Notes: Oh ho ho got some important stuff after the chapter, take a look after your read! Enjoy!
"Alright, now focus on it. Don't try and move until it's fully closed."
Katara took a breath as she raised her water covered hands again, activating her healing and bringing it to a student's arm that had a large cut. Recovery Girl watched as Katara went to work on the injury, observing the glowing water shimmering around the blonde girl's arm. After a few moments, Katara pulled her hands back, the cut fully repaired and gone from sight.
"Wow, thank you." The girl said with a smile as she rubbed her healed arm.
"Your welcome." Katara smiled back as the girl stood up.
Recovery Girl walked over and analyzed the teens arm, nodding in approval of the work done. "So, does it feel better now?"
the blonde girl nodded. "Yes it does, thank you."
"That's good. Now if you need anything else just come come back and let me know."
After the student walked out, Recovery Girl couldn't help but smile back at Katara. "Impressive. Your speed at healing lacerations have gotten better."
Katara couldn't help but smile. Over the last two weeks she had been coming after school to the nurses office to conduct her training. After having to explain how her healing worked with her "quirk" as Katara put it, the school nurse was able to come up with various ideas she had learned over the years to help teach the young teen to increase the speed and strength of her healing. Luckily for them, UA high had a tendency of being pretty rough, meaning they had plenty of injuries to practice on for healing. While some students were hesitant letting this other student work on them (especially with the first Hosu event still being talked about) others were quite curious and excited to see a fellow high school student the one healing their injuries.
So far Katara wasn't needed to be guided too much, since she already had a great knowledge of healing. This made it so much easier for Recovery Girl to give her lessons and was able to strictly focus on the process of increasing her strength instead. The waterbender had learned how to increase the focus on the wound, and to insert more energy into the injury making cuts close faster and mend with less scarring. But the nurse was ready to increase her training to the next step.
A knock on the door brought a smile to the elder woman's face, walking over and opening it up. "Come in, we are ready for you."
Katara looked up to see the next student in, surprised when she recognized who it was that walked in the room. "Wait, that's…" she watched the class B student walk in, remembering at the festival.
Tetsutetsu looked over in surprise as well, the gray haired teen eyeing her curiously. "Huh? Hey, your that water girl from the festival. What are you doing here?"
"She is my pupil at the moment, and in fact will be the one working on your treatment." Recovery girl answered, earning a raised eyebrow from the class B teen.
"What? She will be?" Tetsutetsu questioned.
Katara frowned at the tone in his voice, but the nurse spoke up first. "Yes she will. She is quite extraordinary and your injuries are perfect to demonstrate that. Now, let me see that hand of yours."
Tetsutetsu gave a grunt and lifted his wrapped left hand, pulling the cloth off and revealing his bruised and disjointed hand and forearm. "Me and Kendo… got a bit carried away in arm wrestling."
Recovery Girl chuckled and looked over his injury before nodding. "Well this is actually perfect for the next step. Now Katara, I will let you get to healing this."
"What?" Katara was now the one surprised at the statement, looking over at the broken arm. "But… bones are-
"The next step in your lesson. Now this is the perfect way to learn."
"Wait, she is practicing on me?" Tetsutetsu stepped back and frowned. "I don't wanna be a testing dummy!"
"Do not worry. I will be monitoring the process. And if she cannot fully do it, I will step in and complete the process." Recovery Girl confirmed. While he was hesitant, Tetsutetsu sighed and sat down on the chair and held his arm to the side.
Katara then approached and felt a little shocked now. She had always healed burns and slashes, but broken bones was something she never fully learned to repair yet. While she was a little apprehensive to simply just try, practice was the best way for her to learn. Bending up a ball of water, she shifted it between her hands as it glowed bright as she brought it down and spread it over the arm.
"Alright, now instead of focusing on the bruising, I want you to focus on simply the bones themselves. Right now that is your priority." Recovery Girl said.
Nodding, Katara closed her eyes as she sensed through the water on his arm, the energy flowing through the water signaling the internal damage. Like she was told, she ignored the bruising and damaged skin and flesh, only targeting the cracks and breaks on the bone she found. Taking a deep breath, she went to work, allowing the energy to flow into the body and onto the bones. Once she found sensed it going, she opened her eyes and relaxed a bit, letting the energy do it's work.
She looked up at the teen who was watching her hands in awe. "Damn, that does look kinda cool actually." He said out loud causing Katara to chuckle.
"Thanks. So what happened exactly that made Kendo do this?" She asked.
Tetsutetsu blushed but grinned, "Well some of us in class were talking about who was stronger, and suddenly a few said Kendo and I should see who was the best. We were close, but then she used her quirk on me and BAM!"
His shout made her jump slightly, her eyes widening in surprise. "She broke your arm even though you turn into steel?"
"Well… I didn't use my quirk. A man wouldn't try hurting a girl with his quirk!"
Katara gave him a deadpanned look at the excuse. 'He really is exactly like Kirishima…' She laughed inside. She then focused back on his arm, feeling the energy trying to reconnect the bones. While she could sense they were slowly filling in the gaps, she began sweating as she tried to fully close them off. The energy required for this was surprisingly a lot more than what she was used to doing for slashes. After a few more minutes she felt herself reaching a plateau, the healing not improving beyond where she was at now causing her to frown, bringing her hands back and exhaling.
"I did as much as I could. Sorry." She said in disappointment.
Tetsutetsu however looked excited while he shifted his arm, wincing as he clenched his fist but still grinned. "Hey, not bad. I can close my hand now!"
"Take it easy, don't push it yet until I check." Recovery Girl mumbled as she approached and felt his arm, rubbing along skin and analyzing the state of his health. "Hmm… pretty good. There are still small fractures, but the majority of the breaks have been reconnected even partially."
"Thank you." Katara nodded as she stepped back and let Recovery Girl finish treating Tetsutetsu. She watched as the glow spread across his arms, the bruising fading away along with his fingers fully straightening out and healing. After a few more moments she finished up and stepped back, letting Tetsutetsu stande up and stretch his arm.
"Awe yeah, that feels better now!" he shouted happily as he swung his arm a few times. "That hits the spot. Thanks!"
Katara chuckled as he gave a thumbs up towards her and the nurse. "Thanks for letting me try healing you."
"No problem! By the way, never got to say how bad ass you were during the festival. Good job back then!"
"Thanks. You did good too."
"Don't mention it. I gotta get going now. Tell Kirishima what's up when run into him again! See ya!"
As Tetsutetsu waved and left, Katara let out a sigh and leaned back against the counter. "I guess I see what I need to keep working on now."
Recovery Girl chuckled at the teen. "Perhaps. The fact you can already mend bones is quite impressive. The thing you need more than lessons is simple experience. Being as young as you are, you have so much time to increase your strength and technique."
Katara smiled and gave a small bow. "I appreciate you taking the time and helping me with this."
"Of course. In fact I've had a good time having to teach someone. It's been quite sometime since I have done that."
Chuckling, Katara took a breath and stood up straight. "I should be leaving too, now."
"Alright then. How about you take this weekend off and return next week for training once again."
Katara gave a nod and grabbed her backpack. "Alright. Have a good night, ma'am." Walking out of the room, Katara made her way through the mostly emptied out school towards the exit. She couldn't help but sigh to herself at today's lesson. "So there is a lot more to work on…" She mumbles out.
Over the last couple weeks, Katara had felt her healing increasing little by little. With the multiple sessions with Recovery Girl and the many times she had helped Tensei heal his injury faster, Katara had plenty of practice now. The different injuries were a good variety for her to work with, and now she realized she still had more to grow. Mending broken bones was certainly not something she worked with a lot, but if she could master something like that, flesh wounds would be even easier to close up.
Her phone suddenly vibrated, pulling it out and looking at the message from Mina.
Hey girl! Haven't seen you after school recently! Let's meet the day before and get you a new look so you're ready for the beach Sunday!
Katara's eyes widened reading that. "Oh wow, I completely forgot about the plan…" she mumbled out. In mix with the training with Recovery Girl, she had also been meeting with Shoto several times a week as well for their own training. With her schedule the beach plan they came up with had slipped her mind, along with inviting shoto as well.
"Hope he can still go." She said to herself. She had actually come to really enjoy her extra sessions with Shoto, the once cold teen slowly warming up little by little over time. In fact, she noticed even his smile had been coming more frequently, seemingly making him embarrassed whenever she pointed it out. She laughed to herself thinking of him getting flustered whenever she did, before they both ended up smiling in the end anyway. Wanting to make sure he was included in it, she opened up his messages and found his name.
Hey I forgot to tell you. Me and some of the others were going to the beach this Sunday and I was hoping you could come too.
She exited the school as she sent her message, hoping she wasn't too late to get him to come. A few minutes passed before she felt her phone vibrate once more, looking down to his message.
I go to see my mother on my days off.
Katara frowned seeing he wasn't going to come, but seeing the reason she could completely understand his reasoning. But then another message came from him.
I go in the morning to visit her. Perhaps I can come afterward. Thank you for the invite.
Katara smiled seeing that he may actually be coming, hoping he could not only spend time with his mother but also get to enjoy some fun as well. She then was curious what Mina meant by a new look, feeling her cheeks heating up and frowning. "She better not try and make me wear something too crazy."
Later that night, Uraraka was hanging out with Tsu and Toru as they walked down the road discussing the upcoming weekend. All three were excited for a day out at the beach.
"This is going to be so fun! Hanging out at the beach is gonna be great!" Uraraka exclaimed.
"Yeah! I can't wait to lay out and tan!" Toru happily said, making Tsu tilt her head in confusion.
"Tanning without seeing how much you have tanned must be hard. Ribbit." Tsu bluntly stated, causing Toru to laugh.
"It's not actually. I just time myself for about thirty minutes at a time and I'm all good!" The invisible girl explained.
"Well, we weren't able to go the first time, but this is different now!" Uraraka clenched her fist as she looked up and smiled. "We won't miss out this day."
Tsu eyed her curiously, noticing an almost hungry look on Ochako's face. She waited until Toru left to use the restroom real fast before she said anything. "You look determined to be there this weekend."
Uraraka gasped slightly and blushed, hiding her thoughts with a giggle. Oh it's just… I heard from Ashido how much fun it was the first time and don't wanna miss out!"
"And because Midoriya is coming too."
"EEP!" Uraraka gasped as her eyes shot open, looking at Tsu still blankly staring at her. "No! No of course not that has nothing to do with it!"
"Ribbit. You blush every time he is mentioned. You are horrible at hiding your feelings."
Uraraka's face burned red as the frog girls expression remained blank. Tsu was always known for being blunt and nothing changed even in these situations. She looked away and frowned, not sure how she should put it. "It's just… I was busy and really missed out the first time. And of course it's nice to see Deku! He's a good friend!"
"Hmm…" Tsu put a finger to her chin as she thought about what to say, not sure if she should push the subject. 'Uraraka is not one to open up about these things. Maybe I should just let her be.' She said internally.
BZZZT.
Suddenly both of their phones went off at the same time, the teens eyes widening simultaneously to see a large group message from Midoriya.
Hey everyone! Looking forward to the day at the beach! Hope everyone makes it!
Uraraka felt her cheeks warm up seeing she was included in the group text, knowing Midoriya wouldn't ever want someone left out. She felt even more excited now.
The night before the beach, Katara decided to go through with it and met Mina at the mall after school. Her pink friend was adamant about making her come to go over the outfit selection she had mentioned. While she was skeptical of the idea of, as Mina put it, "Showing off the goods", they hadn't even looked for anything for themselves yet. The entire time so far they were actually trying to help out Yaoyorozu, who was trying her best to get Jiro to try on anything.
"Oh hell no, I am not putting that on me!" Jiro glared and crossed her arms at the pink two piece Momo held up for her.
"Really? But it would look great on you…" Momo frowned.
"Yeah, something like that would really make you stand out!" Mina cheered, only causing Jiro to blush and look away.
"I'm not trying to do that…" Jiro growled out.
Momo sighed and set it down along with the dozens of other swimsuits she had gone through, their friend obviously against two pieces. "Hmm…. Well we can try some different styles then." she offered.
Katara stood back with her hand on her hip, unable to hold her smile back from the flustered look on the earphone girls face. "Hey, it's okay if you aren't comfortable showing too much."
Jiro groaned and turned away, unable to hide her red face as she moved away. "It's just… I don't know. Just never really been that into it."
"Then why don't you wear something a little more covering?" Katara offered, trying to look around for anything to help. Although she herself had noticed this place had quite the selection of… smaller pieces. Now she was the one to blush. "Ashido must have known this is all they had when she brought me here…" She mumbled.
"Ohhh, found something!" Mina yelled out as she approached the girls, holding up a purple one piece in the air. While Jiro still somewhat felt hesitant by the openings on the sides, she felt somewhat better looking at it since it would cover much more than anything else.
"W-Well… the color matches me at least…" Jiro sighed as she grabbed the item. She stared at it for a moment before the looked back up, blushing once again as she saw the three sets of eyes staring at her. "Okay fine, I'll go try it on!"
Giggling as their flustered friend walked away, Katara looked back to the others and sighed herself. "I guess I should look for myself then."
"Oh don't you worry, I already got some picked for you!" Mina grinned as she reached around the corner and picked out a stack of clothes she had set aside. "Found these before you got here."
Katara's eyes widened as she was handed the stack, looking at the many pieces all throughout. To her surprise, most of them were in various shades of blue. While she did blush at some of the smaller pieces, she did admit the colors were pretty. "Did you get all these for me?" she asked.
Mina simply nodded and smiled. "I had some time before you got here. And since your outfit is that color, figured you would like something like that as well."
Katara couldn't help but smile back at the gesture. "Thanks. I mean, I probably would have gone for that anyway." She looked back at the stack and play frowned. "I will go try on some. But if these are too small, I'm not even going to think about getting it, got it?"
"Okay okay, no ice coming my way." Mina sarcastically waved her hands earning a laugh from the other two before Katara disappeared towards the changing rooms. As she was left alone, she couldn't help but smirk towards the creationist. "Alright, now it's your turn."
Momo tilted her head in confusion."What? I said that Jiro was was the one needing help. I didn't ask for anything."
"Yeah, but I feel like you need something special for tomorrow." Mina gripped her hips and leaned forward. "Why not try and show off for someone."
Feeling her cheeks heat up, Momo stepped back and crossed her arms across her stomach. "Excuse me? Who… what do you mean?"
Mina gave a fake confused shrug. "No one in particular. Just saying who knows what can happen." She led the taller teen through the store to a certain section she saw earlier, grinning internally when she found the item she was looking for. "Here it is. Now this seems like it was made just for you!"
As the clothing was lifted up, Momo's eyes shot open and face burned hot at the sight in front of her. "Wait… you really want me to wear something… like that?! No way!"
"Come on, you'll love it! Just try it for me… please!"
While Mina gave her the biggest puppy dog eyes ever, Momo just stared at the beachwear she was offered. Her heart beat faster as she thought of herself in something so… eye catching? She didn't even know how to describe it. But then her face burned even hotter when she imagined others seeing her in it as well, having to take a quick breath at the image in her mind.
"I… okay I will try it. But no promises…" Momo grabbed the hanger from her friend, earning an enormous smile from the pink one.
"Excellent! I'll be waiting for all of you to show me!" Mina happily exclaimed as she followed her blushing friend towards the back, mentally giving herself a hi-five at her goal. 'Damn I'm good! Getting everyone to try something new!'she giggled internally as she sat outside the doors inside the changing room. She couldn't help but praise herself for making this happen.
'Both Jiro and Katara needed something to wear. Both aren't as open to showing off. Well… jiro definitely more. And Momo…' She couldn't help but wiggle in excitement. 'This will for sure get everyone's eyes on you especially…' she held back her laugh and sat back. After a few minutes she stood up and approached. "Alrighty, you ready?"
"Uhh… maybe?" Jiro shakily said from her room.
"There are… some I am definitely not going to wear. But this one isn't bad." Katara gave a small laugh from hers.
"I… I don't know about this." Momo hesitantly answered out.
"Well, don't keep me waiting. Let's see!" Mina yelled out impatiently, watching as the doors opened up for her. As the trio of girls stepped out, the pink girls eyes sparkled in awe and excitement. "Oh my gosh… these are even better than I expected! This day is going to be perfect!"
The next day, both Katara and Tenya walked down the road together as they carried their things to the beach. Katara was packing several towels along with an umbrella, while Tenya rolled a cooler behind him stacked with chairs.
"This is it! Time to enjoy a day of sunshine and relaxation!" Tenya exclaimed as reached the path leading down to the beach below, the teen in all white smiled out to the world. "I appreciate the invite, Katara!"
"Of course. You didn't get to come last time so it's good you came now." She said as she followed him down. She shifted herself underneath her gray shirt, excited but somewhat embarrassed by what she wore underneath. She tried to shake those thoughts as she walked after Tenya, looking passed and smiling when she saw some of their classmates. "Looks like we were beaten here."
Already set up below were Midoriya, Mina, Tsu, Ojiro, Sero, and Toru sitting down on whatever they brought themselves. Midoriya was the first to see them, smiling and waving them over. "Hey, glad you made it!" he yelled out.
"Of course! It is a wonderful day to be with friends hanging out at the beach!" Tenya yelled back as they approached. He set the cooler aside and gave a quick bow. "I apologize for being late! I was the one who delayed our arrival!"
Ojiro laughed and rubbed his head. "I mean it's only a few minutes past the time, no big deal."
"Yeah, besides everyone else is still on their way." Mina smiled and leaned back on her hands. "Seems like we got most of the class today actually."
"Really? Who said they aren't coming?" Katara asked as she sat down.
Sero scratched his head and sighed. "Well Koda was busy with his mom, and Aoyama said sand and him don't get along."
Mina burst out laughing at that statement. "Oh I can just see him complaining how sand got into his hair or something."
"Tokoyami text me earlier as well," Midoriya added with a frown. "He said he didn't feel well this morning."
"Really?" Katara felt saddened knowing he wasn't coming. "Tokoyami is sick?" She glared when she heard Sero snickering to himself. "What's so funny about him getting sick?"
"Nothing. It's just…" Sero covered his mouth as he struggled to hold back his laughter. "It looks like… he caught the bird flu!"
Suddenly the entire circle burst into laughter, Katara looking around in confusion to the others laughing at what he said. She sat not understanding what was so funny, with only Tenya stepping forward and chopping the air rapidly.
"That is uncalled for to laugh at others expense! I demand you cease this rude behavior at once!" he ordered out only causing Mina to laugh harder.
"Awe come on! You have to admit that was a good one!" She got out between laughs. "How can you not laugh at that?!"
While the others got the rest of their laughter out, Katara shook her head in confusion. Obviously there was something she didn't understand.
"Oh my god… there it is."
"Dude…. We are in heaven!"
Both Mineta and Kaminari sat behind one of the bushes at the edge of the park overlooking the beach, their faces red in excitement to their luck. They glanced around the circle of classmates already on the beach, zooming their sight in on the four females present.
"I can't believe we actually get to see them in the water… with only the smallest of fabric on them!" Mineta drooled as his imagination went to work.
Kaminari clenched his fist in victory. "We will burn these images into our mind so we never forget!"
"So, look who showed up here."
The sudden voice behind the two caused them to yelp in shock, flipping around to see Momo glaring and Jiro burning red, both covered in beach wraps. "Oh, h-hey what's up?!" Kaminari chuckled out as he tried grinning.
"Just… checking out the sights here! Lovely day isn't it?!" Mineta quickly answered, trying to hide the shaking in his legs.
Momo's eye twitched as she took a step forward. "Is that all you were checking out?" she growled out, causing the boys to backpedal.
"N-no no nothing of that sort!" Kaminari fake grinned as he rubbed his head as Mineta rapidly nodded in agreement.
"Of course not! We would never-
Both of them gasped as they backed right into a solid mass, their eyes traveling up and widening in horror to Shoji staring down at them.
"Oh, that is good nothing was going on…" Shoji coldly stated as he cracked his many sets of knuckles, "Because I could have sworn I heard some weirdos around here just now."
"AHHHHHHHH!" the group on the beach looked back in shock to the sudden scream from above before gasping as something crashed into the beach next to them. "What the hell was that?!" Sero yelped out, trying to see through the cloud of dust.
After a few moments, Katara frowned as she was able to make Mineta sticking out from the ground, the tiny teens lower half sticking above his buried head. "I think we have someone else here now."
Tsu tilted her head in confusion as she watched him struggle to pull his head out from the sand. "Ribbit. Did he jump from a plane or something?"
Midoriya sat in shock as he watched his classmate finally pop his head free, Mineta coughing up sand in terror. "Wh-what happened?!" he asked.
"It's nothing to worry about." Shoji said out loud as he approached, carrying a terrified Kaminari by the back of the shirt. "Kaminari made a bet I couldn't throw Mineta into the ocean from back there. I lost the bet as you can see."
"Dude, I would have been part of that bet!" Sero laughed as he watched Mineta shaking the sand out of his ears still.
Katara raised her eyebrow as Shoji set down the trembling electric user. "So… that was what happened?" She sarcastically asked. Both Kaminari and Mineta quickly nodded in agreement, accepting this punishment instead of the wrath of everyone else. Not wanting to dive into whatever happened, Katara looked past the newcomer and saw two more approaching as well and smiled. "Hey, glad you could make it!"
Mina turned and lit up to who it was too, grinning as Yaoyorozu and Jiro walked. "Oh, hey!" she shouted and waved towards them.
Hearing the others, Midoriya turned and immediately locked his gaze onto Momo. His mind went back to the last time they were on the beach together, his face heating up and feeling his throat tighten. Unfortunately for Momo, her face burned when she saw him looking at her. She however was thinking about the outfit she had underneath, still unsure if she should simply create something bigger right then and change. But she shook her head and kept her smile on as she approached the growing circle. "Hey everyone. Sorry if we are late. I was meeting up with Jiro." She said.
Midoriya swallowed and smiled. "N-no problem. We were all just relaxing anyway."
As the two sat down and got relaxed, Shoji groaned and stretched his neck. "Been a while since I've done this. Feels pretty good."
"Oh yeah, it's pretty sweet here." Mina grinned and shifted in her seat. "After a few of us came the first time, we said it would be good to bring everyone else here."
"I agree with that," Ojiro smiled and slipped his shirt off. He reached for the spray sunscreen next to him and reached around to spray his back, but before he could it suddenly floated away from him. "Huh? Why-
"I can get it for you, don't worry!" Toru's happy voice sounded behind him, the floating bottle shaking in the air. "Always easier if someone else gets it!"
"Oh, thanks." Ojiro smiled as she went to spraying his back.
Seeing the act make Kaminari smirk, pulling his shirt off and grabbing his own bottle of rub on sunscreen. He walked over hand held it out towards the girls, giving the biggest smile he could. "If you may, I would truly appreciate if you lovely ladies could assist me."
Jiro rolled her eyes at his attempt of flattery. "Yeah, nice try on that one."
Kaminari acted hurt at her words. "What? I am simply asking a friend for assistance and- GAH!"
"Do not worry, I shall help apply it for you!" Tenya exclaimed as he rubbed his own sunscreen onto the frightened Kamimari's back. "It is important to be thorough and don't miss any spots! Sunburns can be harsh to the skin!"
Kaminari only trembled as he felt the big hands rubbing over his back, too stunned to even move away. 'This is not what I dreamed of!' he cried internally.
Having to hold herself back from laughing at the sight, Katara looked back at the others as they all chatted together. It felt good to be taking a break after everything that had happened over the last month. From the sports festival, to the entire incident with Stain and Tensei, along with her training she had been doing, she really hadn't even been thinking about anything else other than school. This was a much needed day for her. And seeing everyone here together made her happy, but slightly disappointed a few others couldn't have shown up.
'Tokoyami being sick is a bummer. He would have had a great time. And Todoroki…' She looked up to the sky thinking about him. She could only hope he could show up here. Even though she was truly happy he was getting to bond with his mother, she wanted him to come here as well. She wanted to help him experience all the things he never had growing up, even if it was just having fun by the water. '...Hopefully he decides to come afterward.'
"Hey! Sorry I'm late!"
The class turned to see Uraraka jobbing down the beach, the brunette's face lit up in a big smile. Midoriya smiled and waved as she approached. "Hey Uraraka! It's okay, everyone was just getting relaxed."
"Ohh this is nice!" She said as she reached the group. While there was a spot open right in front of her, she happened to notice the void on Midoriya's left. She smiled internally and moved herself over and sat down on the spot, trying her best to hide her happy smirk. "This feels great being here with everyone!" Despite saying a general statement, Uraraka made sure to look towards Midoriya when she announced that, causing him to blush and laugh slightly.
While others paid no mind, Momo couldn't help but notice the little act, causing her knuckles to scrunch up. 'Is she… trying to get closer to him?' the creationist growled internally.
Ashido kept her eye on the situation, secretly grinning inside. 'I knew it! Come on, Yaomomo! Go for the kill!' She screamed inside, thinking back to the outfit she picked for her friend last night.
As the group of students chatted on, the heat began to rise on the students laying out. While the drinks they had helped, a few couldn't help but sigh out as they sweated. "Phew! It's getting pretty toasty out here!" Sero chuckled and wiped his face.
"Yeah, it's getting a little warm. "Katara said as she took another drink of water.
"Well, I need to go swim then. Ribbit." Tsu croaked and stood up, taking her shirt off revealing her green one piece outfit. "The water looks great now."
"I can join you." Katara smiled and set her drink aside. "I could go for cooling off, too."
"Alright, no time to waste then!" Sero exclaimed as he burst towards the ocean, stripping his shirt as he ran off. Ojiro laughed and ran after, quickly followed by Toru as her white two piece floated down after him.
As others began agreeing to the idea, both Mineta's and Kaminari's eyes widened in excitement. 'It's time!' They both thought simultaneously, ready to bask in the wondrous sights. The stern look they received from Shoji however kept them in place, the pair chugging down their water trying to hide their nervousness.
"Oh yes! I can't wait to jump in!" Uraraka happily stood up and grabbed her shirt and pulled it off, revealing her pink flared top bikini. She blushed slightly as she noticed Midoriya trying to avoid from staring, smiling to herself as she looked towards the ocean. "Okay Tsu… I'll join you too! We should all head to the water!"
Midoriya nodded, trying to hide the redness in his face as she walked by. He tried his best not to look below her neckline, rubbing his head as he chuckled. "Y-yeah. The water sounds good!"
As they talked, Momo frowned seeing the way Midoriya was looking at Uraraka. While they were all at the beach together, she felt…
'No I'm not! I'm not… Jealous…' Momo pouted internally, wanting to get rid of these thoughts. When she looked back up, however, her eyes widened in surprise when Midoriya was looking right at her.
"Were…. You gonna come too?" He asked sheepishly, his mouth held in an embarrassed smile.
Now she was the one to blush, but she quickly hid it with a smile and nodded. "Y-yes. Of course."
Mina's mouth couldn't hold back the smile anymore as she watched Momo stand up, the girls hands reaching for the wrap on her body. 'Do it… GO FOR THE KILL!' She almost screamed out. As the wrap dropped, not just Midoriya, but everyone's eyes shot open at the sight beneath.
PFFFFFFFFFT!
Both Mineta and Kaminari's noses burst out blood as the cloth fell from Yaoyorozu, and Midoriya's heart nearly burst out of his chest.
'HOLY SWEET JESUS!' The green haired teen gasped out internally as he couldn't take his eyes away. 'W-w-what is…'
Midoriya's face turned as red as the swimsuit Momo wore, the tall beauties top barely covering half of her raised chest. More than just the small triangles over her, two strings ran between her cleavage encircling each of the globes creating a focal point for him to see. Even her bottoms had a single string running on each side of her body, resting on the top of her wide hips. If he had been nervous before, he was now close to fainting out of shock right then and there.
Uraraka's face burnt red as well as her eye twitched at the sight before her, all while Mineta passed out on the side due to the loss of blood from his nose. Momo herself blushed from the stares she received and held an arm across her stomach, unknowingly causing her chest to rise even more. "I'm ready to go." She said with a forced smile, trying to hide the nerves making her body ready to explode.
'Oh my god, why did I agree to wear this?! This is too embarrassing!' She screamed inside, glaring over to her pink friend smirking in the corner. 'I'm going to get you later, Ashido!'
While everyone else was in awe as Momo walked by, Katara couldn't help but stare herself for a moment before crossing her arms and glaring. She leaned over to Mina next to her to make sure know one else could hear. "Okay, you did plan this, didn't you?" She asked.
Mina Chuckled and put a finger to her mouth. "I have no idea what you mean."
Katara frowned, remembering she said that after she did that water prank to Momo and Midoriya the first time. Looking back at the others walking down the beach, she did giggle herself as she watched Midoriya and Momo trying to keep others between them, but still couldn't manage to keep their eyes from peeking at each other.
"Sure you have no idea…" the waterbender chuckled, seeing how a simple joke had caused the two to grow closer since then. Standing up, she stripped her own shirt off and headed down after them.
One Hour Later
Walking alone down the sidewalk, Shoto saw the beach in his sight and sighed. He was already in his tan beach shorts and dark gray shirt, having brought his clothes just in case he had time after the visit with his mother. He hadn't planned to leave as early as he did, and in fact was not sure about coming here since he had never done this before, but two reasons pushed him here.
First was what happened at the hospital. He had in fact been having a wonderful conversation with his mother, explaining everything that had happened over his last few weeks, how school was doing, and even the training he was doing with Katara. She was so happy for him, actually tearing up as she listened to him talk about the friends he had made since school started, and that he was going to be who he wanted to be on his own terms. And when she heard him mention about being invited to the beach, she insisted that he leave and join them, that he had plenty of time to catch up and shouldn't miss this time to enjoy.
Then, there was Katara.
The one who had been the one to change him from what he was. Whenever he had the chance to train, he would ask if she was free that night. Many times she was busy with her healing training, but she still made time throughout the last few weeks to meet with him and work on his fire training. And with her doing so much, he felt it would be rude not to take her up on her invite. Plus, for some reason he just felt more… relaxed when she was around now.
He smiled softly as he thought about it, reaching the sand and seeing several of his classmates up by a large circle of towels and other beach items. Shoji and Tsu were talking together when they both noticed him approaching. "Todoroki? I didn't know you were coming." Tsu stated, receiving a nod from Shoto.
"Katara invited me. I told her I may have been a little late." he responded.
"No problem, everyone is just doing there thing anyway." Shoji added and adjusted his seat.
Looking around, Shoto noticed only Sero and Mineta were here as well (albeit Mineta was still passed out with a large grin on his face). "Where is she now?" he asked.
"I think she is still in the water with everyone." Tsu shrugged and grabbed another drink.
Nodding, Shoto walked passed them and looked towards the ocean nearby. He scanned the others in the waves, noticing Ojiro splashing his tail towards Toru, also with Kaminari attempting to sneak behind and splash Jiro. He then saw several of the others in a circle talking along with Midoriya, who was looking very red for some reason. He looked further passed the others, curious to see where she was before a burst of water in front erupted, followed by a figure rising up. When the water fell out of the way, his eyes widened in shock as his heart suddenly beat faster in his chest.
There stood Katara, the dark haired girl flipping her wet braid behind herself as she smiled up to the sky. The water dripped down her tanned skin, causing her fit body to glisten in the sunlight. Her chest was covered in a blue and white faded top, the straps crossing her front to create a perfect view of her cleavage. Down below her curvy wait was a set of bottoms that hugged down her high upper thighs but also slit rising up on the sides. All of this was set above fit yet sleek legs disappearing into the blue ocean beneath her.
It wasn't even that revealing compared to the other girls in the water, but seeing her like this in the water almost took his breath away. He had never seen her in attire like this, and he didn't know why he couldn't take her eyes off her. His face burned up even more when she looked towards the shoreline and smiled when she saw him.
"Todoroki!" She yelled out as she walked out of the surf and onto the sand, "I was starting to think you weren't coming. I'm glad you made it!"
"Y-yeah…" He turned his gaze away as she approached, trying not to look down her wet body coming his way. "My mother convinced me I shouldn't miss out."
"Really?" She asked in surprised,"Oh that was really nice of her. I was really hoping you could come, but I didn't want to take away time from your mom."
"I didn't want to not take up your invitation as well. It would have been rude to." He added.
Katara's mouth fell open at hearing that, feeling both astonished and happy he actually thought that way. She couldn't help but smile at him once again. "Well… I really appreciate that. I'm glad you got come here." She then noticed him avoiding from looking towards her, shifting back and forth in his spot. "You okay?"
Shoto swallowed to compose himself, trying to calm himself and face her directly. Unfortunately, he couldn't keep his eyes from glancing down, catching sight of her body once again. He gave a small cough to clear his head before looking back to her eyes. "Yes. Just a little warm is all." he tried saying.
"You should come in the water then, it feels really good." She happily offered, turning back and heading to the small waves behind her. "Come on!"
Being behind her as she walked away in those bottoms was extremely difficult for Shoto not to look, keeping his eyes away from her as she splashed into the waves with the others. Why he was thinking this he didn't understand, knowing it was wrong to think of his friend like that. Shaking his head, he figured cooling in the water would hopefully help clear those thoughts away.
As Katara got back into the water, Tenya noticed her approaching and turned towards her. "Your back? I thought you were done swimming just now." he asked.
Katara shook her head. "No, Todoroki just arrived. I was just saying hi to him."
Mina was backstroking by as she heard. "Oh? He did show up?"
"That is good he is coming to join us here!" Tenya exclaimed out with a grin. "After such a long and tiring first few months of school, breaks are good!"
"Yeah, I think his is coming into the water too." Katara smiled and turned back to the shoreline. "I think he's … getting…"
Katara's words feel silent as she saw Shoto stripping his shirt from his body, revealing a sight that caused her mouth to fall slightly. She had noticed part of his torso was revealed during the sports festival, his shirt burned off from the intensity of his flames, but she never truly paid attention due to their fight happening. Now that his shirt was off, she was amazed to find he was even more defined than Midoriya was, his body lined with well formed yet still somewhat lean muscle all over. His arms flexed just from folding his shirt, and his entire core tightened from the simple action of bending over to set it on the ground. As he turned and headed back towards the water, now she was the one who had to turn away to keep from staring.
'I mean he does train a lot…' She tried chuckling internally, for some reason now feeling more self conscious of what she was wearing now. She grunted at herself and pushed whatever feelings aside and turned back as he walked into the water towards her and the others. "So, feel a little better now?" She asked to distract herself, sighing in relief as his body became somewhat hidden by the water.
"Yes, it does feel refreshing actually." He answered, thankful the cool water did relax him slightly.
"I am glad you have come here as well, Todoroki!" Tenya added with a large smile. "After our stressful weeks after the festival, this is the perfect way to relax!"
"You all had quite the week of internships, I'll say!" Mina said as she swam up to the trio. "I thought my week was tough!"
"Yeah…" Shoto sighed out as he thought back to the night in Hosu, glancing towards Katara. "It was a lot to take in."
Katara felt her chest tighten at his words. There was so many things he could have meant by that. Whether it was simply dealing with being under Endeavor's agencies roof, or the night dealing with Stain and the truth of her finally revealing it to a few of her friends. She caught a quick glance to Tenya looking at her at that statement, and even Midoriya from his group peaked from the corner of his eye after overhearing that. Their silent nod was enough to prove their promise, and help keep her secret to themselves still. This was even before mentioning the stuff that came after with the baby… and the couch.
"A lot did happen that week." Katara said with a chuckle and rubbed her head. "I still haven't seen your new combat from your week, either."
Mina grinned and pointed a thumb at herself. "I learned quite a bit there. But the crazy one is Uraraka. She was trying like crazy to get Gunhead down at least once!"
Uraraka overheard them talking and giggled. "It was a lot of fun actually to learn these things."
"Y-yeah, Gunhead specializes in hand to hand combat so you must have learned a lot from him." Midoriya added, loving to describe how different pros operated.
Despite what she thought she felt earlier on the beach, Momo was pretty intrigued with what she was hearing and smiled. "That is really neat, actually. Perhaps we could do training someday actually. And show what we have learned."
Uraraka playfully rolled her eyes. "I mean you got to train under a super cool hero. I bet you have a lot of sweet tricks you learned from him!"
Midoriya nodded in agreement and smiled towards Momo. "Yeah. It would be amazing if we could all see what the ninja hero taught you."
Momo blushed slightly at the request. "I mean I did learn so much from him. He was a great teacher but he didn't make it easy for me. Not to mention I was dealing with-
"Bakugo?"
Momo stumbled from Uraraka's sudden interruption, sighing out at the thought of the explosion teen and continuing. "Yes… having to deal with Bakugo along with-
"No, I mean Bakugo's here?" Uraraka pointed to the beach, causing everyone to look in surprise as they saw Bakugo standing there alongside Kirishima.
"Hey, what's up guys!" Kirishima grinned out to his classmates in the water, pointing his thumb towards his friend beside him. "Look who I found walking here!"
"Shut up! I just so happened to be going to the beach too!" Bakugo snapped out and scowled.
Many of the teens in the water were surprised to see who showed up. Kirishima had already texted he would be a bit late, but no one had heard anything from Bakugo but assumed he wasn't coming. Apparently he enjoyed things like this more than they expected.
"Hey, so cool you got here!" Mina yelled and waved towards him. "Hop on in!"
"Really? Well…" Kirishima paused as he reached into his bag and shuffled around for what he was looking for. "I thought it would be cool to play… this!"
Everyone watched as the red head pulled out an American football and held it up. As a few like Kaminari and Ojiro immediately jumped at the idea, Katara sat confused to what it was. "It's some kind of game?" she said to herself.
Kirishima chuckled and tossed the ball up and down. "Now that me and Bakugo are here, we got plenty for full teams whoever wants to play! We can be the captains and pick!"
Bakugo only scoffed and turned away. "Whatever, I'm not playing some stupid game."
Before Kirishima could even frown and call him back, Sero walked up and snickered. "Yeah, this game is probably too hard for you. I don't think you'd score a single point."
Before anyone could even see, Bakugo had snatched the ball from Kirishima and held it high in the air. "GET YOUR ASSES OUT OF THE WATER! WE'RE PLAYING FOOTBALL!"
Shoto stared blankly back to the angry teen on the beach. "I just got in, though..."
After getting dried and clothed, the UA students lined to face each other on the beach. Team one consisted of Kirishima, Midoriya, Katara, Uraraka, Sero, Tenya, Toru, Kaminari and Mina. Team two was composed of Bakugo, Tsu, Shoto, Shoji, Ojiro, Momo, Jiro and Mineta.
Kirishima chuckled as he spun the ball in his hand. "You sure you are good? We can sub a player out to make it even."
"Screw that shit!" Bakugo cursed back and stomped in stubbornness. "I don't care if it's eight versus nine! We will still kick your asses a player down!"
"Don't we get a say in this?" Ojiro sighed out as Momo's shoulders slumped.
"Why am I stuck with Bakugo again?" she whined, truly surprised why he picked her.
Laughing, Kirishima tossed the ball over. "Fine. You can start then. No crying when you get your ass whipped. This is a no quirk game. Let's go!"
And so, the game began. At first Katara was completely lost at how they played, being a sport she hadn't seen before. After watching several runs play out however, she was beginning to get the idea of what they were doing and got into it as well. And within fifteen minutes she was smiling as she was running with everyone else. Her team in fact was doing great, and in that time had already scored two touchdowns.
"Damn it!" Bakugo screamed out and stomped in anger as he walked back to his line, having accidentally thrown an interception just now.
"Hey if it's too hard, we can switch up the teams." Kirishima teased as some of the others giggled to Bakugo's twitching face.
"Just throw the damn ball!" He screamed out as everyone laughed.
As they started the next play, Tenya was able to run by everyone and sprint down the beach, Bakugo barely able to keep up. His teeth ground in frustration as he looked over his shoulder and saw the ball flying overhead towards the fast runner.
"Fuck this!" Bakugo roared out and blasted off the ground into the air and caught the ball.
"Hey!" Katara glared and crossed her arms. "Kirishima said no quirks."
"Shut up hair loops, you don't even know the rules!" he barked back.
"Those were the rules for the teams." Shoto added in.
"We are down a player so we get a handicap!"
"Oh come on! You say that now just because you are getting your ass kicked!" Kaminari shot out.
While others began arguing about what to say, Kirishima only grinned. "You want quirks? Fine!" He crossed his arms and hardened his body. "Prison rules! Quirks are a go!"
Within thirty seconds, what started out as a casual game of football… turned into a mess that would have fit perfectly into the school festival. Explosions, fire, water and crashes rang through the sky as bystanders looked in shock at the beach below.
"Go deep!" Kirishima yelled as he chucked the ball as far as he could. Sero grinned and shot his tape out snatching it from the air and pulling it to him. Before he caught it, Ojiro's tail ripped through the tape and stole the ball. He barely got three steps however before Tsu's tongue slipped under his arm and grabbed it back.
Back and forth, up and down, the chaos did not stop. And the students were loving it.
As she caught her ball, Uraraka grabbed it and floated herself, flying over the crowd towards the end where their in zone was. She was close to the ground and ready to release, but a grappling line shot up and locked onto her ankle, causing her to yelp as she was yanked down below. Before she was down, she panicked and dropped the ball, allowing Momo to catch it and run down the other way. "I got it now!" she cheered inside.
"One for all… full cowling!"
Momo's eyes widened as Midoriya shot in front of her, his body flickering in green energy as he grinned toward her. "I got you, now." he said to her and reached for her, but was shocked when she was just fast enough to dodge. "What?!"
Momo spun to the side, grateful for her reflex training with edgeshot. "Nice try." She said with a smirk. The flash of green to her right saw he was coming back, quickly lateraling it back to Jiro just as he lightly tackled her. Both giggled as they fell into the sand, Midoriya grinning as he leaned back.
"Nice try." he smirked out.
"Hey, it was close." She giggled back.
They both laughed for a few more moments… before feeling their cheeks heat up when they realized he was on top of her.
"Uhhhhhh…" they both moaned out.
Jiro ran down before tossing it backwards to Kirishima, the teen hardening up and charging forward. Most were smart and didn't get in the way… all except Shoji who stood his ground and bear hugged the rushing teen, matching him with his own insane strength. They both pushed against one another for a few more moments before they both slipped and fell to the ground.
"Haha, this is sweet!" Kirishima laughed as he stood back up and got in position again. "Go!"
Katara now ran along the ocean side, bending up a large stream of water and surfing along it over the sandy beach. Kirishima tossed her the ball this time, grinning as she quickly ducked by Jiro's earphone quirk and rushing down the beach. Suddenly she watched as both Bakugo and Ojiro were coming straight at her from the front not giving her room to move.
"Katara, behind!"
Smiling, Katara didn't even look as she tossed it to Tenya behind herself. His turbo legs burst him forward across the sand and down the beach passed everyone else… until Tsu's tongue had been able to slip by and trip his ankles up as he sprinted by. In panic he tossed the ball up in the air before he fell, giving Bakugo a shot at blasting through the sky and snatching it with a massive grin.
"This is mine!" He roared in excitement, just before his eyes widened as a water whip snatched the ball back. "GOD DAMN IT HAIR LOOPS!"
Katara laughed as she pulled it back to her side and surfed down the beach, her water keeping most others away. Her ears then picked up the cracking sound of ice, looking over to Shoto speeding down the beach alongside her with his quirk.
"You won't be scoring." He sternly announced, only making her grin more.
"I guess we will see about that!" She yelled back and waved her arm faster pushing her along, dodging one of his ice walls before his hand skimmed into her water and freezing her supply, Before she was encased, Katara jumped off the new ice formed and ran onto sand again, waving her hand and shifting the ice beneath him into water and throwing him off balance. She yanked the water towards her and enshrouded her arms, only several meters from the end. Shoto crawled back up and burst forth with his ice again, leaping into the air and wrapping his arms around her attempting to bring her down.
As the weight pulled, Katara gasped as her legs buckled, extending the water she had on her arms out into a long stream. Carrying the ball in that, she swung her arm forward and landed the ball into the in zone just before she fell to the ground.
"I got it!" Katara giggled even as she rolled on the sand. She looked up to Shoto and smirked. "I guess I did score on you."
He frowned for a moment before sighing and grinning as well. "That was a good move."
They sat there for a second staring at each other, not realizing they weren't moving for sometime actually. Both of their faces warmed up when they noticed how close they were to each other at that moment, noses no more than several inches from each other. They both then looked down, realizing his hands were still wrapped behind her waist from tackling her. Shoto quickly undid his grip on her, pulling away and trying to hid his reddening face. She wasn't far behind though, sitting up as her cheeks burned slightly from the play they both just did.
Luckily for both of them, no one noticed as Bakugo was screaming in defiance.
"Bullshit! She wasn't holding the ball! That doesn't count!"
"Hey, it was her quirk, therefore it should count!" Kirishima argued back.
"Oh don't be a party pooper just because you are losing." Mina teased with a smirk, only making Bakugo more pissed.
"We are down by one touchdown!" He ground his teeth and picked up the ball. "Sticky ball boy, get over here!"
"Wh-what?" Mineta asked as he walked over, yelping as he was picked up and made to cradle the ball… while he was being held by Bakugo. "What are you doing, dude?!"
"DIE!"
BOOM!
All that was heard was Mineta rocketing through the air as he screamed out, landing in a smoky mess… holding the ball still and inside the in zone. "There, we are tied now!" Bakugo growled out in fury.
"Bakugo, that is a cheap way to play this game!" Tenya scolded him as he chopped the air.
"Dude, I even feel like that's cheap." Ojiro frowned and rubbed his forehead.
As the others began bickering, Katara couldn't help but laugh as she sat there in the sand, leaning back as she looked around at everyone. She saw so many people here together, all so different yet so close at the same time. It truly made her feel good to have so many wonderful people around her. She then looked over to Shoto next to her, still feeling her cheeks warm from that interesting moment just now.
Either way, she gave a genuine smile nudged his shoulder. "Thanks for coming here. It actually means a lot to me that you came."
Shoto was certainly stunned by her words, feeling something in his stomach jump when he heard that. While what that feeling was he wasn't sure of, what he did know was he couldn't deny he was thinking the same thing. He had only been here a little more than an hour, and already, this was turning out to be some of the most fun he could ever remember.
He chuckled a few times in amazement to what he was experiencing, looking back to her and smiling. "I should be thanking you again."
