Chapter 20: Conflict
(The opening begins here)
Song used: Bright Burning Shout.
As song begins, we see a rose, then an Ore Eyecon, then finally a Mighty Action X Gashat sinking downwards through a black sea.
Then, as the song picks up, the scene changes through a whirlwind of rose petals to a Black Background. The Kamen Rider Ghost logo then approaches us, going past our view through the screen, and then the Kamen Rider Ex-Aid logo does the same, then they reappear by moving backwards into view as the Fate Extra/Last Encore logo appears below them. An "x" appears between the two Kamen Rider logos.
Then, bubbles appear from the right obscuring the logos and changing the scene.
"Yakusha wa inakunatta once more?"
Koriru koto naku who am i? Ga nibuku
Emu opens his eyes. He is swimming in an endless sea of blue. He looks around, trying to figure out why he is there. Then, suddenly, a shadow coalesces behind Emu.
Izanau jihi naki endless
Before Emu could react, he grips his head in pain with both hands, clutching his eyes tight closed as a purple aura surrounds him. Then, the camera zooms into Emu's eyes as he opens them. They are glowing purple. The camera enters the eye.
Na mo naki kodoku wa dōshi da tte
Umaranai to tsukitsukerareteru
The scene changes. We see Tenkuji Takeru in a black void holding his Stories of the World's Greatest People. Pages are flying out of the book and whirling around him in a storm. Takeru looks around at the pages, as if looking for one.
Hakanai landscape
He reaches out and grabs a page. There is a blinding flash of light.
Dare mo ga imi o sagashite wa
Dō shiyō mo nai mama
Aragau sube mo nai
The pages turn into rose petals as Red Saber appears, kneeling in front of Takeru as if he was her lord. The void becomes her Golden Theatre where Emu first found her. Then, she gets up and, turning around surprise, runs forward, as if she is preparing to jump.

She jumps, and the scene suddenly changes to the ocean that Emu was in. Saber had jumped into the ocean.
Saa ima, yuuretsu naku umareochita
Negai ni kachi wa aru ka?
Emu looks up. Saber holds out her hand for Emu. He takes hold of it, and both of them swim upwards into the light.
Mezamero! Bright Burning Shout
The scene is now inside the Coliseum where the original Opening took place. We see Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Action Gamer Level 1, who then jumps and transforms into Level 2, slashing some shadowy figures. After Chapter 14, this sequence changes to Ex-Aid transforming into Double Action Gamer Level XX after transforming into Level 2, both of them slashing shadowy figues.

Then, the camera shifts to Kamen Rider Ghost Ore Damashii, and he slashes some figures as well, before posing as more Ghosts posing appear, each of them representing the Eyecons that Ghost had collected and can use as a Damashii, except for Red Saber's. Chapter 5 onwards introduces Drake Damashii, Chapter 9 onwards adds Robin Hood Damashii and Chapter 14 onwards adds Tamamo no Mae Damashii.
Koe ni dashita sono kibou o
Then, Red Saber appears and slashes a figure, ending up back to back with Ghost. Then, they turn around and fuse together in a red flash, creating Kamen Rider Ghost Red Saber Damashii. They slash the screen in half, opening a dark void which the camera goes into.
Shinjitsu ni kaeyou ka
In the darkness, we see the silhouette of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Zombie Action Gamer Level X-2 surrounded in a purple aura. Then, we zoom into his helmet, which has eyes that glow purple.

Hora ikitai to sakenderu kara
Then, the enemy Master and Servant pairs are shown, each on their floor. First, there is Shinji and Drake on the Golden Hind. Then, there is Blackmore and Robin Hood in the Forest. Then, there is Alice by herself at a table, turning to face the camera. Then, there is Julius Harwey and the corrupted Berserker in some ruins. Then, Rin and Rani back to back in a white icy wasteland. Then, a knight holding a sword and a blond man in a trenchcoat in a Garden. Finally, we see Twice H Pieceman beneath a giant black sphere surrounded by a golden circle.
Hatenaki sora o nirame
The scene cuts back to Ghost, Ex-Aid and Saber running through the Coliseum towards the exit. They exit the Coliseum.
It's you tomo ni arukeru nara
The three look upwards at the Golden circle in the sky. A shot of the three individually then flashes past to the beat of the final three words, each of them readying themselves for more fighting.

The camera then moves upwards into the sky, passing through the centre of the golden circle.

The final shot as the last words are sung is of the Mighty Action X Gashat, the Ore Eyecon and the Rose lying on sand at the bottom of an ocean.
The rain poured down on the desolate ruins of the Fifth Floor.
On top of a set of steel frames that once belonged to a building, Tenkuji Takeru and the Berserker faced each other, ready for combat.
"Lost Heroic Sprit." Tenkuji Takeru began. "You have incapacitated Hojo Emu's Servant with your Noble Phantasm, No Second Strike. However, I, Tenkuji Takeru, carry her will to fight for his sake."
The Berserker didn't respond.
"To enable her to revive again, I thus need to defeat you."
The Ghost Driver appeared around Takeru's waist.
"Demon Fist Master Li Shuwen! With Saber's soul- no, with Nero Claudius' soul by my side, I shall defeat you head on!"
He was uttering words he imagined Saber would proclaim in this moment, as if she was personally fighting the enemy Servant. Then, he changed his tone, adding his own voice to his speech.
"But I see that you are not supposed to be a Berserker. You have been corrupted by your Master's vengeance. We shall release you from your burden. Now…"
He opened the Ghost Driver and took out the Nero Eyecon. He pressed the button on the side with his thumb, illuminating the image of the theatre inside.
He released his grip on the Eyecon, letting it fall into the Driver. Then, he shut it closed.
SHINMEI KAIHOU!
EYE!
BATCHIRIMINA! BATCHIRIMINA!
Out of the driver flew out the red Parka Ghost of Saber but this time, the Parka extended downwards, taking the form of Saber's red dress while still being separated in the middle.
At the sight of the parka, the Berserker took up a defensive position.
"Henshin!" Tenkuji Takeru shouted.
He pulled out the lever of the side of the Ghost Driver, then pushed it in again.
SHINMEI KAIGAN! NERO!
SABER'S TRUE POWER!
THE EMPEROR'S HOUR!
THE ONE WHO WIELDS THE BLADE OF THE BRIGHT BURNING FLOWER!
Ghost's base armour materialised, but it was red instead of its usual black. Golden fiery details covered the armour, and the Ghost emblem on his chest was embossed with silver.
The Parka Ghost landed on Ghost's head, wreathing the Kamen Rider in fire, as the image of the theatre on the Eyecon appeared on Ghost's mask.
He had transformed into Kamen Rider Ghost Shinmei (True Name) Nero Damashii.
Meanwhile, on top of a distant building, Julius B. Harwey felt the ground shake under him.
Huh? I thought my Servant killed that Deadface's Servant…
He looked over at the battle raging on the steel frame. From the distance, it appeared that it was Saber who was in combat with his Servant.
"Tch. I thought that she would be dead by now… How does she still have the ability to fight?"
Suddenly, he heard the splash of footsteps on puddles. He turned to face the direction of the steps.
Emu Hojo, soaked in the rain, was walking towards him with a determined look on his face. Lightning struck behind him, as if heralding his arrival to the battlefield.
"I see you survived." Julius noted.
"Yes, I did." Emu responded calmly.
"I figured as much. Have you come to accept the truth?"
Emu didn't reply.
"No matter how many times I kill you, you'll just keep coming back. Don't you see? You've never come close to being alive, and you never will, no matter how hard you try. How unsightly. You are fated to become nothing but a vengeful demon, far worse than I can ever be. You should just rot in the ground like the garbage you are, Deadface."
Julius started to walk towards Emu.
"Let me do the honours, then, of preparing your funeral."
He revealed the Gashacon Bugvisor and placed it on his waist.
GACHON!
Then, he took out his Dangerous Zombie Gashat and shoved it into the Bugvisor, pushing the button on the other side.
GASHATTO!
BUGGLE UP!
DANGER! DANGER!
DEATH THE CRISIS!
DANGEROUS ZOMBIE!
A purple fog covered him as the white-and-red screen with the two zombie-like figures emerged from the belt and reversed onto his body. Julius punched through the screen, transforming into Kamen Rider Genm Zombie Gamer Lvl. X.
Emu took out his Gamer Driver and placed it on his waist. Then, he took out the Mighty Action X Gashat and activated it.
MIGHTY ACTION X!
"Dai Henshin!"
He swung his arms around and placed it into the Gamer Driver.
GASHATTO!
Then, he opened the lever.
GACHAN!
LEVEL UP!
MIGHTY JUMP! MIGHTY KICK! MIGHTY MIGHTY ACTION X!
The screen with the picture of Ex-Aid emerged from the Gamer Driver, expanded and reversed back onto Emu. As it passed through, Emu transformed into Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Action Gamer Lvl. 2.
"What happened to your other form?" Genm sneered. "You know you can't beat me with that."
Suddenly, Genm vanished, reappearing in front of Ex-Aid. The two clashed fists, matching each of their opponent's punches, but it was clear that Ex-Aid was on the back foot. Genm then kicked Ex-Aid's leg, causing him to lose balance, then he landed another one on Ex-Aid's stomach. Ex-Aid flew backwards and landed on his knees, clutching his stomach.
Genm pressed both buttons on the front of his Gashacon Bugvisor.
KIMEWAZA!
He pressed the right button.
CRITICAL DEAD!
A purple sludge began spreading out on the ground from Genm, trapping Ex-Aid's feet. Before Ex-Aid could react, a horde of Genm clones began to form from the sludge, moving slowly towards Ex-Aid. As they neared Ex-Aid, they started to blink red, blinking faster by the second, before exploding, sending Ex-Aid flying towards the edge of the roof. He managed to stop himself before he fell.
Genm slowly started to walk towards Ex-Aid.
"Look at this world." Genm began, gesturing at the ruins of the city around them.
"This is where your existence leads. No matter how much punishment you're dealt, you're never satisfied. Depravity beyond measure. You don't deserve the title of Master. You lack even a wish."
Emu stayed silent.
You may have been right once. Maybe I couldn't speak of life after all I did. But even so, the ones who encouraged me…
He thought back to the time he pulled out Saber's sword, and her appearance in the abandoned theatre. He thought back to Takeru appearing inside his mind, taking the blow from the Deadface and saving him from falling to despair.
Emu started to smirk.
"Heh. You don't understand, do you?"
Genm stopped in his tracks.
"Huh?"
"Sorry, but I think you've mistaken me for someone else. You see, I'm not the person you think I am. In fact, I bet you know next to nothing about me. Can't you feel it?"
Genm remained motionless for a moment. Then, his eyes widened.
"The… Deadface. Where is it?! It had almost taken you over the last time we fought. That death… should have pushed you over the edge!"
"I think you've underestimated me from the beginning, Julius. In fact, since this is the first proper conversation we're having, let me introduce myself!"
Ex-Aid got up onto his feet and spread his arms wide.
"My name is Emu Hojo, a doctor of Seito University Hospital. Also known as the Genius Gamer M. As a doctor, I save lives. As a gamer, I overcome any obstacle I come across. I may have almost lost myself to despair and hatred, but thanks to my friends, I pulled myself from that abyss. I'm no longer the force of destruction that you thought I was. Or I thought I was. I have a new purpose. A new wish."
He revealed the Master Creator VRX Gashat in his hand.
"I hold in my hand the will of all the Masters who took part in this horrible Holy Grail War. Those who fell to other Masters in combat. Those who reached the Moon Cell and fell to the force corrupting it. I swore to all of them that I would fix it and let their souls rest. And I will ensure that your soul will also find rest as well. So come, Julius B. Harwey, or what is left of him. We will finish this once and for all."
Beneath Genm's mask, Julius' face turned furious.
"You bastard…"
Ex-Aid activated the Gashat.
MASTER CREATOR VRX!
Emu took out his Mighty Action X Gashat and closed the lever on his driver. Then, he inserted the new Gashat into his Gamer Driver.
GASHATTO!
As rock music started playing, a screen appeared behind Ex-Aid, with the words Mighty Creator VRX and a chibi white Ex-Aid on it.
"Master… Dai Henshin!"
He opened the lever of the Gamer Driver.
GACHAN!
LEVEL UP!
Pieces of armour and colours started to appear around Ex-Aid. The Action Gamer suit turned white with blue accents, and a white trenchcoat with more blue markings appeared around Emu's waist. On the back of Ex-Aid's hands, command seals appeared, signifying Emu's status as a Master. The armour latched itself to the Ex-Aid suit, and around Ex-Aid's face, a piece of armour that looked like a VR headset formed. The front of the headset lit up with Ex-Aid's eyes.
THE POWER OF ALL THE FALLEN!
(GET MAKE!)
THE MASTER OF THE FUTURE!
MASTER CREATOR VRX!
Emu had become Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Master Creator Gamer.
The Berserker rushed forwards, pulling back his fist.
Takeru closed his eyes and let the power of the Damashii run through him. Unlike with his prior use of Saber Damashii, he felt that his soul had completely melded with Nero's, synchronising their thoughts despite her fallen state, as opposed to her having to guide him during the battle. He had more access to her power as well, and thus all her abilities.
He opened his eyes and invoked Nero's signature ability.
"Imperial Privilege, First Privilege!"
Before the Berserker's punch made contact, Ghost materialised Saber's red blade and his Gan Gan Saber and crossed them, just in time for the punch to impact them. The collision sent shockwaves throughout the area, shaking the surrounding buildings and causing dust to fall.
As Imperial Privilege took effect, the techniques of Bajiquan, Li Shuwen's signature style of Kung Fu, began flooding into Tenkuji Takeru's mind. The Berserker jumped back, then he spun round, landing a roundhouse kick on the Gan Gan Saber, sending it flying backwards onto the steel. He dodge another swipe from the red sword, before using his right hand to pin down Ghost's remaining sword hand while using his left to go in for another punch. Ghost, recognising this manoeuvre, raised his left arm to block it. Both fighters then traded blows, each of the Berserker's moves countered by one of Ghost's. As their arms made contact with each other, it sent shockwaves across the entire area, dislodging even the rain droplets.
The Berserker then threw a punch aimed at Ghost's helmet. He moved his head to the side to dodge the fist and swung the red sword at the Berserker. The Berserker somersaulted backwards, pushing on his hands and landing on his feet, before rushing forwards.
Ghost took up a defensive stance.
The Berserker stopped in front on Ghost and threw his right fist forward. Ghost once again raised his left arm to block it, before he pushed down the Berserker's arm to expose his defences. Ghost rammed his shoulderinto the Berserker's chest while simultaneously pushing his elbow into the Berserker's abdomen, momentarily stunning the Berserker. Finally, he kicked the Berserker, sending his flying backwards.
Genm lunged at Ex-Aid, readying a punch. However, Ex-Aid swiftly moved to the side, the punch passing inches from his face, then he punched the enemy Rider downwards onto the floor. He then jumped backwards a few metres to get clear of the enemy.
Genm got to his feet and rushed towards Ex-Aid.
Instinctively, Emu selected a skill to use.
Gandr!
He held up his arm and aimed his hand at the approaching Rider, pointing his index finger like a finger gun.
A bolt of light shot out of his index finger and struck the enemy Rider, momentarily stunning him in place.
"Gandr? I never thought you'd be able to perform such magic, fake Master." Genm sneered. "I guess I underestimated you. Well then…"
He ran towards Ex-Aid and continued to punch at him, with Ex-Aid dodging each time. Inside of the suit, Emu was running through the abilities of the new form. He had used Gandr out of desperation, but he realised that there were so many other skills and code casts available.
He activated one that suited his current situation.
Body Reinforcement!
His body and armour hardened, and his muscles began to feel stronger.
Genm launched one final punch at Ex-Aid's face, but before it could make contact, Ex-Aid raised his hand. The fist was stopped dead in its tracks. Ex-Aid immediately landed a right hook on Genm's face, knocking him sideways.
Then, he drew his Gashacon Breaker and activated another skill.
Fire Magecraft!
The Gashacon Breaker became shrouded in flames. He ran up to Genm and slashed his chest, leaving visible burn marks on the armour.
Then…
He raised his hand, and white spikes started appearing in the air. Ex-Aid gestured forwards, and the spikes flew forwards, embedding themselves in Genm's chest. Then, he clenched his fist, and the spikes exploded. As Genm reeled back, Ex-Aid ran forwards with his Gashacon Breaker.
Finally, Reinforcement and Shock!
The tip of the Breaker sparked with electricity, and jolts of lightning emitted from the blade. Ex-Aid ran through Genm's heart with the blade, blood spurting out of Genm's back.
Takeru knew he had to finish the Berserker off quickly. Imperial Privilege was running out, and it was only a matter of time before the knowledge of Bajiqian he acquired faded from his mind.
Let's go, Saber! Together!
He pulled and pushed the lever of his Ghost Driver four times.
SHINMEI DAI KAIGAN!
He faced the Berserker and threw his right arm forward.
"Regnum Caelorum et Gehenna!"
NERO OOMEDAMA!
A large red projection of an Eyecon began to appear above Ghost's head.
"Reconstruct, o heaven of mine, and display upon this place supreme light! That they may extol!"
Ghost held Nero's sword with two hands, pointing the tip of the blade downwards.
"Aestus Domus Aurea! (Golden Theatre of the Deranged)"
He stabbed the sword into the ground, and the Eyecon Projection began to shine, expanding outwards rapidly. The Berserker shielded his eyes as the projection enveloped him with a blinding light.
When he opened his eyes, he found himself not in the rainy ruins of the Fifth Floor, but a golden theatre, filled with red roses and decorations from the floor to the ceiling. Rose petals were hovering in the air around the theatre. Red flags bearing the Imperial seal of Rome draped from the balconies, and in the centre was Ghost, holding a rose in his hand.
"This is the inside of Nero's Eyecon, the Reality Marble which holds her soul!" Ghost declared. "Her Noble Phantasm, the Theatre, is my, no, our domain!"
The Berserker tried to move, but suddenly he felt intense gravity force him to his knees, as if kneeling before the Emperor of Roses. As he struggled to even lift his head, he screamed with a horrifying roar.
Ghost pulled and pushed the lever on his Driver one more time.
SHINMEI DAI KAIGAN!
"Let the curtains fall!"
He threw the rose into the air. As it fell next to the red sword, it glowed gold, transforming into a red projection of Nero. She picked up her sword with her right hand. Ghost's Gan Gan Saber rematerialized in his left hand. The two lifted their swords into the air side by side, and both blades burst into flames.
Then, Ghost and Nero swung their swords back and charged forwards towards the Berserker, both engulfed in flames with petals swirling around them.
"Rosa…"
The Berserker let out one more defiant roar, leaping up onto his feet, but he was too slow to stop his fate.
NERO OMEGA DRIVE!
"Ictus!"
The two swung their swords as they passed through the Berserker, cleaving the body of the Berserker into two. From the slash, an outpour of rose petals instead of blood shot out. As Ghost landed on the other side, the Berserker fell onto the floor, motionless.
The Nero projection vanished, and the red sword clattered onto the ground.
As the theatre began to fade, Ghost walked over to the Berserker. Quickly, he made the triangle symbol with his hands before drawing the eye symbol over the Berserker's body. The body glowed crimson before being sucked into the eye, emerging as a Damashii. It had the appearance of a red traditional Chinese jacket with gold embroidery, with a hoodie attached to the collar. The Damashii flew into the Ghost Driver. Takeru put his hand under the eye of the driver and out came a crimson Eyecon. Just like the Drake Eyecon, the scelera was black, and on the plate on the top of the Eyecon was written ES-05 and Assassin, with a picture of two crossed fists.
Assassin? I though he was a Berserker?
Ex-Aid withdrew the blade and willed it to vanish. Genm's body fell backwards.
That should do it.
However, Genm started laughing. His body jerked back up onto his feet as the hole made by the sword started to close itself up.
"Haven't you forgotten? I'm immortal. Unlike you, I've accepted my undead nature."
Oh, right. It's just like with Dan Kuroto, isn't it?
He recalled the words of the teacher at the lowest floor.
She described the Moon Cell as a computer. Then everything inside should also be a kind of program.
He remembered that other people, Spiriton Hackers were able to control aspects of the Moon Cell using programs, such as Shinji and Rin.
Therefore… if the other Masters were able to do it, I should be able to do the same thing!
As Genm charged once more, Ex-Aid began to prepare. He needed to quickly create a program to deal with Julius' immortality. He dodged the incoming strikes using another Master's skills that enhanced reaction time and allowed autonomous movement as he analysed Julius using Appraisal.
There! This code should give Julius a proper body, allowing him to die properly! Now all I need to do is inject it.
Genm jumped backwards again.
"All you're doing is delaying the inevitable. It's time to finish this."
"Yes. Let's." Ex-Aid responded.
He took out the Master Creator VRX Gashat from his Driver and pushed it into his Kimewaza Slot.
GASHATTO!
KAMIWAZA!
Genm pressed both buttons on his Gashacon Bugvisor again.
KIMEWAZA!
Ex-Aid's right leg began to glow with a blue energy, while Genm's right leg began to glow with a purple energy.
Ex-Aid pressed the button on his Kimewaza Slot.
MASTER CRITICAL STRIKE!
CRITICAL END!
Both Riders leapt off the ground towards each other, their legs outstretched for a kick at the opponent. As the two made contact, it sent blue and purple shockwaves outwards from their contact point, causing the ground to shake. The buildings around them began to crumble as they continued to push harder against each other.
Now!
Ex-Aid ran the program and injected it into Julius' body through his foot. As the program took effect, Genm's body started to contort violently.
"Wha-what?!"
Then, on Genm's chest, the Rider Gauge (which shows a Gamer Rider's health), which had up to that point been broken and empty, began to refill. His kick faltered in strength as the purple energy around his leg began to diminish.
Seizing the opportunity, Ex-Aid leapt off Genm, causing the latter to be sent hurtling downwards towards the crumbling buildings. Then, with one last push, Ex-Aid rocketed down towards Genm, striking him in the chest with a kick. Ex-Aid continued to push Genm downwards continuously through the buildings until he finally impacted the ground below, sending up a huge cloud of dust.
The Rider Gauge on Gemn's chest reached zero, and the armour around Genm disappeared, leaving Julius lying on the ground. Ex-Aid walked up to him, removing his gashat from the Kimewaza Slot, causing his armour to disappear as well.
"The dead… wasn't supposed to change anything." Julius spoke. "It was a hatred… so strong it made you want to vomit…"
His body began to dissolve into purple mist.
"You were supposed to become like me. Why?"
Emu lowered himself to Julius.
"That's where you were wrong. And, I supposed, where I went wrong too. I always thought… that this curse made me a monster. That I would also become like you. But… you are trapped by that fate. I changed it for myself."
Julius snickered.
"If only it were that simple. But don't think that you are completely safe, Hojo Emu. You might find… that some parts… still remain…"
With that, his body completely vanished, leaving Emu in the pouring rain.
Takeru arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.
"Did you do it?"
Emu turned to Takeru and, with a smile, gave him a thumbs up.
Takeru returned the gesture.
"So, what about Saber?"
As if on cue, the Nero Eyecon flew out of Takeru's jacket. It glowed red before transforming into the familiar face of Red Saber.
"Fear not, my loyal companions! For I, the great Emperor Nero, have returned."
Then she saw Emu's appearance and her expression turned to worry.
"You're all battered! What happened?"
"Honestly, I thought I'd end up worse than this."
Nero smiled.
"You wish to be praised?"
Both of them chuckled.
"I've got the Eyecon of the enemy Servant. Also, Rin and Rani aren't coming, apparently." Takeru cut in. "It seems our paths diverge here."
"Really?" Emu responded. "Hasn't that happened a few times already? What's up with them?"
"Now, now!" Nero interrupted. "No time for questions like that. Look!" She pointed behind Emu. "The elevator's right there."
Emu and Takeru turned, and sure enough, the descended elevator was just a block away.
"What a coincidence." Takeru noted. "Well then, let's get on our way."
As the three made their way to the elevator, Rin and Rani, in raincoats, watched them from the roof of another building.
"And with that, our role is finished." Rin said. "We finally completed our mission."
"Yes." Rani agreed. "'A proper Master reaching the sixth floor.' That was our common objective. Now it's up to the Sixth Floor's Master to receive them."
"Yup. Although that floor is like this world's Hell." Rin noted.
"Miss Tohsaka?"
"Sorry, I'm going to stick with them a little longer." Rin said. "After all, it'd be problematic if they killed themselves, right?"
"I had not taken that possibility into account." Rani admitted. "I leave them to your hands, then."
"Thanks. You take ca- Well, I guess that's not happening. Good work. You can take your rest first."
