Chapter Forty-seven: Scar?
Mai Pov
Never in my life did I felt so happy to wake up alive, giving the second change of life felt wonderful, even the early birds didn't bother me, but I welcome them. It's strange, what you normally find annoying or don't bother to pay attention to, becomes the most beautiful feeling in the world and appreciate it.
I awoke the next day feeling a bit with a headache, and stiff muscles. I rub my eyes to turn, but I frowned since I couldn't see Naru around.
"Naru?" I whispered looking around as I slowly stood up when I heard his footsteps coming up the stairs. I pushed my legs up but gasped out of how much energy that took.
I think I need to see a doctor, I don't think I'm normal.
Shaking myself, Naru rushed towards me, placing a cup down on the floor and place his hand on my arm for support. I turn my head to look at him.
"Morning," I smiled at him as he gave me a tight look.
"Morning, sorry, I was getting some water downstairs," he said to me as he helps me stand, but my knees weaken that I almost fell but Naru wrap his arm around me to hold me in place.
"Oh, thanks." I smiled at him. He nods gently.
"Your muscles are very weak at the moment, you've been dead for a few hours, so it will be some time when you can regain your energy back," Naru said with a thick voice.
"How do you know that?" I asked him as he places his arm under my leg and hoists me up in his arms. I wrap my arm around him.
"I work in the paranormal Mai," he said to me. I felt a sweat drop.
"So you read of resurrections as well?" I asked him. He shrug his shoulders when he began to walk down the stairs.
"I dabble here and there." He only answers me. I rolled my eyes as I took notice he's not using his powers.
"So you dabble here and there with no powers?" I teased him since normally he does since last month. Naru frowns looking down at me.
"Not today.." he whispers as he reaches the first floor and opens the door and began to head downstairs.
I wince from the morning sun and cover my eyes since it was blazing up in the sky. I could hear the birds, the tree rustlings, and all of nature. I felt my heart soar with pure happiness know that I'm alive and I get another chance to hear it. Naru slowly walks down.
"So what happened? Where did Alice and you go?" I ask as he walks towards the stream. He remained quiet to only hear Naru's heart. It's beating hard, that I couldn't help but place my ear on his chest to hear it.
His heartbeat is soothing to me, why is it beating so hard though?
Naru looks down and arched a brow, but then smiles lifting his gaze back up. I felt myself blush hard at his sudden reaction, but smile timidly.
About a few minutes we reach the stream. Naru sits me down on the edge of the water, he moves rapidly and gets me water from our cup, I arched a brow at how he has the cup, I don't remember him taking it from the treehouse, he placed it down on the floorboard.
After he came up to me he hands me the cup and I took it without hesitation. I gulp the water down making me feel better.
"Ah, I love water," I simply said as I turned to look up at him and I offer him some as well. He bends down and I help him drink the water. He swallows and then I place the cup down.
"How did you get this cup? You left it near our bed." I asked him. He licks his lips as I move my hand to wipe his lower chin since some water spilled.
"It's a strange story." he began as he stood up and began to remove his clothes causing me to blush and I look down at my lap.
"Well I have all day," I stated as I took another drink. Naru looks down at me after he finished removing his pants. Then he bends down and takes my cup and place it to the side. I lift my gaze and blushed even harder as his eyes search mine. My heart began to pound hard against my ribs.
"Why did you become shy?" he asks as he gets closer and began to remove my dress, by grabbing the bottom part and pushed it up, he wraps his arm around my waist and hoist me up and then place me down after he manages to get the dress out, I lift my arms and he removes it. Now naked in front of him, I cover my breasts with my arm and felt shyer.
I forgot about my scar at the moment.
"Mai?" He questions as he seems to hesitate on touching me now, I lift my gaze to see that he looks worried.
"Because…" I felt my heart racing even more as Naru arched a brow.
"Because?" he pushed as I sigh in defeat.
"Because you look so adorable, you are worried about me," I told him. He thins out his lips, but then lets out a relief of breath, shaking his head.
"I thought I did something wrong. Adorable? Hmm," He simply said as I lift my arms like a child so he can pick me up. He does, and hoist me up in his arms. Then turns to head for the waters, he gently settles me down and places me on top of his lap after he sat down. I extend my arms out, to pour the refreshing water on my heated skin. Naru began to brush my hair with his fingers.
"So are you going to answer me for my first question about Alice?" I question him.
"Alice, she fused with you as Sasuke did with me.. Alice and Sasuke never died, because they are us. Sasuke managed to conceal their souls into our bodies. Instead of moving on. Their love was too strong to be broken. So it lived on with us, it's hard to explain it, to be honest." He explains. I still didn't get it, but I didn't question it.
"Okay," I whispered while Naru shook his head.
"You don't get it, do you... I'll just sum it up, that she's in you. That's all." He simply said.
"Oh, okay.." I smiled at him shyly. I turned to look at him to see that he has suds in his hands, lathering it up. He began to wash my chest, down to my shoulders and arms. I couldn't help but get lost in him as I continued to stare at him.
"I saw Gene. He said that he loves me. I told him to... I love him." I told him.
Naru arched a brow, as his eyes turned cold.
"Is that so." He whispered as I jump when he cups my breast.
"Ne Naru?" He lifts his gaze.
"Sorry, " He said timidly making my whole body grow warm, but he was about to remove it when I place my hand on his hand and didn't let him move. Naru arched a brow as I shook my head.
"It's fine, you just took me by surprise. I don't mind you touching me there." I told him honestly. He clears his throat and nods.
"So you told him you love him huh?" I nodded at him, as I leaned my head against his chest, as he began to caress me. I shut my eyes, enjoying what he's doing.
"Yes. He told me he loved me dearly. I kiss him.." I whispered. He stops his caressing as I blinked as it dawned on me and my eyes narrow.
He's going to get mad, but he has to know, right?
"How many people are you kissing?" He asks as his eyes tighten. I flinched,
"Um, two. I kiss Sasuke as well, I forgot to tell you." I admit.
"You kiss him?" His voice is dangerous. I nodded calmly.
"Want me to show you?" I whispered which I don't know why I'm teasing him, but I didn't do anything wrong.
"Why? I know how you kiss, they must have..." He stops when I move my head and press my lips on his cheek and kiss him twice.
"This is how I kissed Gene and Sasuke, and Gene kissed me the same way, and as I told you last night Sasuke kissed me on my forehead, I think. What you're feeling is how I felt when Kyoko kissed you. Don't worry, you know I won't be unfaithful to you, that's why I'm letting you know." I blushed as I capture his lips with my thumb.
"Like I said before. I belong to you... You will always be my first and last. No other. I love you." I whispered to him.
He moves his hand and captures my cheek, moving his hand, to capture my lips with his thumb, making me nervous. His eyes roam my face once again, but instead of being mad, his eyes soften.
"Warm," he whispers, I arched a brow at his sudden random word. He moves closer and captures my lips against his. I trembled, then he ran his tongue across my lips. My eyes widen and move back, covering my lips.
"Naru?" I asked amazed at his bold move while he smirks.
"You as well Mai. I'm glad that you told me the truth. It's a relief. I don't mind that you kiss both of their cheeks. I don't want to sound too overprotective, nor demanding. Is just the thought of your lips touching another man's lips, makes my blood boil." he admits.
I giggled at his sudden words.
"It's nice to hear that, it's rare to hear you admit it," I admit to him. Naru captures both of my cheeks as his gaze deepens making my heart beat like crazy.
"You're the only one that is allowed to kiss me." He admits as he leans down and captures my lips with his. My whole body awakes as I grasp his arm pulling him closer, as our kiss becomes more passionate, as to the point Naru deepens the kiss as though he was a thirsty man, that finally found water. I felt his fingers caressing my cheek, as I did the same as a deep moan escapes me, aching to have him do more. I was just simply floating in cloud nine, pushing myself more into him.
Breathing hard, we continue to kiss, getting lost in each other, but sadly we both separated, breathing hard and I flutter my eyes open to see him with longing in his eyes as he licks his lips. I capture his cheeks with one hand and dip him down to kiss him multiple times on his lips as tears began to roll down my cheeks. Giving him a gentle one, I lift my gaze to see Naru wiping my eyes.
"Mai?"
"I'm sorry, I thought I wouldn't ever see you again when I died. I just realized, how much I love your kisses and touches. How much I love your hugs and your company. I thought I lost everything." I admit.
"Me too," Naru admits to me. I couldn't help but smile, but as I move to rinse, I look down to see my scar as Gene's words came back to me.
Oh no, I forgot about this. Naru will get disgusted by it. My self-esteem drops as fear grip my heart.
Naru Pov
Having my wife back is like bringing me back to life, I couldn't believe it and I thought it was a dream, a wonderful dream until she told me that it wasn't. If she only knew the happiness that is inflamed into my heart. I just watching her because she's so fragile. I'm scared if I just leave for five minutes or so, I will lose her. I got traumatized, to be honest.
Last night while she slept, I couldn't stop looking at her or touch her, just to make sure she was alive and not my imagination.
"Let's try to get you to stand," I told Mai as I stood up from our bathing post as she looks up at me. She shook her head.
"Does your muscles hurt that much?" I question her. She lifts her legs and shook her head.
"I know you're weak, but you have to begin some therapy." I bend down getting worried about her. Mai looks away, not daring to see me. I felt worried by her sudden change.
We just washed, and kissed a lot, why is she suddenly like this? Did something happen? Did I make a mistake? Now panicking.
"Mai, did I do something wrong?" I asked causing her to look back at me.
"No, why do you ask?"
"Because you're retreating," Mai suddenly moves and grabs my hands catching me by surprise.
"Mai?" I question her while she swallows hard.
"You… I mean, if I show you something, will you still desire me? Love me?" she questions me. I gave her a strange look, feeling confused.
"Of course Mai, I just lost you a day ago and got you back, I am not that stupid to throw a second chance away, not many have that, my feelings for you won't change automatically," I admit to her. Mai gave me a passive look as she seems to hesitate on what, I don't know, but I place my hand on hers and rub it gently.
"Did you kiss anyone else?" I asked, not liking this at all, I'm trying hard to not get mad at this even though I'm grateful that it was a small kiss on the cheek. Mai shook her head.
"No, I promise." She extends her arms up for me to take. I wrap my arm around her waist and hoist her up to stand. She held onto me as she closes her eyes.
"Do you see it?" she asks feeling her small body shake. I blinked confused as I roam my eyes down the side of her body, tracing her milky skin, giving me a good view. I bite my lower lip as I felt myself ache with desire.
"Well, I see it alright," I said causing her to look at me. She arched a brow as I felt my cheeks warm up.
"Huh?"
"Well, does that answer your question about how I want you?" I said as I look down, Mai follows and saw my desire for her. Her face turns red so bad that she looks away as I look away from her.
"That bad?" she asks, I turned and lowered myself to nuzzle the side of her head lovingly.
"It's painful sometimes of how much I want you," I admit causing her to look at me and her eyes widen.
"So you've been like that before we made love?" I nodded at her as she looks in shock, but then something passes her eyes causing my heart to tighten.
"It's nice, that I can cause that reaction towards you, but I'm sorry for waiting for so long," she admits. I shook my head at her.
"It's fine, the cold water helps a lot, but what am I suppose to look at?" I felt confused as Mai grabs my arm and spun me to face her and looks away and place her hand on her stomach. I lower my gaze and my eyes connect with an ugly snake-like scar on her body.
Sadness pierced my heart at the sight that I drop to my knees, causing Mai to grasp my shoulder for support and look down at me in surprise.
Did that lady do this to her? Anger began to boil in me as I look up at my wife.
"What happened?" I demanded.
"You didn't see it after you undressed me?" she asks me a bit shocked, but I can hear a heaviness in her tone as though she wants to cry. I shook my head.
"No, Mai, my mind isn't thinking, oh, I'm going to get to undress my wife to see if she has a new scar? Who did this?" I questioned getting more irritated by this.
How dare she do this to my wife?
"Remember what Kyoko said to me?" she whispers her voice becoming thicker breaking my heart. I nodded, as it came back to me.
"She hurt you... Wait.." my eyes narrow as this rage consumed my heart.
"That woman, I'm going to tear her apart," I growled as I stood up, but Mai took my arm and shook her head.
"She's not here anymore," she said, causing me to hiss through my teeth, fisting my hand.
"Lucky bastard." I simply said as I sigh while I get on my knees again to keep tracing her new scar.
It's not like she doesn't have enough scars, poor Mai, it must be hard on her.
My eyes soften as the anger melted slightly as this new ache pierced into my heart.
"Naru, don't stare at it, it's ugly." Her voice trembles a lot. I raise my gaze to look at her.
"Mai, why are you crying?" I asked her.
She hiccups, wiping her eyes.
"Seriously? I... I was trying to avoid this, I'm sorry Naru... Now you'll be disgusted by me. Now, you won't kiss me, nor make love to me. Kyoko said it... She's right." My heart broke at her words.
"Then, what about our conversation? Do you remember what I told you two years ago? Even if you had a scar, I wouldn't stop desiring you?" I question her, not understanding her mood swings in a sense, don't I assure her enough?
"That was before you saw my scar.." she cries harder.
"Look at me." I force my voice as I stood up. She stubbornly shook her head.
"No... Please, leave me be. Now that you saw it. You'll leave me... Thank you for everything. I will treasure it... Go and remake your life. This is painful to say, but get yourself a good wife that is unblemished.." I groaned, taking her hand. I hoist her up carefully, causing her to gasp lowering her arms down to look at me.
"Naru?"
"If I tell you, that I don't care, will you believe me?"
"No, because in the end, even if you stay with me, you'll get sick of seeing my scar, you'll start to wish you had a normal wife, with clear skin." Her voice shook. With a sigh, I place Mai on top of the boulder and place my hand at each side of her, trapping her. She wipes her eyes as I look at her.
"Naru?"
"Mai, I'm turning twenty-eight soon, I'm not a child anymore nor do I have time for this, you know me better than anyone and how I think. I don't care how you look. I lost you a few times already on which I lost count. We know what it feels like to lose someone close. We are a special case, that most people our age can't comprehend just yet because they haven't gone through what we went through with life and death multiple times. Life has thrown us in and out. You think, just because you have this, I'll start ignoring you? Or finding you disgusting?" I said to her.
"Y...Yes, it's ugly," she said frowning, I mentally groaned.
She's too sensitive at this point, but if I can reach her in a way she can understand, like my scars. That's right.
"Stop belittling yourself, Mai. I have many scars, including the stab wound, did you find it disgusting?" I asked her. She shook her head rapidly.
"No, I think they are battle scars that you won, to be honest, I find them a bit admiring and sexy in a way because each scar meant that you were protecting me." She admits to me. I felt my face warming up at her words as my heart warms as well.
Mai surely knows how to make me feel shy, battle scars that look sexy? Wow.
Without a second thought, I lowered myself down and surprise her as I kiss her new wound a few times, feeling her brush her hands through my hair while she shivers.
"Naru?" she gasped out as I look up at her.
"I will let you know if I ever get tired of you, I promise that I will be truthful, but for now, these are battle scars Mai, a scar you earned by protecting the souls in this island and me," I assured her.
Tears fall down her eyes as I lift myself she scoots closer to me and wraps her arms around me.
"Really?" she asks me as I rub her back gently.
"Really, I would always find you desirable, my thoughts haven't changed since I last told you, please, believe me, you know I won't lie about this," I admit to her as I separated a bit and look down she follows along and her eyes wide and looks back at me after seeing that I still desire her. I shrugged a bit absentmindedly while she burst out laughing in a teary way, as we sway back and forth.
"Naru,"
"Hmm?"
"I love you, so much," she said as I smiled leaning into her as I felt tears prickling in my eyes.
"You're my life, but to be honest, I have to go and retake a cold shower." I simply told her, holding her tighter and whispers into my ear.
"Me too, too bad I don't have the energy to show you how much I want you right now, but I can tell you that I want you right now." I arched a brow looking at her as she blushed hard as she shrugs, and she cheekily seductively licks her lips looking at me with desire, but looks away in a shy matter making me ache a bit more. I couldn't help but burst out laughing as we hugged once again tightly. She smiles as I rub her bareback.
Thank you, God, for bringing her back to me, and thank you for letting her understand that I love her no matter what. If she wasn't here with me, right now, I would have trouble in finding a way to bury her, or I just have wasted away next to her body.
Mai POV
"You want to sleep here?" Naru asks as he placed me down on the sandy ground watching him walk up to the hammock he did on our date before we got married.
"Yes, the air is crisp, there are not many waves today and I'm sick of that treehouse," I admit to him. Naru goes up to the tree to make sure the knot is still secure.
"Alright," he mumbles as he was satisfied with it, then he goes up to me, but I couldn't stop smiling at his words from earlier.
I lift my arms so he can pick me up. He chuckles as he wraps his arm around me and hoists me up, and slowly walks up to the hammock, he gets in first while he kept holding me, then he helps me making me lay on top of him, running my fingers down his naked torso since he felt too hot to be needing to wear a shirt, but some pants. Naru smiles and began to caress my back.
"Now, explain to me," I whispered.
"Hmm?" he asks. I snuggled more into his bare warm chest.
"The woman... Ayame said that she use to be a witch that turned evil. I'm still confused by that.." I explained.
"Do you want to know, how you got rid of her?" he asks me.
He still wants me, not caring about my new scar. Gene was right, I was afraid for nothing, he has scars as well and I don't see him any less. I am so grateful to have him.
"Yes."
"After I let you borrow my powers, your body glowed so much even more than last time. That caused the lady to burn and the others to be set free. Their souls left the mirror and overcast the island. It was quite a show." he explains to me.
I can imagine it.
"I'm still confused. You know, Gene said that about the whole sacrifice thing was a test.." I whispered... Naru goes still but nods.
"I know... Idiotic to tell you the truth, isn't like we haven't been tested before. We can't stand the thought of either of us dying before the other." he admits.
I frowned, moving my head to stare at him.
"I know. I couldn't do that. Even if is not you, and it was some other person I still couldn't do it. I had no other choice though. She was going to kill Alice."
"I know Mai, trust me I know," he assures me as he looks down at me.
"Then tell me about the lady, what's her real story. I already know everyone, but hers."
"Not sure." He admits as I lowered myself down and kiss his chest where his heart lies. It was beating strong against his chest.
"Can we talk about this tomorrow? You need rest, Mai." I frowned, nodding my head. I ran my hand up and started to trace his chest.
"Naru, in the other world I live, well have you ever cleared up with Masako?" I questioned, remembering the hateful and jealous looks. Naru remains quiet for a few minutes, but then breathed out.
"No… I haven't spoken to her about how I feel and such, remember I came back from England that year and barely had any time to speak properly with anyone, but I was planning on doing it." He admits.
I groaned covering my face.
"Well, that explains it. Poor girl... I hope she moved on and found someone that will truly love her." I wished with all my heart.
"Yeah." Naru agrees. I move my head once again to see his eyes close. I snaked myself upwards, to reach his chin. He opens one eye.
"Hmm?" he asks again. I blushed as I move and kiss his chin.
"Thank you for not giving up on Faith... Remind me to never give it up.." Naru encircles his arms around me and takes a deep breath.
"Sure." He yawns, noticing how tired he looks.
"You haven't slept well."
"Nope. Watching your body took a lot over me, as well giving you my powers."
"Sorry." I felt bad. He shook his head.
"Not your fault, but the lady." He said. Then I felt his hands trace down my spine, making me laugh. I cover my mouth. He opens his eyes arching a brow.
"You're ticklish there?" he mumbles... I shook my head.
"No.." My voice cracked in a high-pitched voice. He shook his back a little.
"Sleep. We will talk more tomorrow." He whispers.
Nodding, I snuggle more into him. Then my eyes widen to feel his hand once again on my back tracing my spine. I spat out a giggle while I slap his shoulder.
"Stop that.." I complained.
"Stop what?' he teases me acting all innocent arching a brow. I held back from resisting how cute he looks.
"Naru!" I complained once again, as he did it again.
"I don't know what our talking about, go to sleep. I'm tired." He spat in a strange tone as a yawn passes his lips. I gave him a dark look.
"Meany.. Don't tickle me.." I accuse him.
"Meany? Are you a child?"
"No, Naru please stop... I…." Then my eyes widen, to feel his hand down on my behind and he pushes me up, lifting his legs. He moves his arms around me and holds me tight.
"Now, sleep." I blushed, looking up at him.
"Naru.." I timidly whisper.
"What is it now?" He complains while the blush turns deeper.
"It felt good," I whispered to him. He snaps his eyes open once again, to look down at me, with wide eyes.
"Exactly what?" he questions. I blushed even more, (Even if is possible.)
"Your hand... When you touch my…"
"Mai... I was only pulling you up." he had this strange tone of teasing me. I blinked, confused by his words.
"Huh?"
"You're behind, if that felt good, you want me to do it again, cause it did feel good for me." My eyes widen at his sudden bold words.
"Eii. What you're talking about. I was going to say when you touch my back in circles. Pervert." I cover my face with my hand, sinking into his chest.
"Oh.." He whispered, covering his face with his hand, looking oddly embarrassed himself. I uncover my eye taking a sneak peek and instead of being mad, I giggle past my lips.
"Naru is a pervert, but you look cute embarrassed. It's okay though." I whispered.
"Oh?" He moves his hand, as I nodded.
"I like your touches, no matter where... Being yours, I don't care... I hope Naru likes mine as well.." I whispered. Naru smirks, nodding his head.
"You have no idea how much I like them. Next time, you can touch my behind, if you want.." My eyes widen at his words but I cleared my throat.
Feeling hot for some odd reason. He chuckles but didn't notice the red blush that passes his cheeks.
"Aren't we getting too personal?" I asked. He shrugs closing his eyes again.
"We are married, doesn't matter what we touch... While being in our consent and the other feel comfortable, is no problem. From hair to toe, in between and none. You have the same rights, as I do. Your body only belongs to me, and my body belongs to you when it comes to intimacy or moments like this. I wasn't joking when I told you that last time when we made love." he explains. I smiled, feeling warm about his words.
"Alright.." I whispered, laying my head on his chest once again. Naru adjusts his legs.
I smiled, even more, feeling his arm around me.
"Sleep now." I nodded, closing my eyes.
"Naru.." Once again, I spoke.
"Woman, when are you going to sleep?" he complains causing me to giggle.
If knowing being married to Naru would be like this, I would have married him long ago.
"One more thing.." I sleepily move to stare at his eyes. He looks down at me, as he moves his hand and cups my cheek, running his thumb across my cheeks.
"What is it, Mai?"
"Now that we don't have spirits on this island... What do we do?"
"Live, and survive. We have four more years to go... So might as well live it up." he whispers. I nodded as Naru lowers himself and kiss my lips once again.
"Then.., It's a new... Beginning for us... A new chapter." He mumbles between our kisses.
"Yes... A new beginning of our lives. " I whispered between our lips, savoring him, then I lay back on his chest, this time sleep taking over me.
I already felt Naru breathing going even
I smiled, kissing his chest. I went into a deep sleep on top of him. Little did I knew, Naru whispered into my ear very important words that I wish I was awake to hear. He smiles at me tenderly as he held me and went back to sleep.
Waiting for tomorrow to be our new beginning.
Little did we know, that from this day onward, a new chapter will emerge. A new way of life will open our eyes. When one story is finished, a new one opens. The Black Lagoon sure has many secrets is yet to be discovered and soon we'll learn that the hard way. Yet our love will be stronger than ever.
(Deleted Scene Sixth year, A few days after Naru Propose)
Naru Pov
I held a stack of logs heading for the treehouse since Mai and I were going to have a big dinner tonight.
"I hope this is enough," I drop it near our home and dusted my hands. Then I stretched my back and sigh.
"Noll, once you just travel around Japan haunting for ghost and making them move on, and had an easier life in a sense. I miss a normal flushing toilet, an air condition room. One thing I don't miss was overworking. I don't miss it at all. I wonder how Lin is doing? I do miss him." I asked myself when I suddenly heard a loud singing voice.
"What the?" I began to slowly walk towards the singing, only to be lead towards the stream. I spot Mai wearing my baggy shirt and her short pants and barefooted.
This girl knows is dangerous to be barefooted in the middle of nowhere. I was about to step in to scold her when she began to spin waving her arms up and down, as though she was in a Jpop band or something like that. I don't follow the trend.
She was into it, twirling around, moving her hips and her hair, I couldn't help but cover my mouth so she won't hear me since I am enjoying her small performance. She kept singing one of her favorite music shuffling back and forth, but as I step on a twig for mistake after I took a step forward, she stops turning to face me breathing hard.
"Naru?" I rub the back of my neck and awkwardly wave at her.
Didn't mean to get caught.
Mai's flushed face turns redder.
"So you saw me dance?" she questions. I nodded at her while walking up.
"Why no, I thought you were just doing some mating dance once again." I teased causing her to run her hand through her face.
"Oh, no I wasn't, I was bored is all." She tells me. I arched a brow as I came up to her.
"Is that so, I thought you were gathering more food? But you got bored?" I question her as I gave her a slanted grin causing her to look away from me in a shy matter.
"Yes, um... You finished gathering the wood?" she changes the subject. I nodded at her.
"Yes, and did you finish gathering the food?" I pushed on, knowing the answer. She thins out her lips and looks around trying to think of an answer.
"Err, yessss?" she extended the yes in a high pitch voice causing me to nod slowly at her.
"Yessss? How about noooo, Naruuuu I wassss fooolling arounnnddd." I teased her causing her to cross her arms puffing her cheeks out.
"I don't speak that way,"
"When you're not lying," I chuckle not sure why I'm having fun with this, she frowns at me.
"Fine, I wasn't fooling around, I was dancing because I'm still excited." now she caught me off guard.
"Excited for?" I question while she blushes softly and looks at me with a big smile, which I couldn't help but fall for making my heart beat like crazy.
She has a beautiful smile, she's so adorable.
"The proposal you gave me a few days ago. I can't wait to get married to you." I was taken aback.
"Oh, that,"
"Yes that," she spat back at my dry response.
"Well we already married, but I'm glad you are still excited," I admit to her making me feel at ease. Mai frowns at me and takes out her tongue. I squint my eyes at her sudden reaction.
Why is she acting that way?
"You're a dry old man." she spat.
I was a bit insulted by her remark that came out of nowhere.
"Dry old man? I'm only a year older than you." I blinked as she pouts at me.
"Well you act like an old man, aren't you excited?"
"Mai, I'm not a romantic you know that, but I am but I don't just think of it all day, I do think of other things." I honestly told her.
"But you are romantic when you don't think of it, so what do you think of?"
"What are we going to eat for tomorrow and how are we going to survive the next attack of thing wolf and thing horse," I told her. Mai giggles at my dry joke, but slumps her shoulders and nods at me.
"True," she admits.
"I am excited and nervous Mai, I get to marry the same girl twice. I can't wait." I admit to her as I wrap my arms around her. She smiles tenderly, placing her cheek on my chest, and bites on her thumb while smiling deeply with such peace. I lowered my head and kiss the top of her head.
I really can't wait.
"I cant' wait, Mai, I really can't," I assured her as she closes her eyes, knowing that my words mean the world to her.
