Coming out of the bathroom, Katara sighed as she walked towards the bed she was given, changed out of her robes and into a tan crop top and pants. After the meeting with the heroes had concluded, it was decided that the heroes involved would remain in Fujiyoshida. Offering his agency as a place to stay for the young ones, Katara had found herself in one of the extra rooms at Shishido's compound. Despite it being midnight, she couldn't get herself to relax and go to sleep. She wasn't even tired in the least, partially from the fact of the mission for tomorrow. Most of it however was from the classmate on her mind.
Bakugo.
Ever since the meeting had ended, neither of them had said a word to one another. Through the drive over here and walking them through his facility, the two managed to stay silent with the other. The whole time, however, she would see him glance her way, a simple glare back before he turned away avoiding her. And now, she knew she had to clear this up, because avoiding this was useless at this point. It was obvious he knew something was going on, and she was going to clear this up.
Taking a breath, she reached over and grabbed her phone off the bed and opened her contacts. She scrolled down until she found his number, raising her eyebrow when she saw there had never been a message between them. Shaking her head, she opened the keypad up and typed.
We need to talk.
After she sent it, she waited a moment before her phone vibrated, looking down and seeing his response.
Lobby. Now.
Frowning to herself, Katara rubbed her forehead and stood up from the bed. "Let's get this over with." She said to herself, walking over and opening the door of her guest room to the hall. She glanced down and saw the dark hall was empty, walking down the path until she saw one of the other doors open up, her heart slowly speeding up when Bakugo stepped out into the hall as well. The ash blonde teen was sporting his usual black shirt and pants, his narrowed eyes staring at her before looking away and walking in front.
"Let's go, hair loops." he grumbled her brow, Katara followed him down the hall until they came to the main lobby of the Shishido agency. When he didn't stop walking, she tilted her head in confusion, the explosion teen glaring back her way. "You thought I was going to ask you here in the open? Even I'm not that stupid." He huffed out.
Leading her past the lobby, he opened up a door leading to stairs heading down below. Katara eyed the door curiously, not knowing where this was going as she followed him down the long stairway. Step after step she went down after him until they came to another door, this one made of solid steel. "Where the hell are you taking me? I thought you wanted to talk…" Katara asked in confusion.
"There's a lot to clear up hair loops, and I don't want anyone getting in the way…" Bakugo hissed out, pushing the heavy door open and entering the dark room. While confused and cautious, Katara walked through the opening after him, unable to see anything until Bakugo reached over and grabbed the switch on the side, flipping it upwards. Both were struck by blinding lights, the waterbender covering her eyes until they adjusted to the sudden change. Her mouth dropped in shock when she was now met with an enormous underground training field more than twice the size of a soccer field lined with high tech workout equipment, the back of the area with what looked like an olympic sized pool.
"What is this place?" Katara asked, earning a scoff from the explosive teen.
"Obviously you didn't hear that Shishido mentioned using his training area for exercise if we wanted after dinner," He said, knowing her mind was already too distracted on him. "I've read how this bastard had this place sound proofed because of his damn roars."
After that last sentence, Katara's breath quickened for a moment before exhaling and grabbed her arm. "So you wanted to bring me here so no one else could hear."
"With that damn rabbit here, she could hear a pin drop if we tried talking up there…" Bakugo growled, still wondering what was pissing Mirko off so much for. "And I've had this on my mind for a long time, so I want nothing to stop me this time."
As Katara furrowed her brow, Bakugo stared down at the grass as he sighed. "Ever since school started, you've always pissed me the hell off. You slipped by me and took number one at the entrance exam, then got those other extras to vote for you to be class rep. At the festival, the race after internships, you always bugged the shit out of me with how you were always at the front beside me. But something always bugged me about you… and that was your quirk."
Clenching his fists, Bakugo turned around and faced Katara. "You can control water, any form in fact. From Ice, plants and the air. I would say that's an incredibly rare quirk to do so much, but you can somehow also heal with your power. I've never even heard of a manipulating quirk that includes something like that. And then in Kamino…" Gritting his teeth, Bakugo pointed his finger at her. "That All for One guy wanted your quirk. When he tried, though… he couldn't take it from you. Now it all makes sense."
He opened up his palm, creating a mini explosion before glaring at Katara. "Your power isn't a quirk, is it?"
Katara's heart jumped at his words, even though she was expecting him to say something like this. She knew however trying to hide it was pointless now, squeezing her own fist and stepping closer to him. "So you've known for all this time…" she quietly said.
Bakugo's eyes widened for a moment, finally getting confirmation to his theory now before narrowing them again. "I was right then… your powers are different." He sat for a moment, staring at the girl before him with some answers… only to have more questions grow in his head. "I want the truth hair loops…. Just what the hell are you?"
Katara exhaled as she looked away for a moment, clicking her tongue and sighing. She knew it was best to explain everything… and that's what she did. She told him who she was, and where she came from. How she ended up living with Tenya, and what her bending was. Bakugo stayed rather quiet during the entire time, the teen in disbelief to what he had just heard. While it seemed crazy, he had come across so many insane things lately… including his former childhood friend now having the powers of his idol All Might.
Running his hands through his hair, Bakugo itched his head and scoffed to himself. "So, four eyes obviously knows about you. Who else knows this shit?"
"Tenya's family knows who I am, and so do the teachers at school. The only others are Shoto and Midoriya." Katara answered.
Bakugo was honestly surprised to hear none of their other classmates knew about this, especially Momo and Mina since they spent so much time together. He then thought back to Izuku though… one who's kept his quirk secret from literally everyone as well. "So you're some girl from some other strange place who showed up here… and four eyes and them just took you in, huh?"
Katara's eyes narrowed at the teen. "If you're going to say anything bad about them, don't. They took me in when I had nowhere to go here."
"Oh shut it. It's not like I give a shit about any of that," He grunted out as he walked further onto the grass. "What I do want to know is what the hell that villain guy wants with you. Does he know about you, too?"
Frowning, Katara took a deep breath. "He said he wanted my quirk because of how unique it was. And when he tried to take it, he realized he couldn't… and could tell it wasn't a quirk I possessed. He doesn't know where I'm from, though."
"And that fire bastard… What about him?"
Katara's mind flashed back to the blue flames again, crossing her arms and sighing. "I don't know… He seemed to be obsessed with Endeavor and Shoto, so he must think getting to me will hurt them."
"Well he's right on one of those things…" Bakugo huffed out, looking up to the lights above as his mind worked. Katara frowned knowing he was referring to Shoto, and couldn't disagree with that statement. "So what's your goal, hair loops?"
She tilted her head to his question. "What do you mean?"
"If you come from this other place like you say, what the hell are you doing in school? Why are you wasting your time with this?"
Katara glared as she looked away. "It's not like I can just head on back to where I come from. I am making my own life here, and I made a promise to myself I wouldn't ever sit by when someone needed help. If that means I have to go to school here for that, then that's what I'm going to do." She glanced back up to Bakugo, taking a breath and placing her hand on her hips. "So, what about you now? You got your answers about me, so what happens now?"
Bakugo grumbled and looked down at his palm, his mind somewhat settling after the questions that had been plaguing his mind for so long. While he had those answers, there was one that had been on his mind since before the mystery of Katara. Narrowing his eyes, he turned his gaze up and locked onto her.
"Fight me."
Katara's eyes shot open at the request, not expecting that to be his answer. "What?"
"You heard me… I want you to fight me right here and now."
"What is this?" She glared and clenched her fists, "You don't trust me now and-
"Just shut it, hair loops," Bakugo spat out, "This isn't some honor test to see if you're a villain or not; this is something that's pissed me off since you beat me at the entrance exam. Out of everyone in the class that even stands a chance against me, you're the only one I haven't fought yet. So I want to settle this now and see if you deserve that class rep title."
"Are you serious?" Katara asked, "Why is it you just want to fight everyone? Is that all you care about?"
"Look here, I don't care if you came from goddamn space or not, I'm not like the idiots who thought you were some crazed villain. What I do care about is how strong this… bending of yours is. And I want to find that out right now."
"We have an important mission tomorrow, and you want to fight right now?" Katara shook her head in disbelief. "I'm not doing this."
As she turned to walk away, Bakugo growled before his mind clicked. "Fine… then I guess you'll have to deal with everyone knowing who you are."
Katara's heart jumped at the words just said, turning around and staring daggers at the explosive teen. "What did you say?"
Smirking internally, Bakugo gave a nod. "I could simply post about how you don't have a quirk, letting everyone in this world know who you are…" he lifted his finger and pointed at her. "Unless you fight me here and see who is stronger."
The two of them stared in silence for a few moments, the only sound coming from the humming of the lights above. Katara couldn't believe the threat she just heard from Bakugo, trying to blackmail her into challenging her or reveal her secret not just to the class, but to everyone else. In all honesty she didn't believe he would actually do something like that, but the fact he even said something that pissed her off so much she didn't care. If this was just a ploy to get her to fight… it was certainly working.
Besides, it wasn't like she hadn't had the urge to knock some sense into him throughout their time knowing each other.
Clenching her fists, Katara walked toward Bakugo. "You want to fight? Fine… Let's fight."
Inhaling in success, Bakugo cracked his knuckles and walked towards the center of the field. Go ahead and grab the water you need. Take the whole damn pool if you think it will help you."
"You're pretty cocky for never facing me before," Katara kissed out as she walked towards the pool, earning a scoff from Bakugo.
"I've seen you fighting enough, hair loops. Besides… I want no excuses from either of us. You have all the water you need, so you better not hold back on me, damn it…"
Stretching her hands for a moment, Katara readied her stance and took a deep breath. "You want me to not hold back? Then the same goes for you!"
Lifting both hands up, Katara summoned a massive column of water from the pool and launched it upward, shooting it past herself right at Bakugo. "Let's go, hair loops!" he yelled out as his hands went forward, releasing a blast and blowing up the first portion of water. As the rest of the stream rushed at him, Bakugo quickly blasted off the ground and rushed at her. "Come on!"
Swiping her hands to the right, Katara redirected the water back toward Bakugo and gave chase, the yelling teen spinning midair and blasting at the water trying to ensnare him. While defending himself flying backwards, he still headed straight towards Katara before flipping once more and aiming a blast right at Katara. Quickly swiping her left hand, Katara formed a water shield in front of her blocking it. From her shield, several tendrils of water shot out at Bakugo, the flying teen growling as he blasted each stream from grabbing him.
"Gotta do better than that!" Bakugo shouted as he brought both of his hands together, the stronger explosion obliterating the stream completely before he turned his attention to Katara. "Show me that power you got!"
As another explosion rocked her shield, Katara gritted her teeth before launching that wave toward him, only for that one to explode as well. Quickly jumping onto the water behind her, Katara skimmed across the surface as he quickly chased her down. "He's definitely stronger as well…" Katara said to herself as she propelled herself across the water, her hand scraping the surface and pulling up a large stream up with her and shooting it towards him. The thick water whip snaked through the air trying to grab Bakugo, her opponent growling as the water encircled him and rushed inward before he blasted upward above it just as it closed together. Glaring, Katara twisted her hand and shot the water up after him, but as his hands came forward again, his veins contracted and unleashed one of his stronger blasts, obliterating the water beneath him.
"You've gotten a lot faster and stronger than before," Katara said as she encircled her body with several streams of water as he landed on the ground. "I guess training with Mirko did help you."
"I never needed help to begin with," Bakugo spat out, "I'm just using that bunny so I can kick villains' asses."
"Oh because you are so special…" Katara scoffed, making his forehead vein pulse. "You always think you are too good for everyone else, so maybe you should learn to be a bit humble sometime."
"I don't need advice from you, Hair loops!" He shot back, cupping his left hand in front of his right as it began to glow. "What I want to see is what you can do, damn it! AP Shot!"
Katara's eyes widened as instead of an explosion, a single beam shot from his hand and cut straight through her stream of water. She yelped as the attack slashed towards her, cutting straight through the ground and ripping through the grass. Skimming across the field with water, she summoned a new stream around herself and began punching the water, shooting off multiple ice spikes at Bakugo forcing him to blast through the air. As he flew around dodging a majority of them, he hissed as one of the spikes ripped through part of his shirt scraping his side. "Shit… Auto Cannon!"
As he flew up, Bakugo unleashed a torrent of blasts down like a machine gun, the explosive bullets ripping through her ice spikes. The two launched their attacks back and forth at each other, both speeding through the large field as they tried landing a hit on the other. Katara yelled as she skied past the pool and pulled out near half of the water inside, launching the wave upward towards him. To her annoyance, he blasted through the air around it, and even spun his body back and forth as she shot out several streams trying to grab him. As he rushed at her, she brought her arms up forming another ice shield just as his hands erupted. Before she could shift her shield to water and grab him, he had already spun out of the way and threw a roundhouse kick into her blocking forearms.
Several minutes went by as they continued exchanges, neither getting the upper hand as they went at one another. Katara herself admitted to herself he was certainly strong. His battle IQ was much higher than anyone else in class, and the way he moved showed he had enough experience he knew what he was doing. Fighting him now, she saw he was even more agile than Shoto was. In fact, other than with recipro burst… he may have been faster than Tenya now.
'He's much stronger than he was before...' she hissed internally as she thrust her hands upward and together, the massive streams of water rushing up her arms and snaking right towards Bakugo. He blasted upwards as the water chased after him, yelling as he kept the rushing water at bay on each side trying to grab him. Soon the water streams fully encircled him, but as they spread out to fully encircle him, an even larger blast erupted outward shattering the sphere. She could see even now, he was actually getting stronger as this fight between them went on, his sweat increasing and adding to his blasts. She even was tempted about bending the sweat away to stop his attacks, but whatever was coming from his hands wasn't in fact water. She was unable to sense the nitroglycerin he was creating, meaning she couldn't use sweatbending to her advantage. 'He... he may be stronger than Shoto is now.' She wondered in frustration, shielding herself from another blast.
Bakugo himself didn't want to admit it, but Katara was just as strong as he imagined. Her defense was proving difficult to get through, replenishing itself every time he destroyed any of it. Even now as he tried coming in close, she created what looked like massive octopus tentacles around herself blocking any explosion he launched at her. As another wave rushed at him, he was forced to use both hands to blow it up before it engulfed him, only for the thousands of droplets to now fly at him forcing him to flip out of the way before they encircled him. He was certain now she was far stronger than anyone in the class alongside Deku.
And he couldn't help but grin seeing he was going to surpass both of them.
"Not bad, hair loops. You're holding out better than I thought you would," He taunted her, sparking his hands at his sides. "But I know you still got more than that. I want to know you are at your best when I kick your ass."
"Is that so?" Katara asked as she summoned a massive stream over herself, "I was going to say the same thing to you."
"Oh yeah?! Then bring it on!" Bakugo shouted as his hands sparked out once more, running forward and blasting in the air. Katara herself launched the stream forward, beginning to shift it to her dragon technique as it flew through the air. Bakugo grinned and began spinning mid air, releasing blasts increasing his speed as he charged right at the attack to rip through it. "Howitzer Imp-
BOOSH!
Both teens eyes went wide as the water column was obliterated by a blur rushing through the air, Bakugo unable to halt his spinning before something grabbed him by the neck, gasping as he was thrown down to the ground. Katara gasped out in shock as she also was kicked in the back, flying forward and skidding across the grass toward Bakugo. Both groaned as they crawled back up, flipping around as they looked up in surprise to the newcomer. "The hell?" Bakugo grunted.
Standing there was Mirko, the rabbit hero in a gray sports bra and shorts revealing even more of her insanely ripped core. Her leg muscles twitched as she stared in rage at the two on the ground. "You want to tell me what the fuck you two are doing?!" she snapped, "What the hell are you trying to do right now?!"
Crawling up from the ground, Katara rubbed at the sore spot on her back and frowned. "We couldn't sleep so we came down here."
"And you come and try to kill each other?" Mirko hissed at the waterbender, "Instead of laying in bed and getting rest for the mission, you are doing this shit down here?"
Katara was about to say something, but Bakugo stood up first and brushed his shirt off. "I asked hair loops here to spar with me. Get some training in before tomorrow."
While Katara's mouth fell open in surprise to his cover up to their fight, Mirko continued glaring at her intern, her foot tapping rapidly in frustration. "And you thought you could just come down here and do this shit? You have no fucking idea how important this is for tomorrow, and you are risking getting hurt before we even start! You better be lucky I found you down here before Shishido saw you fucked up his room!"
While Katara stepped back to the intense yell from Mirko, Bakugo's eyebrow raised at her last statement. "I could say the same for you right now…" he muttered, earning a sharp glare from the rabbit.
"What was that?" She hissed.
"If that lion guy didn't send you down here, that means you're here for the same reason as us," He said, "Seems like you're having trouble sleeping as well because of that raptor bastard. Came to blow some steam off too?"
Mirko's ears twitched when the word raptor entered her head, breathing out as she crossed her arms and looked away. She sat for a moment before she couldn't help but chuckle. "Touche`, sparky."
Katara glanced over to Bakugo beside her, the two of them both obviously seeing something personal going on. Rubbing her arm, Katara walked towards the tan hero. She could see she was a vendetta for this guy, feeling a bit of sympathy since she had the same thing before. "This… Muteki. He hurt someone close to you, didn't he?"
Mirko's eyebrow raised as Katara spoke, watching as she continued. "I know what it feels like when someone you care about is hurt, and I get why you-
"Listen here, kid…" Mirko cut her off, "I don't need you to explain some sappy personal story to me about how you understand, because I really don't give a shit."
Taken aback by the statement, Katara's mouth fell open as Mirko reached up and poked her in the chest. "And you are dead wrong about that, too. I didn't lose anyone close to me because of him, so no… you don't understand this, then." Mirko growled out as she spun around and walked towards the side of the field.
Tilting her head in surprise, Katara followed Bakugo as he walked after the rabbit hero to the edge. "So what's the deal with this Muteki dude?" he asked, "What is pissing you off so much about this guy?"
Reaching one of the massive punch bags on the side of the field, Mirko huffed out and cracked her knuckles. "Have you ever heard of the fighting pits?" she asked, the silence afterward giving her the answer. "They were underground fighting rings set up throughout Japan, places where people could go to fight others with their quirks. Nothing held back. I was still in school when I would sneak into those places and join in on the action."
Looking back at the kids, Mirko smirked seeing both of them surprised. "What? You so shocked a hero in training was doing something illegal? I was getting annoyed that I couldn't spar in school without making the other kids cry, so I kept sneaking into places like that to cut loose. I wasn't the perfect student, even getting kicked out of my first high school for that. I loved the thrill of fighting others, testing to see how good I was."
Mirko threw a three-punch combo to the bag, grunting as she followed with a powerful uppercut. "And that's when I met him…" she hissed out, chuckling to herself as she jabbed at the back. "Tsumura Kanjen. That was his name. God damn school dropout just couldn't ever keep his grades up. But damn he could fight…" she laughed as she landed a powerful shot rocking the seven hundred kilo bag. "He was the only bastard in school that could almost keep up with me. After he dropped out, he began following me to these cage fights. Bugged the hell out of me at first, but then it became a habit for us to crash those events. God, we kicked so many asses over a few months. Hell, we began talking about starting our own club to find good challenges for us. He actually ended up being a pretty good friend to me."
As she landed a final uppercut, Mirko's face tightened to a harsh frown. "Then one day, some of the gangs there didn't like the idea of losing to kids. A group of twelve of them jumped us on our way back home, and they weren't there just to screw with us. We fought our way out of them, and…" She tightened her fists as she remembered. "A few were not holding back when they attacked him... and Kanjen ended up killing two of them by accident."
Katara's eyes widened at that, seeing the rabbit hero's fists shake. "But… he didn't mean to. You were protecting yourselves, right?"
"Yeah, and I thought that would be the end of his days fighting. But… something changed in him after that. He realized once that blood was on his claws that killing didn't bother him. In fact…" mirko's teeth clenched as she remembered his grin. "He got pleasure out of it."
Mirko growled as she threw a roundhouse kick, the impact bending the bag in half and reverberating through the area. "He went back to the cages a month later without me. This time, he beat a man so bad, and he didn't stop even when his opponent gave in. He killed another man that night, and then he realized he was good at what he did."
Wham!
Katara winced as Mirko threw another powerful kick, the impact cracking in the air. "And then he did it again."
WHAM!
"And again…"
WHAM!
"And again!"
WHAM!
The last kick nearly ripped the bag in half as the force snapped the chain connecting it, sending the back flying across the grass. Panting in frustration, Mirko gripped her forehead before taking a deeper breath to calm herself. "Once I saw what he'd become, I knew there was no trying to talk to him after that. And then six years ago, he told me he joined these hunters, and taunted me with his new name he was going by. I went after him, swearing I would make him pay for what he did, but he got away. That was the last time I saw him."
Mirko turned around facing the silent students, stretching her hands as she walked towards them. "For years I've kept an eye out for him, hoping to somehow come across him or the other members. I even came to this city when I heard rumors they were stationed here, but they kept in hiding or I was simply unlucky. Soon I went back home, eventually thinking I simply wasn't going to find them. Even after Shishido found one several years back, I assumed running into my old friend was a lost cause. And now, I have the chance to catch this bastard, and I'm not letting this slip past me."
Bakugo narrowed his gaze at the rabbit hero, seeing part of the reason she didn't work with others; the last time she did, that person ended up becoming someone she had to face. "So that's why you are facing this bastard alone." He said, earning a scoff from the pro.
"It's something like that… and it's the fact of these heroes that got called in, only a few of these guys even stand a chance against him. If Endeavor and the whale are going after the boss, and Shishido is hitting the other spot, then I am taking on this guy myself. He's mine to finish."
Katara swallowed as Mirko finished, now understanding her desire for this mission now. The air fell silent for a bit as the three stared at one another, the rabbit hero sighing first and rubbing her head before snickering to herself. "The hell… I guess I can't be giving you two much shit with me doing the same thing. But both of you are lucky I found you instead of the others. Shishido sleeps like a rock so he's not getting up, and Endeavor didn't stay here."
Now that the tension had somewhat lifted, Katara took a breath as she rubbed her head. Her eyes then widened as she looked around, seeing the field littered with chunks of earth missing everywhere, chunks of ice spread throughout, and the pool practically empty now. "Uhh… what do we say about this?"
Forcing out a chuckle, Mirko shook her head. "I'll say I watched over this sparring match and cover the cost. Just get your ass up to bed. Now. even if it's just recruits you are going after, you better be at your best when you face them."
Growling, Bakugo shoved his hands into his pockets and walked towards the exit. Katara stared at the rabbit hero for a little longer, watching as the woman cracked her knuckles a few more times and walked towards one of the other work out bags, kicking at the bag to get more of her frustration out. Letting a sigh out, Katara turned and made it to the exit, quickly catching up to Bakugo as they walked up the stairs. She glanced over at the teen beside her, frowning as he glared back at her.
"Don't think this is over, Hair Loops. We are going to finish this match after this mission." He declared.
"Fine. I haven't got my frustration out on you, either." She retorted, taking a breath before rubbing her arm. "And… I know you were bluffing by the way."
Scoffing, Bakugo cracked his neck. "I'm not some damn rat who gives out others secrets. That's your business to keep or give to anyone else."
Katara sighed at the idea, beginning to realize this secret she was keeping from her friends had been going on for so long now. Perhaps it would be better to tell them once she got back. She was about to say something else to Bakugo, but held her tongue as he opened the door to his room and glanced back at her. "We didn't finish this tonight, but we will see who is better tomorrow."
As he shut his door, Katara sighed and walked down the hall to her room, quietly closing the door as she sat down on the bed. Now that she was here, she suddenly felt tired now. It wasn't from the fight itself she just had, but from the tension hanging over her head from Bakugo's curiosity. She felt more relaxed seeing despite his annoying tendencies, Bakugo simply wanted a straightforward answer to who she was, and didn't care she wasn't from this place. She then suddenly felt a strange sensation inside herself, knowing exactly what it was as she brought her knuckles together and focused.
A few moments later, she opened her eyes and saw Kyoshi standing there, the tall avatar in a blue glow. "You wanted to speak to me?" Katara asked.
Kyoshi gave a small nod. "I am surprised you didn't mention me to your friend there."
Katara frowned at the term used for Bakugo, with acquaintance being more accurate. "Right now, one thing at a time is probably better to accept. Especially with everything going on tomorrow."
"Perhaps…" Kyoshi then frowned herself at the waterbender. "I am surprised you still held back. You said you were going to not do that, and you still didn't use something you've been practicing."
Katara huffed out and rubbed her head. "I told you… It's not really coming that easy. It's different from when I tried it with healing."
Kyoshi gave a small sigh as she crossed her hands. She had begun trying to teach Katara how to tap into the energy inside of herself, giving demonstrations during her dreams so she saw how to work it. When Katara tried doing it herself, however, she just couldn't figure it out. While she was in the field fighting, she had tried tapping into it for practice, but it just wasn't working. The former avatar didn't know if it was an emotional barrier, or something else keeping the teen from accessing it. "It's important you master this power inside of you. You need to keep practicing so you can use it to your advantage."
"I know…" Katara nodded, "I will figure this out. At least tomorrow I won't be alone when we fight these villains."
"Yes, that is true…" Kyoshi couldn't help but chuckle as she smirked. "Too bad you couldn't be on the mission with Mirko. It would allow me to see her more."
Katara raised her eyebrow at the avatar. "Really?" she deadpanned, sighing as Kyoshu gave a shrug.
"You can't deny she is quite the site to look at, even for someone who isn't into other girls."
Rolling her eyes, Katara smiled and grabbed her legs. "Maybe I can get an autograph for you, how about that?"
Laughing, Kyoshi shook her head at the remark. "Let's just focus on the mission for tomorrow. Get your rest, and call me if you ever need anything."
As Kyoshi faded away and flowed back inside herself, Katara huffed out and placed her hands on the bed. She glanced up to the ceiling above and let her mind wander for a bit, suddenly feeling the exhaustion begin catching up to her now. She laid back onto the bed, not even thinking about changing out of her clothes as she yawned. Closing her eyes, she let her mind wander about what could be so dangerous about these villains, which only lasted about a minute before she fell asleep. She rolled on her side and hugged her pillow, snoring lightly as she fell into her dreams.
Notes: Oh ho ho! Seems we got another addition to Katara's secret group! Bakugo now has an idea of what our waterbender can do! (And yes, Bakugo produces Nitroglycerine from his hands, which is not a water based substance for her to bend.)
And I know... the raid begins next chapter. But as I was writing it, the tone shift felt like too much to be in the same chapter, so I had to split it for a better flow. don't worry, the next installment is already coming soon, and it won't disappoint, I promise you that.
