Lorelai was so happy for Sookie. In just a few hours there would be another baby in the world. Her friends were so happy about the new addition in their life and she was pacing the floor nervous that she might be having a new addition without planning on it. She didn't know what to do, she couldn't talk to Sookie about it, she was a bit occupied. She didn't want to bring Rory into it for a number of reasons. And she was scared to tell Luke. He would say the right things and be there for her, but she wasn't sure he would be honest about his feelings.
Jackson came around the corner, "Hey Lorelai, Sookie's labour has slowed down and I'm going to grab her a few more things from the house. Do you mind sitting with her?"
"Sure thing!"
"Can I bring back anything for you? Coffee?"
"You know me so well. Thanks Jackson. Hey, are you sure you don't want me to go?" Lorelai confirmed
"Yeah, Sookie said my musk was making her sick so I have to grab a quick shower first." He waved as he took off.
Lorelai took in a deep breath and tried to put all her own worries out of her head, now was the time to focus on Sookie. She plastered on a big smile and went into the room, "Hey Sook, how are you feeling?"
"I need a distraction, all I can think about is how much pain I'm going to be in." Sookie was spiraling.
Lorelai perched herself on the bed beside her best friend and rubbed her arm, "The pain just lasts a few hours, then you'll have a beautiful baby. It will smell great, and love you more than anyone in the world cause you're its Mommy. You'll get to make Jackson do a whole bunch of things for you because you just pushed his child through your loins."
Sookie giggled, "I never have to MAKE Jackson do things. He's so sweet and caring and I'm just so mean to him. He's going to leave me one day for a skinny, sweet, perky, blonde who doesn't tell him his musk smells like manure!"
Lorelai shifted so she was face to face with Sookie, "Take a deep breath. You are a great person, Jackson is lucky to have you. He knows that you two are the perfect couple. Relax."
Sookie took two deep breaths and after exhaling the second she smiled, "Okay you need to tell me something to get my mind off my own life for a second. Anything! Please."
"I'm late," Lorelai blurted out,
"Luke and I had a great round, or two, of drunken, unprotected sex a few weeks ago and I'm late."
Sookie gasped, "The night of the party with the limo?"
Lorelai nodded. "What do I do Sook?"
"How late are you? Have you told Luke?"
Lorelai sighed, "Nevermind. This day is about you. I don't know anything anyway."
"Are you kidding me? I need this! I don't want to think about contractions, epidurals, Jackson's family coming to visit NEXT WEEK, and the pain of labour I'm about to endure. PLEASE distract me with this. It is so juicy that I can really forget my stuff."
Lorelai laughed, "I'm glad my mess can be a distraction."
"Why is it a mess? I mean I know it wasn't planned, but you and Luke are in a good place. You guys seem to be headed towards marriage and kids, this just moves the timeline a bit. And let's be honest, you and Luke aren't getting any younger, moving up the timeline might not be a bad thing. And how much fun would it be to raise our kids together?"
Lorelai smiled, "You do make a lot of sense."
