"Winter" by Tumnus Faun
For many years my eyes have seen
The lack of all things bright and green
My frozen hooves and ice-chilled hands
They long for grass and sun-warmed sands
And though the world all seems so pure
In our hearts we long for more
We watched the dryads steal away
With hope they would return someday
Our teary eyes have seen the dwarves
Slip down into their far-wrought hoards
And here I stay each passing day
And hope that winter goes away
Though every flake has beauty sweet
Though snow-capped trees line every street
The snowball fights stopped long ago
As if the world all hates the snow
We bundle up inside our homes
And sadly have our tea and scones
Our love of winter died the day
The Jadis took freedom away.
