(Flashback)
Della and her husband were celebrating their anniversary, while Donald was babysitting their sons, Huey, Dewey and Louie, the couple was driving back home to their boys until a car accidentally crashed theirs. Mr. Duck and the driver of the other car didn't survive the crash. Della on the other hand was still alive but in a coma, her family was shocked about this, they paid her a visit at the hospital, they were all crying for her, later everyone left except Donald and his nephews but they were silent during the whole thing, the nurse came telling Donald that the visiting hours are over for today. Donald: "Okay. We'll leave." But before he left, he said something to Della: "I promise to take care of the boys."
(Present)
Dewey: "Huey, Louie, it's time for us to go."
Huey: "Dewey, I love visiting our mother but I have nothing new to tell her."
Louie: "Wouldn't it be better if we visit her on her birthday?"
Dewey: "If she wasn't in a coma then yes, but she is. Also it's Uncle Donald's birthday as well and he celebrates it with us, Daisy, his friends and the rest of his family, we can't miss it because of our mother."
Huey: "You're right. Let's go."
Huey, Dewey and Louie arrived at the hospital on foot. They reached their mother's room and she was the same as always, in a bed, unconscious. The triplets came closer and Louie began to speak: "Hi mom. You look great as always." Louie stopped talking for a minute until he continued: "Uncle Donald's birthday is on the day after tomorrow. We prepared everything and we wish you could've come with us. We missed each other's birthdays because of that coma and it still hasn't stopped. We miss you mom."
Louie made a sign that he is done talking and Huey decided to be next. Huey was still wondering what to say and he decided to improvise: "Hi mom. It's good to see you again. I wish I could hear you say the same to us. I don't know what to say, so I'm saying what comes to my mind. It's been 15 years since you're in a coma and your condition hasn't changed a bit. I miss you, my brothers miss you, Uncle Donald misses you, your entire family misses you. I hope you wake up some day."
Now it was Dewey's turn to speak, he talked to his mother about how good his day was, his grades and that he always imagines her reaction on everything he tells her. After 15 minutes of talking, Huey and Louie decided to leave but Dewey said: "You two go on ahead, I'll stay here a little longer."
Huey and Louie decided that it's no use to argue with him, so they left him with Della. After they left Dewey started to speak again: "Mom, it's been 15 years and I can't stand watching you in coma. We all miss you. Please wake up, I love you, my brothers love you, Uncle Donald loves you. Please wake up for me." As stopped taking and hugged her tightly as he sobbed into her chest. And then, the most unexpected thing happened, she woke up.
She saw her son crying, so she hugged him back and kissed him on the forehead. Dewey looked at her and he was surprised that she woke up.
Dewey: "Mom?"
After she smiled, Dewey shouted: "Mom you're back." And kissed her cheek, Della giggled and said: "My little boy. Look at yourself, you've grown so much." Dewey: "I'm so glad that you're okay." Della kept smiling until she asked: "Where are your brothers?" Dewey: "They left. I can call them but it's getting dark and I'm planning to surprise them along with Uncle Donald."
Della: "OK"
Then a nurse came and got surprised to see Della awake, she came checked Della's condition and said: "You seem to be OK. You can leave tomorrow."
Della: "That's great. Can my son stay here for the night?"
The nurse: "Of course."
After the nurse left, Dewey and Della had a long talk until Dewey fell asleep. Della giggled, kissed him on the head and said: "Good night, my angel."
