That being said, it may take a few years for the series to end, so I was wondering if you would mind if I ended the rewrite a bit earlier than the canon.
It seems the writers kinda just abandoned the human-Faunus tensions so there might not be a lot to work with after V8 (honestly I can't remember if they even covered the human-Faunus hate in this volume, please correct me if I'm wrong).
If you prefer my story to follow the canon very closely be prepared to wait for a couple more years lol.
My current ideas for the rewrite is as follows (in no particular order and with no promise I'll actually use them in the end):
The "childhood arc" will be kept mostly the same. I think that the first 5 chapters do a good job at setting up the rest of the story so they'll most likely stay the same.
It'd be cool to give Sienna more of a backstory. In this story, I had an idea of what it was, but I didn't really expand on it or give it much thought.
I may or may not explore how Sienna raised Adam
Robyn Hill will actually be important (I have a rough idea of what I want to do with her)
May explore a more "grey" solution to the whole Faunus-Human conflict. This idea is a bit iffy because I really don't think an amateur "writer" like myself will pull it off well.
I'd actually really love to explore Weiss' dynamic with her siblings more, especially Whitley. Idk how deep I can get into it, but it might be a fun side plot!
I will keep a poll up on my page for you guys to vote on whether you want a rewrite. This poll will stay open for a very long time so newer readers can still chime in with their thoughts!
I also have plans to delete this story when (if) the rewrite happens. It'll be archived on Ao3 on a private collection until the rewrite is complete—afterwards, I'll make it public again.
Because it'll use so many plot points from the original story, I think it'll be fun if new readers are kept in the dark about many of the original plot points!
If I don't make the rewrite…well at least you guys can have this story up forever!
If I do make a rewrite I will not touch this story with a ten-foot pole until it's written from start to finish. That way even if I get cold feet and abandon the project the original will always be available ;)
From a reader's perspective, I also see why leaving the original up would be preferable regardless of whether a rewrite exists or not. So I will leave this major decision to you.

I was very concerned some bad apples would cause some issues because I essentially tried to humanize a very controversial character. It's refreshing to see the fandom being a lot more chill than I last remembered it to be 3
Once again I need to remind you guys that I'm not a writer lol so don't expect a masterpiece if I end up publishing the rewrite. My day job has nothing to do with creative writing and I'm grateful that so many people find my random drabbles interesting enough to read to the very end.
