Chapter Thirty-nine: Vows
Mai pov
Staring at the haunted mirror while I fixed myself as much as possible while Naru is downstairs getting ready, I felt my hands sweating from being so nervous.
This is happening, I'm going to get married, I mean the ceremony itself. I even gave my ring to Naru so he can give it to me to make it more real.
"Angel!" I heard my name being called out from the window.
"Oh no, Ayame," I felt my heart leap anxiously as I rushed downstairs to expect to see Naru, but he wasn't around.
Where did Naru go?
I frowned as I rushed my steps to see Ayame floating out, smiling at me gently.
"Ayame, we will help you, we have been trying, but not today, please." I felt so unease by this as I fist my hand.
"I'm not here to give you clues or warn you, be at ease, my Angel. I just want to help." She tells me softly. My heart became at ease at her words while breathing out.
"Thank God. Naru wants to marry me today, he asked me half an hour ago." I told her feeling anxious again but from the wedding. She floats closer to the window.
"In the secrete trap door, there's an extra chest, open it up and there's going to be a gift for you. Also, I made this." Ayame floats me a bouquet of a ring of white flowers. I grasp them in my hand and gasped at how beautiful they look. It's small but well made and sturdy.
"Wear that," She said kindly and with that she disappears, I felt so touched by this gesture I look at the window.
"Thank you!" I shout as I turned around and smiled.
"Naru will love this, I have to get ready before it gets late." with that I went to the secret trap door on which Naru and I found in our first year where she told me to and opened it. I reached down and began to touch the floor, but I didn't feel anything and frowned.
"I know there's nothing in here, Naru made sure of that… Wait, what is this?" I blinked as I felt my fingers brush against which felt woodsy in the far corner of the right. Struggling a bit my fingers manage to grasp the edge and pull it out and with a bit of struggle, but manage as I took out an old wooden box.
Placing it on the floor I blew it since it's cover with dust and manage to cough, but after I recovered, I pushed the pin-up and opened the wooden box open. I tentatively look down and my eyes widen to see a white wedding dress. I reached down and picked it up. It was brand new looking, just like the rest of the clothes, no age has touched it as well some pair of white gloves that fell to the ground after I took them out.
I picked them up and arched a brow, as I expected them.
Why does this look familiar to me? I thought about where I have seen them as I slump my shoulders.
Wait, the ship, these are the same gloves that were on top of the bed, before the storm came in. Wait why are they here and look brand new? I have to tell Naru about it.
I place that in my mind and inspected the dress and it's white, long and the bottom part is puff out, I look back into the wooden box to see a beautifully laced vial and some white heels, that looks like it was from the back of the day, but never the less so beautiful.
"This had to be Ayame's wedding dress." I run my fingers through the material, feeling it soft to the touch. My heart warms up as I look out the window.
"Thank you Ayame, thank you so much and I promise to speak to Naru about the white gloves." I stood up and began to head up when the door suddenly opens. I stop in my tracks to see Naru not entering since I could see the back of his head only half of his body.
"Naru?"
"Meet me at the beach in an hour okay?" he said causing me to raise a brow.
"At the beach? I thought we were going to get married near the treehouse." I was now getting scared that something happened, but Naru shook his head.
"Nothing bad happened Mai, just get dressed, and meet me at the beach, I'll be waiting for you there, remember in an hour." with that he shuts the door behind him. I blinked a bit confused by this new change, but at least he didn't call it off and reassured me that everything is fine. I press the dress against my chest and smiled.
"Alright," I smiled at myself feeling my heart race with excitement as I ran up the stairs.
...
...
I tied my hair in a braid and made it loop on my hair with it, it looks decent, and I cut my bangs to give me a different look. I manage to clean up on the progress since I didn't want our honeymoon to be ruined. I look very different with my bangs cut off. I place on the wedding dress from the bottom up and struggled to put on the zipper, but after a few tries, I managed to zip it.
The dress fits me like a glove, which makes me believe that Ayame was about my size. The bottom part puffs out, and halfway it clings into my body perfectly. The top part is covered in this circle patterns that connect to the short sleeves which are made out of lace as well.
Wow, this dress is old-fashioned but so beautiful, I never thought I would wear one. I ran my hands through the fabric.
I did my make-up, with a light pink eye blush and a tint of red. The same makeup that I discover all those years ago, still new. Then I grabbed the ring flower that Ayame gave me and place it on my head which matched the wedding dress, and clip on the long vial. I stare at myself in the haunted mirror to see what difference I look. (I even wore the gloves since they match the outfit.)
"Please don't ruin it for us, I beg of you, don't come out and ruin it for us tonight. I don't know if today will be the big day if we finally consummate our matrimony, even if we don't, I want this to be a beautiful and relaxing night. As much as possible." I cup my hands together and begged the lady. With that, I stood up, and realization dawns on me.
I'm going down to my wedding, my wedding.
I nervously rub my hands together feeling my heart about the leave me. I place my gloved covered hand over my heart trying to ease myself.
Taking a big breath turned to head downstairs picking up the bottom of the dress so I won't ruin it and as soon I reach the bottom, I place on the heels, luckily the heels aren't too tall for me to be uncomfortable.
Upon reaching the outside, I look at the twilight sky and took a big breath then I went down the stairs, only to notice on the ground white peddles of flowers leading a pathway. I arched a brow confused by this.
"Naru didn't' do this, he isn't this romantic." I frowned when I heard.
"You're right, your husband isn't this bold," I turned behind me to look at Ayame and a smile appeared on my lips.
"Thank you," I told her honestly and she simply nods.
"Ayame, please come. I want one witness, at least." I pleaded her
"My Angel. Be very happy. You are so blessed, soon you'll be very blessed, but not just yet." She tells me. I didn't like the last part, but I felt touched either way.
"Thank you Ayame, for everything," I whispered, going down the steps, but then stop, when I felt something pop on my hands. Looking down, a dozen flowers appeared, beautiful different types with many different colors, that smell beautiful.
"I present to you, you look beautiful," Ayame whispers to me. I smiled, feeling tears about to fall. I wish mama was here and the others.
"Now, go, he's waiting."
With that, I went to follow the pedals.
Upon reaching the beach, my breath caught and tears run down my cheeks looking in shock. The walkway is laid out with a long white blanket that reaches Naru, with bonfires in a long line making a pathway to illuminate our way.
There stood My Naru with elegant black pants, with a white-suited shirt that fit him perfectly with a few undone buttons with his hairbrush up giving him an edgy look I began to feel my speeding heart racing even more. Our eyes locks and I knew this is real, that even though we are married, this felt right. After today, I will belong to Naru and he'll belong to me.
My Naru, we've been through so much and survived for six almost seven years on this island. I am afraid that I wake up one day to find out that this is all a dream. You are my love, my life, no one can understand our feelings. No one can understand how much we love each other.
Naru's eyes are soft and deep causing my heart to tremble so much as he extends his arm for me. I was about to take a step towards him when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jump in fright, turning around to see someone I never thought I would see. I gasped covering my mouth as more tears run down my cheeks.
"Would you give me the honor to walk you down the aisle?" I nodded at him as Gene smiles at me gently.
"I would love that Gene, so very much."
Naru Pov
An Hour before:
I was a nervous wreck.
"I'm getting married, I mean I'm already married, but getting married with consent and the whole nine yard, I wish others would be here, especially Gene..." I felt my heart clenched at the thought but shrugged it off as I kept looking for what to wear as I heard Mai upstairs doing something. I rub my head in frustration when I heard a voice behind me.
Why is getting married is nerve-wracking than dealing with a ghost? What in the world?
"Do you need a best man?" I heard a familiar voice causing me to go still and turned around to see Gene standing near the door there smiling broadly. My heart stops for a second as I blinked registering that my older brother is right in front of me.
"Gene?" I barely said as he places his finger up to his mouth.
"Come, follow me, but first take the first suit on the bottom of the chest, that's the best and classiest." he chimes happily with a wink. I went up to him and without hesitation I hugged him, feeling so many emotions at once as Gene pats my back. I shivered from the impact of the cold, but I didn't' care.
"I should kill you," I said as I look back at him.
"It's too late, I'm already dead Noll." he chuckles as I rolled my eyes at him.
"What brings you here?" I asked feeling excited to see my older brother, but remained cool, even though my heart is pounding hard.
"You need a best man Noll, and Ayame let me borrow her time for a little bit," he tells me.
I need to thank her.
"Hurry, I'll make this romantic for you two," Gene added returning me to reality.
"We don't need romantic, we can.." but Gene sighs at me.
"Just grab your things and follow me. This is your wife we are talking about Noll, not some random person. She puts up with your crap all the time, at least give her a memorable wedding ceremony." he said as he disappears from my sight. I sigh as I glance up, with that I went to do what Gene told me to.
O.o
"What are you doing?" I asked Gene as he throws white peddles on the floor, from the bottom of the stairs of the treehouse heading down towards the beach. I scratched my head as he came back after a few minutes.
"There, you have no romantic bone in your body Noll, go and tell Mai to meet you at the beach in an hour, but don't show yourself, she's holding her wedding dress. It's bad luck to see it," he said.
"Okay? Is not like I have seen that dress before." I felt awkward by that as I opened the door and poked halfway looking at Gene, so he can see I'm not cheating. He kept an eye on me.
"Meet me at the beach in an hour okay?" I yelled so she can hear me.
"At the beach? I thought we were going to get married near the treehouse." I could tell Mai got anxious and scared, but I shook my head to give her assurance.
"Nothing bad happened, just get dressed Mai, and meet me at the beach, I'll be waiting for you there, remember in an hour." I firmly told her as I closed the door.
"There, happy?" I said a bit gruff as I went down the stairs being careful to not ruin his work. Gene floated at my side as I headed for the beach with my clothes at hand.
As I entered the beach, Gene claps his hands.
"Now make small bonfires lined them up making a pathway heading near the boulders, and there's a white sheet you can use, it's folded on top of the boulders. I assure you that's the perfect spot that the waves won't miss anything," he said. I arched a brow looking at him.
"What makes you think I want this?"
"Because you love her don't you and I'm sure you want this too, I try my best to not make it girly for you." he winks while I slump my shoulders as I couldn't argue with that.
"Thanks, Gene." I sincerely mean it.
I mean it since I wouldn't think of this, he always the man with the plan when it comes to the opposite sex.
"See, let's hurry, just small bonfires, so you won't waste time. Then get dressed, I'll take care of the rest," he said. I nodded as I went to do what he asked me, and the best part of this, I had my big brother helping me out.
…
…
"There, you're so handsome, I can't believe I'm witnessing my little brother's wedding." Gene prides up at me as he dusted my shoulders after I came around from getting dressed for the third time today. I look at my brother feeling so sad and remorseful.
"Why haven't you come to visit us?" I asked him. Gene lowers his hand and frowns, as sadness came over his eyes.
"You two were wanted, I couldn't do much. This island is particular, so it takes a lot for me to be here."
"Is that why Ayame and you switch?" I asked him.
"Borrow time Oliver," he reminds me. I nodded at him.
"That, why?"
"Why? Aren't you smart enough to put two and two together?" he asks me. I cross my arms as I look out the horizon.
"Ten means ten years, we got that, we still don't' know how Sasuke and Alice are related to this or the ghosts in this island, but I have a hunch they were sacrificed for some ritual that went wrong. Kyoko told me that Mai has a special gift that all the souls can see and I'm her guardian to always protect her." I admit to him. Gene listens carefully to me and wraps his cold arm around my shoulders making me shiver.
"See smart, yes ten years you must remain, but not everything is what it seems Noll. I do warn you when you two are saved, you'll have a shock of your lifetime, don't worry they are still looking for you two." I arched a brow.
"Shock? We? It's been almost seven years Gene, nothing shocks me anymore on this island or when we live." I told him. Gene shook his head.
"Trust me, it will shock both of you, Black Lagoon is a special island that many wish to have, but it's a curse itself."
"I see then, whatever happens, will happen," I told him as I look at my brother.
"I miss you a lot," I told him as Gene nods.
"Me too, but I'm always watching you two, especially you Noll. I can't leave my little brother alone."
"Hey, I'm not little, I'm twenty-seven, I'm getting old." I defended as Gene stretch his arm and rubs my head making me tilt down and he smiles broadly.
"Old man then, life is so short isn't Noll? When we are young we think we have everything, but as soon you hit your twenties, it goes so fast? Next thing you know, you're in your fifties." he said to me. I lift my gaze to see the sadness in his eyes, making my heartache.
He must be missing being alive. It's not fair, here I'm living mine, and he's here as a ghost. He's just fifteen for the rest of his life.
"It's not that exciting getting old Gene, trust me."
"You have someone you love and love you back, you have our parents and you can have a family and you have awesome friends and that I can never have. Noll, listen to me. Don't let work overcome you, use it as a source of living, yes, but don't let what true happiness slip out of your hands. A woman like Mai is not easy to find. No one will love you the way she does. Don't ever neglect your kids or your wife because you will regret it. Being dead means you regret a lot of things you wish you can have done when you're alive."
"I learned that the hard way Gene, I understand the value of life is more important than anything. I think after being so long on this island, I can't separate from Mai, I get anxious if I do or go crazy. I don't think we'll be the same when we return." I admit to him.
"You'll have a difficult time adjusting, as humans, you two can't live without each other after so long being together and going through so much, it's normal to react like that. I do agree, you two being separated will be the hardest thing, after all, you two been through, and what awaits." I didn't like that as I felt a strange sensation in my heart.
"Something is going to happen to Mai?" I asked.
"Just enjoy your wedding night." he simply said. I frowned at his statement, after all, little did I knew how much his words will mean shortly.
"Fine, is not like we haven't solved anything before." I dryly stated causing him to chuckle as he ruffles my hair, as though he was picking it up.
"Thank you for coming, this means a lot to me," I told him. Gene nods and pats my shoulder.
"I wouldn't miss my little brother's wedding. Plus I love Mai, she's the most beautiful girl I ever met," he said and before I could remark, he disappears. I sigh, shaking my head and then I heard a gasp. I turned to see Mai looking at me.
My world stops as Mai stood there and our eyes connect, feeling my heart hammering hard against my chest, and I knew that I belong to her, as she belongs to me.
Mai, we have been through so much and survived for six almost seven years on this island. I'm afraid that if I wake up one day and you aren't beside me, but it was all a dream on which you aren't mining, but an illusion of my deepest desire. You are my love and my life and no one can understand the way I love you, the way you love me, the way we love each other. I don't ever what we have to ever die because being in love is one of the few most beautiful experiences I have ever been blessed with.
Mai is dressed in an actual wedding dress I have never seen before, it fit her so beautifully, with her hair up in a braid form and has bangs, that's new. Her hair is cover with a ring of white flowers and a long lace vial. She looks breath taken causing my hands to become nervous. I couldn't' stop looking at her as Gene poped behind her and she turns to be shocked, but they end up conversing with each other.
I fixed myself and nervously awaited. Never in my life, I felt so nervous as I saw Mai wrap her arm around my brother's and he began to escort her down the path that leads to me.
Each step she took, the more nervous I became, but her brown eyes remain on mines as a smile lit on her lips but I could feel she's nervous. I fist my hand as Gene and Mai finally reached me and Gene took her gloved hand and takes my hand and hands it over to me.
"Take good care of each other, Noll remember, she's your wife and you must treat her with respect and love. Mai, he's your husband and treats him the same way, any trouble always talk about it and find a way around it and listen to each other. You two are soulmates, destine to be together and love deeply." he stated at us.
We both nodded as Mai looks back at me and I gave her a shy smile.
"Now exchange vows," Gene stated as he took a step to my side.
"Okay, question, who goes first?" She asks Gene causing me and Gene to chuckle.
"You may go first," I said before Gene could. Mai looks back at me and nods. Taking a deep breath she looks down at the floor.
"Give me a second, I'm so nervous, I feel like my heart is going to leave me," she said. I nodded, as I tighten my hold on her.
"Oliver Davis," she began looking back at me.
"Yes?" I arched a brow as she shook her head.
"I told you, I'm nervous, okay. Oliver Davis, the moment I met you in my old high school, I thought you were handsome, but a prick." she came out strongly. I rose both of my brows up as Gene cover his mouth with his hand trying to not laugh.
"Okay? Isn't that romantic." I said dryly. Mai shook her head.
"Then, I began to know you slowly and you gave me a job and a family. You gave me a chance and open a whole new world that I thought I lost so long ago. I think I began to like you when you began to protect me and when you finally smiled, a real smiled that reached your blue eyes. I fell in love because I saw your true self." she takes a deep breath.
I remember, I truly felt content and wanted to show her, didn't mean to make her fall in love with me, but now I'm here.
"You are stubborn, cold, talk only when is a necessity and big words. Yet, little did I knew you were hurting because you lost someone so close to you, someone special, your big brother Gene. I was so blessed to meet Gene through my dreams and love him as my big brother. I… When I confessed to you, I meant you Shibuya, not Gene. You and your brother are two different people, just with the same face is all. We've been through so much, especially after being stranded on this island we have become closer and learn about each other on a whole new level and continue to do so." she took a big breath and looks straight at my eyes.
"I, Mai Taniyama," she blushed while taking a big breath.
"Take Oliver Davis, Shibuya Kazuya, as my lawful husband to hold and to care, in sickness and on health. In the rich or poor and the good and the bad." She stops, biting her lower lip.
"Sorry, I don't know the right terms, but I never thought I would come a day, that I will be here with you exchanging vows. I never thought that you would love me back. My heart is racing too fast. I'm nervous, and…" she starts to cry, as I take hold of her right hand. Running my thumb across her gloved knuckles, feeling my eyes sting, wanting to cry as well.
I feel the same.
"I never loved anyone as much as I do with you. I wish Mama and Papa could be here and the others, and your parents. God made you for me for giving me a family, and a home. I don't know how to repay you. I know in the future we will have arguments, and our up and downs, but I don't want to ever leave you. I'm yours until death does us apart. Silly me, I'm crying like a baby," she gasps out, as I move to wipe her eyes feeling my heart warm up at her sincere declaration of love which means so much to me.
Well is my turn.
I cleared my throat, trying to find a way to begging this.
"You don't have to say anything. Just this is enough." She assures me, but I shook my head and then I bend down on my knees. Mai's eyes widen, as I took a hold of her small hands, I can feel Gene smiling in the background.
"I don't deserve you, at all." I finally said, as her eyes widen with fresh tears.
"Naru, what..." I shook my head, to stop her.
"Let me finish." Taking in a big breath, feeling my eyes sting from unshed tears.
"Forgive me for all the things I did in the past. Forever making you feel not worthy. I apologize for that and I hope you accept it." I told her as Mai kept looking at me.
"I do. You know that." She whispers causing my heart to become at ease. I stood and took a hold of her hand.
"I, Oliver Davis, take Mai Taniyama as my lawful wife, to hold and to love, and the good and the bad, rich or poor. Until death does us apart." I whispered, then I took a breath.
"You're the first in my life to turn my world upside down. You're a constant magnet to danger always getting in the way. I don't deserve you because, besides that fault, you'll be the most generous person ever, the kindest and purest woman that I have ever met. I don't know what I did in the past to deserve you." I whispered watching Mai crying even more.
"I don't know how you did it, but you broke my shield, that I made up over the years. You taught me many things and you made me become a better man, and I'm still learning since I'm not perfect and I will make mistakes. Our road won't be easy, it hasn't since we met but we always pull through. All I want is you to stay by my side until we grow old. I don't want no one but you." I declare while I took out her ring she gave me earlier and took it out from my pocket. Looking up I took her hand and slip the ring on her ring finger on top of the glove.
(I did took notice it looks familiar, but I'll ask later.)
Then I gave her mines, and she does the same with shaky hands slips my wedding ring on my ring finger.
"I do," we both said at the same time causing us to laugh as the memory when we read the mysterious folded paper came into mind.
I heard Gene clap next to me as we heard.
"Now I re-pronounce you, Husband and Wife, for the second time. God has blessed this union until death does you two apart." Ayame's voice echoed around us.
"Now you can kiss the bride Noll," Gene spoke next to me with a nudge on my shoulders. I look at Mai as she looks very shy, I felt even more nervous, but took a step forward and lowered myself tilting my head and slowly closing my eyes, I kiss her cheek softly feeling her smile broadly.
"That's not a kiss, kiss her on the lips," Gene complains causing my cheeks to turn warm.
"Let it go," I said as I turned to give my brother a heartfelt look. Gene sneers at me, crossing his arms in disappointment.
I rolled my eyes at him as I went up to him.
"Thank you for coming and being my best man and walking Mai," I told him as he came up to me and gives me his cold hugs, causing me to hug him back.
You have no idea how much this means to me, I wish I could tell you.
"Wouldn't miss this for the world, and for a dead person, I can be more romantic than you." he teased me with a wink as he lets go of me and went to Mai to hug her too. Mai tearily laughs hugging Gene back with great emotion as they sway back and forth.
"Thank you so much, it means so much for us for you to come. You are the best Gene and we love you so much," she said as Gene separated from her and smiled.
"Glad to know that and I am loved so much by my two favorite people," he said warmly and then sadness pass his eyes.
"Do you always watch us?" Mai changes the subject as she rubs his arm. Gene nods.
"Always," then her cheeks flames up.
"Eii, even when um, Naru and I are intimate?" she blushed so hard causing Gene to laugh and I felt my face turn hot as well. He shook his head.
"I'm not a pervert Mai, I don't go beyond that. Ayame told me about your wedding today, it's all, but I'm always up to date with you two," she assures her causing Mai and me to breathe out in relief.
"Thank you," Mai whispers as Gene nods, and then that sadness came over him once again.
"I have to go, my time is up," he said, my heart tightens as I didn't want this reunion to end, but he gave me an assured smile.
"We'll meet again, don't worry, remember this is the Black Lagoon where anything can happen." he winks and with that, he slowly began to fade. Mai takes my hand as she takes notice of my pain to watch my brother leave.
Don't leave, I just got you back.
"Oh, by the way, congratulations have a good honeymoon." he teased with a chuckle as he leaves us alone.
"Then see you soon Gene, we'll see you soon," Mai said taking the words right out of my mouth, as this pain came rushing in my heart. Mai moves her hand and place it on my back and began to rub it gently and sadness came over her eyes.
It will never be easy to get over my brother's death.
Mai Pov
I can tell Naru is so sad about the departure of his brother, which made me sad as well. I turned to look at my husband once again.
"Naru,"
"Hmm?" he turns to face me as his eyes are red as though unshed tears are held back.
"I loved that he came even if it was short-lived," I told him honestly causing him to give me a small nod of approval.
"Me too," he agrees as he rubs his thumb across my gloved hand.
"I love what you did here, it's very romantic. Thank you." I told him, he shook his head and suddenly slips his arm around my waist pulling me close to him.
"Gene's idea," he said as he leans down to bury his face on the crook of my neck which I began to caress the side of his head.
"Then he's great, I would like to know what dating tips he's taking in the afterlife, you could get some tips." I teased causing Naru to chuckle.
"I'll make sure to take notes next time," I was not sure he was being serious or pulling my leg, but I felt him kiss my neck causing me to shiver as he rose himself and smiled at me tenderly as his sadness lifted.
"Then what do we do now?" I asked a bit lost as Naru pulls me into his embrace and began to sway me.
"Dance with me." He said. I lilt my head up and blinked.
"There's no music,"
"Just pretend we have one." He said as we began to dance back and forth. I lay my head against his shoulder closing my eyes.
"You look very handsome Naru," I told him.
"As you look beautiful Mai, you even gave yourself a new look." My heart flutters at his compliment.
"You took notice?" I teased feel him nod.
"Of course, the bangs are new and the ring of flowers it's a nice touch."
"Is not that bad?" I question, feeling him shake his head as he slips his hand on mine to extend it and we began to dance side by side.
Wow, he's really good.
"No, it looks good on you, you look a bit different, but my wife is so beautiful." He tells me making me feel so joyful making me smile so much at him. For the next few minutes, we continue to dance.
"The gloves look familiar," he said out of the blue. I nodded, as he twirls me around, and pulls me back to his embrace, which I loved.
"They were on top of the bed, before we got here, remember?" I asked him. He thought it back, then he nods at me.
"Oh, yeah, I remember because a bird made the top of your head as his bathroom." He said causing me to blush in embarrassment.
"Oi, I forgot about that detail," I complained causing him to shrug at me.
"I never did," he admits. I squint my eyes, now curious why, but refused to ask.
"Then we'll figure it out later," I told him not wanting to push the subject any longer.
"Sure, we'll think of it later, much later." He said as we continue to sway with the imaginary music, which I could almost hear it.
Then all of the sudden, he rose me up causing me to gasp and I look down at him and place my hands on top of his shoulders.
"Ne, Naru?" I said startled while he gave me an easy look as I move my gloved hand to brush his cheeks tenderly.
"Thank you for marrying me, again," he said to me. I shook my head as I leaned down and kiss his lips gently.
"Thank you for accepting me, thank you for trusting your life to me. Thank you for your love, Naru." I told him honestly. He gave me a soft look which I love so much and couldn't help but dip down and kiss his lips once again, feeling him return them, making smacking sounds. I ended up laughing as he placed me down.
He held me tighter as we continue to dance at the imaginary song and to be honest, we had fun.
"Clumsy feet," he said as I stepped on his shoes. I rolled my eyes at him.
"Hey, I'm unprofessional, not clumsy," I told him honestly causing him to chuckle.
"Hmm,"
"Hmm," I teased him while I gave him a serious look as I puck out my lips at him in a mocking matter. He began to tickle my side causing me to burst out laughing.
"No, you ruined... our dance," I said between laughter as I pulled away from him and took out my tongue at him in a playful matter.
"I told you I'll be doing something with that tongue of yours come here!" he said a bit playfully and with that he began to chase me down the coast causing me to squeal.
"No, Naru, don't you dare!" I shout as I continue to run, while Naru continued to chase me having the best time of our lives.
We wouldn't change this day even if we had to relive it because being with Naru is worth it.
...
...
"What are you doing?" I asked Naru as we walked down the seashore, Naru stopped for a brief moment as he took a stick and began to write in English, an hour later after we said our vows.
"Testing you." I arched a brow to him.
"Now turn around," he said to me. I slump my shoulders and turned around.
"Hey, this is our wedding day, not a testing day," I said feeling disappointed by this, but heck this is Naru.
I cross my arms looking over the horizon.
"Just because is our wedding day... doesn't mean I let you off the hook," he said between puffs. I giggled as I rubbed my arms.
Mama, I wish you were here, today was my special day. I married my husband again. I know understand your words, thank you for making me meet Naru when we were little. I wish you could have met him now.
I smiled tenderly at my thoughts when I felt two arms snake around my waist and it causes me to lean against him.
"You're done?" I smiled feeling Naru nod at me. I turn slightly to look at him as he has his eyes on the horizon as well.
"Do you wish to sleep out here tonight?" he asks me. I felt nervous at his question but shrugged at him.
"I don't know, whatever you wish to sleep," I said while I swallowed hard.
Are we going to make love tonight? Is it going to be the grand night when we become one? Oh no, I'm too nervous.
Naru takes notice of my nervousness that he rubs my arms trying to comfort me.
"Alright, let just spend a few more hours out here," he said gently. I leaned my head against him, closing my eyes.
"I would love that, but what did you write?" I asked.
"I want to test your English." he only said as he slowly turns me around and I glance over what he wrote, thank God for the bonfire which illuminated around. I covered my mouth as fresh tears run down my cheeks as I read what he wrote.
I soaked in the writing for a whole minute then I look at my husband.
"Naru," I gasped out crying with such emotion, which I couldn't control.
"I'm sorry if I never get to say them as you do, but this is the closest thing I can assure you that everything I feel is true," he said as he wipes my cheeks with his folded fingers. I nodded at him as I wrap my arms around his shoulders hunching him down to give him a warm hug.
"Thank you, I love you Naru, I love you with every fiber of my being," I said to him as he wraps his arms around me and nods.
"I truly mean it as well Mai, thank you for loving me so profoundly." He whispers into my ear as I look at him to see a tear roll down his eyes. My heart warms up because this time this tear isn't from us going through something bad, no, but this tear means that he means it as he tilts down and presses his lips on mine, giving me the softest, the purest, and deepest kiss he ever gave me making my whole world just burst out in a warmth that I couldn't even describe which reach my inner core, but it made me love him more as I responded the kiss back, so he can feel what he's making me feel and how much I love him.
His written words on the sand will forever remain engraved on my heart as my tears mixed with his as we kissed on the beach that night.
"I love you, forever Mai!"
Thank you for liking my last chapter, I enjoy writing that one, and this one, I change everything, but some lines here and there. I wanted it to make it feel authentic and give them some just after all they went through. I enjoy this one so much, I hope you'll like the wedding. I try my best to make it as beautiful as possible. Also I tried to keep Naru in character without breaking him. I hope I did okay.
