I don't own twilight. What I own is my character's behavior, personality, background, and the plot of my story.

Edward spends the entire time with Tanya, stuck in his head. He barely listens to a word she says. He pretends that he does and nods his head in all the right places.

It doesn't make any sense at all. Why would he speak to her in an American accent? Why would Bella call him Jacob? If he has an American accent, why would he pretend to have an Italian one?

Is he even Italian?

All of those thoughts swirl in his head as he parks the car in Rosalie and Emmett's driveway. He rings the doorbell and hears the pitter-patter of small feet running to the door followed by heavier ones. The door swings open and the twins tackle him, each on one side.

"Uncle Eddie," both of them yell at the same time. Since hearing Cece call him Eddie, Emmett has been encouraging his twins to call him that. If there is anything Emmett loves as much as bugging Rosalie by calling her Rosie, it's bugging him with Eddie.

"Hey kiddos, I missed you so much," he tells them as he bends and scoops them up with one in each arm. He chats with them for a bit while Rosalie closes the door behind them and then he sets them off.

"Hey Rose, where is Emmett," he asks after hugging her.

"He is playing a video game in the basement. Unless you don't want to drink anything, I suggest you take a coke with you. I refuse to come down," she tells him turning her back and going to the backyard.

Since seeing how he gets with alcohol and hearing some of Bella's tales, Rosalie stopped letting him drink at her place. That is one thing he is okay with.

He takes one out of the fridge and goes down the stairs to the basement and understands why Rosalie refuses to step into the basement.

The place is a mess. Things are thrown all over it. Food wrappers are everywhere and in the middle of it all, Emmett is sitting and playing a video game on TV.

"How the hell do you survive down here?" Edward asks attracting the attention of Emmet as he jumps up and opens the smaller windows near the ceiling.

Without turning to him he replies, "Come on dude, not you too," he tells him groaning then continues, "I will clean it once I am done playing."

"I need your help," Edward tells Emmet once Emmett is done playing and has his attention.

"I expected it. You never show up unless you need something," Emmett replies which are true. Since he and Bella broke up, he stopped visiting them. Rosalie always blamed him for Bella leaving. She always made it clear that her loyalties lay with Bella.

"What is it?"

"You remember your detective friend?" Edward asks Emmett.

"Jay Jenks, what's with him? Who do you need him to investigate?"

"Marco," Edward tells him and then rushes in to tell him what he heard in Bella's office before Emmett can tell him that he needs to move on like he always does whenever he mentions Bella.

"I see why you want him to be investigated. This entire thing makes him look sketchy," Emmett tells him looking deep in thought.

"I think if we figure him out, he could be the key to many things. But man why do you even care? So what if he has an American accent?"

"It's a gut feeling," Edward replies not looking at him knowing that Emmett can tell when he lies.

"A gut feeling or maybe he is Bella's husband and you wanna feel better about yourself by finding something to prove that he is not better than you and she missed out by leaving you?" Emmett asks him.

Emmett's question makes him pause for a second unsure of what to answer him. He himself is unsure of why he is so I visited in everything.

Maybe it's because he wants to know the truth. Like a moth to a flame, he is attracted to what could be his own demise.

Maybe it's the masochistic side of him looking for another reason to punish himself.

Maybe it's because a sadistic part of him wants to see her miserable without him.

Maybe it's because a part of him is not over her. A part of him is looking for a way to prove to her that she should be with him.

A part of him would rather be her second option, than not be one at all.

"I don't know. Maybe both or even neither. What I do know is that the whole thing is strange. Why would you pretend to have an Italian accent if you have a normal American one? The only person who lies about such a thing is the person hiding something bigger."

The part of him that is not willing to be honest with the ones around him, is as powerful as the part that is not interested in being honest with himself.

"What if there is nothing to find and he is just a weirdo that likes to lie about things?" Emmett asks him.

"I don't know."

That is the thing. Since Bella's reappearance in his life, everything has been upside down. Nothing is making sense. He doesn't know what he will do if it turns out there is nothing behind Marco's behavior. What would even make less sense then than his life would be for Bella to choose to leave him for Marco.
