I don't really remember if I posted yesterday so I just decided to post two more chapters in case I need to make up for missing a day of posting.

Chapter Fifteen: More News

FANG'S POV

Once again, we are at the fountain drinking smoothies and waiting for Simpson to tell us more "ground breaking" news. It's probably about the dinner with his grandparents in a week.

"Can you tell us now, Simpson?" says Ivy who has already finished her smoothie. She is sitting next to me, head on my shoulder.

We cleared the air and now, we are dating. At first, I felt like a cheater until I realized that I can't worry about it. Max isn't here. Plus, I'm happy. Ivy is great. I'm great.

"Yes. I just found out that my grandparents aren't only visiting. They're moving here! Isn't it great?"

We nod because there's no sense in saying otherwise. "Oh, and the freak I was telling you guys about? Well it isn't a freak, that's my bad. It's a girl our age who is coming to live with friends of my grandpa. Apparently, she is working for him, which is odd because she is only eighteen."

"Maybe she's a criminal and has to do military service to get out of going to jail." says Jessica who is messing with Iggy's hair.

Simpson nods like it totally makes sense before finishing his smoothie. "I need to get going again. My ma wants me to be cleaning up the house when they arrive in a few days."

We say our farewells then we all walk hand in hand towards the beach. "What do you think the new girl will be like? She's probably going to be going to school while she's doing her community service." says Jessica, throwing out her smoothie.

"She sounds like bad news to me." says Ivy, looking around.

"Well, we'll find out next week." Iggy sighs and I nod. We say goodbye to the girls before heading back towards the house.

"You know what's weird?" Iggy asks after a few minutes of silence.

"What?"

"I think there is something fishy about that new girl."

I give him a skeptical look. "Why? We haven't even met her yet."

"I know. I just got this weird feeling."

I stop, fiddling with the straw of my unfinished smoothie. "Like the ones we used to get during our time on the run?"

Iggy nods, looking in the direction of the ocean. "Yeah. That's exactly the feeling."

"Should we tell the others?"

He only shakes his head. "It's probably nothing. We've been safe for over three years now. Everyone's happy. We're both finally happy."

I nod because we are. "Let's just be more cautious, then. See how the new girl is before saying anything to the Flock. Like you said, it's probably nothing."

As I walk home though, I have a strange feeling as well. I guess paranoia never really leaves you.
