This is a sad attempt before I update Unmasked. It probably won't be a oneshot either, because I have no luck at stopping my creative juices, no matter how terrible they are. As before, I don't own characters, or items from the game.

Brushing feather-light kisses across a beloved's forehead, a hand clasps another to retain that desperate connection. No, they won't let this person go. Surrounded on both sides, she lies in the middle, chest a spontaneous rise and fall of breath that can't be a healthy tempo. One of the boys is crying, the other so red-eyed that he was about to start again. A nurse is checking her pulse, cold formaldehyde scenting her bleached uniform. Scratching the count on a clipboard, she adjusts the sheets, then leaves the trio.

One of them relinquishes their grip on the young lady's hand, wiping his face free of wetness so he could see what he was doing. Fingers scrambling for an object in his jacket, he pulls it out, a small golden star held in his palm. "You wanna, or should I?"

"I'll do it," the other one answers, taking the fruit and biting from it. Tartness makes him grimace for a moment, then the bitter flavor gives way to the sickly sweet flesh as he chews. But he doesn't swallow-instead, he bends over, placing his lips over the girls and pushing with his tongue.

After he sits up, they both wait until the movement in her throat ceases. Not knowing if their plan would work, they each proceed to take a bite quickly. Her heart monitor begins to flatline, but outwardly she does not move. They join hands across her stomach, white-knuckled as the never-ending beep becomes the only audible sound. By the time the same nurse dashes in with a doctor at her heels, they are all gone. Their circle of hands remains connected, a letter lying in the middle of the hospital bed.

Soon after, the doctor beginning the difficult paperwork, and the nurse quietly unhooking the equipment, their parents appear. One is the mayor of their city, his daughter the one on the bed. Neat script in small words takes a third of the page, followed by an elder-feeling paragraph, than a sloppy-but-legible mass of words. He reads the letter aloud.

" I, Kairi Senmei, of stable health in body and mind, do hereby give permission to both Sora Hakara and Riku Mizaki to keep me from suffering in the situation of inevitable death. This was my decision and mine alone. Mom, Dad, I love you, and thank you for taking me in.

I, Riku Mizaki, in stable health of mind and body, do hereby give permission both Sora Hakara and Kairi Senmei to keep me from suffering in the situation of inevitable death. This was my decision and mine own alone. Mom, I hope you find someone better than Dad.

I, Sora Hakara, of stable health in body and mind, do hereby give permission to Riku Mizaki and Kairi Senmei to keep me from suffering in the situation of inevitable death. This was my decision and mine alone. Mom, I love you, and tell Selphie, Wakka and Tidus that we love them ,too."

"It's a shame that they didn't just wait a few more hours until it got here," the nurse murmured, sealing the poisoned paopu fruit in a plastic bag. "They found a transplant donor for her this morning."

I think this needs more of something. If you do as well, you should review.
